What do you do when your talking cat accepts a crazy quest?

If you're Omen, you jump right in.

And before Omen knows it, he's crossing the Luminal Sea on a miraculous ship called the Golden Voyage.

But the voyage is anything but golden.

In the shadow of a devastating hex, pursued by a stealer of souls, with both interference and help from Tormy and the potty-mouthed kitten Tyrin, Omen faces monsters, ghosts, and grave troubles unshackled by the volatile seasons themselves.

Accompanied by the prince of Terizkand, a Sundragon scholar, a cynical spy, and a reckless Corsair, our young firebrand has to employ all of his strengths as the autumn winds carry them into the center of a cataclysm that threatens to swallow the world.

You're right in time for SUMMER'S FALL.

Fantastic fun read!

This whole series are the most fun reads I've had for a long time. Wonderful, imaginative world, interesting, developed characters, great plot. What more can you ask for?

Omen's penchant for adventure has been tempered by Kyr. Taking care of his older-little brother is enough of a handful, even without two talking cats that cheerfully complicate life even more. But when Tormy is recruited to help solve a kidnapping, Omen ends up on another adventure, like it or not . . .

I received an advance copy and was asked to give an honest review. I bought the book anyway because I loved it.

These books just keep getting funnier. It's hard to tell how much of the cats' innocence is real and how much is an act. They certainly know how to cause trouble (as Dev notes, anyone with less connections and wealth than Omen's family would probably go bankrupt trying to care for Tormy). The scene where Fog, another talking cat, comes to recruit Tormy for a "secret mission" was my favorite part, but pretty much everything they do is great fun.

I love Omen's new awkwardness in trying to take care of Kyr. He wants so badly to give Kyr everything Kyr was missing, and has no idea how to deal with Kyr's ramblings. As a reader, it's fairly obvious that Kyr is seeing things on multiple levels at once, but Kyr can't distinguish between what only he can see and what everyone can see.

Templar returns! I love how he and Omen play off each other. The new additions to the adventure are equally intriguing. Devastation Machelli looks to have a backstory just as interesting as Omen and Templar, for all that he's not sharing much of it yet. Dev's lackadaisical attitude and finely-tuned ability to annoy people made me laugh, especially because his target of choice is Avarice. I love the names in this family. Shalonie provides some much-needed level-headedness and the general smarts to balance out the boys.

And Devastation is just the best. He's turned trolling into an art form.

"Surely you've already told my mother everything there is to say," he groused. "You can't possibly have anything more to tell her."
Dev's lips twitched upward as he continued to write. "You are correct," he agreed mildly. "I don't think she'll ever use the term 'excruciating detail' around me again."
Omen blinked at him in shock. "You're purposely annoying my mother by writing nonsense to her?"
"Oh, we passed annoying days ago," Dev replied.

The action scenes remain strong, too. A gigantic sea monster nicknamed the Widow Maker has shown up off the coast of Melia, and it has a particular interest in Kyr. But Omen and Kyr need to get past it somehow to complete their quest. This is a difficult fight since their opponent is monstrously big, out in the ocean, and attacks mentally as well as physically.

Overall, this is just the first part of the quest line, but it introduces several engaging new characters and sets up an epic adventure. You could technically start with this book but I would encourage you to read the first two books because they're amazing and will help set the stage. I rate this book Highly Recommended.

How can one near adult find quite so much trouble? It might be in his blood. He does after all have five parents! Or it could be his six foot tall talking orange tabby. But no matter how trouble finds Omen, it will be some of the most fun you can have with a book. Beautifully written prose, magic, cats and a well-defined world make this series more than memorable.

Omen is beginning to fear that his younger brother is a mystic. Of course he has always talked to the dead, but now he is seeing eyes in the ocean and hearing songs on the waves. Life isn’t easy for a mystic, and protecting his fragile seeming brother is hard enough now.

To make life harder, things just aren’t right in the city. Creatures that have never before been seen in the area are causing problems. Then of course there is Tormy. Just feeding a giant cat can be a chore. Now Tormy has taken on a quest of his own, to find a missing king. To cement the deal, Omen’s brother is hexed and it can’t be removed until the quest is completed.

So Omen gathers his companions, his brother of course, with his own miniature cat, Tyrin, his best friend and a scholar. Together they set out to find the Door to Autumn and search out a missing king. Join the adventure!

Summer's Fall is the third book in the Of Cats And Dragons series, and is part 1 in The Quest For The Autumn King. It is a story with amazing, dynamic heroes and terrifyingly malevolent monsters. The wonderful imagery of these two authors immerses you deeply into the story and keeps you captivated from start to finish. The characters are well-developed and interesting. They are fun, exciting, and refreshingly different. After all, how many books have talking cats? As the series moves along, in every book we get to know the main characters better and better. We learn more of their background, and how that has influenced them. They each have a personality that makes them very real and likeable. This is storytelling at it's best. This book is filled with excitement, spine tingling action, and breathtaking magical battles. Summer's Fall is a great addition to the Of Cats And Dragons series. If you are looking for a book that is fun and filled with adventure and excitement, that has great heroes and evil monsters, magical battles, talking cats and dragons, this book is for you. I highly recommend it.

3.5 stars, rounded up because Tormy and Tyrin are the best fictional cats ever. Still loving this series. This one was rather slow compared to the last two, but still quite enjoyable with a terrifying monster, fantasy goodness, and lots of cat antics.

Gotta say, though, it's driving me crazy how little Omen listens to Kyr. Dude, I know you don't /want/ your little brother to be a mystic, but he obviously is. So when the boy goes off on his "crazy" diatribes, you really should PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE KID IS SAYING! Also Kyr is such a sweet kid and must be protected at all costs, but at least Omen already understands that much. 😉

Fantastic!

This is an amazing series!

One of the secrets to the attraction I have for these books is the depth of the story matrix. There are secrets within secrets and we get an occasional glimpse of them through Kyr's oracular pronouncements and from what the cats let slip.

I get the feeling that the cats will play an even bigger role as these stories unfold and we will learn more about what our heroes can do.

Reading g this series has been a marvelous and uplifting experience.

Summer's Fall

This is the continuing story of Omen, his talking cat and the dragons. You don't need to have read the previous books in the series but doing so will give you a better understanding of this fantastic world. As Omen undertakes a quest that he was tricked into, he's learning more about his brother Kyr and his cat, Tommy's abilities. With the help of friends, he fights off the deep sea monster dubbed the Widow Maker. The adventure to complete the quest continues in the next book. Can't wait!

Uh-oh

An adventure like no other featuring ghostly terrors manipulated by a squid like monster at the darkest depths of the ocean. A hex pushing Omen, his little brother, the cats and foolish friends along ha me at the edge of my seat while the continuation of this story beckons me from book 4.

Grab your cider and cozy up in your favorite blanket and get ready to take on Omen and Tormy’s biggest quest you have yet to read so far. You’ll enjoy this yarn of a tale for I found it intriguing and full of mystery.

In awe!

With every succeeding book, I am totally immersed in the adventures of Omar, Templar, and those wonderful, lovable crazy cats! Such fun being caught up in their amazing adventures, with out of this world baddies, and throughout great humor as well. I would give this series ten ⭐️ if I could. Oh, and great word building as well.

I’m still in love with this series. The world building has enveloped another region with enhanced and elevated world building. The characters are still lively, witty, fun, and - oh, I like them soo much!
We have our central crew from the first two books, and about a half dozen or so new characters join us. They are all unique. More mystical and mythical creatures and a new spin of hypnotic magic were introduced.

Apparently, this ‘quest’ is more like a trilogy, which really truly sucks. Or like the new kitten would say €%@*¥#+@$&
The first two books are stand alone adventures, which catapulted this series to the top of my Listening Now list. Knowing that it will take TWO MORE books to complete this quest is quite disheartening.
I will continue the series. I’m half tempted to quickly download the next two ... but I can’t. I despise trilogies. As much as I want to find out what happens next - well, they’re on my wish list. If within the next few months, I’m still intrigued, then I’ll download the next.
Knocking off a star because of the trickery.

Narrator continues to provide an amazing performance.

I enjoyed this as much as the first two in the series but was disappointed when it turned out to be only the first part ( to be continued ). I personally would have preferred to read the whole story even it would be a much longer book.

Another amazing book about Omen and Tormy

In Omen's world he lives in the land where the land is protected by Sundragons and can only be accessed by the sea end portals. There is trouble with some creatures that normally comes in cooler weather. Oman's family is assisting the Sundragons to protect the land, but Omen with some of his friends are traveling by ship to the Autumnland because they have no portal to travel there.

The quest is somewhat dangerous because there is a sea creature following them. They use all their powers and the talking cats to protect Kyr from the sea creature.

The characters, their personalities, and their powers are become more developed as they encounter adversity. The plot has many twists and turns that keeps the reader involved in the story. There is a cliffhanger so the next book is the must.

I highly recommended thid series for an intriguing fantasy created by the authors' imaginations. I couldn't wait to buy the next book.
