Ripples: A Consequences Stand-alone Novel

You don’t have to read the Consequences series to enjoy this stand-alone novel, but if you know Tony Rawlings, you know that disappointing him isn’t an option. Imagine being his youngest daughter...imagine telling him the unimaginable...

“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.”

Sometimes ideas find you, and dreams begin as nightmares. Sometimes the truth that has been kept hidden is the key to opening a door you never knew existed.

“You might not know me. I’m the baby of the Rawlings family, the princess, the daughter who came along later. I’m not like my older siblings, successful at everything they touch. My mother and father have provided me with every luxury as well as their unyielding love and support, but I’m not spoiled. I’m also not content. By example, my parents have shown me how love should be. I don’t know their past, and that doesn’t matter. I know what I’ve seen—two people devoted to one another.

I don’t believe that I’ll ever find that kind of love, the kind that forgives and accepts all. And as my life falls to pieces and I travel to visit my family to face their disappointment, I’m not even looking for it.

I’m looking for an escape...from my life as a Rawlings...from the pressure to achieve and not let others down. I dream of the time I can live for my own desires without the expectations that come with my name.

I don’t find what I’m seeking...it finds me. Or should I say...he finds me.

This time is different. I have a family who will search for me and find the answers. Little do we know—any of us—that my father set my journey into motion long before I was born.”

"Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects." ~Dalai Lama

Ripples (Unabridged Version) is Natalie’s story, the youngest of Tony and Claire’s children—their baby. This story first appeared in shorter form in Glamour: Contemporary Fairytale Retellings. Due to the length restriction of each novella in that anthology, many scenes in Ripples were shortened or omitted for that anthology. This unabridged edition is the entire story—double in length and—a full-length novel.

Please enjoy this Consequences novel along with special appearances from your favorite Consequences characters.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2! Ripples (stand-alone). Tony Rawling’s baby-girl learns about herself & her parents’ past by getting tangled in a quest for revenge!

Ripples (stand-alone) opens up to Natalie Rawlings, Nat aka Bug heading to spend the holidays with her family and fretting telling them about dropping out of Harvard. The somewhat coddled and shielded baby daughter of Tony and Claire still wants to make her family proud.

Commodities trader Jonas Dexter Smithers, Dexter has a murky past and a plan that includes Nat. But she has no idea that her sitting next to the charming Dexter is not a coincident nor is she aware of her father's past…

Seven words to describe Jonas Dexter Smithers, Dexter: Determined, callous, commanding, mysterious, intense, devious and ruthless.

Seven words to describe Natalie Rawlings, Nat aka Bug: Naïve, conflicted, trusting, meek, impressionable, spoilt and reflective.

Ripples, told from multiple POVs, is a fast-paced suspenseful and dark romance. It starts off as a quest for vengeance, but add lust and feelings and it becomes a journey of finding one’s purpose, past mistakes, penance and forgiveness. It ends with truth, resolution and love.

“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.”

With Ripples, Romig goes back to her roots. This is a Consequences stand -alone novel, but it carries the same type of suspenseful and deceitful tale. Sure there is romance and steam, but it’s twisty and shocking also.

This is the tale of Natalie Rawlings, Tony and Claire Rawlings youngest daughter. It’s her unconventional love story with Dexter. I’d already read the novella in an anthology, so I was happy to hear we were getting the full story of Nat and Dexter. That was my biggest complaint. Now that I’ve read the entire story, my complaint is that I want a second story! I feel like there is so much more we could know about Natalie, Dexter, and of course, Tony and Claire! I want to see Dexter and Tony together more!

I loved that Romig put a bit of a different spin on this one. Although Natalie is a lot like Claire, and Tony and Dexter have some similarities, their stories are not carbon copies of one another, despite the similar theme.

Aleatha Romig does a great job writing unconventional romance stories that are twisty, suspenseful, and she writes the best heroes that you love to hate and hate to love. For those of you that loved Consequences, be sure to check this one out!

I have read the shortest version of the story a few months ago as part of an anthology (Glamour: Contemporary Fairytale Retellings). Back then I didn't know that Natalie is Tony's daughter (the guy you love to hate from the Consequences series). There was no way to suspect this, since I knew that Tony and Claire' daughter was named Nichole. Thus, when it was revealed that Natalie is the baby daughter of Tony's and that she is about to have a similar destiny to her mother; I was pleasantly surprised.

In this book, we have the longer version of Natalie and Dexter's story. This time we know from the blurb that Natalie is indeed Tony's daughter and thus there many scenes with Tony and Claire that worry for their baby girl. What we don't know is who is Dexter and why he has kidnapped Natalie (unless you have read the shorter version in the anthology).

If you have not read the Consequences or the Glamour: Contemporary Fairytale Retelling, do not worry besause this can easily be read as a standalone novel and it is a perfect dark romance which will satisfy all your dark cravings and it will give you the creeps.

"That's it bug..." He leaned forward and kissed her cheek, tasting the salty emotion. "...you saved the tears for me". He licked his lips. "They taste better than I imagined. I'm sure I'll enjoy many more."

Ripples is the first book I've read from the Consequences series but I never felt like I was missing anything even though I haven't read the original books. I'm really glad I picked it up because now I want to go and start the original series to get the full story on some of the characters I met in this one.

The blurb for this one grabbed my attention easily and I needed to know every detail it hinted at. From the beginning of the book so much is unknown and had me questioning what was going on. The answers to all of my questions always felt like they were right there and I just couldn't reach them, which I loved and it kept me in suspense, always wanting more.

Dexter isn't an easy character to like and I wanted to smack him a few times but the darkness he brought to the story was brilliant. He makes this a book that you will question yourself for liking, and probably think you're insane for finding something so wrong so hot. Sometimes those are the best books to read though.

I did have a little issue with the pace of the story and felt like it moved a too fast at times. There were a lot of details that were glanced over that I would have loved to see in detail to get more of a connection between Dexter and Natalie. Overall, I enjoyed the story though and I'm definitely going to need to read more of this authors grittier work.

I must say this book was a love/hate for me. Loved having Tony, Claire, Phil, Taylor, Nichol, Nate and Natalie back in my reading world. I love this family and any parts I can get from them is like a breath of fresh air. And I Disliked because I loathed Dexter Smithers. So I will digress a moment.....I hated/loathed/wanted to poke his eyes out mad at Tony at the end of Consequences. So I know I might be wrong about Dexter but for this review......Me No Like Dexter At All!!!!

Natalie Rawlings is part Tony and Claire. I think she’s the one that has the best from the both of them. She has that internal desire to please but she also has a fire to be assertive.......she is a Rawlings one must remember. And Dexter Smithers is CRAZY. Sorry but that’s how I see it. A man who thinks he’s a King but he’s anything but in my eyes. When Dexter shows up in Natalie’s life, he does so with malice and he’s says with love. I just found Dexter to be condescending to Natalie at all times. I never really believed his love, not his true love for her. In his crazy mind, he believes they need to be together but he did it in the most vile of ways. Their time together was not romantic but just a result of Stockholm Syndrome. And even when it could have turned romantic it didn’t because Dexter continued to “use punishment” to reinforce a behavior. Once again......Dexter was not a worthy man in my eyes.

There is also the ending. I really wanted more. I was not satisfied with being left in the middle of the story in my mind. I could have used a little more closure because I believe that Natalie’s story was left way too open for my imagination. I needed it, craved it and I can only hope that the evil Aleatha Romig hears my pleas and gives me more Natalie and Dexter and MORE Tony, Claire, Phil, Taylor, Nichol and Nate. Because the Consequence that Dexter deserves can only come by the master himself, Mr. Consequences, Anthony Rawlings.

I have been a fan of Aleatha Romig from the very beginning. From Consequence to One Night, she is a one click author for me. She does dark and light and suspense wonderfully. She knows how to tell a story like no other. I know we can’t like everything but I do know that she brought out my passion for this book even if I didn’t relish it like I did her other books. I vented to her directly and to my friends......it just got under my skin. So in that sense it was good that it brought out my vehement passion but it’s just a story that didn’t leave me fulfilled as I had wanted. So I will leave it up to y’all........after all this is just my opinion. But just FYI, Tony did not disappoint me AT ALL!!!

4 the princess becomes the queen stars

"Tell me, kind sir, are you my fairy godmother, or should I say father? Are you here to grant my wishes?"

Be careful for what you wish for...because it could turn into your worst nightmare or greatest pleasure. It all depends on you, and how you come to terms with the realty of your life. Do you embrace it and welcome it with open arms, or do you fight it and take the consequences. Only you are capable of making yourself the victim.
“Good girls get rewards. Bad girls are punished."

Natalie and Dexter’s story is one you just have to live through, and watch it unravel. Like the stone skips across the pond the effects are far and endless. Impacting not only Natalie and Dexter, but their family and friend's, brining back memories that are better off forgotten.

Ripples by Aleatha Romig, is A Prince and the Pauper story with a twist. This fairy tale is retold through the wicked mind of Mrs. Romig. I went in blind, having no idea what to expect so I felt my way and had my jaw drop a couple times trying to come to terms with this twisted fairly tale. While it's kept on the contemporary side. the mind games are fierce and plenty, making you question your own sanity.

Ripples was initially offered in the anthology Glamour, but in Ripples, we get the more we we were craving. Exploring the ripples in the pond, seeing the effects of one stone. The alternating views and cameo’s were just some of the new addition’s to the tale. While their story ended with their beginning, the possibility of more is left open. Not sure how I feel about more, their story had so many layers and so much influence, and to have it stripped again to start back over would almost be unfair.

Calling all Tony and Claire fans, Aleatha Romig returns back with a Consequences Spinoff with Ripples. In this spinoff, Aleatha introduces readers to the Rawling children, Nichol, Nate and Natalie. And like her mother, Natalie Rawlings will discover she too is part of a ripple effect where history has a way of repeating itself.

090882ae2f3405f954914e1a0f46e0 Because once the truth is revealed, they’ll discover that despite his and his wife’s best efforts to keep their baby girl safe, Natalie’s consequences were set into motion a long time ago.”

Natalie Rawlings is the baby of the family. She is adored and loved by her father and mother. She practically had an easy life where everything was given to her that is until everything is taken from her. When she fails at Harvard, Natalie is afraid and hesitant to tell her parents of her failure and so when she embarks to travel to France to inform her parents, Natalie’s life is forever changed when she meets a stranger.

Dexter Smithers wanted Natalie. She was his intended target. The reason behind it will be revealed but like how Tony wanted Claire, there was a reason why Dexter targeted Natalie. But will Dexter be able to hide Natalie before her family discovers her disappearance and will he be able to break Natalie and make her his.

#Ripples

Ripples is a story that is reminiscent of the Consequence Series but very different in a sense. Readers get to see how history has a way of repeating itself and Dexter is very different from Tony. Personally, no one can be Tony Rawlings and top him but Dexter definitely makes his presence known in his dominance as he tries to make Natalie Rawlings his.

090882ae2f3405f954914e1a0f46e0 She belonged to him. Instead of fighting, Natalie gave Dexter what he wanted: her body, cries, and tears.”

Is this a conventional romance? Absolutely not, but that’s the joy in reading this book because Aleatha Romig goes back to her roots of writing a story that has an edge and allows readers to get out of their comfort zone. So if you are looking for a story that will reunite you with the Rawlings family and at the same time introduce you to the Rawling children who will have you begging Aleatha Romig for more then this book is for you.

I have sat here staring at my computer screen for a long period of time, trying to gather the words flowing through my head. I was over the moon to get my hands on this book. Aleatha is a go-to author for me. I never thought I would see the day where I would not devour a book of hers in the most enjoyable way.

This book... it is a combination between Consequences and Fifty, but without the slow build of a relationship where we can see the chemistry between two characters bud and blossom from the darkest of beginnings. This is more, he came, he conquered, he won. The heroine a classic case of Stockholm syndrome. There wasn't a point where I could see a true turning point that went from depravity to chemistry.

I am sure it is obvious that I didn't connect with this story. I also could not connect with the main characters. None of it made sense to me. I kept waiting and waiting for that twist to come. Those that have read Aleatha's books knows what I mean. That twist that literally changes your perspective on everything you just read. It never came.

Aleatha started to throw a wrench into the mix towards the end. However, that is all she did was set it up. There was no follow through. There was no turning point that made me question anything. She has done this in the past, but with a much better result.

I have read a handful of the reviews for this book. I am clearly not in the majority when it comes to this book. For me, with an Aleatha Romig book, that is unusual. It also breaks my heart. I have come to long for Aleatha's words over the years. Unfortunately, this book just wasn't one of those books for me. On the flip side, I will continue to long for her next book. My discontent with this story will not stop me for wanting more from Aleatha.

eeeermmm, I guess I didn't like it. (it's more like 1* because I'm extra mad but I'll give it 2* because I finished it)

1. I don't know why this is being promoted as a standalone, when it's obviously not. (well it is for now, but it's either completely unsatisfying or it will get a sequel.)
2. I KNOW Aleatha Romig can do better.
3. I almost wish she never wrote this book because now I feel like she wrote it only to squeeze more money out of her readers just because it's a spin off of Consequences. In my opinion not everything needs a continuation or a spin off or whatever. I was perfectly content with the Consequences series, I LOVED them, but this just makes me extremely annoyed.

And yes, I know I'm in the minority.

I have absolutely no issues with captivity romances, I actually quite enjoy them if they are executed properly..and with this one I kept waiting and waiting for something and by 80% i gave up hope.
This to me was a clear case of Stockholm syndrome. You mean to tell me you justify their "love" because he fed her and gave her a blanket? She "fell in love" with him because she was lonely in a basement and he kept her company once in a while.
I felt zero connection or actual feelings between them, and just because the author writes "I love you" and "I love you too, forever" doesn't mean I'll believe they're in love when they're is absolutely nothing to show for it.

Maybe if we had more of his POV I would have felt differently. But he definitely did not do ANYTHING to redeem himself or make me feel like he has actual feelings for her (besides the author telling us he does). So this is where the sequel would come in, but I am in NO MOOD to read a sequel when this is basically a rip off of Consequences and I can see the sequel following the same path as Truth. And honestly I'm not even intrigued enough by their characters to read it anyway.

Ripple : The Prince And The Pauper appeared first in Glamour Anthology and now has been expanded to an unabridged version
Ripple tells the story of Dexter Smithers. He's as Dominating Alpha as they come. He's set his sights on young Natalie and just like an innocent Dove in the Hawk's crosshairs, she is ensnared by him. He goes to great , devious lengths to ambush and pluck her from her luxurious and doubtedly safe , velvet life and makes her his Queen. The Queen only bows in front of her King , but it's more than that. She kneels and begs and splays open her body and soul for him to spank, punish and caress.
It's a tough tale of vindictive love , a style Aleatha is a veteran writer of. Her Dexter Smithers sends shivers down our souls
Really dark and really intense. A thorough #AleathaGenre book

Not for me

I didn’t know much about this book going in but I knew I had to read it since I loved the original series. This was an unbelievable disappointment. Dexter was no Tony. I know there were plenty of people that didn’t get why I loved Tony but he at least showed he could change. You could feel his love for Claire in those books. Dexter was just an asshole. I never once felt he loved Nat. And the worst part was just when it started getting good the book ends. I’m actually kind of mad that I read this.

“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.”

Ripples is a Consequences stand -alone novel, when I first learned that there was a spin off I was so excited, and once it was out I literally stopped everything and picked it up. Being a big fan of the Consequences series and of Tony and Claire's story I was hoping for something strong gripping and has an edge to it, and I was kind of disappointed!

Natalie Rawlings is the baby of the family, she's treated like the princess she is, adored and spoiled. She has the perfect relationship with her parents and siblings, only when it comes to her education she is a little hesitant, so when she fails at Harvard she becomes anxious about what would her parents say about it. She decides to confront them about it and travel to France to face them. Only, she never gets there, and her life is changed the moment she sat a foot on that plane..

Dexter Smithers is what I would call, a delusional man, sorry but I did not like him at all, everything about him seemed off to me, his behavior, his rules, it was like a cheesy copy of Tony. His demeanor wasn't reasonable, I believe he had his reasons to pick Natalie which we will discover later hopefully.

Unlike Tony and Claire's story which I fell in love with immediately this one didn't do it for me. It was rather unconventional and kinda hurried to me,there was no connection between them, while Tony worked hard to earn Claire's feelings and it took him years of forgiveness, Dexter on the other hand completed the task within four months...huh?. I don't know, to be honest, I feel like there is way more of the story that was left untold, and I hope there will be more book because I don't like feeling left out! Hopefully there will more spin offs, because I can't imagine keep wondering about the real motives and I want more of Tony and Claire, they will always be my favorite!

I absolutely love Aleatha Romig's writing! Her stories are always captivating and they linger in your mind long after the last page is read. I throughly enjoyed getting more of my favorite Consequences characters. You can never have enough of Tony and Claire or of their world. This author is a master at alluring, dark, and sexy. I will read anything she writes. I recommend this enticing story!

Oh how this saddens me to give a spin-off book from one of my favorite series less than 5 stars. However, this book I must only give 4 stars too. Although you can read this book as a standalone, I found myself trying to forget the history of the original story as I read this book. It can definitely, be read as a standalone and some moments I wish I didn't know the history because Natalie's journey was very similar to a character's from the original series. I felt that the character in the original series handled the journey stronger; if I hadn't known the history I think my feelings may have been a little different. So as you are reading this you may think I am being very vague....yes I am because over all I did enjoy this story I just have mixed feelings. I do elaborate on these mixed feelings so if you wish to see and hear them please check out the video review below.

I'm really kind of freaked out. I loved having a story about one of Tony and Claire's children but what the heck is going on? Natalie and Dexter seem to have a true relationship but I get vibes that are reminiscent of my love/hate relationship with Tony. This was just a tease...what's going to happen next? It was just starting to get good!!!! You're killing me. Don't send me to my room! I was good...I swear!!!!

I originally read about Natalie and Dexter in an anthology and seeing how I haven't read the Consequences series I was shocked. I have heard about Tony and Claire, but had no idea how addictive their world would be to read about. Natalie and Dexter took me by surprise and I was hooked. I don't feel like the story was hard to follow, but warning: you will want to read the entire series to get even more.

Natalie and Dexter are a complicated couple, but the best ones always are. Dexter isn't easy to love at times, but that's what kept me engaged and ready to turn the page. I loved how the story moved so quickly and kept me engaged despite outside distractions. I fell into this world and like I said I just want more now! I highly recommend this book regardless if you are new to the series or a huge fan.

OMG what another amazing book from Aleatha, after reading that blurb and reading the consequence series i knew i really really wanted to read this. And it was everything i hoped and more, This one is about Natalie Claire and Tony's 3rd child. This is one of those books you just had to give a go, This is a dark read and pushes you out of your Comfort zone (well it did me) and just like the other series this brought out so many different emotions from me, From angry to sad, confused to mad. I really enjoyed reading this and if you like Claire and Tony's stories then you really need to read this.

"I hate that you're thinking that way, but you're right. Don't worry. He won't know what hit him."

I'm leaving this quote from Tony Rawlings believing that there will be another book after that open-ended story. I enjoyed seeing Tony, Claire, Phil, Taylor, Nichol, Nate, and Natalie again. But there's one character I'm not really fond of in this book. I loathe Dexter at the moment. I didn't like how he coerced Natalie into liking him. Natalie may be a spoiled princess but she didn't deserve what he did to her. How I wish Ms. Romig will continue this story and see what will Tony & Claire do after learning what Natalie went through while on "vacation to find herself". If you're looking for a dark, psychological thriller, then this is definitely the book for you!

Disappointing

I have really struggled with what to write for this review. I absolutely love Aleatha Romig. Her past series have been fantastic. So when I heard about Ripples being a Consequence stand-alone, I was very excited to read it. My excitement faded by the second chapter. Was this even the same author I have grown to love? Let me warn you, if you are considering reading this book for the depth of character development we see in her previous works, you won’t find it. If you are considering this for the twists and suspense that we love from her previous works, again, you won’t find it here. I am an avid reader and I know that each book an author writes will be different from their previous works. I totally get that. But this book was so different, that at times it didn’t even seem to be written by Aleatha. And to be honest, this book should have been marketed as erotica. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good smut book, but when you’re expecting a book with depth, substance and a stellar story and it turns out to be a BDSM erotica book with cookie cutter scenes that have been played out time and time again (even in her own previous books), it is quite disappointing. But even with all of that, I still felt compelled to give this book at the very least a 3 star rating, that is until the end. It just ended! Almost in the middle of a thought. Like the author just said, ok I’m done and just stopped. Did I miss something? This is an unabridged stand alone, meaning one book, entire story. Where is the ending? The ending made me feel like there should be more, but there can’t be more because it’s a STAND ALONE. Don’t market it as a stand-alone if you intend to write more, that’s dishonest and shady. And seriously, where is the story? I’ll tell you where it is, it’s in Consequences, this is almost like a bad retelling of that book. And the Aleatha twist we have all grown to love and expect, just wasn’t there at all! I absolutely hate giving a bad review, especially for an author I adore, but this book just did nothing for me. The only thing I felt from this book is that the author has lost her passion for writing.

Ripples is a standalone spinoff in the Consequences series. You do not have to read the entire series to enjoy this book. BUT if you do read the Consequences series, it is total Kindle Crack! I first read about Natalie (Tony & Claire’s daughter from Consequences) and Dexter in the Glamour anthology, and I wanted more.

These two quotes sum up this basis for this story.
“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.” Edmund Burke

“Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into the water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.” Dalai Lama

Natalie enters into a relationship with Dexter. Tony & Claire start to question their youngest daughters relationship. Does Dexter love her? Is Natalie just a pawn in a revenge plot and a victim of Stockholm Syndrome?

Ripple was such a fast, unputdownable binge-worthy read. I reached the end of this 60,000-word story and was wanted more. This story didn’t end with a cliffhanger, but it left me feeling “Aleatha’d.” Dam, she’s good!

Finally! It's live!!!!
--------------
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I enjoyed the full length version of this story more than the novella as it gave more insight into the main characters and their motivations as well as what was going on with the secondary characters as things unfolded. However I felt the ending was abrupt and left me feeling dissatisfied. I hope there is more to come.

Significantly better than first 5 books in the series. Very different template. Usual BDSM, Stockholmy stuff without trying to be more than it is. No bark that isn't covered in bite. Almost like written by ghostwritter.

RIPPLES

Audiobook Review: 4 Stars

Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.

What did you like best about this story?

I love how twisted this story was. It’s dark, addictive, and enticing and I loved it. Natalie was kidnapped, tortured, mind fuck and tortured once more and despite those are the elements that I don’t like about dark romance, I totally loved Ripples, because Aleatha wrote one helluva story that kept me stick to my headphones late last night and today at work, because I couldn't put it down. I needed to know what would happen to Natalie, how she would fall in love with Dexter and how their story would wound up. And I can only say: WOW!!! Just WOW!!

He was her god and her devil. His presence and approval infiltrated even her dreams.

Which character – as performed by Kylie Stewart and Eric Rolon – was your favorite?

Natalie for sure was my favorite character in Ripples. She was a mixed combination of sweet, delicate, and docile with a strong willed and very determined personality. Kylie did an amazing job by bringing Natalie to life with her narration, with a sweet, tender voice, but also very erotic, when it was needed, of course. Eric did a great Dexter with the few chapters he had, with a very masculine and dominant voice.

How would you describe the experience of listening to Ripples?

The production of this audio was different for me. While Kylie was reading Natalie’s chapters, Eric joined in to read the male voices and vice versa. And I have to admit, as excited as I was when the audio just started, it wasn’t that great as it was progressing. Kylie and Eric’s narrations felt natural and fluent when they were narrating their own characters, but their interventions felt forced and they didn’t carry the same emotion of the main narrator. I much rather prefer a narrator who does the opposite sex voice inflection than to listen this kind of productions. But aside from that, the audiobook experience was amazing.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely, I would totally recommend it. This book/audiobook is perfect for BDSM readers—I love how very well described were the kinky scenes, especially the mind fucking, kudos to Aleatha for this—, for dark romance readers and even for people like me, who wants to try new stuff or getting out of the comfort zone. But seriously, if dark romance was my thing, I would have rated Ripples with 5 stars. Now go read it, and listen to it.

Her arousal at his arrival was more than sexual; it was genuine happiness to be freed from the prison of her lonely cell. It was relief that only Dexter could provide.

Any additional comments?

Get ready to be Aleatha’d!!!! I certainly was!!!

Ripples by Aleatha Romig

I was given the ARC for a true and honest review of this book by the author.

Amazeballs, Brilliant, Twisted, Mind Altering with a bit of Romance thrown in, these are just some of the ways I can describe this book by Aleatha.

True to form, Aleatha has captured the essence of her darker side and brought it to life for everyone else to enjoy and enjoy I did. This is Aleatha Romig at her best. Such a talented writer and always so humble about her writing. You can guarantee that when you pick up one of Aleatha Romigs books you are in for a whirlwind of a story.

I fell in love with this side of Aleatha Romig when I read the Consequences Series and was ecstatic when I found out Aleatha was writing more on the Rawlings family.

Not only did we get an insight some years on into this family but also the friends and others we enjoyed through the original series. You don’t have to have read Consequences Series to read this book.

In Ripples we get to know the youngest of the family, Natalie Rawlings, she is the baby of the family and the apple of her parent’s eyes. Natalie felt the expectations of her parents as far away as college and when things don’t go how she expected, the anxiety she feels about going home to discuss this with them weighs heavy on her.

Things change for Natalie on that trip back home, things she would never expect to happen, things she is not equipped or ready for, however, Dexter, whom you will come to either love or hate has different ideas and a plan in place. What is Dexters Motivation, what is behind his eyes? You can only truly know what is going to go on if you read this whole book. The more you read the more you will learn the motivation and determination of this man, this man who calls Natalie his Queen.

From this moment on the darker side of Aleatha comes to fruition. Throughout this story, you are left breathless waiting to see what will come next. The continued anticipation of what the next chapter will bring just keeps you reading and reading.

Here we see just how dark and twisted this can get

“That’s it, bug….” He leaned forward and kissed her cheek, tasting the salty emotion. …”you saved the tears for me.” He licked his lips. “They taste better than I imagined. I’m sure I’ll enjoy many more..

As the story goes on, so do your feelings for not only Tony and Claire and the family wondering where Natalie is, but for Natalie herself. Not everything is black and white; there are dark sides, light sides, romantic aspects but most of all twists and turns that Aleatha Romig is so good at.

I loved this book so much, the way it has been written, the content and all round storyline is brilliant, I would love to have more about this family from Aleatha as this is a family I would read every book on.

Congratulations Aleatha, another amazing book.

Rating: 4.5 stars!

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

Natalie Rawlings is tired of pretending to be the proper miss goody two shoes that she is supposed to be portrayed as for the sake of her very influential family where appearances is everything. She is constantly feeling suffocated and can no longer cope with it all. What she wants is to be free from it all but she happens to meet a charismatic stranger who captivates her. Soon she realises that its no longer a dream but a nightmare when things take a turn for the worst. History might be repeating itself but Natalie knew nothing of her family's past. She goes from a spoilt princess to a captive in the blink of an eye. She is trying hard not to allow her mind to be broken but no light seems to be at the end of this very dark tunnel that has become of her life.

Ripples was everything I could ever have wished for! We have an uber arrogant alpha-male and a sexy and witty female MC. Sparks fly when the two of the are together and the attractions is simply undeniable. It was so easy to get lost in their world- I so loved the chemistry between Dexter and Nat- they were just amazing together! Aleatha Romig is one of my favorite authors who writes the best dark contemporary romance stories out there! I simply could not have enough of all the words! This was a great spinoff of the Consequences series and as a hardcore fan, I was so not disappointed! It had the same flow as the previous books as well as the very same magic that got me hooked since the beginning of it all..

Sometimes history is destined to repeat itself.

If you read the Consequences series then you know all about Tony and Claire and how they started. This story is about their youngest daughter Natalie.

Natalie wants a life her own. She feels pressure to be perfect and do well in school. But she's had enough and is withdrawing from Harvard. On the way to France, to meet with her family for Christmas, she meets Dexter on the plane.

But Dexter has, other plans for Natalie. He's watched her for a while, and he wants her. Where as Natalie comes from everything, Dexter starts her with nothing.

Definitely one click this - it also seems there may be more to this story and I can't wait to see what happens next.
