Now that she's finally found someone to love and loves her in return there's a good chance its taken away.
My Thoughts: I liked the premise of the story and it flowed pretty well. There was a time in the book where it kinda stalled. This could have been written shorter and been fine. I had a couple issues. Lauren was kinda whiny and went on about her being middle aged and noway would Joe look at her twice. Its not til later its revealed how old she is. Now, I am not vain but I am pretty sure there are some women out there who are really surprised at her age and how the author describes it as middle aged. When I found out her age I was a little shocked and mildly offended. Here is a spoiler. She's 38! That is not middle aged, that would be about 48-50. I'm older than 38 but not close to the real middle aged. When the character went on how old she felt I thought she was close to 50. The author described her hair as having some gray. Well red-heads dont really go gray they go lighter. Its really rare for reds to have grays and even at that its a handful. I realized this probably wasnt well thought out but probably ought to get the RIGHT middle age and know your hair information. Readers will remember its incorrect. I'd hate to be a reader and a 38 year old one at that only to find out thats middle age. HAHA.
Oh my a solution, but such a drastic one. Can it work on every world? But, but is the binding required? And who would do it? Just humans? So many unanswered questions, but a midlife romance with end of life decisions.
It was fine. Not my fav type of alien human romance but i didnt dislike it and i really enjoyed the last 20 percent. Doubt ill read the next book in the series but i will read the RH continuation/spinoff of this. I prefer calista skye and ruby dixon type alien romance and this was a bit too much battle action rather than alien world or romance hence why i loved the last 20 percent. This reads more like an origin story for the series rather than a couple with their own book. I wish it had skipped over a lot of the action or had a more even good stuff bad stuff balance or gotten to the end of this book by 50/70 percent and spent the remainder rebuilding the world and experiencing the local culture and doing the fun exciting stuff and answering questions and idk a cute baby related epilogue or even wedding or sometjing wouldve been nice this felt more like scifci adventure action than a true romance or even alien romance i mean you couldve essentially transferred the story to earth if it was going to be so action based and given that the main male aliens look human 'but better' like pfffft fine but i dont read alien romance for the politics or the human like soldier men id read a friggen military type novel or a paranormal urban fantasy for can pass as human male protag like a vamp or shifter. I mean what exactly besides fighting skills was alien about the dude? They werent fated mates in any concrete way that you get with shifters or like some alien sign were a mark shows up or something idk too much bad stuff not enough good stuff and thats as an action book as a romance its basically nonexistent like ffs. Anyway 3 stars cause i finished it enjoyed the last like 20 percent and i didnt hate it it was just mislabelled as romance and not what i look for in alien romance. So yeah.
I appreciate the author’s concept but the fleshing out the story needs work. She utilized the same descriptive words repeatedly and I was only 11% through the book. ‘Commander Jo’Aquin Centauri –a Commander in the Galactic Federation, Commander of the Starship Starlight.’ - immediately put me into Star Trek; which took me out of the book immediately. I will never know if the writing became better because I won’t finish the book.

What I liked about this book Lauren wasn’t the typical twenty something virgin looking for a “Daddy”. She was a woman who had known loss and was finding her way back to herself. Jo’Aquin was an alien honor bound to protect earth from an invading reptilian species.
There was some very nice elements and good descriptors. What after a while kind of threw me out of the story was how many times Lauren lamented about how old she was…she was thirty eight and no where near being able to get a senior discount anytime soon. She kept flashing back to her deceased husband that died of a terminal illness. So between those two things you got to guess what would be her next lead into a paragraph.
Jo’Aquin also had his share of heartache with his family being victims of the reptilian species. So between the two of them and their almost constant lamenting about these issues just kept things always on the surface.
Once on the planet and dealing with the inhabitants and all of their “mystery” just felt a bit on the convoluted side. “Mother” had loads of secrets and she only imparted them when she felt like it or maybe the author was trying to come up with something.
I think the author was probably channeling a few different sci-fi stories as to the muddled confusion of all of the elements in this story. We only get Lauren and Jo’Aquin’s side of the story plus the inhabitants of the planet they crash-landed on. We don’t really get to know why the reptilians are going around enslaving planets.
There were some really good elements and the story was easy enough to follow however for me there was no really big connection.

This is my first book by Charmaine Ross, and I will probably be on the lookout for anymore books in this series. There were a couple of things that kept me from giving this book 5 stars. First, I got a bit tired of hearing how much Lauren wanted to go back to Earth. Sometimes things just don't work out the way you want them to. She should have just sucked it up and delt with it. Secondly, the middle started to get a little slow. I wanted to put the book down many times, but I held on, and enjoyed the ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of the book, and I received the book through Booksprout.
This is the first book in the Hexonian Alien Abduction series and oh so good! A Commander of the Galactic Federation and the human whose blood may save them all, will they survive and will they allow themselves a future together if they do! Commander Jo'Aquin of the Galactic Federation and his men are tasked with watching over earth to keep them safe from those aliens like the Reptiles who conquer and make them mindless slaves to serve them like they did his sister, the Federation had not yet found out how they were able to make each race a mindless entity to serve them only. They are Huxonians who look like humans but if examined closely the difference is noticeable, so they keep under the radar to stay undetected and to try and keep the Reptilians from enslaving earth as well. Lauren is stranded in the middle of nowhere when her car breaks down and she sees two lights streaking through the sky and realizes they are not common especially when one comes right at her and makes her run away but she is stopped by a Reptilian who drinks her blood then seems to hypnotize her then they are beamed to his ship. Jo'Aquin and his crew realize the Reptilians have a human and they board their ship when they go to open a wormhole into another galaxy, when he sees them putting the human into an escape pod he goes to retrieve her and is knocked into the pod with her, when they land and he comes to they are on an unknown planet and then they are captured by the inhabitants whose shaman tells Lauren that she is the key to freeing the different planets from the mind control of the Reptilians. Jo'Aquin and Lauren are perfect for each other but they both have wounds from their past and their current danger that may keep them apart and alone. Get your copy and enjoy their story, I did!

Holy freaking Gods with a book! That was a truly amazing book. It is so well thought out and so well written. Charmaine has a wave pulling you in and holding you to the end of the book. Return. This is Lauren story. And how she meant Jo’ Aquin. She's stranded down in the middle of the desert when a bright light Shone on her in the next thing she knows oh, she's being abducted by aliens... these are not the nice kind of aliens either. These are scaly lizard men. When Joe is Quinn on his Starship realizes they have taken a human he is in Pursuit and going to save the human. To his surprise though it is a beautiful woman and is he is thrown in a pod to another planet Through the Wormhole there is no telling how this will end for them. When they land on the Pioneer thing meet the natives and soon learned that she is the only hope to save them all but to do so she may very well have to in her life. Now Joe just needs to find a way to save it because while they have been spending time together he has fallen deeply in love with her but he hasn't told her yet. Now to find out exactly how this happened you're going to have to read this book but you are so going to enjoy it. Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
Lauren is kidnapped by lizard like aliens and wakes up in an escape pod with a handsome alien warrior on an unknown planet.Lauren's car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and while wondering how she is getting out of this mess she sees lights in the sky then from the way they are moving realizes they are not natural or normal aircraft so she tries to get away. She runs into something hard and feels that it has scales looking up it appears like a giant lizard causing her to pass out. Jo'Aquin is the captain of a cloaked ship watching over Earth when a ship come up from the surface and the instruments show a human is on board. When they start preparing to open a hole to jump through Jo'Aquin knows he must stop them at all costs. He and Striker board the ship trying to find the human before they jump. This is a beautiful love story about two disparate individuals. Jo'Aquin is a Hexonian who is a Starship Commander and has been for many decades. He is always haunted by the loss of his sister when he was 14 and she 10. Lauren is a earth woman who has been through very trying times. She is 38 and feels like her life of romance has been ended years before. Lauren is out alone in the Australian outback when she;s kidnapped by Reptiles. They are a race that go in to a planet and take it over totally and within hours. Jo'Aquin goes to rescue the earth woman and is injured and they both wind up on a planet named Florn. There Lauren is treated for the implant that was put in her head by the Reptiles. Jo'Aquin is treated for the injuries he suffered from their tails which contain poison. Lauren and Joe, as she lovingly calls him, battle intense feelings towards each other. Joe feels he isn;t worthy while Lauren feels she;s too worn and over the hill. Then hope is given and acted upon. That hope takes both Lauren and Joe on a trek that will be life altering for the both of them; Beautiful love story with lots of thrills and plenty of tears so have the kleenex handy.

This is the second installment In the hexonian alien romance series. This 1 in particular definitely has more action and suspense in it than the 1st 1 did But is still absolutely amazing. This goes with the story line of a female human Being abducted by The reptile race aliens And being caught in the process By a hexonian soldier. In this particular story line they actually crash land on a different planet in a different galaxy than either of their home planets. It's actually on a planet that has already been taken over By the reptile race. This 1 has definitely a lot of twist and turns in the story line and keeps you guessing a lot all the way to the very last chapter. You do not have to worry though there is no cliffhanger and it definitely leads into the next 1 and the previous book, But you never know what could happen. This particular story has Got just as much spice and smut as the 1st 1 but in way more detail and I would give it a slightly higher rating on the chili pepper scale But it dose have more story line than spice So I would still only give it a 3 1⁄2 chili pepper. This is definitely a book I will be rereading And I can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the series.
Wow! Talk about full of a bit of everything; this novel seems to have it all included in one very good tale. This is a science-fiction, alien, fantasy, romance, intrigue, adventure novel. All these elements are included in the story line and all the elements just enhanced the overall romantic theme of the story. The characters, albeit the two main characters, of the cast of assembled characters, all portrayed very strong characteristics. They all appeared to operate on the premise of, for the betterment of all, taking precedence over individual want. High integrity and high morals were evident in the characters as well. That all saying, there of course were very evil characters involved in the story as well. The characters faced adversity head-on, were adaptive to situations and were stoic versus resigned when faced with life-threatening challenges.
Great read! Highly entertaining!
Thank you Ms. Ross! You have an enormous amount of imagination and parlay it very easily to your readers.

This story is like a huge vomit made up from flowers and insta-love. Everyone is too good, too perfect, too saint like... Nobody have normal feelings of negative kind at all. I did not believe in the story and I really disliked all characters. The writing is mediocre. At some point it got so repetitive and boring, I started to skip over paragraphs just to be able to get through this book. Maybe I am just fed up with empty, trashy romances and long to have some substance to a book. Maybe I would not be so turned off by this story if it had some individuality instead of copy-paste feeling of mass production. Maybe it is just me,looking for something interesting to read and not appreciating purple glitter vomit. Whatever the reason, I not only wasn't invested in this story,I was actively disgusted by it. So sue me...
Lauren is on a getaway to get out of the depression of losing her husband when her car breaks down. A reptile-like alien finds her and abducts her to enslave her. Commander Jo’Aquin Centauri tries to save her from them only to have them both hurt & sent into an unknown world where the natives imprison them. Charmaine Ross weaved a very vivid plot with 3 different alien species with their own features & unique characteristics. I enjoyed reading about how Lauen & 'Joe' are drawn to each other both of them thirsty for affection as they are stranded in a new world and as they work together to fight the evil reptiles. A great read with many twists & turns.

Jo’Aquin: A Hexonian Alien Abduction Romance Book 1 By Charmaine Ross Kindle unlimited purchase On her own, after Lauren's husband died five years ago. Her family and friends talk her into taking a trip. So when she ends up stuck on the side of the road all alone in the dark she never thought she would get abducted by aliens. But that's what gave her a HEA. Jo’Aquin (or Joe as Lauren calls him) is the Captain of a spaceship. He is trying to keep a Reptilian alien race from taking over the earth. When Jo’Aquin and Lauren crash on a planet they find they are on a planet under the Reptilian race. This was a great spin on a the alien abduction. Looking forward to reading book 2.
3.5 stars I picked this ebook up for free on Amazon it was an interesting quick read which I enjoyed I liked both the main characters but especially Lauren and that she was 38 which is older than I often find in books like this they both came with baggage from past experiences and needed to deal with those along the way mixed in with the feels they had for each other. the plot kept moving at a good pace and the world building was well done I felt like I could see the planet Florn in my head as I read and it was beautiful I love being in the forest full of nature trees and lots of plants so this plant was definitely one I would not mind living on once the invading reptiles are dealt with of course lol.
This book will have your attention right from the start. Lauren was broken down on the Nullarbor and if you have ever traveled the Nullarbor then you can all most believed what happened to here. Lauren was kidnapped by lizard type off things from another planet. Jo’Aquin Is in charge of keeping earth safe from the lizard who can control a planet by mind control. He was trying to save here and ended up on the same planet as here. They found out there is away to reverse the mind control. Will they be in time to save the planet they are on . If you want to know what has to be done you are going to have to read this book yourself.
Every time I see a book in Booksprout from Charmaine Ross I just have to get it to review. I love her stories she has a wide variety of tales from ghosts, angels, pirates to contemporary romance stories, as you can probably tell I’m a big fan and now this story JoAquin. Sorry guys I’m not giving any spoilers this story is just too good to give bits and pieces of a story so read Charmaine’s blurb and that will give you the gist to this story even though I haven’t read it yet myself but I don’t need to as long as Charmaine’s name is on the book I will get it. A 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Charmaine Ross is an excellent story teller and writer. The characters come to life and the story flows seamlessly. I read a lot, and this is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. You won’t be disappointed. Lauren’s is abducted by reptilian aliens after her car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. They are caught in the act by Commander Jo’Aquin of the Galactic Federation and his men, who race to save her.

Lauren was abducted by Reptiles who try to control planets in Galaxy very successful . For that reason warriors try to protect Earth. Jo’Aquin is commander on the one of this station. When he try to rescue Lauren unfortunately he got injured and their adventure start. She is only the person who can save Planet but she could die in process. Will love and protective Alien save her and the rest of the world? It was lovely book and quite enjoyable

This was an interesting story! I loved the creativity and imagination the author used in this paranormal story. I liked the story-line and thought it was a very entertaining and enjoyable story. The chemistry between the two characters was amazing! I liked Joe and Lauren's story. I loved Joe and overall liked Lauren. She was a little annoying especially about the age thing. I think this was a captivating story overall but it did drag in a few spots. I still recommend the story!

Sci-fic meets Ferngully? Lauren, who sees herself as nobody special, is abducted by Gorgan-type aliens intent on taking over Earth and rescued by another spaceman and tree-people. In the end, it is she who becomes the hero of an entire world and possibly the universe. Elements of Fern Gully or maybe a female Yoda, Avitar, Startrek TOS and Next Gen all combine with a romance to make us smile in the end. Thanks for the get-away read.

Who doesn't love lizard people or lizard aliens? (Aren't lizard people actually lizard aliens--or is that just what the Weekly World News wants you to think?) Well, Lauren is about to find out. She's had a hard time lately and gets beamed up by aliens after she breaks down on a dark country road. She wakes up on some planet in the arms of the hot Jo’Aquin, who was Earth's protector. Lauren's blood is rare and very desirable, and she gets mixed up in alien espionage and is running from and fighting the evil Reptilians. Lots of steamy scenes and romance.
Abducted from by reptilian aliens, Lauren is rescued by the Commander of a battleship protecting Earth from invaders. Rescue doesn't accurately describe the situation because although Lauren and Commander JoAquin have escaped the Reptilians, they have crashed landed on an unknown planet.
The characters are well written and the storyline is interesting although I thought that a couple of sections of the story were hard to follow. I enjoyed reading this book and have already started reading Striker, book 2 in this series.
SPOILER ALERT - This book allowed the imagation of the author to shine through. Earth female abducted to be used as a test subject to enslave a population was very heady. Also, the female was getting over trauma of the death of her partner. Very clever. What I had a problem with was the female. She was not strong in the least. She was not weak but easily cowed. I also loved the people of the colorful planet. I would give this book a solid 3.5 stars.
It was OK. The alien MMC isn’t very alien, though. No special powers, just golden skin and he looks like Henry Cavill. Though with a name like Jo’Aquin, I kept picturing him like Joaquin Phoenix. There are a lot (I mean, A LOT) of things that are left unexplained, or that are just brushed over. I read the prequel, and if you are expecting to find answers there, you won’t find them. There was a lot of guesswork involved, and I’m not a fan of that. 2.75 stars, because the writing was decent, and at least there were no typos.
The story of Jo'Aquin and Lauren is an out of this world adventure. He is an alien protector who is tracking an evil alien species, and ends up caught with Lauren a human woman minding her own business one night while stranded. Their attraction is evident, and the prophecy about Lauren not so much. Great story.
