Dragon's fate

This story was good the characters were interesting but I felt that more could've been done with it. Details that would have made it richer in content should have been added. There is room for improvement.😇 I would recommend to readers.😇

Dear Goodreader.
Please keep in mind that this is not a review but more of the explanation.
My newly-developed medical condition severely restricts my reading time, making it even so more precious. That means that I had to become totally ruthless in ditching books that failed to meet my personal basic reading requirements of storyline, characters and “readability factor”. By no means it indicates that book is a stinker and won’t be enjoyed by other readers – it only means that that particular book and I are wrong for each other (a bit like relationships). In case of Dragon King’s Prisoner, for me, it failed the “readability factor”. I found writing style lacking any type of fluidity with too much ‘telling” not “showing”. The hammer finally came down when I have come across:” Freshly coronated as a King” phrase (even spellcheck was puzzles by this one). It will be joining other examples of butchered English that I have come across while watching one of my favourite TV shows, Judge Judy, such as ‘tooken (taken)’ ‘axed(asked), ‘conversated’ (conversed) and ‘borrowed him/her money (lend him/her money)

A short story about Anna, who works in the Comic Shop, picks up a replica of a sword and goes back into time and different universe, where dragons and magic are real.

Let me tell you this- I didn't really like it. I'm not sure what's wrong about this plot but it wasn't even executed nicely. I've read it all because it was quite easy and quick read but I'm just left with a feeling that I didn't really need to read this. I didn't really needed this in my life.

Dragons- cool, warriors- cool but why so cheesy, why so... Weird?

I'm leaving 2.5 stars, rounding up to 3.

Cheers!

This is my honest and voluntary review for this ARC.

She is the "nerd" who works at a book store, loves science fiction, into role-playing games, holding onto her innocence and living day to day. While at work, a seemingly regular day, opening the shipments of merchandise to put away, Anna comes across something a little different than the usual merchandise. Texting her roommates, she needs help to buy this item. They are not as into it as she is though. Trying not to lose all hope, she starts to clean it up and then her regular day just became a whole lot more interesting and definitely not regular at all.

He is a dragon shifter and the king. He has had a good life so far, until sorrow plagued his life. He had a mate, a son and a daughter. Now all he has left is his son. However just as every "teenage" boy and their father....there is a lot of discontent and rebellion. In fairness, his son has not been horrible with it, but the hanging on to things no longer in their life wears thin. Indulf goes about his daily routine, the next thing he knows, there is utter chaos. His guards weren't even aware of this chaos happening until it happened.

Neither Anna or Indulf understand or even believe what is happening. Anna seems more unable to grasp this event than Indulf, but that might be because of his past and being a shifter. There is no other way to treat this human female, she has to questioned, he needs to find out what she wants or what she is after. For protection she is jailed. Indulf is not a softie, but he is definitely not brutish with her. He questions her, she questions him, and there is a lot to learn from each other. It is when Indulf's son finds out that the real chaos begins.

The king can't back down from punishment when warranted, and in the case of what the son does, there is a "duel" called. There is a specific tradition for dragon shifters before a fight. He goes to Anna, shares this information with her. She has already been thinking about him, in no innocent girl ways, since she arrived. This tradition changes them, for the better. There is a lot of twists that happen, a lot of chaos when the son is involved, a battle, a big twist that helps Anna return to where she was. Only this is not what she wanted after all, separation can definitely make the heart grow fonder, and it very much so does. It also helps when there is no more separation for Indulf and Anna, it also leads to another sweeter surprise for them, but this time they are facing this together.

This was a quick read that started out fun and then moved along too fast to end still fun. Also, the title is incredibly misleading because she was a prisoner for I think less than 12 hours, certainly less than a day. I really liked the beginning when Anna, a normal nerdy girl, was geeking out over a prop sword and then was magically transported to another world. She was a believable character who was awkward, confused, and terrified for her life, but also a little excited to be in a world where dragons were real. Not to mention the fact that the dragon king, Indulf, she appears before is crazy hot.

But it didn't take long for any novelty to wear off. After an attempt on Indulf's life, things happen with very little explanation and then are over just as quickly as they escalated. It also made no sense how Indulf's mages were able to open a portal back to Anna's world just by studying her considering she has absolutely no magic herself.

With a portal to her world now a reality, Anna is super excited to be able to go back home. At first. But the more time she spends with Indulf, and the closer the day of her leaving comes, the more she doesn't want to go. Can't blame her there. Who would want to leave a sexy, attentive, dragon king? But leave she does. And oh does she regret it. Fortunately for her, a few months later, her future shows back up in front of her and she can take back her happy ever after.

The ending seemed really rushed, even considering the pace of the rest of the book. Though I am glad that not a lot of time was spent in Anna's world. The surprise at the end was a little annoying in it's convenience though.

All in all, this was good, bordering on okay, but not a waste of time. Though I don't see myself reading any more of this series.

Anna and the King is a fabulous tale of love, romance and adventure. Anna is a Dungeon and Dragon gamer who works in the comic book store she has just received the shiny new sword that her boss has ordered to sale, she has decided that she wants to purchase the sword even though she knows that it is not the real thing. Her friends thinks she is crazy to want to spend so much and they will not agreed to help her buy it. She is so into it that she takes it back out the display case and her story begins. While Anna is in the 21st century her future is back in the 10th century or there about. He is Indulf the king of the dragon shifters and his son Warmund is determined to go and find his sister who he believes is in the future where she was taken a 1,000 years ago. The Mages have not figured how exactly to get back to that time as of yet. But they may be in luck because Anna finds herself standing one minute holding the sword in the store and the next in the middle of the thrown room and the King is furious because he thinks she was sent there to kill him but he and the others cannot figure out how she got into the inner castle. She becomes his prisoner for a short time. Anna and the King is a time travel adventure that will keep you reading until the end. Some great characters in this lovely story line. Recommend. I was given a copy as a gift from author. I am providing an honest review without obligation.

What do you get when you combine dragons and time travel? A wonderful tale that you won't be able to put down! Ms. Wylder has outdone herself once again with this awesome story of a modern day heroine, and an ancient dragon, even if he does look like he's still a young thirty-something god-like hunk of a man!
She never meant to find herself in the predicament she did, so when Anna finds herself in an ancient castle-like dragon den, brandishing a shiny new sword that she was "testing out" at the comic shop at which she worked as a clerk, she didn't know what to do! What's a girl-geek to do when you're confronted by a band of god-like men threatening to tear you apart? Surrender of course! If only their leader, Indulf, wasn't so panty-melting good looking. Caught by surprise by the sudden appearance of the goddess in front of his eyes, Indulf is quite abrupt. But there is something about the curvy woman that grabs at his heart-strings. Is she truly from the future? Or is she another witch trying to kill him like they did his mate?
So much excitement mixed in with lots of heat, this book is sure to please! Absolutely loved it and looking forward to the next episode in the series.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.

Slow to start, but it builds up nicely! This book starts off a little pedantic, but it picks up steam and excitement as it moves along. I thought Anna was delightful, just the right mix of fearful and fearless, like a puppy let loose in a butcher shop, her geek-girl vacillated between wanting to go home and living the Dungeons and Dragons life. I could totally get where she was coming from. The king and his son were not nearly as clearly drawn, but they were also easy to understand. It felt rushed at the end, but I suppose the questions it leaves will be answered in forthcoming books. All in all, it was a very enjoyable read, with drama, dragon fights, damsels in distress and time traveling geek-girl who confuses the dragons with her modern day conversations, some of which will make you smile when you are reading them. Definitely looking forward to the rest of the series!

Great short read. Anna is such a nerd and who is into comics and D&D. Her friends tolerate her, but when a sword comes into the shop they refuse to help her buy it. When she is acting out with it she all of a sudden is in another world, where dragons actually live. Indulf is king in this world and thinks Anna is there to kill him at first. Indulf has a son who can not be king because he was not born to Indulf's mate. Indulf's daughter was taken and his wife was killed. He does not know what to think of Anna and Anna thinks she's dreaming. Will they figure it out? Will thinks work out for Indulf and his kids? Will Anna and Andulf figure out that everything is real? What will happen with their feelings. I received an arc copy for my honest review.

Skip,,,really just skip

Never given just one star before but I just couldn’t give more. Where to start....well the first part of this book was pretty short. The hero was not very likable and Anna wasn’t much better. He was more likable by the end but there were so many holes in the story and everything just wrapped up almost out of the blue, that negated is characters improvement.
Then the bonus story was horrible. The main hero, Seph hooks up with two woman after meeting his ‘mate’. The first one is much younger and in a emotional state and he has sex with her in his car after offering to be friends the whole night...uugghhh not cool. And the next hookup is just as uugghh.
I’ve a few of this writers stuff before and it was entertaining but this is just NOT.

💕When Dungeons and Dragons becomes more than a game! 🐲
May 7, 2018
Format: Paperback
👍Good, well-written🐲 paranormal 💓romance with excellent proportions of action, humor, 💕romance and 🔥steam. The hero 🐉dragon shifter came off as the strong, silent type with heavy burdens and a joyless life until fantasy enthusiast Anna stumbled into his life. Loved the D&D and LOTR references and how, despite her initial disbelief in the magical world she lands in, Anna eventually adjusts to living with dragons as If she is simply living out one of her games!

Fine as a standalone though the secondary characters, like the hero's son and daughter, still have a lot of possibilities for their own sequel.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Oh Dungeons and Dragons...happy memories for my sons and now this story about King Indulf and Anna is my adult version . It does live up to all expectations. King Indulf has had a lot of heartache in his life...losing his mate, his daughter and now his son is turning against him. To add to his worries, a strange woman appears in his kingdom...Anna. Where has she come from and holding the Sword of Legends. Anna is transported through time from her comic bookshop after holding a fake Sword of Legends. Now the fun begins.
A brilliant story of romance, passion, danger, shifting dragons, family betrayal and so much more. A fantastic start to a new series. Loved it

Anna had always been a bit of a nerd and loved Dungeons and Dragons games. She didn't really thing she was ugly but men didn't set her a flutter. Then one day she thrown a loop when she dropped into a world just like her game. Indulf is a Dragon King and does not trust easily so when a woman appears from no where things gat a little worrying and brings a big problem. I loved this story the idea of dropping through time is intriguing to say the least. I also loved the characters, parts made laugh, some made me sad and other a little hot under the collar, all in all a great raed.

The Dragon King's Prisoner by Jasmine Wylder

Anna has been waiting for the legend's sword to come into the store and it is finally here. She can't wait to swing it around before someone comes in and buys it. All of a sudden the floor opens up and she is falling with the sword in hand. She ends up in the King's throne room. Indulf a dragon shifter, orders her to the dungeon, he thinks she an assassin. I loved this story, it a book you won't want to put down. I found the story moves along and is a page-turner. This is one interesting story. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review.

I love time-travel. Anna finds herself in the middle of a battle between father and son in a time period before her time. Indulf is a very patient and loving father. Anna is a magical surprise that he didn't even realize he desired to have. Their attraction is too powerful to be denied but heir real challenge is the reality that time does make a difference. I love that this is short but gets to the point and think that it is a great start to the series.

First of all, this was an awesome read. It must be terrible for a father to decide the fate of a son who won't accept his loss and rebels in a way to topple a Kingdom. However, how can he hold Anna who wants only to go home to her loved ones so they won't worry about her disappearance? Such a conflict carries throughout the story and an adventure that will keep your turning the page to see what happens next with this cast of characters. Well written and heartwarming!

Another enjoyable book by Jasmine Wylder.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Time-travel books are usually not my strongest “field” but because Jasmine Wylder wrote it ( I love her books) I decided to read it and I was pleasantly surprised. It is a great book. The story is about being different, friendship, los and love.
It is a standalone book with no cliffhangers. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I have read many Jasmine Wylder books and I am a huge fan. Having said that unfortunately this book is not one of my favorites. It was very slow to get into and by the time I did, I honestly didn't like the characters. It just isn't a book that I enjoyed. Now just because it's not my favorite, doesn't mean it may not be yours. Please look at all of the reviews and the synopsis to see if this book is something you are interested in.

I really enjoyed reading The Dragon King's Prisoner. It was an entertaining action packed read that was filled with action, suspense, betrayal, magic, dragons and a heartwarming romance.
Anna finds herself transported in another world surrounded by dragons. King Indulf cant believe the cheek of the human woman that showed up out of no where. He agrees to help her get back home even though he wants her to stay with him.

I liked this story. It has serious and funny moments.

Anna is a comic book and fantasy nerd. She finds herself in the past where magic and dragons are real. She meets the dragon king, who believes she is an assassin. There is Romance and danger. Anna shocks the dragons and mages with some of her comments, as she cannot believe dragons and other things cannot possibly exists. This is quick to read.

The characters + storytelling were very captivating
When Anna picks up a sword, she is transported to a magical land where dragons rule.
Indulf is the dragon king, and he does not know what to make of Anna.
Is she for real or playing a part ?
He will soon find out.
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!

Time dimension travel

So Indulf is dragon King in a time dimension that Anna gets sent to when she held a bejeweled sword at work in the comic book shop. The King is still grieving the loss of his wife and daughter centuries ago but is intrigued when he believes she is from the future. Good chemistry despite the age and life experiences. I read the first after the second in the series but would read another

Anna was a great character and a nerd. Falling through a portal and becoming the Dragon's King Indulf's prisoner and then something more. This was a fun read and had some action and some steam with some sexy time. Some great secondary characters and a fun storyline. This was a fast read and enjoyable. And of course we had our HEA. Anna found herself in way over her head when she mysteriously appeared in Indulf's castle holding a sword. I understood Indulf's hesitancy of getting too close to Anna after his guilt involving his children and his previous mate. Warmund was lucky his father loved him so much and didn't punish him more severely for his betrayal.
