Can things get any worse? I've always had bad luck, from the moment I was born and my mother died in childbirth. I never should have driven all the way from Florida to meet a guy I met on the Internet. Now, I’ve made things even worse. That huge man getting out of his truck doesn’t look too happy, which isn’t really surprising since I smashed into his vehicle… Publisher’s This steamy romance contains elements of humor, power exchange and sensual scenes. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.
Best-Selling author, Stevie MacFarlane, has been writing in her spare time for more than twenty years. It wasn’t until 2012 that she decided to submit some of her work for publication. Since then she has been nominated for several awards and has frequently hit Amazon’s list of Most Popular Erotic Authors. While most of her stories are on the sweet side, she never fails to add just enough kink and humor to keep her loyal fans clamoring for more. Her alter ego also writes Daddy Dom novels under the pen name of Markie Morelli. Stevie lives in rural upstate New York with her husband. Just Her Luck was another well written and funny story by Stevie MacFarlane. I love her books! The storyline was filled with great interactions between Chas and Babe. Chas is dominant, protective and loving. Babe is endearing, funny, and always seems to find trouble. At times she seems like a "little" in her behavior while at other times she is brave and grown up. She seems to be a disaster waiting to happen with little regard for her health and safety, but Chas has just the cure for her behavior. With a firm hand to Babe's bottom Chas guides her and protects her along the way. This story had me giggling from start to finish just hoping that this couple would find their happily ever after. With love, spankings, endearing characters, and chemistry from page one, Babe's antics and Chas' reactions made this a 5 star read! I highly recommend this book for a fun evening! I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book.
This was a sweet story by Stevie MacFarlene. It progressed rather quickly and unbelievably, but it was a fun read. The plot was pretty basic but kept me interested while reading. Chas was a bit pompous and high handed with Babe after so soon meeting her. This made the unrealistic nature of the story a bit harder to believe and read. However, still a good read.
I GUESS THE DEVIL I KNOW IS BETTER THAN THE ONE I DON’T
I enjoyed this emotional and oft times comical story of two unlikely people crashing into each other. Well, the crash was a motor vehicle accident, but the end results are the rest of the story. Oh yes, there are many double entendre there!
Roberta or Babe to her friends could be the poster child for bad luck. Her entire life, starting with her birth and the death of her mother during childbirth has plagued her with issues. A father who never got over the loss of his wife drank himself to death by suicide by vehicle. An aunt who became her guardian, but never wanted her, and kicked her out as soon as she turned eighteen and finished school. A group of friends and roommates that really were only trying to recruit her as an escort because of her young looks. And then a trip to New York to meet a man who wasn’t what he portrayed. Imagine that!
Chas MacKenzie has his own home, his own business, and a brand new truck. Living in upper state New York, he is used to snow and icy conditions. But then he is t-boned by a rust bucket, with a feisty little driver from Florida with no insurance.
The plot will have Babe meeting a man on the internet and leaving her life in Florida to drive to New York to see if they would match. Well, he wasn’t anything like his profile or picture, and she is scared and leaves as quick as she can. Unfortunately, she loses control of her car, totals it, when she hits a new pickup truck. Now she must deal with no vehicle, no insurance, no money, and an irate man.
Chas may not be happy about his truck, but he isn’t a cruel man, and if there was ever a soul who needed help, it is Babe. She has a backpack of clothing not fit for New York weather, no money, and no place to go. What is a man to do? He takes her home and takes care of her, his style. He is a dominant man, works as an EMT, and has his proclivities.
The story has so many comical, laughing out loud moments with the antics of Babe that keeps the pages turning as this tale unfolds. The girl is a walking talking accident that happens too frequently. She has never had much guidance in her life, and it seems as if a dark cloud follows her. Chas doesn’t start out with the intent of starting a relationship with her, just to help her out, but it changes the more time they spend together. He guides her in this D/s exploration relationship. While Chas prefers to call her Baby, rather than Babe, this really isn’t an age-play story.
The tale includes Chas and Babe’s interactions that include many spankings, mostly because of her bratty behavior, but also includes medical play, anal, oral, and explicit sex scenes. There is dubious consent, power exchange, and romance involved with a happily ever after type ending.
“You’re spontaneous, inquisitive, curious and resourceful. At times you’re unpredictable and naughty. I love that.”
“You’re going to love it. We both are because against all rhyme and reason we’ve found our perfect match. The one person in the entire world who can give us everything we need. For me that’s you, crash. You’re the one.”

This book is an absolute pleasure to read. It had me chuckling most of the way through it. The two main characters, one a petite woman who should be wearing an I'm a natural disaster t-shirt and the other an architect who also doubles as an EMT, who also happens to have the patience of a saint. And boy is he going to need it. But it also touches on a serious subject, regarding women being coerced to pay a visit via internet dating. It doesn't take over the book, but the message to be careful is there.
Roberta, or Babe, to her friends, is a straight up disaster waiting to happen. No scrap that, she's just one huge walking disaster, all wrapped up in a tiny package. On an icy road, Babe skids and smashes into Chaz' brand new jeep. He is not a happy bunny. Fuming, but needing to make sure the female driving is ok, he's greeted by a pretty woman yelling at him that it was all his fault.
She's tiny and cold and when she tells him why she's on the road wearing the thinnest set of clothing and totally inappropriate footwear for this weather, he fumes a little more. She's travelled hundreds of miles, from Florida to New York, to meet her internet soulmate only to get there and find out that he's not quite what he appears to be, and she escapes from his home when he goes to sleep in order to get away from him. But the man is known to Chaz and not in a good way, so being the chivalrous man he is, he takes her home, at least to get her warm.
But Babe really is a walking disaster. You'll laugh when he tells her not to run. You'll be chuckling when she tries to cook a meal. Smacking your forehead when she falls asleep in front of the fire. And don't even get me started on the wringer. Oh and there are spankings. Lots of spankings.
I am fast becoming a fan of Stevie McFarlane and I do hope that she expands on the other people we met in the book, namely Chaz' hot and hunky friends.
Excellent read.

Just Her Luck is a stand-alone story that’s all about finding a silver lining, finding acceptance, and feeling love. Babe is having some rotten luck - she ran off from a guy she met online, after she moved from her home town and has no money, and to top it all off, she caused an accident. Even though is was Chas’ car she hit, he feels drawn to the troublesome woman, wanting to both protect her and take her over his knee. While trouble continues to follow Babe, could it be that all of her bad luck really just brought her to the man she’s supposed to be with, or is it all just too good to be true?
This book was so sweet and I loved every second that I read it. I loved Babe and I totally understand Chas wanting to give her lots of snuggles, but her sass kept things lively! I loved that he took her in hand, protected her and punished her silly mistakes. While he was never mean, he fully enjoyed some of the torment that he put Babe under, and I loved that he called her baby. Together, they really had a lot of chemistry, in bed and out, and I loved reading their relationship develop from strangers to lovers to much more! Some of the intrigue/drama I wish was better developed, but it gave Ms. MacFarlane the opportunity to fully focus on Babe and Chas. I loved this book and highly recommend it!
Donna L 5.0 out of 5 starsOne Disaster After Another November 1, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition Ms McFarlane has the ability to write books that never fail to entertain and make you laugh. That is definitely the case with this book, how could one person manage to find herself in so much trouble.Babe's life had been one of ups and downs, but mainly downs. Her mother died giving birth to Babe. Her father drowned his sorrow in a bottle and her aunt had no time for a young girl.Babe luck ran out when she ran her rust bucket of a car into Chas MacKenzie's new truck.Freezing cold, with no where to go,Chas took Babe under his wing. The girl had no sense in his opinion, who would come so far to meet a man from the Internet.A man Chas new had a very bad reputation.Chas was a dominant man with a soft side but eventually after one to many disasters,Babe found her way over his knees for the first of many spankings. The book mainly focuses on the growing relationship between Babe and Chas.I like Chas for his warmth, strength and compassion, often in the most trying of circumstances.Babe was just entertaining in a innocent way,it took many lessons by Chas for her to start to think before acting. At the core of it ,this is a well written love story.
I am a huge Stevie fan anyway so I was delighted to see a new book. This one is really entertaining, most of it is played for laughs although, Babe has had a very sad life and really bad luck. She also has shown some pretty poor judgement and choices but when she literally runs into Chas with her run down rattle trap of a car and he decides to take her home to take care of her, that's the best decision she will ever make. Of course she keeps getting into all sorts of scrapes and trouble but Chas falls for her anyway and thank goodness he has enough common sense for both of them. There are some real laugh out loud moments, some very hot and raunchy scenes and some eye watering discipline spankings, what more do you need? Loved it, hope Stevie decides to expand on this community, ie we meet Chas' friends briefly and they are all hot dominant spanking men like Chas, could be good.
a new author for me this story was cute, sweet, very funny, well written and a quick read. while bdsm isn't really my thing I thought the author handled it quite well in a sweet and light hearted fashion with Chas being a dominant person but in a loving manner while Babe who was 22 but very immature and naive for her age was a submissive who wasn't afraid to sometimes be feisty and sassy. While the plot was fairly basic and things escalated quickly being a shorter read, it was entertaining and many times I was chuckling while reading all the escapades that happened to poor Babe who was a very petite woman.
I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest voluntary review.
Just Her Luck by Stevie MacFarlene is a wonderful new book. I love this writer. Her books are so full of emotion. Poor Babe is truly a mess. She is one horribly accident prone woman but she is very lucky to have crashed into Chas. Chas knows a good thing when he sees it and Babe is one of those good things and I love how he cares for this young woman who no one else has ever seemed to care for. This book is also very erotic. I really liked this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Babe is a young twenty two year old that thought meeting a guy over the internet was going to change her life for the better. Then Babe ends up in a car accident and meets Chas that is a giant of a man. Chas feels a overwhelming need to protective Babe from her self and the world. I loved Babe's sass and Chas's remarks. I enjoyed reading this book. This book was full of adventure and submission. I loved the storyline and plot. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a sweet story of Chas and Babe. Babe is a likeable character, but a bit spacey. A cross country trip to meet an internet match, finds her crashing into Chas. Chas is alpha male to the core, stern, yet compassionate, and exactly what Babe needs. The two work really well together.
The story flows really well. The romance is both sweet and hot. The bit of mystery thrown in with Babe's internet connection adds some well placed drama to the story. This is definitely a book worth reading.
Babe is a person who is pretty clumsy. Everything she does ends in some sort of disaster. One day she crashes into Chas who is instantly smitten with her. He sees that she needs help and he feels he is the right man to do the job - even if it means that Babe's bottom will smart for some time.
Babe and Chas do have great chemistry and there is also a lot of emotions. There were scenes that made me laugh so much. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book.
A really cute story about two really nice people – Babe and Chas. She is a really unlucky young woman who has had bad breaks all her life; he is a successful man with a home, business, family and friends. They meet accidentally, and start living together because she has no alternative. The development of their relationship is at times quite funny – and makes for an enjoyable story with some spanking, some loving and a lot of clever banter between them.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. When Roberta crashes into Chas' truck, he know he needs to protect accident prone Babe. She quickly learns that he has no problem burning her bottom for being careless. I loved this book. Chas is strong, dominant, protective and gentle when needed. Spanking, light bondage, anal play. Thank you Stevie MacFarlane for another great read.
Feisty, klutzy pocket brat. Stevie MacFarlane is one of my favorite authors and she's done it again with just her luck. I hate spoilers so I won't go into details. Reasons I enjoyed this book: Happily Ever After, Romantic, Wonderful characters, Page-turner, Unpredictable, Original, Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Action-packed, Steamy, Funny.

This story gave me more than a few chuckles while reading. The comedy came in a kind of slapslick form with Babe being so clumsy & clueless as to almost be a hazard to herself. However, there was a heartbreaking recounting of personal tragedy as well so there was a nice balance of light & depth. I was almost at the end of the read when I was starting to be concerned that a major plot issue wouldn't be resolved, but it finished nicely with the Epilogue. Fantastic short read
I must say this heroine had me laughing, she was truly innocent, naive and adorable. The hero was an alpha, protective and dominant. I love that the book centered on their growing relationship and trust... This book was not romcom funny, it had funny episodes because the heroine was clueless at times. This book would have been a 5 star if there was a longer epilogue. It needed just a bit more.
I love Ms. MacFarlane’s books and boy I loved this one. “Baby” is a sweet, vulnerable mess but she’s also a spitfire and Chas is completely drawn to her. He knows he needs to protect her and that also means disciplining her. I love their relationship. The messes she gets in are funny at times, but other parts are heartbreaking. Such a good story. My only complaint- I wish there were more!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story about a young lady named Babe/Baby who is always having bad luck to the point it is hilarious what happens to her and Chas Mackenzie is Babe' s shining, white knight who she runs into his truck with her car. Stevie MacFarlane I think is a great storyteller with the twists and turns in the plot line and how well developed the characters are.
I read all Stevie MacFarlane's books, why? Because I know I will always become engrossed in the tale and like the characters. This was no exception. It all begins with a minor car accident and then the story rolls on smoothly with humour and sexy romance. If you like tales about sassy young women and kindly alpha males, then I highly recommend you read this book!
A lighthearted, fun story. A guy who seems to have it all together meets his total opposite. They are thrown together, and must stay together, for at least a day or two. Attraction ensues, but can anything more grow between such polar opposite? Check out this fun and sexy romp for a very entertaining read.
Loved this, and laughed at times. Babe was so clumsy. Chas is an adorable Dominant and cares for her literally. Loves spanking her too. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Fun and sweet story with nice storyline and plot. Characters well described. I would have like Roberta to be more adult in her behavior. A quick and easy read.
