TSpoiler Alert! If you haven’t read the series' prior books, stop now! Briar’s been accused of murder and she’s now firmly entrenched in the hands of the enemy! This series will hook you! Violence can be found in this series of action-packed fantasy, with necromancers, summoners, and badass witches. And occasional cliffhangers!
This book was interesting but not as good as the previous ones. And this is where the spoiler may start... Briar finds herself in lots of trouble yet she finds herself broken. It’s not the strong Briar from the previous books. And everyone keeps telling her to rest. It was just kinda Mehh
Briar goes on trial and things don't look good for her. Then, 3 of the masters start torturing her physically and mentally until she escapes with her dad, who is really a necromancer made to look like her dad. Eventually, 1 of the masters and her sister (Bethany, also a necromancer) get inside her head and she is forced to kill herself to get away from them. How does Zach bring her back?
This book 4 of the series was very good, but it seemed to me that the author had Briar spend too much time being tormented. I understand that it going on and on and on may give a sense of how Briar felt it would never end, but it got a tiny bit boring after a while. Other than that, it was very good. I’m about to start book 5, and I’m excited.

Briar is "The Chosen" and her necromancer sister Bethany wants her to raise the Master. Briar keeps trying to keep Zac and the rest of her friends alive without letting them help her. She refuses to bring Bethany's Master Zylon back to this world. Infraction book 4 of the Academy of Ancients. Avery Cross keeps getting better and better with each book in this series.
This was the worst best book I have read in a long time. Briar went through hell and it ends with hope but no real victory yet. It was a hard book to read but impossible to put down. I am hoping for a HEA ending
I enjoyed starting this series and have been purchasing because most of these books and on a cliffhanger… But going into the fifth book, it is still the same and is dragging. It is time to wrap it up and go in a different direction!
Amazing book, amazing series. I got the boxset because I read fast and prefer to binge read series; the biggest problem with that is when I love a book I get much more attached and I’m heartbroken by the loss of General Morris in ways I can’t even describe. The story is unique and dragged me in from the first book, each one has sucked me in more and more.
