Not everyone gets a chance to see their high school crush after having their album go platinum and selling out fucking stadiums. Doesn’t matter how unattainable she was in high school, the second she sees I'm a rock star, she’s gonna spread her legs just like all the others.
Maybe it’d be a good idea to finally fuck her and get over this crush.
Well, it’s not really a crush. Not anymore. That would be fucking crazy. More like I end up comparing every woman I meet to the girl I was so crazy about all those years ago.
Cora’s something special. And she’s probably married. Or engaged to some handsome billionaire. Or something. Whatever it is, she’ll always to be way- the-hell too good for the likes of me.
But like it or not, Cora Dwyer is about to come back into my life - and I have no idea what the hell to do about it.
Cora
Ian? The only person I know named Ian is someone I haven’t seen since high school. He’s sort-of famous now, the drummer in a band that’s getting pretty big. But I’ll always know him as the sweet, dorky guy who couldn’t say two words to me without tripping over himself.
Ian Brooks, the junior high school marching band nerd that everybody picked on who, sometime between junior and senior year, grew into his body, traded playing drums for the marching band to drumming for the best/only rock band in town, and became Ian Brooks, every girl’s James-Dean-Rebel-Without-A-Cause bad rocker boy fantasy.
He’s taller than I remember. Shoulders broader. A little scruffier. More ink on his arms. But that’s him alright. In the flesh.
God, that smile. That face. That body. That soft white cotton tee shirt covering his hard chest and tattooed arms.
I mean, who would have thought that Ian Brooks from high school would grow up into six feet of pure man?
Amelia Mae hails from Los Angeles, CA and loves hot rock stars and dirty lyrics. She is the author of the Say Yes and My Hero series. Check out ameliamaebooks.com for all the heat, all the edge, and swoon-worthy heroes.
Ian is the drummer for the rock band Say Yes and Cora is a model wanting a career in acting. So much goes in to these two with have known each other as kids, to Cora having a terrible relationship with the guy she knew in high school, to Ian have to go through some tragic events in his life. They are both just floating along until one night at a nightclub Cora is working at they recognize each other and catch up on their past.
Things snow ball from there and this book gave me everything I love in my rock romances from connections, to the struggles with touring (especially if you are being paid to be the lead singer’s girlfriend for show…all a part of acting) to the hot chemistry these two have which burns the pages up. I love how they overcome their struggles and their past all the while supporting each other.
If you are a rock romance fan this is a book you don’t want to miss. I’ve had the pleasure to have read other books in the Say Yes series and have loved each and every one of them.
3.5 STARS COPY RECEIVED FOR HONEST REVIEW What happens when you high school crush comes back into your life? Rock star Ian had a huge crush on Cora all throughout high school. He was the band geek and Cora was Miss Popular. She was the one everyone thought would do great things. Here is is 10 years later and Ian is a rock star and Cora is a struggling actress/waitress. She is hired to do work for the band. things get twisted and Cora and Ian end up in a secret relationship. The story is a quick read and has sexy scenes between Cora and Ian. The characters are likable. Nice quick read.
This was a good read. Ian and Cora knew each other form their younger years. He has liked her but things didn't work out. Now she is an aspiring actress and he is a famous musician. They do begin a relationship but their careers make things difficult. Luckily in the end they have a way to make it work and are happy.
Romance genre: second chance Part of a series: Yes (Say Yes) Length: 174 pages
Plot: Back in high school, Cora was the girl that band geek Ian had a crush on, but she was out of his league. Now she's the one struggling, and he's a rockstar. Cora gets the job to act in Ian's music video, and the manager likes it so much that he hires her to be the fake girlfirend of the lead singer (who IS NOT Ian). That puts a strain on their developing relationship. Are they both all in, or will the world around them tear them apart?
Character development: There was a fair bit of back and forth, which is not necessarily my favorite, but it was sweet to see them reconnect (even though the power structure is still not level, being tipped in Ian's favor now). If all I have to go by are romance novels, it sucks to be a rockstar, but sucks even worse to be a rockstar's girlfriend.
I wish I could give this more stars: I LOVED it! Classic hometown-boy-turned-big but still pining for the girl that got away. They're both older, more mature, with a little baggage, but can they find a way to make it work, all the while navigating the fickle and transient world of stardom?
Ian is the drummer for his band Say Yes. They are searching for a model for a music video to their newest hit song. In the stag of headshots Ian finds a picture of Cora, a woman she has been crushing on since high school. To him she is the perfect woman.
But Cora is not the same person she was back in high school. She's yet to be successful in her chosen profession, she feels like a failure. Cora looks at Ian, and sees a boy who has become a man.
After they've decided to hire her for the music video they run into her at any local club. Ian and Cora reunite, both have feelings of attraction emotionally and physically.
After doing the music video Ian's manager decides he wants to hire Cora to pose as the lead singers girlfriend during their tour. Ian asked her to do it so she can come along on the tour, and she can get more exposure and money. What she doesn't realize is that posing as a rock star's girlfriend will lessen her credibility as an actress. It makes her feel subpar and doubting her value as a partner.
I really appreciate it Coras vulnerability in the story. We have all gone through periods of insecurity and our careers and our lives. It's how we handle it that matters. And instead of clinging to her rock star boyfriend and allowing him to fix everything, even though that is Ian's instinct, Cora steps away and seeks out her personal fulfillment. It's very empowering.
I also find it really endearing how sweet Ian is on Cora. It's pretty adorable to see someone transition from the band geek to a professional musician gaining clout in his field.
I really enjoyed this book. As a person who reads a lot of rock star romances, I recommend it.
I received this book as an advanced reader copy. I am voluntarily providing my review..

That was awesome! Man what a book! This is an extraordinary story. It is so completely well written and thought through. I could not put it down. I found myself reading it straight through in one sitting.
This is Ian and Cora’s story. Ian was the nerdy teenager in school and he had a big crush on Cora. In high school she was the captain of the cheerleading squad, the popular girl. Now it is ten years later. Cora is now 28 years old and a struggling actress and waitress. When she is at wok one night she is waiting on a group she recognizes as her high school mates, but now they are members of the famous rock band Say Yes. Ian is the drummer the one skinny nerd she knew in high school. But he's no longer skinny or nerdy he's tall dark and handsome. Use of mouth watering as far as she's concerned. And he still has a crush on Corra, after a night at dinner and talking he takes her home and they hug good night, but he summons the courage to invite her to his concert the next night. Or his only ever been with one other person Ian finds out he is totally shocked. Even finds it hard to believe it. But they decide to keep their romances secret for a while. But eventually it all comes out in the end. This is a sweet story and I can't wait to read the next book. Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
From high school crush to a second chance romance. A beautifully written nice romantic piece. When it comes to love, not everyone gets a second chance at it. Ian and Cora did and they made a good use of the opportunity. From a nerdy teen to a nice charming muscular man. He was certainly every woman’s kind of man. This story has a way of driving your imagination wild. The simple and interesting language makes it easy to read. I find it a bit hard to imagine that after ten years apart from each other, the fire of love still burns among the two of them. This left me imagining what the scenario will be like. The hot steaming sex scenes are certainly not suitable for teenagers but for adults looking to steam up their sex life. There is something in this book to really turn you on and spice up the romance. The author took his time to give details of the sex scenes in such a way that I was easily carried away. Ian was totally in control and Cora was totally in love with Ian. This is one amazing book where you find a long-term fantasy layout after ten years of separation.
What a quick, exciting read from another new author and the beginning of what I’m sure is going to be an interesting series. Amelia captured my mind from the beginning, not able to put the book down until the end. There was so much excitement packed into an intense second chance romance, though it’s technically not a second chance but more so a chance with a high school crush.
"˜If you're not going to surface from this depression and live for her, you're not going to live ever again.'" -Ian
Ian and Cora connected from their first reencounter, fireworks exploding right from the start. Ian is such a gentle giant, while Cora is such an insecure person when she’s with Ian. But, in all reality, he is a rockstar and has women constantly throwing themselves at him. Ian is still a dork at heart, finally getting his chance with his first love.
The character development was intense, adequately covering all aspects of each character background. And there was so much passion and desire mixed with plenty of steam! Definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, steamy story
I really enjoyed this second chance at love with the girl you fantasized about in high school. Ian was in the school band and an Anime geek but he traded in the marching band and became a drummer for Say Yes, he’s living the dream. Cora was one of the popular girls at school, and the one most likely to succeed, she didn’t. She’s in her late twenties, working as a cocktail waitress and still trying to be an actress. This is the part I didn’t get, she’s a college graduate, she had actually dropped out of dental school and being a waitress was the best she could get? And she’s drop dead gorgeous! Sorry but her reality just made no sense to me at all and that just didn’t seem realistic. Still loved her and Ian together, they were so hot. He’s such a good guy and understands that he needs to give her space to be what she wants to be. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and I recommend this book.
Cora Dwyer is a wannabe actress working as a cocktail waitress. One night she served some men and their lady friends that look very familiar.
Ian Brooks is the Drummer for the rising rock band 'Say Yes'. His band mates are Jack (guaitarist), Shawn (bassist) and Dylan (singer). Ian, Jack and Shawn all went to High School together. Ian was considered a dork in High School and had a major crush on Cora.
Cora is surprised to see Ian again and they get together after work for dinner.
Cora gets a job as the girl in one of the band's videos 'Her Name in Stars.' The band them goes on your and Cora is asked to pretend to be Dylan's fake girlfriend for the publicity. Cora and Ian are forced to reconnect in private.
This is a story about reconnecting with someone from your past; figuring out what you will sacrifice to make someone else happy and what you are willing to do for love.
Say Yes, Ian: Say Yes is exactly what you think you’re going to get from the title, the premise, and the book cover. And there is nothing wrong with that. This is the story of Ian and Cora. They meet again after high school and sparks fly. They were always on each other’s mind all these years and now they have a second chance to rekindle their romance. Be prepared for some very steamy scenes. It’s a light novel, entertaining, with romance and sex but also some misunderstandings and good passages about life in a small town and being in high school and how terrible most boys and girls are exploring and expressing their feelings at that age. Amelia Mae is a talented writer in this genre, creating a nice atmosphere and some very good interactions and character development.
I liked this book very much. Ian was your average nerd band boy gone on to be a star in a Rock band and always remembering the girl he didn't get in high school. Did not stop his bedding anything in sight as all rock stars apparently are supposed to do until a fateful night changed everything. Cora was the girl he almost got together with and always wished he had. Things did not turn out for Cora as she thought they would. The boyfriend from high school is gone and all her dreams seem to be gone too. She is pretty down in life when she runs into Ian again. He knows he would love to have a second chance with her and is willing to do anything to make it work. They get that chance and it is a story worth reading. Ups and downs for sure but not overly filled with angst. Give it a try.
Good romance in the world of a rock band It's a beautiful, tender, but also torrid romance between Ian, who was a "dork" in high school, and who has become a drummer for a famous band, who reunites with Cora, the young woman he secretly loved in high school. Everything seemed to smile on the latter, with a life all mapped out, but Ian finds her where he did not expect her, and can now approach her. I liked the characters in this story, and Cora has an interesting side because of her weaknesses, and where she is in her career. Likewise, the immersion in the world of rock and even more in the management that surrounds the group, are a little shocking, but pigment the romance, and reveal even more Ian and Cora. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This was the first book by this author that I've read. I really enjoyed it. I have put the rest of the books in this series, by this author on my wish list. I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems books and am leaving a voluntary review. Cora was the cheerleader and girl of his dreams back when they were in high school. Ian was the nerdy guy who wasn't really that memorable who played drums in the schools marching band, now he's a big rock star still playing the drums. Cora works as a waitress in a night club and is a struggling actress, not really getting very far. Ian and his band are out celebrating Ian's sister's twenty first birthday, and who should be their waitress for the evening, none other but Cora.
Ian is a rocker who's life changed one night and nothing has felt right since. Now the band has a new video and the model they hired gets a better job last minute. While looking through headshots a couple of them recognize Cora from high school. Cora is just not some girl but the girl Ian crush on and somewhat still does. Thinking Cora has it all because of her popularity back then, Ian is in for a surprise. From the moment these two connect again I couldn't get enough, but not all things go as smoothly. I love this story of memories, spin the bottle, some twists, lots of sexy, steamy times and great friends. Can't wait to read the next!!!
I really enjoyed this first book in the Say Yes series in spite of the numerous grammatical errors. That’s the only reason this only received 3 stars. Reading about Ian and Cora’s journey was very exciting. I was quite taken with the concept of the fake romance with Ian’s bandmate and how that entire situation unfolded. It was a nice twist to the typical rock star romance trope. I was left with a few questions at the end of the book but decided they were inconsequential in lieu of the fact that they got their HEA. Not to worry about the errors though as the author assures me they are being corrected and this series will re-release soon.
It was a good read. I liked the story line with the band nerd growing into a rock star finally getting his high school crush. Ian has gone through a major twist in his life when by chance Cora come back into his life. Their roles have changed, he's the famous drummer, she feels like she's trying to start her life over pursuing an acting career.when the opportunity comes up for her to follow the band and spend time with Ian she agrees but it's not smooth sailing. Good pace, engaging characters, would read next in series.
It is a book about romance and sex. The book is well written, has twists and turns. When it comes to love, not everyone gets a second chance at it. Ian and Cora did and they made good use of the opportunity.
Amelia Mae is a talented writer in this genre, creating an enjoyable atmosphere and impressive interactions and character development. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and I recommend this book.
I enjoyed this story about a high school crush turned second chance. The rock star enivornment is nice, but Ian and Cora really shine in their attraction and love for each other. She struggles with self worth issues, but Ian is strong and holds her up until she can do it on her own. I enjoyed the drama, the uniqueness of the storyline and the overall flow of the story. I was sent a complimentary copy and I am choosing to leave my honest review.
I really really really like this book, I love Rockstar books, and this one was worth the read. In high school Cora was the popular girl and Ian watched her and like her from afar; years later Ian is in a successful band "Say Yes" and he comes back to his hometown and runs into Cora. Of course they fall in love, but must deal with a tour and Cora's dreams.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Me encanto, la historia de los personajes está muy bien escrita , me agrado que los problemas que tuvieron no fueron súper cliché , es un romance muy bueno no dan ganas de que termine porque te encariñas con los personajes
I really enjoyed this one! Ian and Cora don’t have it easy but their fight to be together was exactly as I was hoping. Huge fan of Ian and the rest of the guys in the band!
This is my first Amelia Mae novel but not my last! I really enjoyed the story. Lived he characters. Ian was a different person than most "Rockstar" book characters.
Ian and Cora are a slow burning romance. Ian had a crush on Cora in High school. Cora the only girl that spoke the to the awkward Nerd at a party. Ian always wanted that 1st kiss when the beautiful Cora. Ian really wanted the bottle to land on his name when they played the "Spin the Bottle" at that famous high school party. He wanted to be Cora 1st kiss. Instead it went to the popular, spoiled, selfish Evan. Who ends up being Cora's boyfriend all thru high school & they went to college together. The person she thought loved her was nothing but degrading, not supportive on her dreams. Only cared about his own success & how to be rich. Cora decided to leave her pharmacy program. & go into acting that she enjoyed in High school & was pretty good at it. Evan told her she was absolutely ridiculous. She moved out & took a job as a waitress at a known club, where famous bands come for their after parties.
Ian's sister over hears the name of one of the replacement head shots that the band is looking into for the "YES" bands upcoming new single's video. The previous model got a better gig & walked out. She knows Ian has been in love with Cora since forever. She is totally surprised that the after party club the band is to be going to has as their waitress as NONE other than CORA. Ian you need to get to the club ASAP. You will never guess who is here. CORA. Can Ian get a chance now that he is in a rock band to win Cora heart! Can Cora prove that she is a good actress. Cora just wants one night with IAN. Can Ian prove to Cora that he can love her for who she is. Cora is beautiful, smart, talented & damn sexy. Now how can we convivence Cora that she is all those things. Cora feels she has failed since her high school goals of being most likely to succeed. She is a waitress & unemployed actress. She wants to go to acting school to build her craft. Cannot do that on a waitress salary. The band agrees to use Cora as the video model. Great money, not the type of acting gig Cora wants on her resume. Since its so superficial. Though she can spend a little time with Ian & make some good money. The video makes the single a hit. which brings sales increase on the upcoming concert of the YES band. Now the greedy manager has a brilliant idea.... They need to have the model from the video play the girlfriend of a band member. Well Ian cannot believe they are talking about the lead, playboy of the group. Not him. No one pays attention to the drummer. We need the lead singer play Cora's boyfriend. Ian couldn't deal with the love scenes for the video shoot with the lead vocal. Now Cora's is to play Dylan's girlfriend for 5 weeks. Ian can do this for the band, for Cora to earn money for the acting program. This will give him time with CORA, to prove to her that he loves her.
Read the book on their relationship. I was surprised that I enjoyed this story theme! It's hot, passionate with sacrifice. Many twists & turns in the relationship! Ian and Cora's relationship has a lot of roller coaster issues. I did enjoy the friendship of the band members. I loved the close relationship that Ian & his sister had together. Just note they're several typo in the book.
I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.
It was okay. Ian has a chance to reconnect with his high school crush, Cora. Ian was marching band nerd in high school and got tongue tied when he tried to talk to Cora. Cora was popular and a cheerleader in high school. Now the tables have turned. Ian is a drummer in a successful rock band and Cora is a struggling actress that works as a cocktail waitress while waiting on her big break. Ian's band hires Cora for a music video. There is s mutual attraction.
The story is written well. Not a lot of drama. It is a fast easy read.
