This is to Company Command what “Assignment Pentagon” is to staff work. There are great, and timeless, lessons in the work but many lessons and bits of advice are obsolete—yes, property records are now kept on a computer. Much has changed in the admin world since this was written in 1994. The admin stuff should be updated or removed altogether.
The “War Stories” were a nice touch and the synopsis and references at the end of each chapter make for quick recall and source identification.
Overall, this is a far better read than “Assignment Pentagon.” 3-Stars.
Taking command in 5 days and read this book over the weekend, it has some good stories and some really solid advice. My 1SG recommended it and I particularly like chapter 3.
