I’ve read this book, and the rest of the Grey Wolves/Gypsy Healers Series a couple of times since I was first recommended Prince of Wolves on Amazon back in 2013, but I’ve never gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I enjoyed this book, and it was definitely an emotional roller coaster. I found that for a shorter read, it definitely packs a lot of emotion into this story. I really enjoyed the thoughts/comments at the start of each chapter from a different character’s perspective, as it brings them to life and makes it seem like they’re actual real life people that would be awesome to have as friends/family. Sally finds out something surprising about her heritage. I also loved the humour, and banter between Sally and Costin.
This novella follows on from the Burning Claw. Both Sally and Costin went through the ringer during that book, and made it back together but are slightly damaged. Magic was used in the worst way against her. Sally was given a bracelet that was essentially a magical date r*pe dr*g. Another Canis Lupus male, who’d lost his true mate before being able to claim her decided that he wanted Sally for himself. It didn’t matter that he knew that she belonged to another. He was part of the Order of the Burning Claw, and they wanted to sway Sally to their cause, so the wiped her memory and removed her bond with Costin. I’ve always had a soft spot for Sally and Costin. It’s heartbreaking what darkness they’ve had to face but they’ve come out stronger than before.
This story definitely showed what their friends/pack would do for them, and when they’re wavering they have their backs. They sent Sally and Costin to Cold Spring to visit her family, as under the spell she thought that her parents were dead. This was another step in healing Sally. It totally adorable how Titus, their adopted son called her mommy mine just like how his daddy calls her Sally mine. I loved seeing Sally and Costin fall even more in love. Costin showed Sally that he wasn’t leaving no matter what, and he did this by saying the sacred bonding ceremony vows, and kneeling and washing Sally’s feet while saying them which was really beautiful. I’m looking forward to reading the next book, and seeing how the Fellowship fare fighting another evil, the Order of the Burning Claw. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
