Shifter Catrina Macintyre has roamed the wilderness of Alaska as a lone wolf for six years. Imprisoned in her wolf form by a promise to her mother, she seeks the opportunity to discover the truth about her parents’ murders. When an Alpha saves her and takes her to his pack, she has to decide whether he will aid her...or destroy her.
Killian Stone is the Alpha of Wolf Creek, determined to save what the Shifter race is quick to dismiss or kill: lone-Shifters. After years of disappointment, finding Cat was a relief. That is until the intriguing and challenging she-wolf reveals a past that could put his pack in danger.
Their undeniable attraction toward each other threatens to collapse Cat’s defensive walls. She’s torn between the hope of a future, and the lingering pain of her past. The truth may be more than either of them anticipated, threatening not only Cat, but the whole Shifter race.
Will Killian convince Cat to abandon her quest for vengeance before it destroys them all?
Author H.R. Savage started reading romance at an age that made her father cringe as she tried to hide the cover behind her hands. She technically finished writing her first book in Junior High, where it mysteriously disappeared in a reformatting incident. Due to the encouragement of her English teachers at her small town school in La Verne, California, she never lost her love for the art. Now a woman who swears by the power of coffee, Chinese food, and wine (not necessarily in that order), she decided it was time to create stories from the characters in her head.
When she isn’t writing, outlining, or pinning pictures of hot ‘character inspirations’ on Pinterest™, she is spending time with her three beautiful children and handsome husband.
This was a very amazing read. I was very surprised with this book and I'm so happy that I read it. I was never a shifters fan but after reading this, I am sure I will be reading more about it! I hope H.R Savage writes more about this series. I would love to read Jamie and Sullivan. She definitely writes story where you sure feel something for the winners as well.
The love between Killian and Cat was sweet, hot and touching. There are lots to take in when you fall in love and love makes us crazy and ready to face any danger that comes with it. The story line created by the author is very deep and well developed. You will be lost in the suspense. Cat is looking for revenge and will she be able to handle herself when she finds the culprit? Will she be able to control herself and save the ones she loves? Will Killian accept Cat and fight for her? Will both of them find love together?
These are the questions you will have when you read it. Highly recommended!
For a debut novel, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was everything you expect from a paranormal romance.
Cat has been on the run in her wolf form for 6 years after she witnessed her parents being killed. She had no idea why they were killed, but her mother told her to run and never return to her human form until she felt safe.
Killian is an alpha wolf shifter that owns wolf creek, where he takes in wolf shifters that have no pack. He took in Cat and learnt her to trust him. He helps her find out why her parents were killed, and as a pack they join together to help her. Until one day her pack comes under threat.
I won't give any more information away, because you need to read the story. It is full of love and emotion from the beginning and I look forward to the next book.
received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
At 17, a young Catrina Mcintyre is robbed of both her parents and her home. Obeying her mother's command to stay wolf until she was safe, Cat spent six years roaming the forests from Alaska to the continental US. As a wolf, she was captured by a rescue group and when she failed to thrive, Killian was sent to see if he could save the wolf.
As a reader, I was able to empathize with the horror of Cat's situation and her subsequent breakdown when the human half of her was finally able to deal with the grief of her parents death.
What concerns me, is that throughout the book, which in my mind takes place over a matter of months, is the fact that after the basic combat/fighting training she receives from the pack is that Cat truly believes she can take on the man/monster that murdered her parents. There is so much in this shifter world that Cat doesn't know or even understand.
To me, the six years she spent as a wolf stunted her emotional growth and vengeance served cold, or badly, can get a person killed.
I truly enjoyed the romance part of the story, the way that two people who have had terrible losses, have risen to face another day and find love.
This was my first book by H.R. Savage but definitely not my last. I had no expectations and was whisked into a cast of characters that wrapped around my heart and squeezed. The drama of the book is perfectly drawn out without being melodramatic. The sensual side is there and this book touches on all my triggers to be great. I can't wait to read the next!
I was in the mood for something a little different in my romance reads and picked this book. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily I became absorbed in it. I enjoyed the romance and the who dunnit. I found the pacing pretty good and the characters likable.
Killian is a fierce and dedicated Alpha but shows warmth and compassion where needed. Cat is a strong willed and independent female who does not acknowledge or obey Killian as her Alpha. Attraction and tension rise as the couple become intertwined.
What I loved about this seductive paranormal romance is how the author reignited my love for this genre with her debut novel. She has a gift, sweeping me up in a complex storm of in-depth emotions. She beautifully crafts all her characters. Killian and Cat made me laugh, cry, fall in love and fight along with them. I visualised each scene and did not anticipate any of the plot. I expect great things from this author and can not wait for her next book.
Elements I didn't like; Without giving spoilers, I questioned the implausibility in one element of the storyline. This did not detract from Savages writing, for she deserves the 5 stars.
If you love shifter paranormal novels with lots of hot, steamy sex scenes & a passionate romance. Then this book is perfect for you.
If you like shifter books, even if you don't, I highly recommend this one. Cat is a lone shifter running from her past. Killian saves her and allows her to feel safe. He soon learns the secret that she is holding. Cat is determined to be that loan shifter but the pack accepts her and allows her to feel safe.
There was so much to this story. It was about the hunky alpha male and the women who gave him a run for his money but encompassed so much more. It is about acceptance, tragedy, love, family betrayal and vengeance. The pack is a group that will protect all of their own but what happens when one betrays all of the others?
This story was plenty of action and suspense and great characters that will pull you in.
Cat is a shifter and she is trapped in a cage but she has been running for six years ever since her parents were murdered. Killian has gotten a call to save a wolf who is withering away and he meets the most exquisite wolf he had ever seen. Cat trusts no one but Killian kind of forces it on her being a pack leader and trying to get her to join them. She agrees to stay as long as they teach her to fight to avenge her parents. One of the girls in the pack hate her and have no problem picking a fight. When Killian convinces her he can help they go to her former home and find what her parents were killed for.i really admired how strong Cat was and also how Killian thought things through before acting on them. Great story fun escape Reviewed on behalf of Once upon an Alpha
Lost in Vengeance, Wolf Creek Shifters Book #1 by H. R. Savage
I was given the ebook from the author for an honest review but I did purchase the audio book to listen too.
I am a sucker for a shifter series. I also loved this authors dystopia book and so I politely begged for this book as well. LOL I will say I am very excited for a new to me series to continue to read. The narration for this story was enjoyable. Sometimes, you can get a narrator who you just don’t think fits the story, but Skylar Summers hit each voice perfectly. I really enjoyed her Scottish accents.
Before I start the story review I will say there are times I felt the story did drag a bit BUT since this is the first book in the series, I chalked it up to world and character building. The excessive details about random things would pull me out of the story at times but over all I still liked the story and am ready for book 2.
Killian finds a feral shifter who is being held in a human zoo/sanctuary when he goes to get her. Right from the start he knows she is different but does not understand how or why. We meet Catrina who has been through the biggest loss of her life and is scared. She was hidden away while her parents were being killed and then ran…for 6 years in wolf form.
We see Killian, Jamie and the rest of the pack welcome Catrina and try to help her acclimate to the human world again. We also see the chemistry between Killian and Cat. Its very instant they have a drive to touch and see each other all the time.
We soon deal with pack jealousy over Killian’s obvious affections for Cat. We see Cat making friends and forming family/pack bonds even if she denies it. But Cat is looking for revenge against those who killed her parents.
We soon meet the “bad” people but don’t understand what is happening except we know they want Cat. I will say as the story starts to unfold with who is looking for Cat, her past is opened up and we learn about her parents and life pre-murder, you cant help but feel sorry for her and all her loss. However, seeing Killian stand and support her even if his wolf gets a smidge jealous made me giggle….oh Killian.
The end of the story was super interesting. I liked the twist of what made Cat “special”. I also look forward to Aiden and learning more about him. But first up is Jamie in book 2 and I feel like Mr. Playboy isn’t loving being single after all he says.
Lost in Vengeance is an incredibly raw and wondrously fabulous original take on shifters and the world of the paranormal. It is beautifully refreshing and wonderfully breathless journey of the depths of the heart and soul. My heart was stolen from the beginning, and I never wanted it back. Nothing prepared me for the wickedly entertaining twists and turns. I absolutely fell in love with this stunning new series, and I can’t wait to read more!
Killian and Cat rung every single emotion from my very soul, and I loved every minute of it! They are fantastic characters whose heart-wrenching journey left me utterly and wonderfully vulnerable to their beautiful hearts. They struggled and fought for every inch of ground they claimed, and there was no doubt that they earned whatever happiness they could find. Their fierceness left me breathless, and their brokenness left me in need to fix them somehow. I was left utterly entranced and in love with these truly wonderful characters who breathed life into my tired and hopeless heart.
H.R. Savage has thrown my world into pure bliss and utter happiness. I love being challenged, and she offered me more than I could chew in this imaginative and pulse-pounding masterpiece. I was left in shock and filled with an immense joy to have found such a precious treasure! I look forward to reading more from this wildly talented and incredible beautiful author who has light my heart on fire!
Lost in Vengeance is a very well written Shifter book by H. R. Savage. The author drew me into her book pretty much from the very first page. This book has a captivating plot that keeps you reading on and makes it difficult to put the book down. I like how it mostly focuses on character development and secondary has a nice underlying mystery behind it. There were some twists hidden but some of them I I admit I did see coming but they were well thought through in any case. There was a quite a lot of steam packed into the story and a good dose of action as well.
Cat is an adorable character and you can't help but be her cheerleader! She is extremely strong and you can see how much she struggles to try and pull her walls down just a little. I love how much character development goes into her in this book. Killian is nothing but lovable and how can you not wish he exists!!!! There are a lot of other characters like Kelly and Jessica who have smaller parts but are just as important. I am not sure where this series will got but I think it is of to a good start and will definitely tune in when the next one comes out!
I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)
This was really wonderful and great!! I totally loved this! The story feels so full and complete, and the story was interesting right from the opening scene! Lost in Vengeance has suspense, love, mystery, and H.R. Savage did an excellent job with wolf shifters; something I have read a lot of books about, but Savage's story felt unique and new to me. The story is intriguing, and the writing is top notch. Cat is a dynamic character, and at times I just wanted to shake some sense into her, but she's also strong. The romance is a slow burn, but once it gets going, woo! it's a hot one! Cat and Killian have some heat! Killian is terrific too, and when he turns on his alphaness, Ooo boy! that was some sexy stuff! I loved that both Cat and Killian already are part of the wolf shifter world, so that wasn't a problem for the two, and I actually would've loved if there were even a few more scenes with the shifters in wolf form. It's always such fun when the shifters are in their animal form. I even loved the complexity of the villains! I also listened to this book in audio form, and the narrator did a really great job, and I think she did a good job of bringing the story to life. I'll definitely be reading the next book in this series, and any other books by H.R. Savage!
Catrina was 17 when her pack (mom and dad) were attacked and killed in Alaska. They hid her and she escaped. She traveled as a wolf for six years. An Alpha came to where she had been caught by humans and took her to his Sanctuary for wolves. She stayed in her wolf form for several days before she finally transformed. She wanted to train so she could kill whoever took her pack. Killian wants Cat in the worse way; and he finally takes her innocence. She now belongs to his pack and they plan on helping her find the killer. They also found something else at the old cabin a necklace with magical properties. Others are looking for the amulet and will do anything to possess it. A traitor, a family member, and a witch will all lead Cat to the answers she needs and to face her revenge. Who will it be? What is so important about the medallion? Who else will die for its secrets? Will Killian and her get their HEA? I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
*WARNING* contains explicit adult sexual situations Cat is a wolf shifter who heard her patents get murdered in their own home. Cat has stayed in her wolf form for six years hoping to catch the scent of the murders to get vengeance, also because she trusts no one. Alpha of the Wolf Creek pack goes anywhere there is a wolf in need of help so if it is a shifter, he can get them away from humans. I thought this book was okay. The reason Cat's parents were killed is new, not something I've read before. The biggest problem here for me was the repetition of Cat's feelings. Seems like at least one full page in every paragraph is her character say "i'm not pack" "it's my fight" and on and on in that context, it made the story a bit boring for me.
Good but didn't love any of the characters. The h has been hiding as wolf for years, when the H finds her. He brings her to his small pack to help her to heal and recover her ability to shift to human. The h is secretive, shy and frightened, and they all find it hard to connect with her, so did I. But for the H was even more difficult for me to connect, he felt so shallow to me. Knew he had reasons for being so isolated but the reveal felt light weight. I liked the adventure but the book dragged out a bit too long, and I struggled to connect to the characters.
Catrina has been in her wolf form and with out a pack for many years. Killian vows to help her and uncover her secrets. As she opens up to him and finally realizes the pack will stand behind her. As she learns to trust the pack she wants to solve her parents murder.
Great shifter read with suspense, action, family, betrayal, love and romance. A alpha male and a lost, but strong female make this a great read.
This is the first time I have read anything by H.R.Savage and I loved it. I thought it was very well written and I didn't want to put it down. It just keeps you wanting to know what happened and what is going to happen. I would definitely recommend this book.
I wasn't too sure about this book when I downloaded it. But it turns out, this book is awesome. I love and hate the characters. They make you feel like you're standing in the room with them. Great read.
This was a great story. If love of family ripped away and the love of a new family to help heal what was taken. To have the patience to show a person that not all are evil and it is okay to love again. Very touching story made me laugh and cry. Great read.
This is a great shifter book. It has action, suspense, a handsome Alpha, a lost woman/wolf wanting revenge, a jealous pack member, witches, an evil woman shifter with an agenda, and hot steamy scenes. This is the first book in the series and I plan on reading more.
At start 5 stars, middle kinda slow, but solid 4. Would reccommend Great sex and scenes in wolf form 😊 i love shifter books, where they actually do something in their wolf form also -how they act etc
Title: Lost in Vengeance Series: Wolf Creek Shifters Destination: Book 1., 277 Pages Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: H.R. Savage Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN #WolfShifters #5Stars☆☆☆☆☆ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Wow to be honest with you, I really didn't expect this, since I have never read any book from this author before so I didn't know what I was getting into but I have to say I'm glad I took the chance this lady's book was absolutely amazing I can't even put enough words together to describe her writting. This book has Adventure, Survival, Fear, Jealousy, Betrayal, Suspense, Mystery, Murder, Action Packed, Loyalty, Hate, Lust, Love, Hero's and Strong Heroine's. Yes, I definitely recommend this Must Read Book. Ms. Savage sure deserves more than five stars that's for sure. Catrina Macintyre aka: Cat is a Wolf Shifter but not just any wolf shifter a very rare shifter. Something traumatic happened to her so she wouldn't shift back, she didn't feel safe no matter where she went, nothing was safe, how could she trust anybody she didn't know. She became a loner for a very long time, then she was captured they put her in a big cage, she didn't eat, she didn't sleep, she just wanted to be free and safe. Then another wolf shifter came, he put her in another cage she didn't know what to think of him he kept saying to her everything was going to be okay, could she trusts him? There's people all around her they were shifters too, could she trust them. She could walk around in the house, they gave her a bed in a room, no chains, no cages. She sat in the corner with food to eat lots of food, Cat slept good for the first time in six years. Killian Stone was traveled to Alaska than to the Canadian Yukon, a month ago he was contacted to see if you could come see there she wolf who was a loner and could be put with others. In Big Bear, California, Killian had started his own wolf sanctuary five years ago called Wolf Creek. What human didn't know was while he did have wolves on his preservation he was also Alpha of his shifters the Wolf Creek Pack. He would go when called in case it was a wolf shifter that needed help. Many times it was a regular wolf but not today this little lady was a shifter. Did Killian bite off more than he could chew? Was he endangering his pack taking in a lone wolf? Could he keep his paws to himself? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
Eeek! This book! Where do I even start? Cat and Killian's story is not your average shifter love story. Cat is not your sappy "I fell in love with the Alpha and I need him to protect me" women. I love her strong will and determination. Killian is a man you do not want to piss off and I love how he can balance being a softy (towards Cat) but still a total badass. The feels in this book...OMG! The storyline is perfectly written and well balanced with just the right amount of steamy love making. I rated this book 5 stars because there wasn't a choice to go higher. This is a must buy for any shifter lover! BRAVO H.R. Savage this book is absolutely amazing!
Cat and Killian are a fantastic read! Lots of action with characters so well developed. The story was a fresh approach and Cat was such a likeable character that I will definitely be looking for more books by this author. Killian was also a great character to read about and had charm and personality. The secondary characters in this book also made impressions and added to the story that was hard to put down. This is the first book I have read from this author but will not be my last. I look forward to more Wolf Creek Shifters. I received a copy of this book from the author and am giving a voluntary honest review
Cat wants revenge. She's been roaming for six years as a wolf. She was captured and Killian rescued her from a cage. Cat finally turns back into a human. She's so skinny and boney. Killian falls in love with Cat. He helps her to become a part of the pack. The pack helps Cat with her problems!
I actually really liked Lost in Vengeance even though I haven't read many books with shifters before. The story line was really good.
I loved how descriptive H R was when they turned to wolves and how Cat wasn't afraid to stand up to Killian even though he was The pack Alpha. I loved how Killian was protective over Cat right from the beginning.
