I haven't read the first edition of this book, maybe it already told everything and I picked the wrong one, but second edition was the greatest disappointment. What I was looking for? First of all I was looking for understanding of core Node modules, this is why this book is called Node.js and not Express.js or Node.js frameworks, right? In reality only 2 chapters were about the topic I wanted to read about. One mostly about event loop, and the other one about event emitter. And that's all. Goodbye Node, hello frameworks. I can understand why we have a big chapter about Express, but why do we have a separate chapter about some other frameworks? And information the book presented about them equals to something like "get started with this fancy framework with only 5 lines of code. Now you know how to start a server, goodbye".
This book is very very shallow unfortunately, sometimes it looks like getting started guide, sometimes it looks like a blog post written by middle-schooler. But in no case it looks like a book one can be proud of. I don't understand why this book is so bad. Maybe because it tried to tell about too many things on too little pages? Or maybe instead of interesting topics some not so interesting topics were chosen? I don't know. But this is a disappointment.
