This book is extremely well written, and the character development is phenomenal. That being said, I have never been as emotionally drained after finishing a book as I am right now.

It is TOUGH to get through this story - but not because it’s bad, because the characters are so real & not cookie cutter that their pain is extremely relatable. There are trigger warnings at the beginning that everyone should pay attention too because a lot of traumatic events happen.

Watching the decent of Antonin from insecure, quiet, temperamental Ravenclaw to the madman we know him as canonically was masterful - you could see the cracks the whole time but somehow I understood Hermione’s need to love the good parts while he still had them.

And IGOR, don’t even get me started. For all of his flaws, I loved him in this book. My fav fic character is now a tie between Remus in DOT and Igor in this story - awkward that they both are friends of Hermione that also love her & have relationships but neither of them are her *person*. I cried multiple times during the Igor/Hermione arc because he was so protective of her.

Should you read it? Yes
Will I ever read this again? No, emotionally not a possibility

I have been waiting to read this until it was complete because it seemed like something I would get entirely sucked in to and need to have the ending there before I began, and I was so right.
This isn't a simple time turner story either. With how Canimal delves into Death Eater background in her stories there is so much nuance to the characters (and so much more heartbreak), it is just incredible to read. There was so many parts of this story that were brilliant.

This was really epic. It’s the best story about Death Eaters I’ve read and also the only one that ist marauder era, in which the marauders are only mentioned in passing.
I just didn’t like the ending all that much. It was a little too much random luck.

Some of the best character building I have ever read. Also the book is written in an era that’s not covered a lot in fanfiction, but extremely well done here.

Death eather family? Death eater (boy)friends? I’m hooked.

Only thing that had me putting the (extremely long) book down was: … Hermione. AND I KNOW!! the author warned us in the beginning but I still found myself being annoyed by her a bunch of times. SPOILER!:

But it wasn’t to the point that I couldn’t get over it. And I understand that it creates a more relatable hermione persona I guess.

Anyways, Igor may come my way anytime, any day, any place (if you can’t tell: I’m in love).

So all in all a very well written, good flow kinda story that’ll have you hooked!

Trust me when I say I did not plan on crying as much as I did. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical about how the author was going to make Kingsley and Hermione work. The ending was rushed and for some reason, I didn't feel closure. However, the rest of the story was phenomenal. For FF readers, I would say it's on the same level as Debt of Time.

I loved the author's twist at the end with Antonin. When it was mentioned in the story multiple times that he was "going crazy" I never really believed it until the end. Part of me wishes that he still loved Hermione, even though I know they would never get back together. But he was so cruel and cunning; I never expected that.

What I loved the most about this story was that Hermione wasn't some type of "prudish" or "shy virgin." Tbh the only fanfiction I read is the ones where Hermione is paired up with someone and in this she got paired up with Igor (my favorite character!!! He deserved so much better), Antonin, Kingsley, Greyback (I'm still conflicted about this tbh), Augustus Rookwood, and lastly TOM EFFING RIDDLE! As messed up as it was in the story when they hooked up, my Tomione heart couldn't help but swoon.

For those of you who have read Pygmalion by Colubrina, you know what I mean. There were several points in the story where Tom tried recruiting her because she was so powerful. When this would happen, I would imagine a scenario where she ended up with Tom and they had to deal with jealous Antonin and Igor.

Overall, this story was heart-wrenching. I didn't enjoy the ending (I found myself scrolling bc for me Hermione and Kingsley still didn't match well together), but the characters pull you in and make you feel like you're part of their world.

For anyone planning to read this, have tissues for your tears, and be prepared to stay up binge-reading.
