A deadly attack. A shameful past. To protect her daughter, she'll unearth her darkest secrets. After surviving a tormented childhood, Isabel Cormack dedicated her life to protecting the defenceless. When a deadly encounter threatens to tear her from her adopted daughter and mentally ill sister, she vows to take her secret to the grave. But when footage of her home is broadcast nationwide, she’s faced with a slew of threatening notes and the uneasy feeling that someone haunts her footsteps. To protect her daughter and vulnerable sister, she vows to uncover the stalker’s identity. On her search for clues, a dark figure from her past emerges as a terrible reminder of the pain she’s caused those she loves most. No longer able to outrun her past, Isabel must confront her deepest regrets to save her family and give herself one last shot at redemption. Keep It Secret is the unputdownable sequel to Sam Vickery's heart-wrenching novel, One More Tomorrow.
Really good character development. It's sad when we, as mothers, must resort to murder as a way of protecting our children. Sadly, the twins, Isabelle and Bonnie, didn't have a mother to protect them from a depraved monster! Everything that happened to them in adolescence defined who they were as adults. This is one of those times when I rooted for the murderer to win! Good job Sam Vickery.
This book was gifted to me by the author in return for an honest review.
Now this is a book no reader should miss out.The story started in a very twisting manner and it gradually unfolded itself in the most unbelievable way.A very intense read that will make your head reel with emotions and anticipation.
This book took off from page one with a thrilling scene. One that I wanted to know more of, wanted to feel the grit and grime of. I wanted it to last longer. But the author moved on through that mystery so quickly that I felt whiplash and regret. I wanted it to dig deeper, especially being such a huge, life altering opener. But it was passed over much too quickly, resolved itself and moved on, to which I was a little disappointed. Then the book took an entirely different direction. The middle, here, got a little muddy for me. Not boring, it kept me going wanting to figure out what was going to happen, but it was all very unsurprising. Until nearly the end. Then it ramped up again just like the opening. And I would say that it ended on a very high, page-turning note, circling back to the beginning a bit and explaining a little bit of what I had felt went unexplained. So overall it was a good book. I just wish it whetted my appetite for thrill a bit more.
I read this book in almost one sitting. My eyes were burning and I could barely stay awake anymore. And even though I loved it, I'm not sure that I liked the main character. Had she kept all of the notes and flowers and other threats she was getting, she would have had evidence to go to the police with. She didn't make good choices. When you learned everything she'd gone through, you could understand. Her last confession blew me away. The book ended with me waiting for the other shoe to fall.
So the handyman who gets killed at the beginning was just the catalyst to show up and molest her daughter and get killed because the minute he does, apparently that's all that was needed to flush out the mother's ex that molested them as kids and was just waiting to molest them again but didn't know where they were after they stabbed him and mom moved away. Also killing your rapist apparently cures "bipolar" which makes you wonder just how "bipolar" the sister actually was -- looks a lot more like cptsd to me, but hey, what do I know?

Wow! Such a powerful story of loss and rebuilding life and the length one would go to protect those you love….Can I blame Isabel?…definitely not. I think if I was in the same situation I would more than likely to something similar. Sam is such a wonderful writer of such powerful topics. She does not cease to amaze me!
Sam you have done it again. I never thought that I would be hoping that someone would get away with murder. I was hooked from the start and I can't wait for the next release. Highly recommended.
A good read and the second book I've read by this author. Story was good but little disappointed in the ending but I'm about to read a third book by her so can't be bad eh
Brilliant book. I sat in the bath reading this & ended up staying there until I'd read the whole book. A twisty turn tale of murder, friendship turning to love, doing what a mother does best &....dont want to tell you anymore, you'll have to get stuck in yourselves 😊
That was pretty dark. A pair of twin sisters go through hell as children, which causes deep trauma that follows both of them into their adult lives. And then elements of that same hell start to repeat, and they respond the best way they know how. A nice short, suspenseful read.
