Arthur Hambledon, Anna’s best-selling author, has just finished his latest book which he says “will raise some eyebrows.” Then Arthur disappears, along with the manuscript.
Anna Davies is working in London as a Senior Editor for a respected Publishing Company. When her most famous author goes missing, Anna is determined to find out what happened to him.
Born in the UK, I migrated to Australia in my early twenties. It was only when I retired to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland that I wrote my first novel.
The Anna Davies Mystery series comprises five books, Missing in Egypt, Missing at Sea, Missing in London, Missing in France and Missing in Australia. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083RQ2QDG/
Missing in London is an intriguing read. I decided to pick up this book as I have heard about the Anna Davies series and wanted to check it out – naturally, London was my first choice. I enjoyed reading the book, and even though it seemed that the story was all mapped out, I couldn’t stop reading because this book is all about the process of gaining evidence and affirming justice. I found Anna’s character very easy-going, but with the very feminine curious spark of unshakable determination which drives her. I really connected with Anna, her love for travel and sunshine, and her ‘don’t let go’ approach. The most successful detectives are not the ones with all the glory but the nitty-gritty ones who can’t stop ‘digging’ until the truth is revealed. Missing in London was a relaxing and pleasurable read for me, despite the multiple crimes and associated tension. I would recommend it to anyone who is up for a light crime/investigation read.
This book was an enjoyable read. The plot was captivating enough to grab my attention and hold it well throughout, and the characters were well-rounded and believable. I did sort of feel like Anna forced her way in to this mystery though, so it didn't feel quite as natural for her to be involved in seeking answers as in the first two books, and part of me was agreeing with her husband's comments about how she should let it drop, even as the rest of me wanted her to keep seeking answers so I could find out what happened too. Still, that was my only real issue with the book.
Rita Lee Chapman does it again with her mystery Missing in London! I love the way Chapman brings a place to life allowing you to explore while Anna Davies hunts down clues to a mystery. After the disappearance of author Arthur Hambleton, Anna must scour gritty gray London for any sense of what happened to him. I always loved Anna as a character and the clever twists Chapman weaves into her plot. A must for any Sherlock Holmes fans out there!
Really enjoyed this mystery novel swapped at a book fair for one of mine. . The characters feel real and the plot intriguing with a few twists. Anna Davies is a very tenacious girl. She wants to find truth and justice and due to the clever character and plot construction, the reader wants this too. Will be reading more of the missing series by Rita. Hope you like my book too, Rita!
