Malkum Nitá is a bear shifter and one of two Dásreach enforcers in the Thirteen. Due to a tortured past, Malkum never wanted a mate, but he must accept it for the Thirteen to be the next Council. However, with no one having found their mates, it was looking like Malkum's bachelorhood was safe. That is until, Kai’s mate walked into Great Spirit Tattoo with her friends. Rogue inflamed his passion from the moment she touched his tattoo and tamed the ferocious bear.
Rogue Phenix had enough of changing for other people. Life had shown her many things and she wasn’t going to chase her dreams; she was going to make them happen. And, thanks to her Book Worm friends she had found the relationships she had never had, but it’s not enough, she wants it all – her friends, a family… and a man. But, just when she thinks she’s found her destiny, her man runs scared.
Unbeknownst to the Thirteen a darkness is working against them. Working in the shadows and using human pawns, the darkness has set its sights on Rogue and her friends.
Can Malkum come to terms with his past before it’s too late?
Josette Reuel has been creating stories since she was a small child. As an avid reader from her earliest memories, Josette enjoys many genres; however, her current passion is anything Romance. Oddly, it wasn't until her forties that her writing became a lot more grown-up. Josette believes in love at first sight, finding romance in the small things, and being open to exploring new things.
Josette writes M/F, M/M, menage, and reverse harem Contemporary, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance of varying degrees of heat. She also co-authors those genres along with Dark Romance with her critique partner, S.E. Isaac.
She believes in realism along with the fantasy and writes her characters with a variety of body types and backgrounds.
Her stories often fall within the "Forever Safe" sub-genre with their love at first sight, fated-love themes.
Accepting the Bear is a fun second installment in this series about special individuals who protect the world through their spirit animals. This story follows Rogue and Malkum on their journey for the truth of why so many women have been killed and who's doing it. Along the way emotions start to bubble over as Rogue starts to realize she has it bad for her grumpy bear guardian. However, Malkum keeps a solid wall between them because he's not willing to let history repeat itself.
Rogue is a strong heroine that's desperate to live life to it's fullest. She's more than ready to settle down and have a family since she's nearly done with her college courses. Rogue doesn't take anything for granted because of past health issues. Even with her past health and man troubles, Rogue still has a positive outlook on life. She's funny and bubbly but level headed when it counts.
Malkum is sorta a snot when it comes down to it. He's too busy looking backwards to see what's coming towards him. He has a fixation on not accepting his bear or Rogue as anything permanent. Malkum is the type to intimidate you and probably ignore you completely. That doesn't delude his sexiness though, which is pretty much set on high.
I enjoyed the story as a whole, I thought Rogue was a great leading lady that was able to play tricks on others but protect them when she needed to. The mystery was intriguing and kept me guessing as the story progressed which was nice. There was quite a bit of action to boot, so it wasn't all kisses and Qs. Overall, I'd recommend this story to other PNR lovers who like more focus on plot.
You do need to read the first book in this series to understand this book, do not go out of order.
Lot of action in this book and plenty of hot moments. You'll enjoy Rogue and her feisty personality. She is the kind of girl that is in charge of her own life and doesn't let anyone push her around.
Malkum is hardheaded and, for very personal reasons, doesn't want to be tied down. She wants someone to love all of her, to be the center of his world. He wants to keep her at arm's distance. He needs her for the Thirteen to be able to take their places as the next council. Will his stubbornness ruin things?
Fast paced story about trusting what our hearts are trying to tell us. Check it out.
Book 2 in Josette Reuel's series is action packed and full of sass! Rogue and Malkum's story is lots of verbal fun. Josette has a magic about her writing that captures true human emotions and actions and you can see those leap off the page! Highly recommend! 5 out of 5 stars.
The Dásreach Council Novels are very close to my heart. Each heroine is based on a real, live Book Worm (artistic license has been employed) and I love writing them because their reactions are very much what my friends and I would do and say.
Rogue is an amazing woman. Striving to find her HEA, she is more than ready for every up and down. I love her kick ass attitude that is tempered by her compassion, thoughtfulness, and vulnerabilities.
Malkum is a huge grumpy bear who has not let go of his past. Not socially experienced and super protective of everyone who falls under his protection, he doesn't always handle things the right way. Thank goodness he has Rogue to show him the way.
Accepting the Bear includes: Suspense, Humor, and a slow building burn of a relationship.
This book is a continuation from "Finding the Dragon: Dásreach Council Novel 1" and although it makes a great stand-alone read, it is highly recommended that you read both books in order so that you don't miss out on the background of the Dásreach and Book Worms that you learn in Book 1.
Hope you will give the series a chance. Happy Reading!
I have waited a long time to read this story. I was gifted this by the author for a honest review. What to do, what to do... Malkum has a lot of issues, especially regarding his past. He doesn't want a mate but it seems the Great Spirit has other plans for his life. A strong warrior, and enforcer, who's only desire is to protect.
Rogue, a woman with a plan, a plan to graduate, to stay strong and live her life the way she wants not how it is dictated.
Of course until they meet each other, there is a strong bond and they have no idea how to handle their feelings. Malkum is always pushing, Rogue is forever causing chaos.
Who will win this conquest is it even worth it?
A delightful story, well written loved how they interact with each other. I did have moment I laughed
The only complaint I have is there were some redundancy. It could have been left out. But honestly? I did not take away from this awesome story.
Do I recommend this book absolutely. I can't wait for Nat's story with Charlie.
Accepting the Bear is the second instalment in The Dasreach Council novels and is an exciting story about Malkum, a member of the Thirteen who has to accept Rogue as his mate in order for the Thirteen to take their place as the next Council. As with all passions of the heart, not everything runs smoothly.
Rogue is fiery, passionate and in control of her life. She knows what she wants but is faced with a grumpy bear who not only has trouble accepting her, but also his own destiny.
Trying to keep her safe takes them to various cities in the US but their passion cannot be contained. I really enjoyed how the characters grew to accept both their love and their destiny. The book is full of humor, tension and desire. A must read.
Smokin Hot Second Installment!! Can Malkum keep his mate safe? He wants Rogue but because of his past, he won't claim her. At ever turn danger finds them, Who can they trust? Will Malkum be able to keep his feelings out of play or will it become a distraction he can't afford? Rogue is determined to find happiness and wants to mate with Malkum but he runs hot and cold with her. Can she stay strong enough to show Malkum what a true mating means? This book was a wild ride and I loved it. I loved Rogues determination, strength and compassion! These to were sexy and I loved reading their journey!
With each book I write in this series I am more enamored with my characters. I love Rogue's strength in this book, but even being strong she is still vulnerable and full of compassion. Malkum proves that even strong alpha men have insecurities and difficulties dealing with their pasts. The two of them together are energy and passion.
I waited along time to read this book and it was definitely worth the wait. I loved the concept and the storyline, which was creative and different. The characters are likable and the chemistry between Malkum and Rogue was hot. They made a really cute and sweet couple. It's was a really interesting and enjoyable read. It has so much potential and I can't wait for book 3 in this awesome series!
Everything I was expecting and more. This series is a MUST read. I fell in love with Josette's books. And I think you will too! I highly recommend this book!
