Main characters: Reeve J'lorn & Nallah Parokk
Type of Kindred: M-Switch or "Snatcher"

Reeve was never one of the favourite and trusted Kindred. A pirate and a “snatcher”, he can “jump into” and possess the bodies of other men for a period of time while they can do nothing to stop him. Still he is the only one who can help the Kindred race and the whole universe as a matter of fact.

Hascion Five’s aggressive race has discovered a new wormhole technology which needs to be destroyed. Luckily one of their high rank officers, Harryx is in a coma. So it would be easy for Reeve to jump into Harryx's body and act like him.

When Reeve (as Harryx) wakes us, he realises that Hascion Five is a planet like Yonnie Six more or less. But in Hascion Five, the abusers are the men. This goes against Reeve's Kindrend insticts.

Nallah is Harryx’s wife who suffers greatly because of him, so she actually prays that he will never wakes up. Unfortunately he will get over his coma, but fortunately he does not seem to act like Harryx. The new Harryx is kind and nice and treats her with respect. Soon, Nallah will start falling in love with her husband.

So, this is a nice, typical kindred story but somehow I wasn't feeling it. I was trying to finish it as soon as possible in order to read something less painful afterwards. Not that the sci-fi part was not good, but I can never feel comfortable reading about domestic abuse in that extent. There are descriptions of raping, beating, cruelty to animals, cruel punishments etc. I was so sad after a while. Not even the happy ending helped.

When I saw this was free on the Kindle store, I snatched it up right away. (It took me too many minutes to figure out how to review this book on Goodreads-I hate the new book page!)

This book was interesting because the hero is a type of Kindred that can inhabit other males' bodies. He takes the body of a man in a coma who has access to wormhole technology that our hero, Reeve, is sent to destroy. Reeve falls in love with the man's wife, Nallah. Hascion Five, the planet Reeve travels to, is a society that treats women as property. A man can trade his wife for a younger "model". If he is unhappy with her, he can scar her permanently and cast her out to be gang raped in the streets daily. Of course, Nallah's husband was an abusive asshole who viewed her as property. So it's no surprise that she falls in love with the nicer version of her husband (inhabited by Reeve).

The only thing I didn't like was that I had no idea what Reeve & Nallah would do together at the end of the book besides sex. I would have liked Nallah to find a hobby or a job after not having anything except being a glorified housekeeper back on Hascion Five. I have noticed that a lot of Evangeline Anderson's heroes have very similar personalities and are pretty interchangeable..., especially the way they talk in sex scenes LOL, but it's okay.

I really like the whole universe Evangeline has created and even if the books become slightly formulaic after you read so many, I still enjoy them.

Since the Kindred and need females, I think they should just take all of them off of this planet rather than saving just a few.

I always come back to Brides of The Kindred when I am looking to read something that isn't overly dramatic. Anderson sure writes stories with a good balance of adventure, damsel in need and deliciously detailed sexy times. You can't go wrong with this series.

3,5 it was hard to read at first. Nallah has some serious injuries inside and out also had been traumatized badly. It was a bad world she lived in. No one deserves that.

Reeve is so kind and loving. I like his development. Ending was little bit emotional too. Rescue team wins 😁💪

M-Switch Kindred!

Evangeline Anderson's latest Kindred novel features Reeve, an M-Switch Kindred, sometimes called a snatcher, because he's able to send his spirit out to inhabit the bodies of other people, usually by force. Commander Sylvan of the Kindred Mother Ship asks him to travel to a world called Hascion Five to destroy their new wormhole technology. Once the technology is perfected, they plan to use it to conquer other worlds. Therefore they are a danger to other races. So, leaving his body on the Mother Ship, he spirit-travels to Hascion Five, where he inhabits the body of a man called Harryx. Harryx is in the highest echelons of the military, and he's in a coma following an accident. Perfect! Once Reeve/Harryx wakes up and learns a little about the world he's on, he's appalled by the level of misogyny that exists there. Their treatment of women is barbaric and anathema to the Kindred, who revere all females. Then there's Nallah, Harryx' wife, a woman who's been horribly abused by Harryx for years. She can't understand what's happened. She had hoped her husband would stay comatose forever. But now that he's awake, why is he suddenly so nice??

Reeve only planned to be on Hascion Five until his mission was completed, then he'd travel back to the Mother ship. But what will happen to Nallah if Harryx wakes up for real?

This was a wonderful novel about falling in love, keeping hope alive and learning to trust. And despite crazy odds, love conquering all!

This was an interesting read. I liked the concept of Reeve taking over Harryx's body and how attached he got to Nallah. I thought it was weird though for someone who has jumped into many different types of bodies from various cultures and backgrounds that Reeve had that hard of a time 'adjusting' to the ways and customs.

This is a story about rescuing a universe from the spread of an unhealthy society and a woman from an abusive relationship. On Nalla’s world, the men abuse their gift of strength to make their women in general, powerless. As for the hero of the story Reeve, an M-switch, is also treated in general by Kindred and by the people on her planet from a place of fear and distrust as being part of a group in which individuals abused their gifts and ruined the reputation of all.
We are also shown that in each group, there are both compassionate individuals and those that would take advantage of others for whatever reason. This is a failing of both the individual, for their unjustified cruelty and emotional immaturity in not being able to remember to act with strength of character instead of might makes right; and the Governing System for not providing healthy checks and balances for all their people, regardless of gender, age or, economic status, which is made up of the previously mentioned individuals. All in all, this is a vicious cycle teaching both the victims and abusers that their actions are acceptable. So how can things change? That is the question raised here.
In this series, the author has also written stories where females are in charge with results that are also unhealthy. In reality, men and women have their own individual strengths and weaknesses. When two who can complete each other come together, then the magic happens. When this understanding of Power-Sharing is acknowledged and respected across society, well you get the idea. This idea is my understanding of the overall Kindred ideals and why I will read each and every one until this series is through. We may not be there yet, but as long as it is a goal for most, then there is hope.

Wow! Absolutely loved this novella. Everytime a new one comes out, they get better.

This story focuses on Reeve and Nallah. Reeve is a M-Switched Kindred, which means he has the ability to temporarily take over the body of another Male.

When Reeve is given a mission by Commander Sylvan aboard the Kindred Mothership, the last thing he thought he would find was his true mate.

Nallah has grown up on a planet where woman are purchased, traded and discarded as a commodity. Women have no place in this world apart from servicing men in any way they see fit. Nallah is a gentle soul who has been placed with the most vile of monsters; her husband.

I particularity loved this Novella for the following reasons:
* Nallah and Reeve are both gentle souls looking for a purpose and meaning in a life that was forced upon them
* Their book centres on wanting to rid the universe of disparity between male and female species
* We get to see a different sub-species of the Kindred
* The Kindred Goddess shows us that she will not tolerate such treatment of Females upon other Planets, and wishes her Kindred Males to help all females who are forced to live like Nallah
* I particularly liked how Domestic Violence is brought to light; golden brownie points to Evangeline Anderson for taking the time to research real stories survivors of Domestic Violence have told

I dont actually have any downsides to thisnstory, which is a plesant surprise.

I am actually looking forward tonseeing more of these stories, and seeing different sub-species of the Kindred come to light.

You get more of an understanding of what it is like to be unique and different, yet still be part of the bing Kindred family all of our characters have become over all books in this series

I am consistently impressed with Evangeline Anderson's Kindred Tales stories. Though she has approximately 80 of them (!) They really have a large range of characters, worlds and situations. The basis of the series is the Kindred who are looking for women for their "wife" essentially. They mostly live on the mother ship but there were originally I think 3 different type of Kindred and those types lasted for a good number of books. Then as she kept writing she added different types of Kindred and some different planets they randomly visited.

In this book, Reeve (?) is a "M Switch Kindred" (!) who can inhabit other people's bodies. He is tasked to go to a planet that is trying to improve their traveling technology so they can take over other planets. They don' t seem like good guys, but Reeve finds out the it is a patriarchal society where the men don't see women as more than possessions and can be very abusive. The man he inhabits has been abusing his wife for 3 years, and Reeve gets to experience (through the guy's memories) the abuse that Nala has had to endure. He falls in love with her and not only has to destroy the tech, but he wants to save Nala from her husband.

Anderson does use some of the same planets in different books but it is really interesting how many different worlds she's created for her books. This one in particular was a bit hard to read because of the descriptions of what Nala had experienced in the past, but the plot was engaging and the characters were lovable. Anderson kind of hinted at other women on that planet being saved but so far I haven't found another book that covers that in her list. Hopefully she has other women on this awful planet saved in future books.

Evangeline Anderson is one of my most favourite authors. Her stories are always written in such a beautiful style no matter what content is being wrote about. Love a Stranger is no exception. This Kindred Tale is about a very emotional topic, but l believe it was written in such a gentle loving way that still had the honesty of what abuse is about. I would recommend this book to all readers, but as cautioned by Ms Anderson herself, it might contain triggers.
M-Switch Kindred, Reeve Jlorn is our hero of the story. Although looking more like a sexy pirate with a reputation to suit you know right from the start there is going to be something more to this sexy Kindred. Nallah is the beautiful young heroine and our story focus is very much about the life, or should l say prison that Nallah lives on.
M-Switch Kindred are not well liked and trusted even less, but when given the choice between retrieving vital information by trusting an M-Switch there is no choice, they have to trust. Reeve travels to Hascion Five and switches bodies with Harryx, the one male who can retrieve the information. Luckilly for Reeve, Harryx is in a coma so the job becomes easy and uncomplicated, or at least that is what Reeve believes until he meets Nallah.
Being inside Harryx and accessing the memories of him about Nallah and life on Hascion Five is torture and when Harryx wakes from his coma and threatens Nalla it’s a race against time to save the little female that Reeve realises he loves and would do anything for.

Emotional and Dangerous Mission on a Male Dominated Planet!!

Reeve is an M-Switch Kindred which means he can temporarily take over the body of another male. Usually the male will fight back, but they found a highly placed General in a coma and hope Reeve can infiltrate and prevent those on Hascion Five from creating their wormholes and spreading throughout the galaxy. They are rather abhorrent and treat their females like property; very contrary to the Kindred beliefs. Buying and selling females at whim and treating them with beatings and abuse.

Nallah has been married three years. It met none of her expectations, and each day was spent trying to avoid her husband’s heavy fists. When he suddenly awakens from his coma he is gentle and kind, leaving her confused yet hopeful. An emotional journey for both our spy and our heroine as the fate of many hang in the balance.

This book comes with a warning, as the treatment of females is brutal. This is an excellent read, and as our hero is working to save not only Nallah but others in her situation we can sheer for the “good guys” even harder in this story. High heat is also found in this story.

Even though this book deals with a difficult subject (basically a planet full of rapists and abusers), I really did enjoy the story. Thank the Kindred Goddess for the Kindred philosophy that women are equal and should be cherished and protected. This is the first book with an M switch Kindred and Reeve is thrown into a situation that is deplorable to any Kindred - having to face a planet full of monsters and not being able to do anything about it. Though his mission will save women throughout the universe, Reeve finds it difficult to play his part. He has to struggle with the knowledge of what these Hascions males are really like and gives himself away repeatedly (though thankfully, those around him are able to dismiss his actions due to his host's illness). Honestly, the absolute best part of this story is the epilogue where you find out Reeve's new job.

I will admit that I skip over most of the sexy parts (because I don't think it adds anything to the story) but I really love the ideal of Kindred and have read every single one of the Brides of the Kindred and the Kindred Tales and I am looking forward to reading more of these books.

(I also agree with another reviewer that the Punishment Gangs should end up on Yanni Six)

Evangeline Anderson - Loving A Stranger: A Kindred Tales Novel (Brides of the Kindred)

A interesting twist on the main type of Kindred Warriors we have encountered, the hero, Reeve, is SM M-Switch Kindred. Shunned by many because they are able to enter into the minds and bodies of other they are also known as snatchers.
Reeve is surprised to be summoned by Commander Sylvan for an important mission only he can do. He must take over the mind and body of a high ranking elite member of the government of Hascion Five. A race of males who treat women and animals abominably and plan on using their new wormhole technology to conquer other planets and societies.
An exciting, heart wrenching, at times shocking read that keeps readers turning pages and on their toes through the book.
There is a warning in the beginning of the book as it does contain some subjects (rape, abuse, cruelty) that could be difficult for some women to encounter. The cruelty of these males did not stop with just the females but with many defenseless life forms and I found I had to skip through those passages.
In the end it was satisfying to see evil once again being conquered, meet great new characters (Reeve and Nallah) and get lost in the amazing World of the Kindred .

This is one series I never get enough of. Just when you wonder if the author can get any more creative she proves to you she can. I just love the M-Switch Kindred in this book. Reeve J’lorn was one sexy caring guy.

Now this story does have a trigger warning and for good reason. Nallah who lived on Hascion Five was an in an abusive relationship. Most women on this planet were not consider a person but property. They were used, beaten, and wrapped. They were considered worthless and this women truly felt worthless. It was truly a very sad situation.

I loved reading about Reeve falling in love with Nallah. He truly hurt for the pain she went through. He wanted to give her justice for the pain her husband had caused her. He truly felt the pain when he saw the hurt, pain, and fear every time she looked at him. See Reeve was in her husband’ body. He had a special job he was suppose to do for the Kindred on the mothership.

This is truly a great story. I truly hope the author does some more future books on the M-Switch Kindred.

I love the Kindred Brides, I’ve been addicted since the very beginning and have fallen more and more each book. I’m so glad that Evangeline has started her Kindred Tales series, there’s so much more to these guys than just the rough exterior you see. They’re determined to make sure their females are taken care of, healthy and safe. They love like no other, and I really wish there were real men like this. Reeves and Nallah have a situation that’s different from any others. He’s snatched her husband’s body to destroy wormhole tech that could allow their species to go and take over other planets and make them bend to the will of the men. The Kindred and their Goddess has other plans though. This adventure is so sweet and romantic, I couldn’t put it down for a moment. I’m looking forward to whatever is next in Evangeline’s writing.

>Book Review – Loving a Stranger
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 8th in the Kindred Tales series and ends with an HEA. Reeve is an M-Switch Kindred who is hired to occupy the body of a very abusive husband. Nallah is the wife of the man that Reeve now inhabits. She is used to extremely abusive behavior from him and from the whole planet she lives on. Reeve is disgusted and falls for Nallah, even though she thinks he is her husband with a much nicer attitude.
>The story has the usual sexuality of the Kindred stories, but also touches on the abuse and its aftermath. Reeve treating Nallah with love and kindness is a beautiful thing to watch. Nallah soaks in the kindness like sponge.
> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars. The story is relatively short, but the depth of feeling is just as satisfying as any of the other Kindred Tales.

(Audiobooks version) Wow. I think this was the 1st book I actually wanted to beat, maim, torture an entire planet of men. What horrible, unforgivable excuses of men they were. Evangeline Anderson is truly an amazing author to be able to make you feel such strong emotions in this story. I thank her for it. Seriously though, this book is not for the faint of heart. Trigger warnings beware. Women are only there for the use of their husband. No rights, their body, mind and soul are the property of their male owner/husband. He can use her however he chooses to with no consequences of his actions. If he tires of her he can throw her away (read the story to see what happens then to the poor thing) and purchase another one. Thank heavens her night in shining armor saves her and as always you get that happily ever after in the end, but wow it was a hard road they had to travel to get there. I see a better future coming for that planet.

Another excellent Kindred story.

This book introduces us to Reeve, an M Kindred. M Kindred are able to take over the body of another male for a short time. Because of this they are avoided by other Kindred, after all who wants someone else using their body!? But now the Kindred need an M Kindred to visit another planet and occupy the body of a high ranking officer in order to sabotage their temporal displacement programme. The fact that the officer is in a coma makes taking his place easier.
Nallah is the officer's wife and she is sitting by his hospital bed when he suddenly sits up in bed.
Reeve finds a truly revolting situation on the planet that makes him determined to carry out his orders and then to come back and rescue Nallah.
But things are never that easy.
Another excellent story in the Kindred universe.

I am not sure

The book was ok, but I just wanted to finish it. Early on I began to wonder if I was reading some anti-Muslim propaganda in romance novel form. I don't know to writer personally, but I have read some of her other books and have enjoyed them. This one about a planet...read region of the world, where women have no rights at all and is property to be sold by their father. And every single man is an abusive rapist who dominate women. And women have to be completely covered up and are not allowed on public transportation. And get gang raped as punishment if they are out after dark. Not sure how I feel about this. She is rescued by the hero who comes from this noble planet where women have equal rights and are respected and cherished...read western civilization. Maybe I am totally off, but this book was just ok for me and not the escape I was looking for.

Another great story !!!

Imagine women were lower then crap...
Well, that sums up Nallah's existence on her home world , where women are used , abused, bought , sold and cast out on their own defenceless on the whim of their husbands !!!
Reeve is a " , snatcher " Kindred, which basically means that he can actually inhabit other peoples bodies for a time.
In this instance, Reeve is assigned to infiltrate Nallah's husband in order to destroy some machinery that may get out.
Once Revee understands this crazy mixed up world, he really had his work cut out for him , as Nallah's and he navigate a married life where every aspect is an anathema to him .......
I thought this book was exciting and I was on pins and needles with how this book was going to go ....
A truly hard read at times, but a great story !!

The world and society of Hascion 5 was one of the most horrific I have ever read. The barbaric misogyny practiced amongst the men was disgusting to say the very least and that any women survive is a miracle. Nallah is trapped in a terrible marriage to her comatose husband when Reeve, an M Switch Kindred switches into his body. As she gets to know this new and loving husband she falls in love and the story really begins. I loved it although be forewarned that some of the descriptions are tough to read. The love that Nallah develops for her “new” husband” is so sweet and Reeve is as gentle as only a Kindred can be. Well worth a read.

Despite this not being one of my favorite Kindred tales, I enjoyed it as another addition to the world. There are some difficult events recalled in the story which may be hard for some. Reeve and Nallah are in an interesting situation as Reeve is in her husband's body in an effort to infiltrate her planet and stall their technology development. Nallah doesn't know why her husband isn't acting like his usual abusive self, but somehow she is drawn to him. You can't wait for them to be together after you see the struggles and abuse she's been through. You'll have to read to see how Reeve and Nallah overcome the distance and to see if Nallah will accept the stranger she has come to care for. Wow

Nallah and Reeve's story was unexpectedly wonderful , horrifying, sexy and deeply heart felt all at the same time. I'm guilty of not reading this series in any kind of order. I read the stories and characters that most appeal to me at a specific moment in time. I've read 16 stories about the Kindred 4 of those are Kindred tales. I've never truly enjoyed disliking characters or for that matter a whole group of people as I did in this one. Hascion Five is a place like Yonni six where I would never want to go it's just the opposite it's for women instead of men for cruelty and terror. Reeve is a bit of a rouge in the beginning but a true kindred at heart when he sees the pain and suffering Nallah and the other women go through he is determined to rescue them and show Nallah what it truly means to be loved. Wonderful story.

Story - I find the the story a little dull and repetitive. It kept going on and on about how Nallah was being abused and mistreated in her planet. Reeve's actual mission was wrapped up pretty quickly without much climax or danger. Overall a decent read and I've learned something about M-Switch Kindred.

Audio - Mackenzie Cartwright performed remarkably and brought all the characters to life.

Done well

This book was done well with a subject most of us don't have to deal with, abuse: verbal and physical to the extreme, a man's reason reason to be against said abuses and his reason for wanting to step in with compassion and love even know he could have disappeared and never cared, a woman struggle to see she better than that abuse, a willingness to wait a lifetime and guide the person whom been abused and it all was handled clearly and compassionately. If this book makes you uncomfortable well may be you need to educate your self and find a way to get through it because this book worth the read. Well done Mrs Anderson.

Another Great One

I have read ALL of the Kindred books and loved them all! This one had me the most worked up though. This was a great way for the M-switch kindred to use their gift in a good way. Reeves is given a mission because he is an M-switch kindred. He inhabits a body of a man that is a real monster. Nallah is the ever dutiful wife who does all she is told and still gets punished by her monster of a husband. I was so angry over some of the stuff that happened to Nallah, that I wished I could jump into the book and beat Harryx(the husband) myself. Evangeline did an amazing job with this book! I would recommend everyone read this book!!!

Reeve is summoned for a special mission. He is an M-switch kindred, meaning he is capable of taking over another males body for a short time. He is to jump into the body of a commander on Hascion Five and thwart the race's plan to use a wormhole and spread to other planets. Reeve lucks out when the body he jumps into is in a coma. He quickly learns that the guy is a real jerk. Moreover, most of the men on the planet think of women as sex slaves and have no say in anything.

Reeve realizes that Commander Harryx is married and relentlessly abuses his wife, mentally and physically. Reeve is determined to complete his mission and also save Nallah from this abusive culture.
