The only thing Rowan Beale ever wanted was to be a cop. But in the wake of her partner’s death, she still hasn’t been cleared to return to duty. Amid rumors of PTSD and struggling under the weight of survivor’s guilt, she’s starting to believe she never will be. Already at loose ends, when her Uncle Robert has a heart attack, she doesn’t hesitate to go to Wishful to take care of him.

Reserve officer Nash Brewer is a born care-taker, so of course he pitches in after his neighbor and mentor has heart surgery. But it’s not just the former Wishful Police Chief who needs his help. Robert’s strong, gutsy niece is hurting and haunted—and someone’s been targeting her. Nash can’t help but fall as he and Rowan investigate, while keeping the secret from her fragile, but sharp-eyed uncle.

When evidence points to Rowan herself as the perpetrator, the former Navy pilot knows in his gut there’s something more going on. But how can he ignore the facts of the case? And how can Rowan stand for one more person to believe she’s unstable, especially the man she wants to trust with her heart?

While this is a novella it is a complete and enjoyable story. Nolan manages to pack a punch in terms of giving a nice mix of romance, suspense, and small town feel. I love that she has crafted Rowan as a strong, intelligent, & competent woman who does not need to be rescued but is complimented by the equally qualified Nash.

This was a fun adventure I read in an afternoon and I’m looking forward to jumping right in to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.

Note: Kait Nolan’s Wishful and Wishing For A Hero series intertwine. Nolan has this nifty spreadsheet on her website showing the chronological order if you’re obsessive like me. While there are a few mentions of events & characters from book 1, Make You Feel My Love and a few of the Wishful citizens from other books – this absolutely stands well on its own.

After the amazing first book ( If I didn't Care) this one really fell very short for me .. I really couldn't root for Rowan and Nash, don't get me wrong I liked Rowan she is amazing .. but the relationship ? not so much
it was a very short book and it was ok I guess but I really couldn't enjoy it as much as the first book

So, I’ve listened to A LOT of Kati Nolan stories. I love the narrator, and I love the southern charm In Kait Nolan’s books. They’re getting a little predictable by now, but I mostly don’t care because the books have a great blend of sweet, steamy, and humor.

But this one had a poor ending that had me rolling me eyes. The whole “my phone died because I didn’t have a charger” and the ensuing miscommunication was trite and ridiculous. Every freaking gas station has charge cords and adapters for your car.

Anyway, I mostly enjoyed this one but I may take a little break from this series (and the plethora of spin offs/related series) for a while.

Rowan always wanted to be a cop like her great uncle, Robert, but now her partner is dead and her career hangs in the balance. To make matters worse, Robert has had a second heart attack. As she returns to Wishful to take care of Robert and hopefully prove to her police department she's fit for duty, she meets an ally, the first since her partner's death and her whistle blowing.
Nash had met Rowan before but hadn't gotten the chance to really get to know her. Now she's here to help his neighbor, Robert. But when trouble follows Rowan to Wishful, Nash offers his help and support.. As they try to determine what's going on, sparks fly. Their chemistry is off the charts and they enjoy each other's company. He makes her forget her troubles for a little while. But everything isn't as it seems? Is she fit and sane or a greatly disturbed officer who lost her partner? Can he make her believe all will work out when the evidence says differently or just disappears?

Watch Over Me By Kait Nolan

First book by this author and I really enjoyed it, the h went through something terrible while on duty and is being harassed due to allegations that she made but is also being accused of being unstable. After her uncle falls ill she takes the time off that her psychologist is forcing on her and hopes that while being there for him she will hopefully feel better herself, during this time she develops a bond with Nash her uncles neighbour, and someone who believes her even though someone is trying very hard to make her seem unreliable.
With its twists and turns, revelations and holy damn what's going to happen next moments, this was a damn page turner ❤️

Rowan Beale is a cop in Houston, but has been on a desk duty since she and her partner were ambushed and he died and she was in the hospital. She has to see the police psychologist and given her approval before she can go back to active duty. Unfortunately she had been knocked out before she was rescued and heard a police officer that was high up in his department talking and asking why she wasn’t killed yet. When she was well, she let her boss know what she heard and the officer is being looked at by IA. Her fellow officers were harassing her and calling her a whistleblower. When she was with the psychologist, she received a phone call that her uncle had a heart attack and was in surgery. Nash Brewer who was her father’s neighbor had volunteered to fly to Houston and pick her up.

Rowan was close to her uncle and had become a policewoman because of him. Nash was close to her uncle and offered to help any way he could. Rowan offered to stay with her uncle when he got home from the hospital since her boss wanted her to take time off. Everyone in Houston was trying to convince her she was crazy, so this was going to be nice getting away. Nash worked part time as an officer in Wishful and understood what she was going through. I hated how her fellow officers treated her in Houston. The small town police department was the opposite of how they treated their fellow officers. There are some surprises in the book. I loved it and strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

What can you I say about Kait Nolan stories they always leave you feeling wonderful and totally entertained. I just love the characters she brings to life within the pages of her books, I always feel like I know her characters. This is my honest and voluntary review of the ARC book that I have read. This is a short Novella which is full of drama and with a fast-paced story that will have you totally hooked to solve the mystery of Rowan past.

Watch for a Hero is a spin-off to her Wishful series and I love how we get to catch up with some other charters from her other books while sinking our teeth into new stories and characters in this Romantic Suspense series. This is book 2 of the series but the first one I have read.

Rowan Beale is a cop on desk duty after the death of her partner and what happened that night. She is asked to take a leave of absence at the same time she learns her beloved uncle has had a second heart attack. She returns to Wishful to take care of him and give herself space from the department and dramas in her life. But she never thought the problem would follow her to this sweet little town.

Nash Brewer is Robert's neighbor and a reserve officer with the local police station and a Pilot. Nash has the need to help and the desire to help one his neighbor's niece is getting stronger each passing day. He soon learns that she needs more than just help her uncle but that someone is trying to make feel like she is going crazy.

No one believes the things that are happening around her but it looks like she might just have someone she can trust.

Watch Over Me is the second book in the Wishing For A Hero Series and it features a budding romance with a bit of suspense. Rowen has only ever wanted to be a police officer, but a call gone wrong results in a loss of life and possibly even her career. She goes to Wishful to watch over her Uncle, hopefully recover, and Nash is there to help out. Nash is her neighbor, a fellow officer, and also looking to be more than just friends with Rowen. He believes, mostly, that Rowen is innocent, but together can they figure out if the harassing incidents are just a result of PTSD, or is Rowen in danger?

Oh my gosh, this book has so much heart and emotion mixed in with enough intrigue and suspense that I could not stop reading this book! Rowen is so strong and independent, but I loved when she showed her more vulnerable moments with Nash. My heart hurt knowing the pain and uncertainty that she was going through, but I loved the faith that Nash had in her. Nash was the perfect combination of optimistic, realistic, and caring, with an large dose of strength, and a solid sense of self and doing what’s right. I definitely need a Nash in my life! This is just overall a really great read, perfect to curl up to with a cup of coffee or by the pool, and it was a fantastic addition to the Wishful World!

ARC for honest review with no compensation, received from Booksprout

Watch Over Me is book 2 in Wishing for a Hero series by Kaitlin Nolan and is another well written, suspenseful, page turner book!

Rowen Beale is a police officer in Houston and after her partner is killed she accuses another officer as being a "dirty cop" but of course IA thinks she is suffering from PTSD and she has to a get help before she is released back to work. Little does she know that a lot of people are working against her and facilitating the PTSD, which she may not be suffering from...so when her great uncle suffers a heart attack she decides to take leave and take care of him but trouble follows her back home.

Nash Brewer, a retired Navy pilot, part time reserve officer and a caring neighbor for Rowen's uncle meets Rowen again and the attraction he felt for her from before is still there. He is determined to pursue her but she is determined to get her life back and return to Houston as a police officer with no attachments to anyone. That is until trouble comes to town that she thought was only in Houston..will she let Nash help her discover who is behind her troubles and bring them to justice, show her she belongs in town and with him forever or will she just let the bad guys win and lose the one thing she has always wanted..to be a police officer??

This standalone story takes us back to Wishful. Our main characters are Rowan Beale and Nash Brewer.
Rowan, a police officer in the Houston, PD, has yet to be cleared after the death of her partner. When she accuses another police officer of being part of the group of bad guys who killed her partner, she is sent to a psychologist who has not cleared back to duty and implies she is suffering from PTSD. No one believes her and her co-workers don’t trust her. When her great uncle, former police chief of Wishful, has a heart attack, she takes a leave of absence to be his caretaker.
His neighbor, former Navy pilot, and now part-time police officer in Wishful when he is not flying clients for his business, starts a friendship and is determined to help her in whatever way he can.
The story is engaging, filled with suspense, and a blossoming romance. The characters are complex , especially Rowan, who has to work twice as hard in a man’s world , a world she loves but might need to give up.
Kudos to the author in doing a great job of creating a story that in just a few pages, is complex and entertaining.

I love all of Kait's stories that bring the charming little town of Wishful, Mississippi to life, but have been anxiously waiting for another of her Wishing For a Hero novels since I read Judd and Autumn's book. Watch Over Me is short with the typical amount of sexy inside. Because of its length it the proportion is higher than normal, so if that bothers you be forewarned. Rowan is a big city cop that comes to Wishful on a mandated break after a call that went horribly wrong. Nash is an ex military pilot who recently moved to Wishful and his neighbors with Rowan's great uncle, Robert. I loved Nash and Rowan's relationship. I was sad that we didn't get to see the whole thing play out, they met once before the book started, but their chemistry is evident. The mystery of the novel kept me guessing until the end, and I definitely not see the answer until Rowan herself figured it out. Overall, Watch Over Me is another brilliant sweet, heartbreaking, made for sobbing romance novel from Kait Nolan. The shorter length meant that we did not see many of the Wishful characters that I have come to know and love, but it did mean that I devoured it in one night, bawling for most of it.

A sweet and sexy romantic suspense story

This book has a little bit of everything just like you would expect from a good romantic suspense story - sweet moments, strong friendships and family, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous high stress situations, and over the top alpha protectiveness. Rowan is a police officer in Houston. She is on desk duty and under the care of the department shrink following the death of her partner and her reports of harassment. Nash is a private pilot and reserve officer in Wishful. Nash is next door neighbor’s with Rowan’s uncle. Since she’s put on leave for PTSD, Rowan comes to Wishful to care for her uncle after his bypass surgery. But Rowan’s problems seem to have followed her to Wishful. While the bad guy in the story was easy to guess, that did nothing to diminish the ratcheting up of the suspense or the enjoyment of the story. This book did a great job of balancing the romance with the suspense making both important and integral parts of the story. I especially enjoyed that Rowan is not some damsel in distress waiting to be rescued, she has been rescuing herself and others for years. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Unsurprisingly Kait Nolan does it again, a sweet and endearing, and yet tense and compelling, small town romantic suspense novella.

This is the second in the Wishing for a Hero series, and and there was an abundance of heroes to be found. The strong, yet vulnerable Rowan, a big city cop from Houston who has been having difficulties after a police incident and an internal affairs investigation into one of her colleagues. In addition, the quietly supportive and protective Nash, who will always have her back and ensure she doesn’t have a manage alone anymore. And even Rowan’s great uncle and ex-chief of police, Robert, he won’t let a little thing like a heart attack get in his way.

This story might be short, but it packed full of excitement, intrigue, and betrayal; as well as loyalty, friendship and family. I highly recommend this book... as well as all Kait Nolan books!

I love Kait Nolan's books! No matter the characters or the storyline, I find that as soon as I start reading, I can't put the book down before I've reached the back cover. And once again, this story does no disappoint! Watch Over Me is another sensational and well-thought-out story that had me intrigued from the very first moment. Rowan is a strong and independent woman that many of us can relate to and the fact that she is attracted to the very handsome Nash, makes her even more relatable. Wishful is portrayed, once again, as a beautiful and welcoming community that I wish I was part of. Nolan continues to build such strong and meaningful relationships that I can never see myself tiring of her writing. I highly praise this book and you should definitely start reading it immediately!

This second book in the Wishing for a Hero series still takes place in Wishful, the lovely Southern small town I've fallen in love with, is placed chronologically by the author after the ninth book of the Wishful Romance (WR) series. It's a well written and sweet suspenseful romance novella with great characters. As is the case for most of Kait Nolan's books, there is some sex, but it's more natural and less over-the-top than that of many secular romances. Anyhow, I have determined that the reason why the author separates the Wishing for a Hero (WH) books from the Wishful Romance books is because the WH books contain a large thread of suspense while the WR books don't; since I love both genres, I will happily continue to read more of both the Wishful Romance series and the Wishing for a Hero series until there are no more.

Danger follows… Rowan, a Houston police officer, has been put on official leave. Her department believes that she is suffering from PTSD and doesn't believe she is being harassed nor believe her accusations against a senior narcotics officer. When her great uncle Robert suffers a severe heart attack, she goes to take care of him. Nash, her uncle's neighbor, is happy to bring Rowan to Wishful. Nash has been attracted to Rowan for a long time. When Rowan starts experiences harassment again, Rowan is afraid that she won't be believed. I received a free copy of this book from the author via Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is another wonderful romantic suspense book by Kait Nolan. I enjoyed the book very much. I highly recommend this book and series.

I have to say I have fallen in love with small, Southern town life both in Wishful and where I moved two years ago. Wishful is so like where I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Kait Nolan has that small town down pat.

I was so excited to read Watch Over Me. I always wonder how city folk adapt to living, even if only for a while, to small town life. Rowan definitely gave me a taste for what that must be like while she was in Wishful from Houston to help take care of family. I also have to say I am now looking forward to reading more about Wishful and another transplant in a next book from Nolan.

Through the book it felt like rowan was handled like a kid who's playing make believe and everyone doing the "you're the prettiest princess there ever was"
I mean she is a strong female character I admit it but you don't have to point it out every single page. It lost the appeal. It seemed forced at the end. Take the sex scene between Rowan and Nash. He's describing like "it's taking everything in him to not take the rein of control" it was like he's giving her the control while degrading his own. It rubbed me the wrong way. As the fight scene between them. It described like rowan was in control cause Nash was going easy. I liked Nash, seriously I did. But I think it could have written differently.

This is the story of Rowan and Nash. Rowan is a cop in Houston who is in the middle of some trouble, so comes home tot are care of her great uncle who has just had a heart attack. Nash takes this opportunity to get to know the woman he became interested in last time she was in town, but perhaps trouble will follow her.
I really liked the characters in this book- they were realistic and interesting. There was enough heat to keep things interesting without making the book embarrassing. I also liked the plot line as it had some interesting twists to it!
I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys cop romance or small town romances.

Rowan is having a tough time, fighting to prove that their was foul play that resulted in her partners death. When she is forced to take a leave of absence, it couldn’t come at a better time. Her uncle has suffered a heart attack and she can take care of him and also regroup.
Reserve office and pilot Nash was attracted towards Rowan when he first met her. Though the circumstances are not perfect, he doesn’t want to lose the second chance he has been given.
Though a quick read, Watch over me has all the aspects of a full length novel. It is intriguing, suspenseful, has romance, chemistry, family and drama. I would happily recommend this book to all.

My biggest complaint? I wanted to stay in Wishful longer.
I devoured this novella in short order. It is part of the suspense line that's set in our favorite Mississippi town. If I had another complaint, it would be that there wasn't a huge suspense element. Our shero knew who the bad guy was but she couldn't catch him.
The chemistry between Rowan and Nash was immediate and HOT. I would have liked to delve more into his backstory and what made him tick. He lacked the roundedness of most of Nolan's other male leads.
Mostly I loved this story and hope the next installment in the stand-alone-but-you'll-want-to-read-them-all series hits shelves soon.

As an ARC reader, this is my honest opinion. Watch Over Me, was a wee bit different in that there was suspense while looking into the criminal mind. Not the suspense to see who is staring in the next play or what project will come up at town hall. I'm glad Nash got his chance in this story. A chance at a "Happy For Now". I love that there is normally no cheating or cliffhangers either. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of Nash and Rowan in my next visit to Wishful. Overall quality of writing was excellent. Cover was simple sweet, and I won't recap the synopsis for that was well done in letting you know what you will be reading about. Enjoy

Rowan is a strong female lead character. She has gone through a traumatic event with the loss of her partner. I knew that her and Nash were connected the moment he believed all the harassment she had experienced on her job. Nash seemed like he was a laid back guy. I liked seeing that he so much more. The two lead characters were good together and I enjoyed the suspense of the story. It was great to get a little different view of Wishful. I found out that I like the more suspenseful set of stories set in Wishful as well as Kait Nolan's lighter Wishful series. I hope there will be more in this series. Watch Over Me, by Kait Nolan, is great! I read an ARC and am happy to provide this review. The story sweeps you away to a small town with 'real' people- characters you can care about and enjoy. The suspense adds just the right touch of adrenalin, opportunity for growth and revelation, plus a catalyst for deepening the relationship, but it isn't traumatic. The romance is believable and the physical connection masterfully and movingly described. It isn't a very long story, but it didn't feel sparse in detail or particularly rushed. It was just right for an escape from the drudgery. I thoroughly enjoyed Watch Over Me!

This book certainly took me by surprise - very different than Kait's Wishful and Meet Cute series. I was expecting a light-hearted romcom, but this was so much more. I could feel the angst of the characters dealing with death and injury (mental and physical). Rowan and Nash were fabulous characters and I loved how Nash refused to see Rowan as broken, even if she thought it a time or two. I could have gone for a much longer Rowan and Nash story simply because I thought they were fantastic. Kait packed a lot into this novella and I can't wait for the next one!

Kait Nolan is an outstanding author and it shines in every single one of her stories. In Watch Over Me, we have two characters that are inexplicably drawn to one another, but broken pieces in their lives do not allow them to easily make any decisions. I found the suspense that was added into the story line was well done and fell in line perfectly with the characters. It kept me interested and I just had to know what was next, who was involved, and how this story would finally come together. I loved the cast of characters, each with their own unique quirks that were well thought out. Another great story by Kait Nolan!!
