The Agadon ET race has survived. Earth is about to die.
Too bad for them, Kaden Jaxx is back. To top it off, Jaxx has a secret weapon – a six-year-old girl named Mya who can manipulate energy like no other.
For Jaxx, finding himself back on Earth is great. With his nephew by his side, even better. Their happy reunion lasts an entire ten minutes. Blasts, destruction, and cities in chaos signify one thing: the Agadon live on.
And what makes it worse, Jaxx confronts an enormous task:
Correct the pyramid network across the entire world and save the human race in the process. If he doesn't, death comes knocking...on everyone's door.
Enjoy the last book in the Ascendant Chronicles series.
Brandon Ellis was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up on the outskirts of the city in a little town known as Gladstone, where he graduated high school and moved on to college. After studying Therapeutic Bodywork at East-West College of the Healing Arts, he excelled in his field, becoming one of the Pacific Northwest's leading Therapeutic teachers and bodywork professionals. After several years, the love for writing tugged at his heart so much that he decided to put things aside and live his passion - write. He's now fashioning story after story, creating imaginative worlds of inspiration and art.
A wonderful and heartwarming conclusion to a very entertaining series. Although it concludes with this adventure, there is still room for additional stories if the author is moved to bring them to his readers. I adored being witness to Jaxx and Rivkah's growth as protagonists, friends and eventually partners. The action, laughs and even tears made this a worthy read!
Enigma Atlantis, the fifth book in Brandon Ellis' Ascendant Chronicles Series, was not as mesmerizing as previous books in the series.
I am not an avid reader of this genre and feel a bit awkward voicing my opinion because I worry that my dislikes of Enigma Atlantis may be features which are the building blocks of the genre.
With that said, I found Enigma Atlantis dissappointing - especially after reading and LOVING the previous books in the series. I found myself wondering aloud on more than one occasion "where is the story?"
Three-fourths, if not more, of the book was filled with battle scenes. Honestly, I toyed with the idea of skipping pages and even chapters when it became painfully obvious this book was centered around battle scenes.
Enigma Atlantis was an unusual conclusion to a great story. The story seemed to stall out and instead of continuing the story in this book the author linked a bunch of battle scenes together whereby the battles became the spokesperson for the story and not the characters.
Again, book series such as Ellis' Ascendant Chronicles Series are new to me so my criticisms might be out of line. I'm not a huge fan of this book but the series is an enjoyable read. As far as a recommendation goes - if you enjoy detailed, creative space conflicts reminiscent of those seen in episodes of Star Trek or Star Wars then Enigma Atlantis will delight you! I would not consider this a stand alone read and recommend you read the full series in chronological order.
Wow! I knew this series was ending with this fifth and final book. What I didn't expect was a Happily Ever After ending for the main characters. I don't like (or do) reviews that give away important story details and even this is more than I like to give away. But, it ended so well that I had to comment on it. Every one of the five books in this series has been action-packed to the point you may need to pause to get your pulse and blood pressure back to normal. You really have to read this series from the beginning to get the full enjoyment and understand the many characters and what drives them. The only constructive criticism I'd offer to this author, especially for readers that may be starting somewhere in the middle of his series would be that he include a summary of key factors and events. Otherwise, these new readers may not enjoy a book enough to want to start over at the beginning. I'd suggest to any potential new reader thinking of starting with this book that they would do themselves a favor and start at the beginning. You're actually very fortunate that you can read each book without the normal wait between subsequent books being published. I know I was.
Book 4 (Beyond Atlantis) set a high-bar based on how well it was written. Author Brandon Ellis has managed to keep the momentum going as he leads through another action-filled adventure as Jaxx tries to save his nephew, his friends, the new kids on the block, and (of course) all of the galaxy.
The storytelling kept me going and made this hard to put down. Fortunately, I had part of a weekend to put a sizable dent in the book.
Even with all of the action, there is time for character development and more importantly growth in those characters. The young teach the old and Jaxx finally learns to not try to do everything on his own.
The ending brings closure to many plotlines including some from the previous books. This is a fun series and really needs to be read in its entirety. There is a lot that would be missed and wouldn't make sense if you jumped into Book 5.
Well, I don't know what to say! I am sad that this series is done and over with. Brandon Ellis has taken me, and I'm sure many others, on a marvelous adventure that on some level I did not want this to end. I say "on some level" because I didn't want to see more innocent civilians die, even though this is fictional, but I enjoyed hearing about the Atlanteans and their way of life. And to always read about beings on other words and their possible living conditions is always a fascinating concept. It's always sad to have to say good-bye to some characters you were enjoying, but the story does need to move along somehow. And it was nice to finally know the meaning of Mya's prophecy of Drew and Megan reigning somewhere. Love the fulfilled endings. Thanks Brandon.
I would give the whole storyline an A because it was unique and imaginative. It kept my attention enough to read the whole series. However the writing itself I thought was amateurish. If i were grading the sentence structure, grammar and paragraph development, the writer would get a C or C-. I thought the characters' use of foul language was excessive and usually didn't fit the circumstances, like some people who can't say a sentence without an f-bomb in it. All in all it's a good effort, but i had to skim through it to find out what happens instead of enjoying the writing.
Overall, I enjoyed the series as it was creative and captivating in scope with memorable characters - both heroes and villains. When I bought the original quadrology I was vert pleased ... until the 4th book ended and I had to purchase this book separately to finish the series. The final battle on Earth against the Agadons was done pretty well and the ending went much as expected. Although ... SPOILER ALERT ... the president living at the end of everything ... Come On!!! That was off the charts not realistic given his part in the whole fate of Earth. Sorry Brandon, but that was a definite mistake in my opinion souring the entire effort.
Another chapter in Jaxx's story as he saves the world again. It started out with action as Jaxx, Drew, Megan and Mya are on a mission on Earth and takes off from there. It had a lot of action and a few funny scenes. Mya and Jaxx were rather funny interacting together. Then the story got really crazy, twisted, and a lot of fun. A few answers from questions raised in other books were answered but not all. I liked that I never quite knew what or who would show up next. Just an entertaining story. I liked the series, and liked where the story ended up.
I would have given this series five stars except I hate running into homophones* that are not the word needed.
This series seems, otherwise, to be well written and exciting! (Don't bother going to the Home page listed in the books. You can't contact the author. That page is used to sell things and nothing else.)
(*Words that sound the same but can be spelled different when the meaning is different.)
Just finished reading all 5 in the series and really loved every one of the books this is science fiction at it's finest with some military action thrown in for good measure. If you like book with alot of action and science fiction then you have to get this series.
Review of: Enigma Atlantis (Ascendant Chronicles Book 5
I enjoyed the whole 5 book series. Sometimes, I think we got track to what was important to the goal of the characters had to preform. The main character seemed weaker on Earth than on Jupiter's moon or other planets he was on. All in all good story line e worth reading.
I read all 4 books of the Atlantis Quad after reading the first book,I knew I was in for ride. From that book to the next three You ha every Alien in the universe fighting the Humans. Then all of hotheadedness characters fit in.For the thrill you just need to read the novels to get the space ride.
OMG, I so thoroughly enjoyed all five Atlantis books! Brandon's writing style creates a captivating movie in my mind that I can't put down. I believe it also contains elements of current and future technology soon to be disclosed.
I like this last book better than the first four. Though I still have to laugh at character superficiality (the "genius" Drew, who in five book never had any intelligent moment, comes to mind).
Jaxx is an arrogant Idiot. He never thinks, he never listens, he has the emotional maturity of a 5 year old. This book was boring battle after boring battle with no plot advancement or character development. A terrible ending to an OK series.
Read the series you will love them. I really enjoyed the books and can thoroughly recommend them, I am not one for spoiling the stories as I say to much so just read the series and enjoy
When we left Jaxx and friends, things were not going well. Fear not! This final book of the Ascendant Chronicles ties up all the loose ends as he finally does what he needs to do.
These. Books were quite the ride. The ending wasn't exactly what I expected, which is a good thing. Lots of great characters. Plenty of twists and turns. Good series.... Ron
A very good series of books. Mr. Ellis might not be to far off with his imagination. Who knows, maybe there is some truth behind the pyramid theory. Scientists may discover that they do have an alien technology for transportation through the universe.
Wow! This last book in the series is 200+ pages off non-stop, no time to catch your breath action as Jaxx and his friends engage in a final battle for earth. Sometimes funny, often bloody. never boring, this is perhaps the best book of a really good space opera and a fantastic read.
