Lord Love a Lady #2

A Lady's Prerogative

Rate this book
It’s not fair. Titled rakes can practically get away with murder, but one tiny little misstep and a debutante is sent away to the country. Which is where Lady Natalie Spencer is stuck after jilting her betrothed. Frustrated with her banishment, she’s finished being a good girl and ready to be a little naughty. Luckily she has brothers, one of whom has brought home his delightfully gorgeous friend.
After recently inheriting an earldom, Garrett Castleton is determined to turn over a new leaf and shed the roguish lifestyle he adopted years ago. His friend’s sister, no matter how enticing, is out-of-bounds. He has a run-down estate to manage and tenants to save from destitution.
Can love find a compromise between the two, or will their stubbornness get them into even more trouble?

Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.

After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything in 2008; our business, our home, even our car.

At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender (Insert irony). Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.

And then the energy market dropped off.

And then my dog died.

I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination.
After publishing over twenty novels now, with one having been nominated for RWA’s Distinguished ™RITA Award in 2019, I am happy to tell you that I have finally found my place in life.

I run out of new and expressive things to say about Ann’s books , so at a risk of being repetitive let me just say, this one is Awesome!
The second in this Regency romance series , it doesn’t hold back on the entertainment.
Lady Natalie ,who we met in Nobody’s Lady , you remember, the one who jilted a Duke .
This is her HEA .
Garrett Castleton , Earl Of Hawthorne., a good friend of Stone , Natalie’s brother and the son of the nasty Earl who caused all the trouble in the last book , well he’s her sparing partner .
The chemistry between these two is wonderful, Ann has them perfectly aligned , the way they talk ,act and love together is nothing short of electric in every way .
The lake scene and the poetry is both funny and moving .
The paintings from his mother ,this is the part that made me cry, sob to be precise.
This is one book I’ll keep reading repeatedly.
It’s going to be so hard waiting for the next book .
I received an advanced copy of this book and chose to submit a review

Angsty H and a young h who becomes an adult as she falls in love. She's a much loved girl in a family of men, and when she learns the H's story she sees the luxury of her family life. He's very attracted to her from the first, and is surprised that her family accepts him. I liked the careful way he treated her, and was sad that despite being a good man, he was judged so harshly. It's quite a sad story with a well deserved HEA.

Extraordinary read!!

First off, I immediately adored Natalie. I found her witty, bold, and charming. I loved the fact that she regarded the unfair rules between men and women during her time. I loved the fact that she put others ahead of herself, regardless of what it cost her. Not your cookie-cutter, run-of-the-mill debutante! She quickly won my heart and I rooted for her from the beginning. For a lady to only half-heartedly listen to her parent's lectures knowing she knew the untold truth spoke volumes on her character.

Secondly, immediately loved Garret. Anyone who can rise above the ashes of his past like a phoenix has my utmost respect. I also love the fact that he put Natalie's welfare above his own feelings. Sometimes, if you love someone enough, you have to let them go. The patience and restraint this man harnessed should have earned him a sainthood.

An outstanding read and it comes with my highest recommendation. This story will tug at your heartstrings and keep you turning pages until the very end.

This was just the sweetest story between Natalie and Garrett! I loved each of these characters separately but they were made that much better when they were together.
I loved how Natalie was feisty and knew what she wanted. She was frustrated with how society treated women in certain social situations and was determined to be happy. Garrett was such a strong character who had been through so much and I loved how he got his hea. I also loved how he was very selfless in his relationship with Natalie and was willing to give up his happiness so that her life would be better.
These two together were just electric, you could feel the attraction and the tension and their banter was just so on point!
It had great plot twists and turns that kept me reading and overall was such a great read. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

An arc copy was provided by the author in return for an honest review.

I was given a free digital copy of this book and am offering my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Annabelle Anders and it will not be my last. I loved this story. The hero and heroine are both battling the strictures of society in their own way. She’s stifled and unfulfilled. He’s been slandered by his fathers misdeeds. They come together in a storyline that is emotional and still sets the pages to sizzling. I abhor spoilers so will not delve into the plot. Suffice it to say, if you are a fan of love and happiness, you will be a fan of this book.

I loved Garrett and Natalie so much. I loved her in Nobody’s Lady as a side character and hoped she would find her own HEA. Garrett had so much to deal with and how he fought to stay away from her, but she is tenacious and wouldn’t give up on him. There is a scene in this book ( I won’t spoil it for you) that was so sweetly innocently seductive at a dinner that I almost melted. I was gifted with an Arc for an honest review. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Every Girl need a Garrett!❤️ A tale of putting someone’s happiness before your own

I have gotten the advanced reader copy and here is my review! Annabelle Anders has a knack for writing heartfelt and compelling stories. And, if you are curious I would say start with all of her books anyone and you’ll fall in love with them. All of her characters in her books are completely unforgettable. But, my review for this book is that the story is completely heartwarming and it’ll knock you in the feels. It was absolutely brilliant I could not find myself putting it down unless I had work.
The the hero, Garrett, he’s considered a rake, but he’s much more than that. I actually thought I was falling in love with him whenever I read about him. I absolutely loved his chemistry with the main lady, Natalie Spencer, she was introduced in the first book of the series.(which I highly recommend reading!) it was very heartfelt that he put her happiness before his own.Trust me, you will fall in love with him after you learn more about him in the story.

Natalie Spencer, after Breaking off the engagement to her ex fiancé she is forced to go into the country because of the scandal. I just love how she was completely not letting it get to her. She was actually happy for her ex fiancé that he got to be with the one he loved. Absolutely loved her Sparky personality! And of course some of her innocence in some moments. I also loved her relationship with her brother Stone. (Which I hope he gets his own story). But, her relationship with Garrett made me chuckle and swoon. You can totally feel for this couple and the dilemma of what they’re going through. I just loved how sweet and selfless lady Natalie was in the story.

This story made me laugh in some parts, and of course had me crying at the second part. As I said this book will really touch you in the feels when you get to those parts.(which I’m not going to spoil.. it’s so good) Garrett really did touch my heart I think he’s one of my top favorite men That I read in historical romance.

As always I look forward to anything that Annabelle Ander’s comes up with. And hopefully, her novels will get all the love that they deserve! Because all of them are completely splendid an because all of them are completely splendid! So, if you’re just learning about her books try one out,and I think you will not be disappointed with her style of writing! Brava with this story!

"I have you to thank for a great deal, my love. You believed in me, when i didn't believe in myself. You were so brave. You fought me. You fought for me."

I received this ARC for an honest review. This is the 1st book ever i've read from Annabelle Anders. I'm so glad for receiving this ARC because now i find another great author. This book is the 2nd one on the series. After this i'm gonna read the 1st one, mark my words!

Review:
Great story for this one. Although the plot is quite predictable at one point, it keeps me reading to prove if i'm right. I was a bit annoyed for the heroine, Lady Natalie, at first. She seems like a spoiled lady. But as the story goes, i find that she is a naive and brave lady who actually cares deeply for her dearest people happiness. She is a great match for the hero, Garrett, Earl Of Hawthorne.

Garrett, for his stubbornness, believed that he can not marry well and have children of his own because his late father's conditions. He is very protective to Natalie and wants the best for her. He convinced he is not the best person for her. He tries to turn down Natalie's approach but of course the latter also doesn't want to give up easily.

Overall the story deserve a 4 star rating. The story is light, warm, and makes me tear up in a few scenes.

Amount of sex 1 / 5
How explicit is the sex scenes 1 / 5
Story 4 / 5
Overall: 4 / 5

Review: Fiesty and fun, Annabelle Anders' characters never disappoint! Having broken off her betrothal to the Duke of Cortland in the first book (which I did not read and felt I like I got what was going on with no issues), Natalie has left her family with a scandal. Shuttling her off to the country, where hopefully time will repair her reputation, Natalie is very bored and hopes to rehabilitate the Earl of Hawthorne's reputation as a means to amuse herself. Garrett, the Earl of Hawthorne, has a difficult time in society. He doesn't much care for the rules of the ton. Being the son of the mad earl, Garrett has a lot to live down as his father had kidnapped a woman and burned his estate down. Despite being dead, his father's madness and actions haunt Garrett making it difficult to think of marriage and children no matter how tempting Lady Natalie may be.

As I mentioned, I did not read the first book. I didn't feel this hampered the enjoyment of this book. Clearly, the characters were part of the first book, but they were most likely sub-players. This story is very much Garrett's and Natalie's story as they journey to love. The characters are well drawn out and a delight to read. There is a very long tease in this book as the characters are dutiful to their roles in society and they are careful to not overstep and cause the possible ruination of Natalie. Although they are quite scandalous for their time, not so much for this reader. Anders' books are usually quite tame by Behind Closed Doors Book Review standards but this one was even tamer than previous books I have read of Anders. My favorite part of the book are the twists at the latter part of the book and the subsequent resolutions to get the couple to their HEA.  A Lady's Prerogative was a fun read!

Being totally elated by the first book in this series, I highly anticipated this second. Can I say "wow", I was not disappointed! There are just too many adjectives I could use to describe this book. Ann takes pen to paper and wraps you into a romantic time I can never get enough of.. We were left at the end of the last book with a secondary character, Lady Natalie, leaving a Duke at the alter. We begin with her being disgraced and sent to the country with her family away from the Ton (you know, those sometimes judgmental high society that have a long memory?). But Natalie is truly an amazing young lady. She jilted the Duke so he could marry the one he truly loved and had no qualms about it.. So we pick up with Natalie with her family and her brother Stone's friend, Garrett Castleton who was invited to take some rest from his problems. Of course sparks seem to fly between the two and Garrett is determined to stay away. I mean, this is his good friend's sister and he is trying to focus on straightening himself up and pulling his life together to take the Earldom. But there is nothing like a determined whirlwind who is both beautiful and intelligent. There are some heartwarming scenes and the humor to be found just will bring a smile to your face. But there is also a lot of strong emotions that will grab your heart and make you sigh. I cannot say enough about this story, while greatly anticipating the next book (there are so many characters I hope will get their HEA I cannot wait!!)

I walked through a door marked Annabelle Anders some months back when Anders
started her trek down Regency Row. I decided to catch up and go along for the trip. I asked if I could be one of her BETA readers or possibly obtain an Arc- I was flat but needed a book fix. Oh yeah, she took pity on this reader and delivered the goods.

A Lady's Prerogative is the second in her Ladies series.

In Nobody's Lady, Natalie being sold to the highest bidder - A Duke, went along as a dutiful daughter but there was a problem - there was no zing, no zap, no tingle. No way!

She reappears in A Lady’s Prerogative, irrepressible as only a loving daughter, the youngest in a family of sons can be, while confined to the country manor in disgrace.

Trouble is her middle name as she chases after that special feeling needed, at least as far as she is concerned, for marriage.

If you've not yet had a fix from this lady's pen go on over to her Amazon page - grab one or two or the whole bunch; yes, she is that entertaining.

A definite buy buy buy book. While this author is not one I am very familiar with in the past, in the future I shall be looking for her books. I was totally impressed with the way she set up a story that was so very different from the usual historical romances. I enjoyed her characters being like real people with real problems that found solutions that did not require all being selfish or greedy. Each page I turned brought me further into the story making it almost impossible for others to get my attention. A natural story teller it seems in her writing that this author is one to keep in your mind to buy her books and relax with. So while I was given this arc via NetGalley, I can do nothing less then to give a review from my own opinion. Buy the book, sit and enjoy! Regards, Anna Swedenmom

This is the second book in this series and I absolutely loved it. I am loving Annabella more and more with each book. I loved the characters and the backstory of Garret was very sad and tragic. My heart broke for him. I loved Natalie from the very beginning, I rooted for her from the very beginning. The chemistry between these two was just awesome. This is one of those books that leaves you with a book hangover and you just have to go back and reread. There was one point I was full on ugly crying. I loved the poetry. This is a must read if you love historical romance.

I received free copy from netgalley for an honest review. This is the first time I've ever read anything by Annabelle Anders but it will definitely not be the last. I love the story I love Garrett who's are broken hero. He is so sweet and damaged and the relationship between him and Natalie feels so organic. Natalie is also a lead that really lives up to that title she is strong and confident and knows exactly what she wants and goes for it.

Brothers friend, a rake attempting to reform meets jilted lady on a quest for passion. This story dances between sensual and sweet, walking the perfect line in the end.

I love that these two characters (Lady Natalie and Lord Hawthorne) compliment one another perfectly. One of my favorite reads this year. This author is fast becoming a favorite of mine.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

I love this trope- Keep your hands off the best friend’s sister! She just jilted a Duke and must behave herself. He is drawn to her but his father was a mad man who burned down the house, neglected his tenants, and nearly murdered a young lady. So he will not marry or have children just in case he goes mad himself. Not to mention how both of them are viewed by the ton. I do love how they both have these feelings yet do not share them with each other it is both sweet and frustrating to read, lol. And of course I always love a good HEA! I will be reading more in this series!

I really wanted to love this book, and although this couple has climbed my list to become one of mt favourites, I feel like this story didn't do them justice, they deserved more. I've loved most of what I've read from this Author so far, since being introduced to her only 3 weeks ago, I've already read 7 of her books, books 2,3 and 4 of her Cocky Gents series being my favourite, I absolutely adored the writing style in those books. This book however, not so much.

What I didn't like:
.I feel like too much page time was given to side characters and their back story. This was just so unnecessary and really took away from the flow of the story for me.
.Way too much time was spent on internal dialogue which not only became exhaustingly redundant, but would have been better spent on actual dialogue between the Garret and Natalie which they honestly needed.
.I don't like that all of their intimate moments were interrupted and ruined by very serious conversations that could have been had at other parts of the story....like half the time given talking about side charcaters. 🙄
.I think Garret was treated terribly in this story and this was never redeemed for me. I wish Natalie had fought harder and earlier to let him know that being with him was all that mattered and not what the world thought. This truly bothered me. I feel like if the roles were reversed, Garret would have taken alot od heat for acting the way Natalie did. Also it truly irked me what her father said about him and that he never clarified or rectified it, esp since Garret held him in such high esteem. My heart simply broke for Garret. I truly believed her deserved better.
.And the mother of them all.....1 very short, not detailed enough sex scene at the very end of the book.

What I liked:
Hard to believe right 🤭, but yes I did enjoy a few things🤫.
.Garret and Natalie had amasing chemistry. The very few intimate scenes they did have were just the right amount of steam to give me all the butterflies and all the feels. The author did an amasing job of showing that they were very simply connected in a way that transcended words. This is one of the reasons I enjoy her writing, she writes very loveable characters and hot couples....save for Diana from Cocky Marquess but that's a rant for another place and time....🙄😏
.Garret even tho introduced as a Rake and all manner of evil, has easily become one of my favourite heroes. He was none of the above. He was kind, compassionate, selfless, HOT 🤤🔥 and utterly in love with and smitten by Natalie. I love this. Even tho, which is usually the case, it took him a lifetime (the entirety of the book) to accept and admit it.
.I love Natalie as a character despite the short comings I described above. She was sweet and kind, strong and soft in just the right mix and very open about wanting him. I loved this.

I know some will disagree with me and that's ok. This is just how the story made me feel when I truly had high hopes for it. This one was a miss for me and I found myself speed reading just to finish it, which I never do, I love to savour my stories.

This book just didn't live up to the high hopes I had for it. Hoping the next in the series is better and doesn't follow a similar path.

I was a bit disappointed with this one. I knew Natalie and liked her somewhat from the previous book. So I was looking forward to reading about her story. Alas, these two were NOT Lilly and Michael. I missed that spark that made the first book special. Instead, I was left with anxious people who seemed to be talking in circles, making little problems into bigger ones aaaand no sex!

Natalie: I thought she was a confusing character. She wanted independence and didn't want anyone to choose things for her. Yet failed to voice those concerns to her parents. She instead limited herself to tell her parents she didn't love Cortland, which was good but not enough for someone who was described (several times 🙄) as brave.
She didn't know what she wanted at all, and in the middle of figuring it out came Garret, which is fine since everyone goes through it. I just wished it was clearly stated that she didn't, in fact, have a clue what she actually wanted.

Garret started out great. The misunderstood rake, who is, in fact, a decent guy who hasn't had it very easy. I was there for him and how he treated Natalie at first. But as the book progresses and he finds out he is not alone in the world, it really bothered me that instead of cultivating that relationship with actual family, he didn't even look for his aunt or even thanked her for telling him who he was.
Speaking of truth, it was pretty shitty of her(Mrs. Sheffield) to have known who he was the whole time and the shame he carried, and not looking for him sooner and tell him who she was to him. It created a really unnecessary mess of the book. And to top it all off, the rake, the seducer who oozes confidence all of the sudden becomes a bundle of insecurities and becomes obsessed -a few steps passed caring, about the ton and how they would react to the wedding.... I mean, really!

And don't even get me started with Natalie turning up in his house in a trunk!!! What was the point of this? Was this really necessary? I would have thought that after he left, he would get a visit from his aunt telling him the truth. Then he would see no impediment keeping him away from Natalie and then decide to go back and fight for her. I know this is just wishful thinking on my part, but when a book I'm reading starts to not build my interest and they lose me, my mind starts deciding what should have happened. Had I been entertained until the end like the last book, I wouldn't be sharing more sound and less messy scenarios!

By the way, what ever happened to the guy who shoved Natalie on the trunk? Not so harmless after all, huh?😞😒... seriously, what a letdown!

I recieved an ARC for this book, It was my first time reading Annabelle Anders and I truly enjoyed reading this one.

Natalie Spencer Jilted her betrothed and is now facing its repercussion. The society is not kind to a Lady who defys its rules, so to protect her reputation she is sent away to the country, where she is almost under house arrest. No parties, no friends and not one misstep, luckily her brother brings along his devilishly handsome, rakish friend and Natalie is done being a Lady.

Garrett Castleton , Earl of Hawthorne, is paying for his fathers sins and believes he could never marry and have children, with the fear of passing a condition that his father suffered from. He is working hard to prove his worth to society, who acknowledges his presence with a condescending sneer.

Garrett meets Natalie when he is invited for a stay to the Spencer house by his friend Stone Spencer. He tries hard to stay away from Natalie and ignore the growing attraction between them but Natalie is determined to get wat she wants and she wants Garrett.

I loved Natalie and her stubborn strong will.. Garrett won my heart with his possessive and protective nature. It was endearing to watch them together, helping and supporting the other with their struggles. The passion between them burned through the pages... It was a pretty entertaining read, I loved the plot, the story flowed through a good pace and there was a nice twist towards the end. I loved Annabelle's style of writing, and would defiantly be looking forward to her next release.

A heart-melting Earl with a heartbreaking story meets his match with a lady rake that is just what he needs! I was so happy to see Natalie get her own story and she does not disappoint. They are like to halves to a whole heart from the start even though you wouldn't think so by the way they act at first. I loved getting to know both of them and uncovering their own stories as they did with each other.  They came from two very different upbringings, but both had scandals that put them at risk. I was holding my breath wishing for a certain twist and wanted to jump up down when it appeared. I did not see the twist of what happened with the trunk coming and was worried for a bit. I laughed when it came to her mother and godmother coming up with a plan. The ending was perfect and I hope to see her brothers again.

Natalie did what she had to so that two people that truly loved each other could be happy. She just didn't expect the rules and lectures that followed. I loved her right away and especially as soon as she decided to take control and be free. She never shied away from anything and really understood him more than anyone.

Garrett is free from his father, but not the scandal that surrounded him. He broke my heart with his fears and reasons for not wanting to marry. But he also was heart-melting with how he listened to her and asked the questions that no one else did. When he discovered the truth it was like a weight off of his shoulders and he had the support he needed.

Publisher's Description:
t’s not fair.

My Thoughts:

This is the second book of this series and the second book I have read by this author. I loved the first one and can honestly say the second one was as good. I am happy to say that this author didn't disappoint me and although part of a series each book can stand on it's own.
This fun series is not to be missed!
I gave this book 4.4 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 2 of 5 flames. There isn't much in the way of sexual intimacy so therefore a low intimacy rating. This did not influence my overall rating of this book.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the author. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Natalie has caused a major scandal by jilting her betrothed, the Duke of Cortland. Because of her actions, her family sends her to the country in disgrace. Natalie is not going about to feel bad for doing the right thing. It is obvious the Duke was not the one for her and he was for her friend, so she certainly wasn't going to stand in the way of true love. Natalie just needs a project to pass the time.

Garrett Castleton is still suffering fallout due to his late father's reputation and actions. When his friend, Stone, invites him to the country estate to escape it all, Garrett cannot say no. What Garrett isn't counting on is that Stone's family has a plan for getting him back into society's good graces and Stone's sister, Natalie is determined to be of the most help. Garrett is intrigued by Natalie, but he has no time for her maneuvering. The last thing he needs is a wife, or is it?

I give author Annabelle Anders A LADY'S PREROGATIVE 3.5 out of 5 stars. To be honest, it would have a higher rating, but I felt Natalie's character was a little silly and immature at times. I'm totally fine with Garrett being kind of arrogant and set in his ways... that's to be expected for a man shaped by what he has been through growing up. The chemistry was there from the start. Natalie finally finds the one. She just has to get past his defenses. All in all, I really enjoyed this addition to Ms. Anders's LORD LOVE A LADY SERIES. I highly recommend reading it's predecessor, book one, NOBODY'S LADY, first.

Have read books by Annabelle Anders & no doubt a very good author ...i have added her to my list of favourite writers... Though this story is predictable...her presentation &flair of witing keeeps a reader captivated... even though u know the conclusion or get a gist of the contents u tend to read on..

This story is about Lady Natalie spencer who appears in the the previous book " Nobody's Lady " wherein she breaks off her betrothal to the Duke of Cortland, thus has left her family with a scandal.
Garrett Castleton , Earl Of Hawthorne.is mired in scandal & looked down upon the ton for his nasty father's behaviour & crimes. He is a good friend of Stone , Natalie’s brother who invites him to stay with them ...From here Natalie & Garret begin there journey of love ...

Garrett is misunderstood as a rake & brash gentlemen by the ton , Natalie as a headstrong person ... both ve a scandalous beginning , both the characters are well drawn out and a delight to read. Natalie is bold, sparky, passionate , loving .intelligent ....she compliments Garrets 's insecurities, doubts by understanding ,supporting him...Annabelle has put in wit ,humour while writing the story ...

Its a very heart touching story .... a nice & outstanding book which will warm your heart ...i highly recommend it & do read the 1st book in this series also ...quite wonderful it is... Annabelle makes u feel her stories, so compassionate, with beautiful emotions ...

Well this was just awesome! I loved Natalie the way she had the backbone to stand up to her father and let him know that she wanted what he had in his marriage, what her ex fiancé with his new bride have, she wants it all! The passion and desire, to matter and be wanted to be loved! She won’t settle for anything less! She’s not going to be the meek biddable daughter any longer she’s willing to go after what she wants !

After a horrific year steeped in scandal after his father’s death Garrett Castleton has an estate to set to rights and looking for a bride isn’t in the plans for him, so when his best friend invites him to take some time and just recoup at his home he takes him up on the invitation. He never expected to encounter Natalie Spencer the only woman who made him want more! He can never have Natalie not only is she his best friends sister she seems to not like him too much. But can he be misreading her mixed messages?

A very fast paced well written story. It’s emotional has plenty of twists and turns and a mystery that after it was solved everything just fell into place. I loved all the secondary characters and I truly hope they get their own stories especially her brother Darlington.
This was another excellent story by Annabelle Anders!
I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

I absolutely loved the first book in this series & Book 2 was just as good. Annabelle Anders has such a gift for making the characters so real & I felt their humor, sorrow, anger, love & passion throughout the story. I would recommend you read this series in order, but they can easily be read as a standalone.

Lady Natalie Spencer, daughter of the Earl of Ravensdale, is a diamond of the first water in her season until she made one mistake & now, she has been taken to the country to avoid more scandal. She had broken her engagement to the Duke of Cortland & society does not treat you kindly.

Natalie's brother, Stone brings his friend, the newly titled Earl of Hawthorne, Garrett Castleton home for a few days. Garrett's mother had died giving birth to him & his father was mean & not always in his right mind. Now Garrett was on his way to the estate he grew up at to help rebuild it after his father set fire to it & to help the many tenants that his father had ignored.

The relationship that built between the damaged hero, who has somewhat of a rakish reputation & has been scorned by society as being the son of a madman & the strong, feisty & confident lady who knows what she wants & then goes after him. This was a wonderful & touching love story with a great story created by Annabelle Anders - I highly recommend it & I know you will love it too!

The more I read Annabelle Anders’s books, the bigger fan I am becoming. A Lady’s Prerogative is the 2nd book in Lord Loves a Lady series and I am hoping this series will never end! I know that it is just wishful thinking however, this book can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read Nobody’s Lady to really understand why Garrett Castleton, Earl of Hawthorn is the way he his. Annabelle has an amazing writing talent that just draws you into her book from the first page to the very last page. The descriptions are so clear and vivid that you really feel like you are back in 1824 England. This story is so original and delightful that I could not put this book down. Oh and the charters are just wonderful, Lady Natalie Spencer is a favorite of mine! This story has a broken engagement, kindness so true that they put some else before themselves, friendships, arranged marriage, possible madness, misunderstandings, unexpected guesses, deception, a new growing friendship, trust, brotherly love, misjudgment in character, scandal, disapproval, evil but is there love? You will just have to read this story to find out! I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed! Bravo Annabelle Anders Bravo!

Another amazing, entertaining lovestory by Ms. Anders.....

This is Lady Natalie Spencer's story. A story of a young woman not willing to accept the arranged marriage by her father, the Earl, is determined to find her own true love. Sent to the family's country estate after calling off her engagement to the Duke of Cortland, Lady Natalie must come to grip with her decision. Although lonely, she resolves that it was the correct one, as she wants more from a marriage than just a title and union. She wants both to be loved and in love with the person she commits to for life. Likewise, she longs for passion.

While out on her 30 minute walk, Natalie bumps into the young Earl of Hawthorne. Natalie brushes him off to return home, before she is yet in trouble again with her father. Unbeknown, to her Lord Garrett, the Earl is taking a holiday in her family's country estate. A story of healing, caring and fighting for what she wants, Natalie uncovers a daunting truth about her brother's friend ... Will this truth set them free or will it bind them forever? Read this story to find the answer and as Lady Natalie Spencer would say would say...."Well, it is... a lady's prerogative..."

I was afforded an advanced reader copy of the book by the author. I voluntarily leave this review.

It’s not fair. Titled rakes can practically get away with murder, but one tiny little misstep and a debutante is sent away to the country. Which is where Lady Natalie Spencer is stuck after jilting her betrothed the Duke of Copeland. After recently inheriting an earldom, Garrett Castleton is determined to turn over a new leaf and shed the roguish lifestyle he adopted years ago.
WOW I thought the first in the series Nobody’s Lady was brilliant but this book is even better. The characterisations are very, very good. The secondary characters were also well fleshed, Marcus & Little Bear were delightful The story flows effortlessly. I was hoping Natalie would have her HEA & hope her three brothers have theirs too especially Stone. A truly lovely read which I highly recommend
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
