Holy matrimony. Tying the knot. Weddings. They happen.
Weddings are defined by love. It’s one heck of a strong emotion that can make people do some outright crazy things - whether they're in love, surrounded by it, or simply adjacent to it when two people say, “I do.”
With love often comes risks, and at an event that’s all about intense passions, people tend to take chances. Especially, when they see that intriguing special someone across the room making their heart do gymnastics.
Is it love? Is it lust? Or just what happens at a wedding?
*What Happens at a Wedding is a collection of fun and sexy short stories from a group of fun and sometimes sexy authors. Or maybe they’re ninjas.*
I’m a lover of all things books, a hopeless romantic, and have always had a passion for writing. Between being a sappy romantic, my love of an HEA, my crazy imagination, and ok, let’s be real, my dirty mind, I fell easily into writing romance. I’m a huge baseball fan and yet, a complete girly, girl. I’m an obsessive reader and have a slight (hahaha! Slight? Yeah, right) addiction to signed books. I’m married to my very own book boyfriend, an alpha male with a sexy, sweet side. He is the best inspiration, my biggest supporter and the love of my life. He is also incredibly patient and understanding about the fact that he has to fight the voices in my head for my attention. I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them!
I really enjoyed this anthology...See my quick reviews of each story below. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read between other things OR just because the stories are really good!!!
Honeymoon Suite by Elle Christensen Jake and Avery meet on the subway. He crashers her best friend’s wedding and their night is super sexy. This is a quick story, but had really GREAT character development. I felt their connection immediately and hope for more of them!!!
Who We Were by Melissa Collins Melissa Collins consistently crafts characters who melt your heart and leave you wanting more...Quinn and Ryan are no different!!! The family drama in this one felt so real and the soul connection of the guys did too! LOVE THIS STORY and can’t wait for the continuation later this summer!!!
Fake It Until You Make It by Renee Ericson Such a cute story. Emma and Beckett are forced to fake date at his sister’s wedding but its not really as fake as either act. Great characters. Great story. Really fell in love with this story!
Mine by Lucy Gage Reid and Finley are looking for their 2nd chance but the same old problem-an old girlfriend-haunts them. This was a cute, quick story and a first for me by this author. Enjoyed it a great deal.
Here’s To You Mrs. Robertson by Jessica Ingro This story is quite a May to December romance. I really enjoyed the viewpoint of the older woman as the main character. This was a nice story with a little twist...and among my favroites in the anthology.
Totally Screwed by Elle Jefferson Desi and Armand had a one night stand but now she’s redesigning his home complete with a nursery. BUT she needs a date to her exes -who cheated on her - wedding and her best friend thinks he’s the perfect candidate! The character connections are strong, but it was hard to tell the female character’s name. The only time it really came up was in text exchanges, but it was still a very enjoyable story.
Malcolm’s Sun by Cheryl McIntyre The epilogue is the best part of this book!! Sunny and Malcolm had one summer then he left. They are reunited at a wedding and are sort of pushed together without their consent, but it might be just what they needed. This is a super cute story with complete storyline.
Just Our Luck by Vanessa Morse I enjoyed this dual storyline about twins Norah and Phoebe. It was cute, fun and heartwarming. This was a first by this author but I will look for more.
Halfway Gone by Tessa Teevan I love this author. Shane and Alyssa are just another couple to never forget. I can only hope for more of them in the future.

We all know weddings……happy times……a couple in love……families coming together……but do we really know anything about the people in attendance??? Who are they??? What brings them to this moment in time to celebrate someone else’s happiness?? Are they happy themselves?? Well, with a different twist to storytelling What Happens at a Wedding: A Short Story Anthology by a composite group of authors (nine to be exact) is a collection of prequels and short stories about….you guessed it….people who attend those weddings.
Now, I must have missed the “A Short Story Anthology” in the title because this book is not what I expected nor something I would normally pick to read. However, with that said, I found stories I really enjoyed and wanted more of (one in particular that was kind of a cliff hanger) and some that were okay, and some I just couldn’t get into, if you know what I mean, so it was easy to skip to the next story. But I think that’s what you get when you have a mix and eclectic group of authors coming together in a book like this. What is interesting is how a group of authors can all take the same subject matter (attendance at a wedding) and write their own story to it. Very intriguing to say the least, and quite honestly, after reading this book, there are a couple of new authors I will be looking for some of their upcoming projects.
Overall each story had their own level of romance, spicy banter between characters, and hot and steamy sex so that every reader will find what they like. For me personally, it was Elle Christensen’s six chapter story that had me flipping through the book for more, going to my internet to see if she was writing this book in more depth…..what…..you can’t leave me hanging here!!! What happened to Avery???? Does Jake find her????
See what I mean? Read it and find yours!
An advance reader copy was graciously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was many short story's all from different authors but all with the same theme. It was crazy how all the authors took the same theme and came up with completely different stories. Really there has to be a story for everyone in this book. I even found a few I hope will turn their short story into a book.
The wonderful thing about anthologies, for me at least, is not only getting to enjoy stories by authors I'm familiar with, but finding new ones to add to my ever-growing list of favorites. There is no shortage of that here. I enjoyed every single tale in this one, some more than others, but each one was at minimum a four-star read for me. Each quick romance takes place around the central theme of a wedding, but the tropes are widely varied. We get second chances, first time romances, M/M, fake romance, and one of my personal favorites, May/December romance. I will say that this collection is not a bunch of all tied up in neat little bows of happily ever after, which surprised me at first. Instead, we get a good mix of open ended, happy for nows, all with one thing in common - Hope, which is what should be present at any wedding and in any romance, old or new. All in all, each of these stories is well-written and entertaining with a good mix of sweet romance and fan yourself sexy.
What Happens at a Wedding is a box set of short stories/Anthology by different authors that tease us with their stories. Although the stories don't completely end in this book it still a great way to get a taste of the author's writing and to have a good ground feel for if you want to find and continues their story. I would almost like to label this as a great sampler for the authors but feel it goes a little past that definition. Overall I found this book helpful with me find new authors and stories to look for.
Just a little taste, like a tapas stroll. It leaves you wanting more. It has a little bit for everyone. There is a friend to lover, M/M, second chance , etc. The nice thing about this collection is that if you find you don't like one story you can skip to the next. You won't need to though. These are all great stories. I liked them all. They are sweet and steamy. Just enough story to make you want to read the rest. I can't wait until the next installment.
This is a collection of novellas that entertained me greatly. While I didn't always appreciate the fact that a few ended in cliffhangers, I really enjoyed that each author put a unique spin on couples getting caught up in the magic that usually happens at a wedding. There are a few couples in here that I definitely would love to catch up on in the future.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
Filled with wonderful stories. Some super sexy and steamy, some sweet. I loved all the different storylines and that they were quick reads! Many talented authors in one Place!
What Happens at a Wedding is a box set of short stories by different authors who entice us with their amazing short novellas in this anthology. You have some stories that are sexy and steamy, some that are lovely and sweet –but what they are all are definitely full of FEELS !! These are quick , short reads that will have you hooked—you will most likely even find a favorite new author if you do not know who all these authors are to begin with. There is a story here for everyone. You have authors in this anthology from Elle Christensen, Melissa Collins, Lucy Gage, Jessica Ingro, Elle Jefferson, Tessa Teevan and a few more. You will find some fantastic reads/authors to choose from.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Review of Who We Were by Melissa Collins I specifically bought this anthology on the sole purpose to read Melissa Collins’ story. I love how she weaves a story keeping you entertained and wanting. Her characters are wounded but so full of spirit. They need a little light and love in their lives. Quinn and Ryan’s story is no different and I can’t wait for the continuation of their story.
What a fun little collection of sexy reads. And what better time for love to be in the air than wedding season! The What Happens at a Wedding Anthology is a perfectly light and easy summer read. I read all of the short stories and enjoyed them all. I'm going to chat a bit about my favorite ones in the collection.
Who We Were by Melissa Collins Sexy. Scandalous. I could feel the tension and heartbreak right along with Ryan and Quinn. When they were forced into each others orbit after years apart, tempers flared and sparks flew. I liked how Quinn stepped up and am so glad there will be more from these two in the future.
Here's To You Mrs. Robertson by Jessica Ingro Rebecca was trying to find her sexy side again. The hands and mouth of a sexy younger man helped her right along. Except that young man happens to be someone both she and her son know, William. Cue the forbidden. The attraction was undeniable and their chemistry was off the charts hot.
Totally Screwed by Elle Jeferson I liked Desi's determination to keep things professional but Armand's persistence and charm wore her down. Especially when she needs a last minute date to a wedding. When the lines between business and pleasure get blurred things are sure to get a little messy or sexy...
Malcom's Sun by Cheryl McIntyre Malcom and Alysun's story had a bit more of an emotional feel to it than some of the others in this collection. They were high school-ish sweethearts that circumstance forced apart. But neither one has been able to get over the other. When they're brought face to face after years apart, all bets are off. The emotional and explosive reunion was just as steamy as it was sweet.
Honeymoon Suite by Elle Christensen is the first and perfect start to this anthology! I really enjoyed this story and I need more of Jake and Avery ASAP!!!
Who We Were by Melissa Collins was next and holy crap! Are all of these stories going to end in cliffies? I don’t know if my heart can handle it! I need the rest of Quinn and Ryan’s story NOW!!
Renee Ericson’s Fake It Until You Make It is super cute and sweet (and gave me hope that all of these won’t be cliffies).
Did not like Fin in Lucy Gage’s Mine, so this one was kinda meh for me...
Jessica Ingro’s Here’s To You, Mrs. Robertson was unique, sexy, and refreshing.
Totally Screwed by Elle Jefferson was another cute story (Desi is confronted with the fact that the one night stand that blew her mind is now her client) with lots of complications that make it entertaining but a tad confusing as well...
Malcom’s Sun by Cheryl McIntyre is my favorite. It gave me all the feels and I need MORE!!!!
This was a great anthology. All the short stories revolve around weddings. Some people are meeting for the first time at a wedding and some are getting a second chance because of a wedding. Either way these were all great stories. I love anthologies because they are a great way to discover new authors. I have found a couple new to me authors in this anthology and look forward to reading more books by them. In fact, all the authors in this anthology are new to me. There are some steamy story, some M/M, some sweet in this anthology but they were all great. I recommend this anthology for sure. I couldn’t get enough once I started. Congrats authors on a great anthology.
In this What Happens At A Wedding I throughly enjoyed reading stories from from new authors. I really enjoyed reading the short story Mine. In this story we catch up with Reid and Fin. Fin and Reid haven’t seen each other in a long time but you still see the chemistry between the both of them. Fin and Reid have a complicated history and this just may be their chance at happiness but Fin has to decide if she will let Reid back in.
I was drawn into this story from the very beginning. I couldn’t wait to see how their story was going to play out and I loved some of the supporting characters in this story. I can’t wait to see how their story will continue on!!!
This is an awesome Anthology with Nine different stories but none amazing author. All have a he's or him ending with all kinds of different troupes. Once I started I couldn't stop.
Really enjoyed reading this book, which includes a short story by one of my favorite authors, Renee Ericson. Her entry, Fake It Until You Make It, follows Beckett and Katie's "date" at his sister's wedding, along with quite a twist ending. Check it out!
Weddings are one of the greatest occasions, because it shows love, faith and trust! So, is it any wonder that even the guests feel the romance in the air?
In this fun and sweet anthology, you'll find, at least, a few wedding stories that you will relate to!
Honeymoon Suite by Elle Christensen
I can't wait to read the rest of Jake and Avery's story!!! At least, I hope that there will be more of the hot couple.
Who We Were by Melissa Collins
If the first story is fun and light, Ryan and Quinn's story will break your heart and fill it with hope, that there'll be a satisfying end to their story.
Fake It Until You Make It by Renee Ericson
I am swooning over Beckett and Emma's story!!! I wabt more of them! This short story is my favorite, so far!
Mine by Lucy Gage
When can I get the rest of Fin and Reid's story?!!!!
Here’s To You Mrs. Robertson by Jessica Ingro
Sexy and wickedly hot!!! I need to book me a spa visit!!!
Totally Screwed by Elle Jefferson
Shirt, sweet, and definitely sexy!!! I'd definitely want to read more of Armand and Desi!
Malcolm’s Sun by Cheryl McIntyre
Sunny and Malcolm is the kind of story that will make you think and swoon! Young love usually gives you perspective, and this story is so about it. It's also one of my favorite reads, even though I'm still wishing for more of their story.
Just Our Luck by Vanessa Morse
I enjoyed this kind of story, where everybody got their own. And this short story really packed a punch of sexiness, swoons and uncanny luck!
Halfway Gone by Tessa Teevan
Shane and Alyssa's story will make you want to snag yourself your own Wellington man! Alas, they're already all spoken for already! But a girl can always dream!
