Cavan Scott, along with Justina Ireland, Claudia Gray, Daniel Jose Older, and Charles Soule are crafting a new era in the Star Wars publishing world called Star Wars: The High Republic. Cavan's contribution to the era is a comic book series released through Marvel Comics titled Star Wars: The High Republic.
Nice and well done. I'm a bit use to choose your own adventure books that branch off and connect back in with a mass of tangled stories, but this one tends to dead end at two "wrong" choices down the line with a definitely correct story to follow along.
Also, Cavan Scott can't write a Star Wars book with referencing Jaxxon, and this is no exception.
I've never before read a choose-your-own-adventure book but thought it was so much fun. It was a traditional Star Wars plot with the familiar characters of Luke, Leia and R2D2, and you follow the prompts to figure out where their mission takes them. This would be a great interactive read for kids and adults alike. Cute illustrations too.
An okay book with a somewhat forgettable story. My biggest gripe with these choose your destiny books is that none of your choices feel super impactful, as the "wrong" choices quickly end the story and tell you to go back to an earlier page.
I think I like the art in these CYD Star Wars books, more than the stories (which are still good "what if?" scenarios beyond the movies and other books/comics).
A fun adventure that is challenging to solve. This is definitely for the middle school crowd. The characters personalities are here, but they don’t quite feel like our usual crew this time.
A fun read that shows you how many mistakes one can make along the way to the one conclusion. Thankfully the side threads didn’t go too far before winding up so you could get back to the real story.
