For the colony to survive, the Commandos must go on the offensive!

Lieutenant Warden’s Marines have driven the enemy from New Bristol and saved the colony but they’re not yet in the clear. Now they face a new challenge; the imminent arrival of an enemy fleet.

Together with the colonists, Warden and Atticus mount a guerrilla war against the invaders, driving them back in an attempt to save the city and secure the colony.

But the invaders have their own plans and resources. Huge walking tanks, massive production facilities and advanced technology are all deployed as they try to break the Royal Marines and take the planet from the colonists.

Can Warden and his Commandos hold out until the Royal Navy arrives?

Marines are hitting the beach, as you can tell

This second book in the series still leaves the history of who the enemy are. You get a little information about The List Arks. And one that we now have an interest in. But still no reason for their attack or why they are returning? Their tech advantage is there to be explored and used. Things are getting exciting now that the Marines have boarded and taken a ship as a prize of war. And the name and location of a planet to go look at, and learn from.

British sci-fi

Really great read, pulled me in with the first book, and kept going with this one. Very British in its style. Most refreshing, please keep it up.

Unique in that the politician is both competent and honest

Love the small science colony vibe with military action
. Fun read so far both first and second books. Good problem solving techniques.

I enjoyed the first book in this series. This one is considerably longer and has room for the plots to be developed more expansively. Perhaps a little too much freedom to roam; some storylines go beyond their natural lifespan and ramble around.

Of more serious concern is the magic bullet effect. Or, in this case, the single-handed psychopath who can be relied upon to rescue the day just when it seems that all is lost. This is badly overdone in it is sloppy writing.

A feature of this book, but not its prequel, is some shocking proof reading. To the extent that several passages need a couple of readings before resolving themselves.

But, once again, the authors have come up with engaging characters and a plot that just about holds together and manages to be eminently readable and enjoyable. But, please, less of our decimal penal marine next time.

Once again an excellent book, and for me an absolute page turner. Characters and storyline all flow smoothly leaving me wanting more. This is the updated version and I have no intention of reading the original. As another reviewer mentioned in book one, a little back story on Marine X would be good.

It's better than the last one

I enjoyed reading this book it's superb. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action. Ten is brilliant and reminds me of some of the marines I knew. Marines are good but where are the paras .
I look forward to more from this series.😉

I have found this series to be one of the better series of military SF I have read. This is the second book which ‐-----------' ends with ‐---------------. Recommended.

Love it

More Ten, please. He is the perfect, irreverently plucky marine. Action, serious-humor, and characters that are easy to get interested in. A great read.

A JE/JE. SYFY. Novel (TRMSCB. - 2) An Indefensible Planet

JE/JE. have. penned a SYFY. novel, which shows a small Royal Marine Combat Unit attempting to HuRd a planet from an opposing force that is better suited to win. The defending force is deleted and then the remainder become Guerrilla's. hoping to stop the invaders in their attempt at conquest. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
