Actually it's an orange hardcover by Addison-Wesley from 1968
735 pages

I saw it as one of the most approachable and easiest of the classic textbooks on the subject

as for the author

Eugene Butkov
taught at St. John's University, New York
Catholic University in Brooklyn
Mario Cuomo, New York Governor went there
William Casey, CIA Director went there too

I think he got his doctorate in Physics in 1960 at McGill
