If you love Fairytales, the dark twisted kind then this anthology is for you!!! Mirror is a collection of mind blowing, you cannot believe the places you will go and the dark graphic things you will see fairytales written by a group of truly gifted Authors!!!
I have to say that each story in this anthology was so good I had a hard time even picking a favourite, however, Red Queen by R.L. Weeks knocks it out of the park with her twist on Alice in Wonderland. As well Lamia's Tower by K. L. Bone impressed me with the story of Rapunzel!!
Overall an amazing enchanted fairytales anthology that will keep you in the edge of your seat and hearts pounding wondering what will happen next!!
What a shocking read all this stories are part of fairytales that we have read as kids but this ones come in a twisted way. They definitely took me for surprise. this authors did an amazing job with all of them they sure were dark and twisted and even some were sad as well. They were definitely a great read.
WOW, this book takes your traditional fairytale and puts a whole new twist. I loved it. It was so hard to put down. I will read it a second time. Great writting.
I read and am leaving a review for Lamias Tower by K.L Bone.
This short retelling story is spectacular! It’s a quick read that takes on a whole different spin of the fairytale of Rapunzel!
In all the classic stories that revolve around Rapunzel trapped in her tower, the prince comes and rescues her and she is free and lives happily ever after! In this story, the amazing word and tale weaver that is the magnificent K.L Bone does what she does best and creates a totally different story!
Rapunzel is not the damsel in distress or the lonely and innocent princess that needs rescuing! She is the danger that lurks behind every corner and in each dark spot! The monster that is said to be there to keep her inside is a warning that all previous to the prince fail to heed and understand properly! The Prince, you would assume does what no one has done before, but you would be wrong! He falls to desires of the flesh and is ensared in the Monsters grasp to meet his doom!
A five star read! This is a a great retelling and a wonderful twist on the story we all know! Love it!

****I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all opinions are my own.****
KL Bone is a master storyteller. She knows how to drag you in and regardless of what genre you like to read, she will make you enjoy her stories. I am not a big horror/gore/dark fantasy (i.e. with lots of death) fan, however Bone's storytelling ability really made me enjoy her short story, Lamia's Tower. I wanted to know what happened next, even though I know it was going to be dark and dreary...and it was terrifying, until the last page. But it was so well written and interesting, it still leaves me thinking, well that was a really great story. Only good storytellers can accomplish that.
If you love a dark/twisted tale, this anthology is definitely for you!
Also, all KL Bone fans will love her short story, so a must read for all story loving fans!
This is a fantastic collection of dark fairytales. Each story is well-written, and offers a unique perspective on familiar stories. Although I enjoyed each story, my two favorites were The Twisted Tale of Saffron Schmidt by C.J. Laurence and 425o by Mila Waters. Although dark and twisted, these two stories were riveting with compelling endings that I was not expecting. Overall, I highly recommend this story, and I will be looking into more works by the talented authors within this collection.
Ok, so I started with The Red Mirror. Although I really enjoyed it, I did not like that it stops. There is no ending. It very much felt like a prequel not a short. There is I assume more to follow, and I look forward to reading it. I am finding that I am a real RL Weeks Fan (and many of the others in this anthology). And love the characters and settings. This was a "fun" twist of the Alice in Wonderland story.
I love fairytales and these don't disappoint. Each one has a fun and unique twist to the traditional tales. Each author brought something new to the table. I'm especially a fan if R. L. Weeks and her take on Alice in Wonderland with the Red Queen hits the spot! A fantastic read!
Absolutely loved each twisted story in this Anthology! I especially loved seeing my name pop up within the words of a couple stories, that always makes a reader smile... thank you Mila!
I absolutely love this collection of dark fairytales as they are stunning. Each Fairytale in this collection is unparalleled & very well crafted. I love them all but had a couple of favourites.
Red Mirror by R.L. Weeks is my favourite dark fairytale in this collection. The fabulous writing style is unrivaled & creates a riveting tale.
Twin Flames by Zizi Cole was my second favourite dark fairytale in this collection. A highly intriguing read.
Overall, very enchanting dark & twisted fairytales that you want to miss.
*** Review for Lamia's Tower by KL Bone *** If I were to say that KL Bone is the princess of dark fantasy, I would not be lying. Lamia's Tower is hauntingly beautiful and stays true to KL Bone's horrificly gorgeous writing style.
Dark. Twisted. No Mercy. Stab. Me. In. The. Heart. Kind. Of. Story.
Make sure you can handle the beauty of delicious evil when you dive into her novella. You will not be disappointed.
I would love to see her write more fairy tale novellas. 5 stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat.
