Shannon O’Connor is a twenty something, bisexual, self published poet of several books and counting. O’Connor enjoys life’s simple pleasures: coffee, reading, traveling, and spending time with her new baby. O’Connor is continuously working on new poetry projects, book reviews, and more, while also diving into motherhood. She loves supporting local indie authors & shops as much as possible.
This took me longer than I was expecting, and longer than most poetry collection is due. O’Connor writes with such raw emotion, and really dives deep into what each poem is about, and each feeling. There were moments where I genuinely had to stop reading because my heart hurt at reading the words, and I felt the pain that she did. That’s a very powerful thing to be able to do with poetry, and with words and stories in general, and I haven’t read too many collections that are able to genuinely make my heart pound the way this one did. and it’s very easy for the “healing” aspect of it to be about someone else fixing you, and although it did get a little bit cheesy towards the end, I think it ended on a very high note. It really exceeded my expectations for this collection.
Shannon is vivacious, and ridiculously talented. I felt like I was living her poems as I was reading them. For Always will always have a place on my shelf. It’s a must read!!
For Always by Shannon O'Connor is another evocative collection of prose in which the author ruminates and reflects upon the diverse forms of love, and the heartache that is almost inevitable as a consequence of our vulnerabilities. What Shannon is so generously offering to readers is a deep dive into the recesses of her soul, and her willingness to share her thoughts in such a raw and unfiltered way is simply stunning.
Many thanks to Shannon O'Connor for providing me with a copy of this title to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This poetry collection was written extremely well and it's clear lots of emotion was poured into it. I was really connected with it and found it easy to emotionally attach myself with it. 4/5 Stars - Loved it, emotionally crafted in an amazing way.
'For Always' is a perfect companion to Shannon O'Connor's novel, 'Electric Love'. Poems about alcoholism and suicide always hit hard but are so necessary to read. Another great compilation of poems.
A collection so raw and honest, I felt as if I was reading the author’s diary. A tang of nostalgia, and bittersweet with heartbreak, this book was such a treat to read! I particularly enjoyed the piece ‘Storms’ and ‘All of Me’
