New Sherlock Holmes Mysteries #8

The Man Who Was Twisted But Hip

Rate this book
THE MAN WHO WAS TWISTED BUT HIP. AN ANTI-SEMITIC MURDER LEADS HOMES AND WATSON TO PARIS TO PREVENT A WAR. It is 1897 and France is torn apart by The Dreyfus Affair, a disgraceful episode of antisemitism that plagued France for a decade and brought out the worst of behavior in far too many French men and women. Westminster needs help from Sherlock Holmes to make sure that the evil tide of anti-Semitism that has engulfed France will not spread.

While spending an uneventful morning searching for his nephew, Dr. Watson finds Sherlock Holmes and together they watch as a man is murdered, a direct consequence of the anti-Semitic conflict that is raging just across the Channel.
Strangely, Holmes is sent by his older brother, Mycroft, to the home of a young officer in the Foreign Office who has suddenly resigned from his post and entered the theater. His wife knows that something is not right and calls upon Sherlock Holmes for help. All these events are linked together and the solving of the puzzle is to be found in the City of Light.

To make matters worse, the evil professor may be behind it all, and there could be terrible consequences for the young couple and all of Europe.

Sherlock and Watson run all over London and Paris solving the puzzle, thwart Moriarty, restore the young husband and wife to each other, and aid the right side of history that will eventually emerge from the dreadful Dreyfus affair.

Entertaining mystery listening 🎶🔰

I listened 🎶 to this as part of the Sherlock Holmes Never Dies box 📦 set. A woman 🚺 comes to Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson about her husband who is acting strange. Sherlock is called to see Mycroft. Sherlock is to protect the husband and wife in London and when they go to Paris. I would highly recommend this series and author to fans of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. 2023 😀😯👒

I really enjoyed this adventure of Holmes & Watson as it wove itself into a chapter of the actual history of France and England with mostly factual points used as storyline. Well done. I’ve moved onto the next in this series. Recommended,

I loved this book. Especially for a Holmes book it is nice and short. At the end I had a little bit of a hard time keeping straight who was who.

Another fantastic book from my favorite author!

This is yet another book by this author that I love. I've never enjoyed Sherlock Holmes they way I do now. I was very pleased to see that Dr. Watson's wife was in this one. She was a great addition to the story. Paris, love, the theatre, murders, spies, etc.. this story had it all. It was such a great read!
