Confessions of a Red Herring by Dana Dratch is the first book in the new cozy A Red Herring Mystery series. In this series Alex Vlodnachek had spent years as a reporter but left that industry to work in a PR firm but never expected that move would land her straight into a murder investigation.

The CEO at Alex’s new agency turned up dead and all eyes landed on Alex as the one who had done the deed but when that also gets her fired from her job and broke Alex knows she needs to clear her name. The stories begin to fly on just who Alex was aiming the attention at her so she does a little undercover investigating to find the truth but that just may put her and her family in danger.

When picking up a book and it makes me chuckle on the opening page I know that I should be in for a good read. Starting this one off that was just what happened when I read the opening….

“I felt zero guilt for calling in sick Monday. “Sick of Work” would have been more accurate.”

Ok, now really who out there can’t relate to that one?? Pretty sure it would be a pretty low percentage that had not had that thought at least once in their lives so Alex immediately became somewhat relatable already. There were a few times I think the humor fell a little short of the mark to me but plenty of times that it had me laughing too. I do think there were a few slower moments along the way in the story, perhaps when the humor wasn’t drawing me in but overall this one was a fun start to this series that I would rate at 3.5 stars and that will bring me back for more.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

This book had it all. A great mystery with twists and turns, a wacky family that provided some humour and chuckles without being over the top and a sassy, fun and interesting heroine.

There were some great suspects and I was all over the place with my guesses of who could have been the murderer. It was a fast paced mystery and Alex kept me hooked until the last page on her actions to discover the truth.

A great start to a new series and I am already looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I requested this book at Netgalley and am thankful that the publisher and author provided me with a copy.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Alex Vlodnachek’s life is a mess, she left a job she had for years that she loved for a job that pays extremely well that she hates. She can’t believe her boss tried to get her to entertain a client in his hotel room. She turned her boss down flat and walked away. She even called in sick to work on Monday to try to wrap her head around the insanity and plot a new future. That was until the police knocked on her door to tell her that her boss had been killed and she was their prime suspect. Say What??

She tries to return to the office to find out what the heck is going on but she is escorted out by security. How is she going to clear her name when she doesn’t even know the whole story? She decides to use what she learned as a reporter and start doing her own investigation. Even going undercover in the building where she was unceremoniously booted out.

If being out of a job and being a murder suspect isn’t enough she has to deal with family members that have come to visit unannounced. Her tiny little house is exploding at the seams but what’s a girl to do. Maybe they will be able to help. She just hopes she doesn’t get them killed in the process.

What a great start for this series. First of all, I absolutely love Alex and her grandmother, Baba. Don’t ask me to choose, they are both wonderful characters. In fact, the entire cast is fantastic including dog Lucy. Alex’s best friend “Trip” is the perfect best friend. We all need a Trip in our lives. Her brother, Nick, a former emu farmer, has also come to town, hoping Alex can help him smooth something over with their family. The last person they expected to arrive on the doorstep was Baba. She takes over the house, cleaning and “cooking” and she takes the job of protecting her granddaughter very seriously. Alex is a strong woman but Baba can bring her to her knees. These are strong characters and very well developed for the first book in a series.

So much happens in this story. At times, I felt my head was spinning, but the author brought everything together for one fantastic ending. I was drawn deeply into the story following leads with Alex. What was happening at that P.R. firm was just crazy, but Alex stuck with it, trying to show police there were many other suspects. She was also dealing with her old firm messing up her life in unbelievable ways. There was drama at home to stay on top of too. Alex was a real superwoman to keep juggling all those balls in the air.

This book was suspenseful and also funny. The title really fits the story. The characters were engaging and eclectic. The dialogue was realistic, there was a bit of explicit language, minimal. I really enjoyed this book start to finish. I am more than excited to see where the author takes this series.

If you are looking for a new cozy series with a fun protagonist, look no further. The one is a perfect escape!

Review:

The characters are well rounded and well developed. Alex is fiesty and spunky and does not let much slow her down. When the CEO of her company gets murdered, she is considered a person of interest. It is a good thing that she used to be a reporter. She will need all of her skills to clear her name. I enjoyed getting to meet her crazy zany family and they added a lot of humor to the book. Her two brothers and her grandmother were quite a handful and I had to laugh at some of their antics.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and those descriptions drew me into the story. The language was a little harsher than most cozies but not offensive in any way.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a humorous lighthearted cozy mystery. If you like funny you have to give this book a try.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

This was the most I ever laughed or had fun being nervous while I was reading about someone searching through an office to find intel on the bad guys and not get caught. I love this author's humor and enjoyed all the escapades that Alex and her friends and family got into.

There were so many awesome scenes, but I think my favorite had to be Alex meeting the handsome new B&B owner after a dentist appointment, and having Trip reminding her every five seconds to wipe her face which was numb from fillings and the work she'd had done. Reading the dialogue was hilarious. I loved the scene where Alex had her unemployment benefits hearing with her former company at the employment office.

I just loved these quirky characters. For starters, I was proud of how Alex was brave enough to do the office searching and determined enough to get her family in on it. She had a houseful of people that she could count on, since her brother Nick and his fiance Gabby had moved in, followed fairly quickly by their Russian grandma, Baba. Both Gabby and Baba came in extremely handy during the very cool showdown that was sort of a two-part happening. For once the sleuth had the upper hand on the perp! I found the second book on NetGalley and will be reading and reviewing it soon.

Confessions of a Red Herring by Dana Dratch is the first book in A Red Herring Mystery series. Alex Vlodnachek is a former reporter now working at the D.C. public relations firm of Coleman and Walters. After an incident with managing partner, Everett P. Coleman on Friday, Alex decided to call in sick on Monday. She is surprised when two detectives come knocking on her door to question her about Everett’s murder and Alex is their prime suspect in his death. When Alex goes into work, she is promptly fired. As if her week could not get worse, her younger brother, Nick shows up looking for a place to stay with Gabrielle, his new lady friend from Vegas, as well as a puppy named Lucy. Then Baba, her Russian grandmother, arrives which means inedible cooking (they will have to sneak in snacks). To escape the chaos in her tiny home and clear her name, Alex puts her investigative reporting talents to work. Coleman and Walters is working overtime to throw Alex under the bus in the court of public opinion. Who inside the agency wanted Everett dead? The wife, the business partner, and the mistress are all viable suspects. Someone, though, is attempting to thwart Alex with unscrupulous tactics (stealing her mail, turning off her electricity). Can Alex expose the killer before her death is the next media sensation?

Confessions of a Red Herring is full of off-beat characters. Alex is spunky go-getter. She is not going to let the PR firm set her up for murder. Nick, the younger brother, goes from one job to another. He does not know what he wishes to do with his life. His last venture (an emu farm) was sabotaged by his pot smoking partner. Gabriele is Vegas waitress that Nick picked up on his way to Alex’s house. She is a pickpocket with a questionable online business. We have Lucy the puppy who is destructive with Alex’s belongings. Baba, the Russian grandmother, who cooks grey, slimy food (the descriptions will put you off your next meal). I wish the author had taken the time to establish her main character and provide a thorough backstory. The book consisted of one madcap incident after another. The murder occurred in the first chapter and solving it was a snap. There was a great deal of speculation and repetition of details (not needed). My favorite scene in the book was the showdown at the unemployment office. I found it entertaining. The description of a banks fee system was spot on. My rating for Confessions of a Red Herring 3 out of 5 stars. I do want to mention that there is foul language in the book along with the mention of intimate scenes, drugs and copious amounts of alcohol. Those readers who prefer their cozy mysteries to be light and humorous, then Confessions of a Red Herring is for you.

Alex Vlodnachek’s Monday morning could not get any worse. She calls in sick from her job in a P.R. Firm, Coleman & Walters, after a disastrous Friday business dinner where her boss, Everett Coleman, offers her up as desert to sweeten a deal with a new client. After a heated public argument at the dinner, taking off Monday is a relief. That relief is short lived though when police officers show up knocking on her door giving her the news that Everett Coleman has been killed and she is wanted for questioning into the murder. The police, co-workers, and her neighbors thinks she did it. So, the best way of getting out of a murder investigation is finding the murderer yourself. With twelve years as a reporter under her belt prior to taking on the job with Coleman & Walters, she sets out to clear her name and get her life back. But, with so many suspects in question, finding the real killer is starting to look daunting. Will Alex manage to stay out of jail long enough to find the real person responsible?

Confessions of a Red Herring by Dana Dratch is the first book in the Red Herring Mystery series and it does not disappoint. The story start off strong and keeps on running. Alex is such a great character given her circumstances. She does not take the cloud of suspicion surrounding her laying down. Instead, she becomes proactive as her life is spiraling down the toilet. With help from a colorful cast of characters, better known as her friends and family, they set out to clear her good name. With a lot of laughs and some sleuthing, the team get themselves in situations that have you flipping the pages wondering how they never get caught. The problem they are finding though is that there are a lot of suspects in the pool to choose from and most of them are happy enough to pin the blame on Alex with their fabricated lies.

I love a plot that takes off right from the first page and Confessions of a Red Herring never faltered from its strong beginning. I found myself invested in Alex and really liking her spunkiness and stubbornness. She is a great heroine that will do anything it takes from disguising herself as the cleaning crew to gain entrance into the Coleman and Walter’s building to working the funeral dinner of her murdered boss in order to gather information. Each scene felt like a slow build up which kept me glued to the pages trying to find out the mystery behind the murder.

Confessions of a Red Herring is a five star read full of humor, characters you wish were part of your own family, and a heroine you are rooting to win right from the start. I really can’t wait to see where this series takes us. I, for one, will certainly be following up with Alex in the next installment to the series.

Confessions of a Red Herring by Dana Dratch is the first book in the new Red Herring Mystery Series. After refusing to “play nice”, Alex loses her job…and nearly loses her freedom when she is framed for her former boss’s murder.

This book had lots of elements that I loved! A great mystery with lots of unsavory characters who could be the guilty party. I loved all the humor. So many great laugh-out-loud moments. Baba was a hoot! This is one of those books that I wanted to keep reading just as much for the characters as for the mystery. I already can’t wait to read the next book with Alex and the gang.

Note: This book does have language (the f-word once, as well as some strong name-calling). I would consider this book more straight mystery than a cozy mystery due to some of the crime details as well as the use of language. The language use isn’t excessive; however, I don’t typically expect any of the “stronger” language in cozies.

I received an advanced ebook copy of this book and I am sharing my honest review. Full post/review coming to Brooke Blogs on June 9, 2018 featuring a character interview with Alex Vlodnachek.

Former reporter Alex Vlodnachek is trading a twelve-year career as a journalist to become a PR rep. But when her agency's CEO tells her she has to sleep with a client she tells him what he can do with his idea. The next day he is found dead, and Alex is the main suspect

Out of a job, and the subject of rampant speculation in the media, Alex and her best friend, Trip, use her reporting skills to try and track down a killer, before she becomes their next victim. Adding to Alex's problems is the fact her brother and his new bride have shown up on her doorstep, looking to stay for a while until they can get on a new home.

In an effort to keep herself out of jail, Alex goes undercover, to break a story, and find a killer.

This is one of the more entertaining books I have read this year. Ms. Dratch's writing flows perfectly and takes the reader on a journey that provides an entertaining tale and makes them laugh from time to time. I figured out the whodunit fairly early in the book, but I still enjoyed taking the journey to figure out why, and to see what would happen next. The only thing that kept this from being a five star book was the fact I did figure it out so soon.

I liked Alex, maybe because as a former journalist I identified with her as she went about the investigation. I liked her style, and that made her a very likable heroine and made me wonder what will come next of her. It was a good thing there was a sample of the next book, Seeing Red. I have put it on the top of my wish list.

I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Confessions of a Red Herring by Dana Dratch is a lively and twisted mystery that I hope is only the beginning of a new series.

Alex Vlodnachek is a ex-reporter that thought she was making the right move into P.R. but it turned out to be a bad choice almost from the start. I really liked Alex. She is smart, spunky, stubborn and determined. She's been set up for a murder and she will find out who is behind it all. Her friend, Trip, is an absolute doll; and I want him for a best friend, too. Her brother, Nick, her grandmother, Baba come to visit which only adds to the chaos. The plot moved smoothly with plenty of suspects who have motives for wanting the man dead. I was on track with Alex as to who the real culprit(s) were but the reveal was still enlightening. Beware of grandmothers with cast iron frying pans. There were often humorous moments and a few sad ones, too; but I found that be realistic. I look forward to meeting Alex's sister and mother and getting to know them better - hopefully in the next book.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own.

Well written with an intricate plot, CONFESSIONS OF A RED HERRING is a good debut book for author Dana Dratch.

Ms. Dratch wasted no time getting to the murder in this whodunit. And, her protagonist, Alex Vlodnachek , found herself to be the lead suspect in the before the end of first chapter! While I love a fastmoving book, I would like to haven gotten to know Alex a bit more. As for the victim, I didn’t need any time to get to know him.He was very smarmy, and any number of people would have been happy to do him in.

Some of the language wasn’t necessary for a cozy. Not a lot of it, but enough for it to stick out at me. I’m finding more and more “cozy” authors using cursing in their books. Be it mild or not, it simply isn’t needed in this type of book.

I didn’t solve the mystery in CONFESSIONS OF A RED HERRING, but when I read the killer’s name it all because clear and I couldn’t believe I must have overlooked some clues that would have helped me guess successfully. All those red herrings the author through in really did a number on me.

Red-headed Alexandra 'Alex' Vlodnachek is a former journalist/current PR hack who just became the prime suspect (or is she?) in the murder of her [former] boss at the scurilous PR firm where she's most recently worked. Said scurilous PR firm makes a viper's nest look filled garden snakes, but everyone is so busy setting Alex up to take the fall for his murder, Alex decides she will just have to investigate and find the real murderer and the evidence to convict.

This is absolutely hilarious. I smiled through the entire book and definitely laughed out loud a few times. The tone is often wry: My online dating profile, if I had one, might as well read: "Broke murder suspect, cleans tiolets for a living, seeks worldly sophisticate for court appearances, jailhouse romance. Turn-ons should include: rubber gloves and industrial cleaning solvents. Experience with nail files in cakes a plus. Must love dogs.

In addition to Alex, her tiny bungalow suddenly becomes temporary home to her younger brother Nick and his wife/fiancee/larcenous companion Gabby, Russian grandma Baba, and the most adorable puppy named Lucy who stole every scene she was in. Along the way we also meet her editor from her former job Trip, who is a bonafide male steel magnolia, her model-turned-entreprenuer sister Annie, and a cast of characters from the PR company that is culled from every awful boss or co-worker you can ever have had. Oh, and let's not forget the bridezillas...you had to be there.

I'm already itching to read the next-in-series.

I have mixed feelings about this mystery. On the one hand I love Alex Vlodnachek. She's a fun, vibrant, feisty character with an interesting family. I especially liked Baba. Alex finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation when an employee of the agency she works for is stabbed. Everyone seems to believe Alex did the deed. Alex decides to investigate the case to prove her innocence and find the guilty party. She does have some creative ways of sleuthing. The story is funny at times. However, the story didn't draw me in and hold me. In fact, I thought it was work to read it and get through it. I was disappointed with so much profanity and brief adult comments. I'm sorry to say, the story just wasn't for me. I honestly don't know how many stars to give it. So 3*** stars it is!

Confessions of a Red Herring by Dana Dratch is the 1st book in A Red Herring Mystery series, and my first book by this author. Alex Vlodnachek was a reporter for 12 years, but left that job to become a P. R. rep. After 3 months at her new job, her boss made an inappropriate request, causing an argument. When the boss turns up dead, she becomes the main suspect. Confessions of a Red Herring is a perfect blend of mystery and humor. Not only is this book really funny, I often found myself laughing out loud, the mystery kept me guessing. I found this book to be a quick read, I read it in one day, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you love humorous cozy mysteries, I recommend this book and series.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Alex Vlodnachek is having a rough day. She lost her job, was thought to be having an affair with her boss and is now a murder suspect.
That is just the tip of the iceberg in Confessions of a Red Herring.
A jealous wife, a mistress and an angry partner are the least of Alex's worries at first.
Her brother shows up at her door with a wife, who seems to have a questionable way of making money. Then her grandmother shows up and that's when things start to heat up in this 5 star winner.

The story was well written and the words flowed smoothly from the pages. I was soon caught up in the story and was rooting for Alex the whole time.

I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

A twisted story that will keep the reader on their toes. Red Herring in this story has a whole new meaning.
Alex has switched over from being a reporter to a P.R. It turned out not to be the bet move she has done. She has been set up of a murder and with her brother Nick, friend Trip, Her grandmother, Baba he is going to find out what happened.

The characters were great and I love Baba. You can’t beat a great grandmother with frying pans. Alex is spunky and stubborn which I like about her the most. The author does a great job with the story that you want to keep reading. I will be looking for the next book in the series.

Alex Vlodnachek was a reporter who recently went into P.R. because the CEO offered her a salary she couldn't refuse. What she could refuse, however, is his offer to sleep with a client. After a very vocal argument at a local restaurant where she told him no, she discovers that he's been murdered that same weekend. Now she's not only on the hot seat, she's been fired from her job and the new CEO has threatened her with being sued and ruined her chances of ever getting another job. If Alex is to save her own career -- and life -- she needs to find out who killed the man and why...

This is the beginning of a new series and a hefty book for a cozy running at 428 pages. Which isn't to say that I didn't want to read it, because I did. But I also felt that a lot of it could have been trimmed down a tad since a lot of it wasn't needed to add to the story.

This book also had a lot of situations that were there to provide 'comic relief,' but just seemed off in the story, and because of that I had a hard time getting through this book. Turning off her electricity, a new sister-in-law who's a thief, a grandmother who cooks inedible, grey food -- most of it just wasn't needed to get to the meat of the story, of which there was very little.

Alex's life was being sabotaged at every turn by employees of the P.R. firm, including an ex-boyfriend who made up lies to get his fifteen minutes of fame -- and she didn't even confront him about it. However, there was a very funny scene at the unemployment office which I thought should have set the tone for the rest of the book, it didn't.

Actually, the character I liked best was the British neighbor, Ian Sterling, but we will have to wait and see if he is in any of the other books. I will say that while I wasn't enthralled with this first one, I will read the second -- but only if it isn't the heft of this one, since we don't need the extraneous information to carry a mystery.

In the end, I had already known the murderer, because it wasn't difficult to figure out who was setting up Alex to take a fall, although it just wasn't all that intriguing, to be honest. The way the murderer was captured also wasn't all that intriguing, and there wasn't really a decent climax, but again, I'll probably pick up the next to find out in which direction the series is going to go.

Confessions of a Red Herring by Dana Dratch is the first to a new cozy mystery series. Murder, mayhem, and suspense all wrapped in one great plot. I instantly took a liking to the main character, Alex Vlondnachek. Her vibrant nature called to me. She's the woman I see myself being best friends with...she has seen,,heard, and witness enough craziness to tell anyone. Her work life is total chaos. The employers have no sens of morals and Alex seems to hold up the fort with professional attitude and decor. The things they expect her to do...well, I can definitely understand her frustration. Alex is framed for a crime she didn't commit. Her whole life went from handling crazies at work to being put on the spotlight as a murderer. Alex being a former reporter must find out who did commit the murder she's being framed for and why. That's where her friend, Trip, came...together they can maybe find the killer before it's too late.

Dana Dratch combines family drama and humor in a way that was intriguing. I was rolling my eyes and laughing so hard, I cried. Alex's family isssues is hilarious. Her youngest brother sells his farm and marries a girl without having money, a job, or a place to live in...luckily her other brother is a lawyer and can help her with legal advice. Being convicted of a murder is not something Alex took lightly. The cast of characters were easy to like. They felt real. There was no easy road for Alex or her family which made this book even better. I love a plot that can hold my attention to the end and be realistic, too. Confessions of a Red Herring is engaging, funny, and full, of adventure. I recommend this mystery to all readers.

A great lite mystery book with humor and a few twists and turns that keep you guessing without annoying characters!

Alex is having a bad week when her job at the PR firm she thought would be a dream, but wasn't comes to an end when she is fired and suspected of murdering her boss. With surprise new room-mates and trying to straighten out her life and get off the suspect list she does a little snooping of her own. Filled with likable characters, humor, some spy like snooping and a little danger this mystery is one you'll want to get to the bottom of and enjoy doing so.

I eagerly await the next book in the series.

The first book of a new series, a Red Herring. Alex Vlodnachek is working as a Public Relations company when her boss attempts to pimp her out to a customer. She publicly rejects him and leaves. A couple of days later, the police show up and arrest her for his murder. She has an alibi and is clear but rumors are spread that she killed him. Her brother and his new wife join her, and their elderly grandmother arrives unexpectedly. Before long her small home is overwhelmed with guests. She meets Ian next door who is converting a Victorian mansion to a B&B resident. Will her nemesis succeed with her plan to send Alex to jail. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND SERIES.

This book was great! Honestly it wasn’t my normal genre- but I took a chance and so glad I did. The author writes a spunky mess of a girl and she kept me breezing through chapter after chapter. It was a great novel and I can’t wait for the second! I even let my mother in law read it, she reads a lot of mystery and she liked it too! The end was one I didn’t expect and the author didn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for a funny girl who will make you feel light hearted well look no further!!

When I started this book I wasn't too sure if I was going to like the story or characters...it seemed to drag (but could have been my mood).  But once I was better acquainted with the characters and the story picked up steam, I fell in love with it all.  The term "red herring" takes on a whole new meaning with this book.  This book has it all - crazy family members, insane former employers, humorous situations, and a wild mystery all rolled into one.  I don't know if I can choose a favorite character, but Baba (Alex's Russian grandmother) and Trip top the list.

This mystery confirmed that if you royally piss off an employer it could be dangerous to your health and life.  One of my favorite scenes is where Alex is at the unemployment office because her former employer is contesting her unemployment pay.  Let's just say, don't piss off government workers.  That's all I'm going to say but trust me when I say you'll want to pick up this book to read this scene!  There are other scenes that left me dumbfounded at the actions of others, but it takes all types in this world.

I think this is going to be one of my new favorite series and I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

We give this 5 paws up.

Alex Vlodnachek is the sleuth of this story. She was a reporter (at low pay) for many years. Just a few months ago, Alex left her newspaper job for a high-paying job in public relations. The PR firm she works for leaves a lot to be desired. They push their employees to work crazy hours and seem to fire them fairly quickly.

When the boss tries to “give” Alex to a client for a night, Alex chews him out in public and figures she is out of a job. When the boss turns up murdered, Alex becomes the number one suspect. People who were her work-friends turn against her and blame her as well.

If that wasn’t enough, members of Alex’s family descend upon her. It is a plot, obviously, to drive her completely insane. Though, not crazy enough to stop her from noticing the new good looking, Englishman who has purchased the neighborhood wreck across the street from her home.

Alex turns to her newspaper roots and looks for the real murderer. Along the way, we learn to love the crazy family as well as the crazy neighbors.

The story is fun and funny. The mystery is good as well. I had a lot of fun following the “red herrings” the author left in the story. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series and finding out where Alex sleuths next.

Fun! This is the first installment in a new series, and I'm happy to say I'm looking forward to book #2. I liked the characters and their development, and I honestly wasn't sure who the criminal was until the final reveal. In some ways, this book reminded me of early Evanovich, with the wacky family members and ongoing issues for our heroine. However, there's no Lula, and a lot less foul language. There is, however, a crazy grandmother, Baba, who I really liked.

And then there's Lucy, the little dog who wins over everyone. So cute!

I will say that I was rather shocked at the length of the book, over 400 pages, but it didn't feel like it bogged down or dragged. I'm also pleased that a potential romantic interest was introduced, but just barely; I like to watch that sort of thing develop over time, not have the characters immediately hit the sheets.

Overall, an excellent start.

**I voluntarily read this ARC**

This was a very interesting book with some unique twists. I loved the kooky cast of characters - especially Alex's family. I really enjoyed the mystery, but it did feel like it was missing something.

This light and humorous cozy mystery is an enjoyable read, a bit slow in places but entertaining with off-beat characters. Alex goes from a long time reporter to a PR Representative to being a prime murder suspect. Her boss is stabbed and her co-workers cast her as a suspect. She eventually goes undercover to try to unmask the murderer. The first of a series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaways for an honest review.

You know a book is a hit when (a) you smile when you first get into it because you realized you recognize the characters from a previously read title in the series, and (b) the first action you take the second you finish is to go check if there are any other titles in the same series! I accidentally read Book #2 before Book #1 and it didn't matter. Both books stand on their own just fine but they are terrific together. Highly recommended.

Confessions of a Red Herring was a fun, cozy mystery and I cannot wait to read the next two books in the series.
