I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

A doctor's wife is dying of cancer. A mysterious phone call offers him a way to save his wife, only it might not be completely legal. Of course, he accepts.

From there, we get murder and betrayal and deceit, all to get or keep the Macguffin Device, in this case, a gene therapy that can find cancer and affect only those cells, with no side effects.

It's okay, but a bit too busy.

In the Wrong Hands is my first book by Avi Domoshevizki, but it certainly won’t be my last. With believable, well developed characters and a thrilling plot, this page turner was hard to put down. I especially liked how the author displays how life-saving discoveries can become deadly in the wrong hands. I give this well-written and intriguing book 4.7/5⭐️

Book Review: In The Wrong Hands by Avi Domoshevizki #BookReview

In The Wrong Hands: Action Packed Mysterious Murder Investigation (The Technothriller & Crime series Book 2) by Avi Domoshevizki has a lot beyond what you would expect from a technothriller. There are 75 action-packed chapters in this 340-page book. The postmortem of a homeland security agent shows the cause as a sudden and simultaneous collapse of his blood vessels. Another murder with the same symptoms creates a high-level of pressure on the investigating agencies. It puts them on their heels to find out this new kind of killer.

Gadi, a former military police investigator takes the charge to find out the murderer. He knows this is not a simple case of killing. He starts working on this case along with Dr. Roni Saar. Roni is the CEO of Double N, a genetic research organization. They both come to know certain intriguing and astonishing facts while going deeper in the investigation. This is a story of DNA alteration showing how right things can create havoc when land in wrong hands.

It is interesting to know how the author, Avi Domoshevizki is able to write such a high-end engrossing technothriller. It is in fact because of two reasons. Firstly, the author is himself a high-tech entrepreneur. Secondly, In The Wrong Hands is a result of author's year-long research on the topic. That includes deep discussions with relevant people in medical science.

Imagine how would the lady feel having sex with the man she loves during their last meeting for the revival of their breakup when she tells the man she hasn't have any pills and the man says it doesn't matter as he loves her. The words that she was craving to listen right from the time of their first meeting are melting in her ears at this juncture of life. It was, in fact, more than enough to bring to her happiness and surprise together.

At that juncture, the lady didn't know in few minutes she would be on the verge of dying due to a severe pain in her heart and the love of her life would be looking at her with just a cold smile instead of rushing for an immediate medical assistance for her, despite her asking for it. That is just an intense beginning of the story of In The Wrong Hands that holds a lot of suspense, thrill, and action in every chapter. Just grab the copy and enjoy this addictive story by Avi Domoshevizki.

When a body is found with as cause of death the simultaneous collapse of the man’s blood vessels, that’s shocking. When a second body is found, with the exact same cause of death, that’s enough to cause panic. A new, highly sophisticated killer is on the loose…

Ronni Saar, CEO of Double N, a genetic research organization, and Gadi, former military police investigator, are the two men perhaps most-equipped to catch the killer. But the search for the truth could lead them right to the killer’s doorstep, putting their own lives, and the lives of their family, at risk.

Despite containing a lot of technical and medical information, this was explained in an easy, straightforward way that made it easy to understand. Despite the fast-paced plot, it’s the characters, intriguing, three-dimensional, complex, that carry the story.

Science and science fiction collide in this mind-bending thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

“She couldn’t have recognized me, because she didn’t know me.”

Israeli author Avi Domoshevizki holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Israel Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in business from a joint program of Boston University and Ben-Gurion University. He is an author, high-tech entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and guest lecturer at leading Israeli business schools, having served in the military communications corps and the Paratroopers Brigade. Avi is a creator – both in business and in writing (IN THE WRONG HANDS is his second novel in his technocrime thriller series. In addition to writing he addresses audiences and universities on entrepreneurship.

Not unlike his initial book GREEN KILLS this volume two is vested in medical aspects of story weaving as well. As Avi has stated, ‘I have no doubt that the meteoric progress made in recent years in the field of genetics will change the face of the world - and faster than we believe. Like any other technology, its contribution to humanity depends mainly upon who controls it. This is all the more so with genetics. As with all my books, I try to make a mental leap about a specific technology and describe what can happen when it falls into the wrong hands. On the one hand, it has never been easier for me to come up with new ideas. The problem was that I soon discovered that these scenarios had already come to pass.’

In his well-scribed Prologue Avi sets the tone of his novel – ‘The tears refused to stop flowing from her eyes, which were fixed on him in a silent plea. The pain spreading through her chest was unbearable. She prayed that the sight of the hotel room would not be the last thing etched in her mind before her soul returned to her maker. When she’d begun fantasizing about an affair with him, she’d told herself she was probably delusional. But the realization that she would never forgive herself unless she dared and gave it a try had given her the courage to expose her emotions to him. When she had confessed her love, he’d just looked at her open-mouthed. He tried to dissuade her from thinking they could be together, but she persisted. Although she wasn’t stunningly beautiful, she had a sort of magnetism about her. The kind that has blinded men ever since the invention of sex, and she knew it. Despite her youth, she had had quite a few relationships already. All her lovers had been young and good-looking, but also immature. Her attraction for them had never lasted more than a month. It was different with him. It was the first true love she had ever experienced. Her mother, the only person with whom she dared to share her true feelings, simply scoffed. “You are too different,” she’d said repeatedly. “In time your love will dissolve, and you’ll understand that you’ve wasted your youth chasing after a hopeless dream.” But time had passed, and her love had only grown stronger. Sex with him was different. He’d proven to be a gentle, considerate lover. She had never imagined she would ever use the word “considerate” to describe such a pleasurable sexual experience. He was also the smartest man she had ever met. He was shrouded in a halo of silent mystery. Behind his back, people said he was brilliant, but an odd duck. If only those cruelhearted gossipmongers could know him like she did, they would surely change their minds. A few months earlier, he had let her know that their affair was over. He had not bothered to provide any explanation and dismissed all her attempts to renew their relationship with aching frigidity. She kept hoping he would come around one day and understand that she was the only one for him. Just the day before, after another desperate attempt on her part, he had surprisingly agreed to meet. She suggested they meet in the same hotel room in which he had broken up with her, and he promised to be there. She had always believed in the power of fate. She had no doubt in her heart this was the right place for them to renew their love. She saw his willingness to meet as proof of the existence of justice in the universe. He arrived, wearing his finest clothes and holding a bottle of fine cabernet. Soon enough, the clothes dropped from their bodies and they found themselves wallowing in the sumptuous sheets. The sex was just as exciting as she had dreamed it would be. Better than ever. He didn’t even insist on protection. “I’m not taking any pills,” she whispered in his ear. “That’s all right. I love you.” He surprised her with the words she had yearned to hear from the day they met. A delicious shiver passed through her. Never had she been so happy. When she climaxed and rested her head on his shoulder, thanking him for coming back, he gently embraced her and did not urge her to be quiet as he normally did. He poured her a glass of wine and gazed at her tenderly. “Why aren’t you drinking, my love?” she whispered. She closed her eyes as his hand stroked her cheek. “It’s a long story,” he sighed. “My health is not what it used to be.” When the pain began throbbing behind her rib cage, she asked him to call for help. He smiled and told her not to worry. After all, she was too young to suffer a heart attack while having sex. Black spots crashed inside her eyes. The pain became unbearable. She turned to look at him, her lips muttering urgent requests for help. The last thing she saw was his cold smile as he removed the handheld vacuum from his bag.‘

The synopsis of this spellbinding novel outlines the plot well – ‘ a thriller full of unexpected twists and intriguing characters, delves into the real-life world of DNA editing, where science and science fiction are about to meet and change the face of medicine forever. Two unrelated bodies...A homeland security agent is found dead. Shocking evidence reveals the cause of death is the simultaneous collapse of the man’s blood vessels. Powerful writing from a man who knows his craft well and is destined to rise in the ranks of great mystery authors of our century.

A scientific thriller taken from current genetic research, this is a thoroughly engaging novel which will keep you turning the pages until the early dawn. The scientific scenarios could all truly become reality--and that possibility is frightening. I received this novel as part of the Goodreads Giveaway program.

This is a really great book. Avi Domoshevizki's In The Wrong Hands begins with apparently numerous plot lines, but by the end, they all somehow come together. Great characters, tons of action and lots of scientific genetic explanation. For me, the repetitive scientific details slowed the action more than I would like. Perhaps that is because I know something about the subject. I was given a copy of this book and have volunteered to write this review. Well worth reading.

In The Wrong Hands - My first book by this author and I enjoyed it immensely. The world of DNA and genetics is fascinating and scary, and this book shares that fascination and the dual usage of good and evil. The book is well written and well thought out. Many of the characters were interesting and fascinating to watch as the story unfolded. I was wrong about the snitch of Dr. Fine.

The technical information was easily understood and the ramifications clear about what could happen if this technology was placed in the wrong hands. The book is suspenseful, intriguing and extremely interesting; a very substantial read. Fast paced and action packed, too.

Well edited, thank you for that Mr. Domoshevizki. If you like Crichton and Cook, you'll like this author, too. 5*

Author Avi Domoshevizki weaves an outstanding and noteworthy mystery, thriller & suspense story where science and science fiction collide. With intriguing twists and turns it will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning. The author paints a gripping and mesmerizing story in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and conviction. It’s a fast-paced novel that will keep you engaged from the first page to the last.

The book description gives a sneak preview: ‘A homeland security agent is found dead. Shocking evidence reveals the cause of death is the simultaneous collapse of the man’s blood vessels. When a second body, sharing the same gruesome symptoms is found the hunt is on for a frightening new kind of killer.

A vicious assault on his leading genetics researcher puts Dr. Ronni Saar, the CEO of Double N, and his friend Gadi, a former military police investigator, on the trail of a sophisticated killer. The deeper Gadi digs, and the more he learns, the more dangerous the terrain becomes. When the search for the truth puts the two men and their wives directly in the path of the killer, they learn a painful truth - no one is beyond suspicion.

And then the killer knocks on their door...’

Now, if that’s not enough to get your curiosity juices flowing, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens, you’ll just have to turn the pages for yourself! However, I will say it was well worth the read. It’s my first time reading this author and I must say I was very impressed.

This was a captivating read that had me engrossed from the beginning. The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There’s an ample supply of attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a compelling and gripping journey.

It’s one of those books that come along occasionally that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader.

If this book is anything to go by, I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from Avi Domoshevizki in the future. I would recommend this book to all fans of the mystery, thriller and suspense genre, and would add that it has a has a distinctly cinematic feel to it. I honestly think this would make a great movie. A well-deserved five stars from me.

Having read book #1 "Green Kills", I was excited to be provided the opportunity to read "In the Wrong Hands". I was not disappointed in the least. The newest story in the series is well written with a storyline that keeps the reader involved and facing story twists and surprises throughout. Good characterization, multiple plot lines and scientific possibilities, all lead to a 4 star recommended read.

Every invention is a boon unless and until it is used for the benefit of mankind and universe. But the bitter truth is that every discovery or invention is not only misused but also abused by man. And “In The Wrong Hands” by Avi Domoshevizki is one such tale where the author has penned a very interesting and thought provoking story based on uses and abuses of scientific researches, discoveries and inventions. What made the book all the more interesting for me is the fact that I have been a student of genetics and so this was something that really hooked me with its concept and storyline.
The story is a mix of mystery, thriller & suspense tale where science and science fiction go hand in hand with each other. With the right dosage of twists and turns, the book is definitely a captivating read containing all the ingredients to keep the reader hooked till the end. The story is well researched and the narration is lucid and vivid.
The language is easy to understand. Like the blurb promises, the book is indeed a thriller full of unexpected twists and intriguing characters that delves into the real-life world of DNA editing, where science and science fiction are about to meet and change the face of medicine forever.
Overall, “In The Wrong Hands” by Avi Domoshevizki is a fascinating read recommended to all who love reading science fiction and thrillers.

This is book two in the Technothriller and Crime series by the author. Book one, Green Kills, introduced readers to characters Ronnie and Gadi and the world of big pharmaceutical innovation and research. The new medicines developed can make profits in the billions. This book can be read as a complete standalone book and deals with DNA editing. Something that could change medicine and crime solving completely.

The premise of what could happen if certain technology got into the wrong hands is shown in an exciting manner in this book. The death of a Homeland Security agent, after failing a simple security check at his place of work and a gruesome manner. Ronnie is now a CEO of Double N, whose leading genetics researchers have developed an algorithm to target specific DNA and tissues. His head researcher is viciously assaulted and important papers and his laptop go missing. Did someone attack him for the information on his laptop or was it a mugging?

Ronnie asks his long-time friend to come and help investigate the case, as the police are just treating it as a mugging. Ronnie has to declare information might be missing and loses most of his investors. Someone else is behind this and has a killer on their payroll. A desperate man, losing his wife to cancer, another man being tried for multiple murders and somehow they are connected.

The more Gadi learns, the more dangerous it becomes for Ronnie, him and their wives. A contract killer is after them and the person who hired the killer, wants them to disappear. All loose ends to be tidied up. Another death in a similar manner as the first, finally brings others into play. The use of DNA editing is brought into the story in an intriguing manner. Not quite for the use the research team developed it for and they know that, in the wrong hands, it could be used for various nefarious means.

It would give away some key parts of the story to explain this any further. The author has provided simple explanations as part of the story, when the technical talk gets too much for the non-scientific characters. It also helps us readers! A great medical technology innovation story with the added action of a thriller. The realms of what can be developed are there for you to discover and believe or disbelieve, as you will. What was science fiction just years ago, is now reality in many other developments and inventions. What happens in this story could be closer to the truth than we currently know. A few years’ time makes for great leaps in technology of all kinds.

Several different threads to start the book, but you get to see where each thread is taking you in the end. Some are very convoluted and show just how little we know about those close to us and how you can never know who you can trust. It also shows how true friendship can be kept over many years, life events and great distance. A book of opposites in a way. One side for evil and the other for good. I can’t wait to see if there are going to be some more of the Ronnie and Gadi duo in future books. The author certainly knows how to research matters to make them believable and this shows in the book.

I would recommend it to others. This is not a light read or thriller with just one main stream of action to follow. It is complicated and deals with scientific innovation, hacking, guns for hire and determination of two characters trying to find out what is going on and to save their families lives. I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Loved it!

Gripping is the perfect description for this novel.
I love technology, I am thrilled with the new information we are learning everyday. There are so many brilliant minds working for the good of mankind. I just wish that there weren’t as many bad.
This book had both. Maintaining a balance is a must in a good book, for me anyway.
This writer worked hard on his research. He brought his characters to life. I felt like they were real.nothing in this story was unbelievable. It feels like something that could happen.

!This is a classic good guy vs. bad guy thriller. The prize being sought is new medical technology that could greatly benefit mankind. Throughout the book, you are on the edge of your seat as you rocket through the twists and turns. Will the good guys get the prize - and just who are the good guys, anyway?
You are in good hands as the author guides you to a satisfying conclusion. I recommend this book
