There was a funny smell in the room. Strange. Musty, but damp at the same time. Bitter but sweet. It was dark. Or nearly dark. I realized my eyes were closed and slowly coming into focus. Somewhere in the room, someone was crying quietly. “Hello?” My voice sounded strangely disconnected. The crying stopped. “Is someone else there?” I continued, feeling around my body. The ground was cold and covered in small stones. Where the fuck was I? “Hello?” A timid female voice called back. “Is someone else in here too?” She sounded as far away as a voice could feel while being in the same proximity. “My name is Cammie,” I told the voice in the darkness. “Cammie Saint. I’m from Kansas City, Missouri. Do you know where we are?” The girl began to cry harder than she had before. Inconsolable tears that echoed off the walls and daggered into my psyche. I never heard anyone cry like that before. As if they witnessed the end of the world. “You are in a very bad place.” The voice told me. “And you’re never getting out of here.” “cierra la boca, tu puta.” Something blunt banged against the wall—or a door. There was a door! Someone stood on the other side of that door. I didn’t have to hear the Spanish being spoken to know what had happened. He’d found me.
Most of these are always written in third person, as if the author isn't the one actually writing them. So, I'm going to be a rule-breaker and write it in first person instead. I'm a native Chicagoan, vegetarian, and lover of big words. I randomly burst out into song, and have been known to carry on entire conversations (with those worthy of the challenge) in song lyrics. The same can also be said for movie quotes. I'm quirky, sarcastic, I've been told at times I can be a bit esoteric, but overall I'd rather be dancing in the rain than waiting for the storm to pass.
And I LOVE connecting with people- so go on, hit the "friend" button. :)
The saga continues from book 1, After a second abduction attempt Cammie finds herself being whisked away into hiding with Agent Hotness Vaughn. Strong suspicions lead Vaughn to believe Cammie’s case relates to his. He puts his career on the line by taking her to his home to keep her safe and hopefully get answers. Their relationship continues to build with lots of fun bed time in between. “God Cammie, my fantasies don’t even come close to this.” He growled in my ear his hands cemented on my shoulders, holding me against him.” “Without permission, my traitorous body melted against his. It begged to drown in the sensation his hushed voice promised.” Vaughn is continually fighting between his role as boyfriend with a job to keep Cammie safe and DEA agent trying to put the largest cartel leader behind bars. Conflicted with wanting to soothe her fears and interrogate her to get answers. Cammie is equally conflicted questioning whether Vaughn’s feelings are true or an act to get answers for his case? Through trials and tribulations Cammie discovers an underlying strength she didn’t know she had. But we all could see was there. It gets dusted off and blooms as her confidence and place in the world develops. Towards the end of the story Cammie meets the man from her reoccurring dream. She calls upon her new found strength to survive. One of my favorite things about this author was the fresh and unique way of saying things! “I wanted to Incredible Hulk my situation until the storm clouds inside of me disappeared.” “Whenever his body came near mine, the fight drained from it anyway. Throw a proclamation of love in here? Stubborn me wanted to keep fighting, but Cammie the girl who wanted the boy to like her? She was a summer breeze with floating cherubs carrying flowers and reciting sonnets.” The story was definitely an intriguing read!! Great descriptions and details. A very thorough story, but presented in a way that kept the reader captivated. I had tons of questions as I read, the author always gave the answers, but never right away. Made it suspenseful and kept me on the edge. I couldn’t put the book down. #bookstagram #bookworm #steamyread #steamy #books #booklover #bookaddict #instareads #ebookaddict #readersofinstagram #novels #booklife #epicreads #instareads #bookporn #romance #bookboyfriends #fiction
This was a decent book to read. My problems with this book is that it needed better editing. Also this is one of those books that seems to drag on forever until the climax of the book and then it’s rushed through to the ending. This could have been a five star book if the author wouldn’t have dragged it out in the middle and then rushed the end. It had a great story line even with the issues I had with it.
The beginning of this book starts out at Cammies attack, she is hurt but otherwise ok. Ben comes in guns blazing and demands for her to be moved to his safe house. Cammie is whisked away and relocated to a safe location while Ben attempts to figure out the connection between Jefe and Cammie. As the puzzle pieces begin to snap into place a startling revelation is discovered changing everything. Cammie’s life really is in danger more so than they thought. One simple event places Cammie in severe danger and forcing Ben to come to terms that he may not be able to save her this time. Will Ben be able to keep his promise or is Cammie left to her own demise with a monster?
I Will Always Find You ends with Cammie coming home from the bar and getting knocked out by bad guys we assume are Jefe Cartel. Found picks up where book 1 left off. Cammie is injured but rescued and taken into protective company where she and Vaughn spend almost 3/4 of the book being domesticated. OMG, not what I was expecting. I'm happy that all the obvious foreshadowing was confirmed and everything resolved well but honestly I would've been way more happy with book 1 being a little longer and Cammie not getting rescued first but instead continuing with the actual abduction.
After Cammie finally gets abducted the story is great! Pacing, action, suspense, all of it was everything I was hoping for. Everything that had been building since the beginning of the series came to a wonderful climax and believable conclusion.
There were some great lines, totally quotable! “Stubborn me wanted to keep fighting, but Cammie the girl who wanted the boy to like her? She was a summer breeze with floating cherubs carrying flowers and reciting sonnets.” I can say, I really like the character personalities.
