A New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Penelope Sky is known for her dark romance that makes you fall for her characters….no matter how dark they seem. Her books are being translated into several languages around the world, and she’s sold more than a million books worldwide. She lives in a small town in California with her husband, where she spends most of her time writing on the back porch.
I know that this segment focuses on Carter and Mia but Griffin steals every bit of thunder from that couple. Ever since Griffin's first appearance in the series, he has overwhelmed/overshadowed EVERY other character, no matter how much page time he gets. He has the body of a killer and the soul of a poet and this segment shows both off to perfection (I dare you not to cry during the last chapter). Carter and Mia get more page time than in previous books but compared to the drama/action/intrigue of the other characters' stories, they are tame and I did have a little struggle getting through their chapters (but it could be because Griffin is SO amazing). As this was supposed to be the last chapter in the series, the author tied up just about every character's story, but many of us begged for Carmen's story and the author is giving it to us!
I want to thank the author for allowing me to review this series. Even though I know there are multiple couples' stories in this series, Griffin has has become my favorite anti-hero? of all time. Crow, Cane, and Conway have all been great but Griffin surpasses everyone and everything and I will be re-reading his story time and again.
SOOOOO much is happening in this installment. And i mean a LOT. i think just about everyone in the 2nd generation has had some type of large resolution to their story and that’s something that’s an amazing feat.
Let’s see, where to start.
Conway/Sapphire – we have been awaiting the birth of their child for such a long time and now it’s that time. It’s really amazing to see how that changes the dynamic of the family, how it makes people who were confident turn into mush, and brings people together when it was completely not the chosen path.
Vanessa / Griffin – i think that it’s safe to say that this is one of the biggest more complicated story lines that we have had the pleasure of reading. We know that they are together for the long haul, that their feelings for each other will overcome anything, but it’s not an easy road. We see Crow try with Griffin. We see Griffin try with Crow. We see each give up and resign themselves to things never working, but what we know is that this is a family that never takes the easy out and well, that’s what happens here.
And just when we think that things are settling, the family of one of Griffin’s targets comes after him, but goes for Vanessa instead, and well, you can only imagine what happens from that point on. This is the moment of the story that defines the man that Griffin thought he was moving away from to become, and we instead see a darker more horrid and tormented side that really breaks everything good that we wanted.
Where Vanessa unconditionally loved him before, she sees that he’s capable of going past the point of no return in a fit of rage and that means that their dynamic is shuffled and changed forever.
Carter / Mia – this is the story that everyone wanted to see how it would play out. She’s gone from purchased slave to the woman in his bed, to the woman that he had to return, now to the woman that he helped fake her death to live in freedom. all because she said she has a son, and that’s something that really pulled at Carter’s heart. Their story, their path now veers off course because Carter now has to make the decision to cross a very powerful man, a man who doesn’t trust what he sees and a man who will have a vendetta for the rest of his life if he’s wronged. Carter steps into that box, gets Griffin’s help (isn’t he such a nice addition to the family?) and tries to get away with murder. We don’t yet get to see the outcome of this, but honestly, we all know that it cannot end well.
So you can see how three stories converge here in this one installment and it’s intense. Emotions come to the top, lives are joined, created, and pulled apart, all with the same level of angst, anxiety and fear that we get in every story. The one constant is that we see that the Barsettis stand beside each other during EVERY moment of need and there’s no end to the amount of need that this family faces. The only person that we have yet to get to the crux of here is Carmen, and we all know her story is up next. I can’t wait to see how that one plays out and what stud of a man comes her way
Carter y mia: 2🌟 Conway y sapphire: 3🌟 Bones y Vanessa: 3.75🌟
Lo amé. La historia de Carter, Mia y Luca me ha dejado un buen sabor de boca. Vannesa y Bones, siguen siendo mi pareja favorita 😍🥰 Y no puedo esperar por conocer la historia de Bosco y Carmen.
It took only Buttons and Lace to start an exceptional saga. It took Crow and Pearl to create such a strong empire of strong and beautiful family.
I can't believe Sky can create 12 books from such 6 books that started it all. When everything was really, really dark from the past; I just can't believe am already here reading when everyone is in a dining room having a feast together. Love is still the answer. Truly Pearl and Crow's love story becomes base of light after all, whatever happens in their children and into their world.
I know it's gonna be bitter sweet when we'll reach the (possible) last three books... Congratulations Penelope! I can't wait Netflix will be inspired in your story and create a divine episode series to watch.
A longer book means more to love. Penelope Sky has managed to make her characters part of the family. No matter who you are, you root for these couples just like they are your blood. Cane and Mia, a new family meant to be together. Griffin and Vanessa, a family no longer divided. More emotion, more insight, more Love! Another 5 star for Penelope Sky!
Overall, I did enjoy the Lingerie series, probably because I'm a sucker for alpha males (in books, let's be clear :p). However, these books had too many mistakes, too many repetitions, sometimes a paragraph was placed twice in the same book, a whole paragraph! How does that even happen??? I felt like the author thought I was stupid or had a very bad memory because she kept repeading why the characters were attracted to each other, why they couldn't be together, why it was wrong to love each other, etc. Writing four books for the same couple is just absurd and unncessary here, one book for one story would have been enough! Also the characters had the same way of talking, the same personnalities, the author literally toke the same characters but changed their physics and their background story a little bit and bam she had a new book.
However, I feel like this series could have some potential if she made it shorter, worked on her characters and had an editor (because I guess she doesn't have one?).
I have enjoyed this series much more than I had expected but this book has so many editing errors ,it is distracting. In one scene Mia is wearing a red sundress , yet Carter removes from her jeans and a T-shirt . I have noticed several of these instances . I was looking forward to the Vanessa Bones completion but so far not impressed. Bones goes on his last mission and it becomes dangerous and he must stay one extra night but guilt about not revealing this is Vanessa consumes him so much he confesses to Vanessa , really ? That needed such a huge reveal ? Carter decides to keep Mia, he says mostly because she has an 8 year old son . He calls Griffin and he finds him a body that looks like Mia , she put on her scars on the body to match her whippings and burn the bedroom , Egor is understandably suspicious , he comes and removes the body , it appears he fell for it . carter returns the 100 million . Vanessa is kidnapped again by the son of the last man Bones killed, Bones assembles a team And rescues her ...was there any doubt ? Carter and Mia’s relationship deepens , her son Luca arrives and she asks Carter to marry her , he says yes , was there any doubt ? The storylines merging together and everything is wrapping up very nicely . I am to be reaching the end because things are becoming more expected , at a family dinner party another huge editing error, it is stated Conway knew about Mia but had never met her ...so wrong , he made a trip to Carters new house , before Sapphire had their baby , specifically to meet Mia . Penelope sky , do you really think your readers are not paying attention .this book looks like it was rushed to the printers before any editing took place at all. One star off for the Deplorable editing job and also for the much too caustic Bones ending , Bones you could have done better....it was a wedding , soften the tone

I honestly have no idea where to begin with Bones and Vanessa (5-12). There’s so much I can say 😭. Throughout all their books, I have grown to love their characters both separately and together.
The way Penelope Sky writes enemies to lovers is absolutely amazing. There’s so much tension and emotions, it’s crazy. I say this a lot but, this was definitely a roller coaster of emotions..and this one tops all of them.
It was the classic ‘falling in love with the enemy’ trope. Vanessa never expected to fall in love with a man like Bones, despite their generational blood war. She wanted a man who was strong, that can handle her and her personality, fearless, etc. She didn’t realize that when she witnessed a murder by accident, she met her soulmate.
As soon as they kissed, they knew their relationship had started.
Bones didn’t want to fall in love, he didn’t believe in it. He was a playboy, living his life..until he met Vanessa. He was addicted to her and her feisty, sassy personality. He couldn’t get enough of her.
Obviously, they both caught feelings for each other..and fast. And the way they knew was absolutely heart warming, it brought tears to my eyes.
Throughout the rest of their story, it was a constant battle of acceptance. Some parts genuinely made me want to cry and im still heartbroken from what Vanessa’s father said to Bones. It was out of pocket and disgusting. All that Bones has dreamed of was having a family because Vanessa’s father took that away from him. It wasn’t until finally, he was accepted into the family. Bones didn’t understand what it meant to have a family. But, he got used to it..and suddenly his world changed. He went from being always hateful..to loving his family with a soft heart.
Overall, I absolutely love love love their story. I didn’t want to say goodbye, honestly. I highly recommend this series, it’s so good😭😭
I can’t get enough of these Barsetti’s! This is book 12 in the next generation and this book continues the story of Vanessa and also Carter’s story. I have to again it’s hard to review it without spoiling it. It was a bit more emotional and not quite as intense as the prior books. We are still switching between the three major story lines of Vanessa & Bones, Carter & Mia and just a bit of Conway and Muse. Each of their stories is complex in their own way and this was such a great part of the series. Although, again the I didn’t enjoy the hopping between the Vanessa and Carter story lines as each time it jerks me out of the flow of their individual stories, but overall I am enjoying each of them.
Bones is fully accepted as a Barsetti and he has vowed to always protect Vanessa. Crow is actually treating him like his son and makes a major gesture to show just how much he accepts him. Just when you think they are heading to their HEA a threat is made that again Bones has to save the day. Bones helps Carter save Mia and his plan is to help her hide out for a couple of years. He thinks that he can just pass her off as his maid, but his family sees through that story pretty quickly.
I am on the edge of my seat to see what happens next in Dancer, Fighter and Lover….
This is my first Penelope sky book since Buttons. I read the Buttons series when they came out and although I semi enjoyed Crow and Pearl, I positively loathed Cane. Probably because he admitted to raping other "slaves" before meeting Adelina. Personally, I find it hard for someone like that to get a happily ever after.
The vibe I keep getting from this author is that all men (regardless of how they were raised) are sadistic, abusive, and evil until they fall in love.
Obviously the character-changes made to the Barsettis through the experiences in the Buttons series were worthless. The current generation is clearly more depraved (the males) then the previous generation and the women, who suffered to horrendously, apparently didn't even teach their sons that it is wrong to buy people or to be involved in illegal activity. Never mind basic respect for women.
The reason this book is even getting one star is because I thought that the current relationship between Vanessa and Griffin was a refreshing change. And I did enjoy seeing a healthy father-in-law and son-in-law relationship develop between Crow and Griffin.
I probably won't be back for more. Which is a shame, because this author has the rare talent of successful story-weaving. It's her depicted worldview that throws me.
Yayyyyy… we finally get the ending we waited 8 books for!
There’s not much more I can say except for… at last!!
I feel like I have been on the longest, most twisted and white knuckle style emotional rollercoaster with this series. And I have thoroughly loved it.
There was no way this was going to have a different ending. From the moment Bones and Vanessa came together, their destiny was set. Even when it felt like it was an impossible dream we were all living, these two souls were so beautifully intertwined that nothing - not even a possessive and powerful father and a bitter family feud - could keep these two gorgeous love birds apart.
I’m also loving Carter and Mia’s story. Isn’t it funny how the past seems to repeat itself with this family. It’s like there is something intrinsically interwoven into their genes that makes these Barsetti kids drawn to those that have suffered intolerable cruelty or had difficult lives. They love the inner strength that comes from the battles these people have faced and they find a stronger and deeper connection because of it.
Love this series. And it’s not over yet! Something tells me that Carter and Mia might not be as safe as they’d hoped… and who is going to capture the awesome Carmen’s heart? And will he be good enough for her fathers approval?
Jumping up and down!! Spinning all around because of you Penelope!!!
Omg!! Omg!! Omg!!! I thought this was the end of the series, that we wouldn’t get to know Griffin and Vanessa’s future or how Carter and Mia worked out!!!
This book had everything, and so much more, I was super excited that it was longer but I still didn’t want it to end!! And it’s not well the series continues
Can we not love Griffin anymore, just when you think he cant do anything else to surprise us he goes and surprises us!! Love him!!!
Carter turned about to be a sweetie as well despite his so called hard persona that make him look like a dickhead At times. But he puts it all on the line for Mia.
I just like that we still get a glimpse of the whole Barsetti family and each installment we like them even more than we did in the first book.
There’s so much going on in this book and it’s hard to not have spoilers so,,, just read the series, I highly recommend this
A side note to the author: Your amazing To be able to tell stories book after book!! Keep up the great work!!!
Gah! This series. So good. Even though you think you have read enough about Bones and Vanessa. You haven’t and you can’t wait to see what happens next for them. Bones is the man everyone seems to lean on for strength and help now in the Barsetti family. Carter now needs his help with Mia. He has decided to. It let her go so he has to stage a coup for Egor. And Bones comes to the aid for him. Carter and Mia realize they are more than bedmates, and when Carter brings her son, Luca, home? Mia falls so deeply for him she doesn’t know how she will day goodbye to Carter. She only feels safe around him. Meanwhile Carter can’t imagine not ever having Mia in his life now.
Bones and Vanessa are figuring out their life now together. Bones has decided to stop being an assassin but when his last mission goes wrong it comes back to bite him in the ass.
A book full of brooding men with guns and muscles. So much passion in every page. Penelope does a great job bringing you in to hang on every word.
Princess in Lingerie is the twelfth book in the Lingerie Series written by Penelope Sky. This book continues the story of Mia & Carter and includes extra chapters throughout following the rest of the Barsetti family.
Wow! This books really gave me all the feels! One moment I was near crying, the other I was laughing and the next smiling. This book follows from the ending of ‘Fine in Lingerie’, where Mia finds out the deal between Carter and Egor, Bones has finally settled into the role as part of the Barsetti family and the first birth of the next generation of Barsetti’s is on it’s way!!
I don’t want to spoil anything about Princess in Lingerie as there is also a lot to cover but I will say to expect a LOT of romance and sweet moments! Really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read ‘Dancer in Lingerie’.
I have cried, laugh, and felt every emotion imaginable from reading this series. Super excited that this book was twice as long also I'm still loving everything about Bone & Vanessa so glad they finally got the HEA they deserve. I know that I have said this before but I still don't really care about Mia and Carter story. I mean I adored the interaction between Carter and his mom it was very sweet. I even like the fact that he was able to bond with Mia son. I just couldn't connect with them like I did with Bone and Vanessa. Overall a fantastic series looking forward to seeing what in store for Carmen since everyone already settling down. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Wow so much in one book i’m not sure where to start.
As with the last book every Barsetti’s voice is heard. Carter has a very sweet moment with his mother, Adelina, and Carter and Mias relationship takes a drastic turn. Just how far will Carter go to secure Mia’s safety? Bone’s last mission doesn’t go according to plan and has some serious repercussions. Conway and Sapphire are still waiting for the birth of their first child and looking for the perfect home. I can’t believe how much the Barsetti’s have been through we’ve seen Crow fight his feelings and fall for Button as a young man and now he’s waiting for his first grandchild and starting to plan for his retirement.
Cant wait for the final Barsetti ,Carmen, to fall in love as i’m sure it will be just as epic as all the others.
Well that was the longest novel I think I’ve seen Penelope write and every word is worth the read. We were treated to three love stories in one with lots of action, suspense reuniting and most of all love.
We have Carter and Mia, Vanessa and Bone and Conway and Sapphire. We have a kidnapping, a birth and staged event. We also have one more unexpected addition to the family that is one of the sweetest surprises of them all.
It’s hard to write this review without giving you spoilers. I will tell you that no way with you be disappointed. Penelope Sky has written the souls of these couples in depth which makes us love the Barsetti’s even more.
I love is book. Thank you, Penelope Sky. It is an honor to be a member of this ARC team.
Carter's time with Mia is coming to an end. Will he give her back or has Mia's news changed his mind?
Conway and Sapphire are blissfully happy, awaiting the arrival of their little one and looking for their family home.
Griffin is preparing for his last mission with Max and the boys, before he steps back and makes a life with Vanessa.
A new Barsetti, engagements and a wedding. Love, loyalty, romance, action - Princess in Lingerie has it all.
After reading from the very start, I am so invested in the Barsetti's and this series. My emotions were all over the place just from this one part. I know there is more to come but I don't think I ever want this series to end.
Princess in Lingerie was amazing! Penelope Sky continues to amaze me with each new book that comes out! This book had everything I needed! It had action, suspense, love and romance! It is definitely one of my favorites! Bones and Vanessa are amazing together and I am grateful to have gotten more of Bones and Vanessa’s story!! I have grown to love Bones more and more with each book in the series. I am enjoying the evolving relationship between Carter and Mia, as well as finding out more about her past and how she ended up in the predicament she was in. I cannot wait until the next book to see what happens next! I know Penelope is bound to have some creative drama waiting for us, and will as always keep us glued to the pages of the book!!
This was a beautiful installment in the Buttons world. We got to see more of Vanessa & Griffin. They've gone through so much it's nice to see them healing and moving forward in this book. We also get more of Crow & Button, as well as Cane & Adelina anytime they appear on the pages I am happy to see them. Griffin and Crow have reached a completely bew level in their relationship and that is an amazing journey to have read and seen come full circle. And then Carter and Mia develop something quite unique of their own, with Luca in the picture they seem to paint such the happy family. I really enjoyed all this book had to offer. I love this world Penelope has created and I am so excited for the next book! I never want these stories to end!
Once again Penelope Sky has given us a masterpiece. The tale of the Barsetti Family continues with beautiful characters and a storyline that you cannot get enough of. In this installment the reader is given a chance to see Carter and Mia explore possibilities, Conway and Sapphire welcome in the next line into the legacy and my ultimate favorite once again is Vanessa and Griffin who outshine them all. Without a doubt Griffin is given the best monologues proving that you must listen to the quiet ones because when they talk, they speak from the heart. Cannot wait to see what is in store for the family in the following books!!
I cried, laughed and upset this one was an emotional rollercoaster..and suspense was.so intense..but love every minute of it..omg...still on pins and needles ...
Finally bones and vanessa...I'm curious where the Mia and carter story is going..its a little different from the other barsettis..there is a child already in the picture and not barsetti blood..interesting..
So far not disappointed..let's face it this series is fantastic...now let's work on carmen..she needs a man...I can't Express enough...I think max can handle it...
I think it will be funny that max doesn't gets Griffin approval to date carmen. After all she is his favorite barsetti...😁
Best book of the entire series. If you have read all of Penelope’s books from the beginning starting with the Buttons collection, then you know the passion and romance of the Barsetti men. But Griffin “Bones” surpasses all these characters. He has been my favorite character since his cameo in this story. I can’t wait until Carmen’s story. In all honesty though, I wish Penelope would get more creative with the story lines instead of repeating them. Maybe this is why I love Vanessa and Bones’ story so much, since theirs was different from the others. Nevertheless, I love the books and Penelope’s writing. She has become one of my fave writers.
Penelope you've done it again, this book was amazing. Thank you so much, I'm so in love with this series. I wish it would never end I'm going to be so sad when this is over. I love reading your books because I feel so connected to your characters and feel like the life's of your characters are playing out in front of me instead of reading what happens. This book was an emotional roller coaster there was excitement, danger, happiness all at the same time. I get so happy when the next book in your series comes out. I could read you books a million times and they could never be boring. Each book get better then the last one. Thank you Penelope can't wait for the next book to come out.
