PRESENTING CINDERELEVANT:A REVERSE HAREM FAIRYTALE RETELLING BY P.MATTERN
A lonely and neglected peasant girl living in a small town will rise to unimaginable heights of feminine power.
A TWISTED TALE OF BEAUTY, POWER AND FATE
“You were nothing when you came here and if you don’t start paying attention you will be nothing when you leave here”
One by one the Prince’s brothers will fall in love with her and challenge their brother’s right to claim her in every way they know how.
Half orphaned Cinderessa finds adjusting to her father’s remarriage with affluent widow Marlise challenging. Even more challenging is trying to adjust to her two older Stepsisters, Marietta and Priscilla, who let her know from the start that they despise her.
When her father dies less than 6 months into his new marriage , Cinderessa is left orphaned and all her father’s belongings go to the widow-all of them except for the silver pinky ring that had been a special birthday present to her. Her Stepmother wastes no time informing her that the only way she would be allowed to stay under their roof was if she performs all the household tasks , sleeping in front of the kitchen fireplace to make sure it never goes out.
When a Grand Ball is announced in honor of the King’s oldest son Fabien, her Stepmother is quick to tell Cinderessa that she will not be attending, but through the machinations of three odd characters she does attend, resplendent and unrecognizable, stealing the Prince’s heart.
When the magic wears off at the stroke of midnight, Cinderessa ‘s feet are set on a path that will lead to a return to the castle, the amorous attentions of the Prince’s handsome brothers, and a destiny she could never imagine.
“This retelling is the most riveting I have ever had the pleasure to read, inventive and fresh. Now I want author P.Mattern to reinvent ALL the fairytales of my childhood!”—BATHSHEBA’S BOOK REVIEWS
I received Cinderelevant as a free novella from the author/publisher. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion.
I loved the blurb, and found the title clever-- these two things encouraged me to respond to the author when I came across a post asking for readers to review this story. Much as I love support new authors, this novella is in need of an editor (developmental and structurally). Grammar nerds will be throwing up their hands at the incorrect punctuation (especially dropped quotation marks and breaking up sentences into too many paragraphs).
Also, if you're purchasing the book because it's a reverse harem-- it's not. Cinder is cheating on just about everyone--this is indiscriminate sex, not the gathering of a dedicated and loving harem. She also ends with a single partner. I found the overall storyline somewhat fractured, things thrown into the story which had no real meaning or advancement to the plot.
There is a lot of potential in the storylline and with a good editor, I can see my rating on this book jump up a few stars-- but as is, nope; needs more work.
What a fun take on the Cinderella story! P. Mattern has wove us a fairy tale unlike any we could come up with! Sexy and fun and most of all, not predictable! Bravo!
This is a reverse harem retelling of the fairy tale we all know and love. Cinderessa is a peasant girl that lives with her widowed father and she has to adjust to his marriage to the rich widow Marlise. She has two older daughters and that's even harder for Cinderessa to adjust to because they let her know whenever they can that they despise her. Half a year into his marriage, Cinderessa's father passes away and she is left with a stepmother, and two stepsisters, all of whom detest her. Cinderessa gets nothing from her father, except a little silver pinky ring that he gave to her as a present. Everything goes to her stepmother. Her stepmother tells her that the only way she's allowed to stay in the house that she shared with her father is if she does all of the household duties, and she has to sleep in front of the fireplace to ensure that the fire doesn't die out. One day, a grand ball is announced to celebrate Fabian, the King's oldest son, and Malise is quick to tell Cinderessa that she's not allowed to go. But, three characters in the novel help make it to where she can attend without her stepmother knowing. One by one the Prince's brothers fall for Cinderessa, and she falls for them too. In the end, she gets to choose who will take over the throne after the King dies in battle and after the Queen dies of the plague. She marries the Prince she chooses to be King and she becomes Queen, and she gets the happily ever after that she deserves! This book was spicy and exciting, it's everything we've come to expect in a Patricia Mattern book. I was on the edge of my seat and found myself rooting for Cinder! If you like spicy fairy tale retellings, I HIGHLY recommend this one, you won't regret reading it! ❤ Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cinderelevant Is Awesome! Best retell of a classic!
Well this book may seem like it is going to be a traditional Cinderella story. Well let me tell you it is so much more then traditional. I girl who is neglected and who is poor does much more then you can imagine when she is pretty much left to defend for her own.
Cinderessa father takes a new wife Marlise and she must learn to adjust to Marlisa her stepmother and her not so nice treatment of her. With Marlisa comes two spoiled bratty stepsisters, Marietta and Priscilla who do nothing but pick on Cinderessa. After 6 months into the marriage Cinderessa father dies and things get worse for her.
Well the night of the Grand Ball begins abd the start change of Cinderessa begins as well! She will show how strong a she has become! Will she break free from her evil stepmother and stepsisters! Will she make her father proud. Will she soar as a female! You must read the twist on this tale. I am so tempted to tell you everything.
This is the best version of a Cinderella retell yet! It should be a movie it would put other remakes to shame! P Mattern if I could give you ten stars I would!! Thanks for us see a strong female rise up! Love Cinderessa!
Cinderella with a twist! This is most definitely not your average fairy tale, yet at the end it does have a very Happily Ever After. Most fairy tales, the Madden/and or Princess and the Prince fall madly in love and end up getting married. Some what true in Cinderelevant. This is more of a family love affair. Love, sex, family, Royalty, and death. Each of those plays a strangely unique part as Prince Remy is not the only one who is in love with Cinder. His younger brother, his Lady Charlotte, and Davies Remy's best friend and brother. Through every love there is always tragedy, loss, heartbreak and reassurance that love is indeed real. The loss of the King, due to battle, the Queen and his lady to the plague. Cinder knows that love subdues it all, but the love she has for Remy is nothing like the first real love of Davies. Cinder has the choice of who the King to be is to rule the Kingdom, and who she chooses to wed. Most fairy tales have way to repeat themselves, where Cinderelevant keeps you wanting m
The book intrigued me when the author was nominated Best Indie Author of 2018 awards on my author blog, and the author was nice enough to share the story with me for a review. Mattern pens a unique and interesting story in Cinderelavant. The title drew me in and the story made me stay. Yes, it's a modern day take on Cinderella, but it's much more than what the author calls it "a reverse Harlem fairytale." This story was about Cinderess (Cinder). The words of her father, haunting her, but warning her, "Your circumstances are going to get worse before they get better..." and they do, but she deals with her step-mother, step-sisters, and everyone else who looks down on her. It's a great fairytale story. I look forward to reading more by this author.
First off this is not your normal fairy tale book because it commands two things into one book. It's amazing and five star book. hard to put the book down once you start it. Took me a couple of days to read it but omg to it. So much in this book makes your brain think your in the book when your not. Five star book. I would reccomed this book for anyone who loves this author or is looking for a new book to read. You will have a hard time putting this book down like I did. Will be rereading this book
A short and quick paced book based on the Cinderella. It was entertaining, great characters and keeps you guessing who all of the men Cinderessa will be involved in. The back story will keep you entertained also. There were even some "surprise" pursuers. I kept wondering what would happen in the end and that was a surprise also.
P.Mattern takes on an famous fairytale and sends it on the most entertaining ride that retells it in a totally new and amazing directions. She gives so much life to her characters and make them completely relevant. Her description to details is incredible and you get lost on the journey with her. A great read for absolutely everyone!
*WARNING* for ages 18+ Cinderessa has the mean step mother, step sisters, and goes to the ball, but that's really where the likeness to Cinderella stops. I think this story is okay, but not really a reverse harem in my opinion. This story paints Cinder as a harlot. She is just a mistreated young woman (mistreated by step family) with a high libido who has sex with who ever comes to her bed.
This book is along the lines of Cinderella but, it is totally different. Lots of twists and turns in it. And an ending one doesnt suspect. Well worth a read. I really enjoyed it.
Cinderessa has always been like the fairytale Cinderella, even down tho her being a slave. That is until she's walking home and gets fun down by a Prince. It's a true fairytale
Cinderella deserved a better retelling than this ridiculous porn version. Characters were flat and boring. She had sex with everyone who wanted her. She has no emotional reactions. It's awful.
The only good thing about this book is the title. It’s riddled with spelling and grammatical errors throughout. None of the characters are likable and the “romance” is crap.
A remarkable remake of the book Cinderella. P. Mattern has put more twists and turns in this new story that you won’t be able to put it down. The strong female role is very refreshing. The ending is different and some will like it and some won’t. I truly enjoyed the entire book.
