I am voluntarily submitting my honest review after receiving a copy of this ebook via BookFunnel and AXP.

In this charming story, the Montgomery brothers' family castle is tied to the marriage of Callum to long-time family friend, Lady Isla McIntyre. When Hamish finds out his brother Callum is about to wed another woman and forfeit the castle, Hamish rushes to London to stop the wedding. All kinds of crazy adventures ensue as Hamish tries to halt the wedding and the bride's sister tries to foil Hamish's efforts and allow her sister and Callum to proceed with their plans.

SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! In order for me to explain why I didn't give this book a higher rating than I otherwise would have, I need to spill the beans a bit...

This is an entertaining historical romance, however, I felt that there were just too many omissions and loose ends for it to reach its full potential. For example, when Hamish first meets the prospective bride's mother, she talks about how exciting it will be for her daughter to be a duchess and live in a castle. Why doesn't Hamish just say right then and there that if Callum marries her, the castle is forfeit? If he truly wants to stop the wedding, he would speak up at that point, particularly given all the other antics he performs at that meeting. In addition, at several points in the story, the lack of romantic spark between Callum and his forbidden bride is mentioned, yet at no point is it ever explained why these two are so determined to marry despite the dire financial consequences. At no point do we learn if Callum's bride is even aware that she is the reason Callum is sacrificing his family's castle. And at no point does Callum apologize for or even acknowledge that he decided to make this sacrifice on behalf of his brother without consulting him or even mentioning it to him after it appears that Hamish is the one who has done the lion's share of the work in keeping their family afloat. With a little more fleshing out of some of these issues, this unique story has real potential, but it just isn't quite there yet for me.

DNF at 32%. I can usually get through these and have fun but this one is incredibly implausible and paints Scotsmen as horrible breachers of societal rules of the time. Nnnahhh.

The accents were good, but the recording felt low quality at times.

The writer couldn't remember the name of her characters. Overall story felt too long for what was happening. Also, the whole novel was based on one character trying to stop his brother's wedding and the other trying to make sure it happened .
I just skimmed to the end. Not worth my time.

3.5 stars

Hamish's brother Callum is marrying a commoner rather than the earl's daughter he is engaged to. If this goes ahead his family will lose everything. He will stop at nothing to stop the wedding.

Georgianna's sister is marrying callum and she has never seen her so happy. She will do anything to ensure her sister's happiness, even if it means she has to go through her soon-to-be brother in law.

Full of Blythe's charm and research, I really enjoyed this story.

Trigger warnings: death of a parent (in the past). I think that's all??

3.5 stars.

This was free and I got exactly what I paid for. This was more than a little ridiculous but also surprisingly fun. The characters were entertaining and the writing was pretty solid. There were several quite funny elements that I didn't see coming. And honestly? I'm always a sucker for a roadtrip novel, whether it be set in the present or 200 years ago, and I'm legitimately considering picking up the next book in the series if only to find out what REALLY happened to that particular couple.

What to do when a gentleman lands in your bedroom thinking you were your sister? Well if it was the handsome Scot Hamish, you might be amused, or not. Georgiana Butterworth never expected a visit from Hamish, but finding out he is trying to stop the wedding of her sister Charlotte to his older brother, she is determined to thwart him. Trying to bribe her with money to not marry his brother ( he at first thinks she is her sister) is only one angle he tries. But fate steps in and they become attracted to each other. This was such an enjoyable read with a lot of humor and strong emotions. What will they do? Can they find their happy at this unexpected twist? As always, Bianca Blythe wows with a wonderful story that will have you smiling and turning the pages!

Delightful

This delightful romance comes with absurd humor, wry internal dialogue, and gentle poking of fun at the stuffiness of Regency romances. There's one scene containing explicit content, but it's well written and more about the feels than about the mechanics. Of course, there's the requisite misunderstanding arising from a failure to communicate, but all resolves quickly for the equally requisite happily ever after. The content does have some editing errors sprinkled throughout, indicating a need for a competent proofreader.

Hamish is determined to stop his brother’s wedding. He decides to bribe the bride. However he tries to bribe the sister of the bride instead. Funny how attractive she was. Funny how exciting he was. They each are determined to help their sibling. They go to great lengths to achieve their ends.
This is a lovely story. A little unlikely but fun.

Loved it, nicely written

Loved the twist of the story, but how did Georgiana not recognize Hammish, the twin of her soon to be brother inlaw. Now I need the next book to know if the Duke & Charlotte, were really in love.

This was so bad I could not even finish it. There was nothing I liked about it. I tried so hard got 60% through but it was just not good. Neither character made me want to find out what happened. Poorly written. No intrigue.

I found this novel to be a bit of a mixed bag. I enjoyed the banter between Hamish and Georgiana and the plot was okay, but it had a number of holes in it. Why did Hamish not tell Georgiana's family that Callum would lose the house if he married Charlotte. It was a little odd that a stately home would not be entailed. Why did Georgiana hide in Hamish's carriage if he was heading for home and not Gretna Green and what self respecting landlord would give Georgiana a bucket of water to wake Hamish up. It would soak all the mattress and the bedding. It would have been amusing if it had just be left as a joke.
Hamish's eyes miraculously changed from blue to green. The mention of Penny Dreadfuls was historically inaccurate as they were a Victorian product, and since when was Carlisle in County Durham. I wish I did not notice these things as they enjoy the enjoyment of the story, but unfortunately I do. The plot was basically sound but could have been so much more.
There were irritating omissions, one being the explanation of Callum's relationship with Charlotte and the reactions of Wolfe and Isla McIntyre. This could have been expanded more.
On the plus side the plot was interesting enough to keep me interested to the end and I enjoyed the dialogue between the main characters.
The secondary characters, mainly Mr and Mrs Butterworth were likable, especially the vicar who was mild, but educated and no pushover.
Okay for a free read if you can look over the errors.

Keep it straight

SPOILERS! I have read this and the second book in the series, Gentlemen Prefer Bluestockings. Both had many typos and grammatical errors. The worst flub was the fact that the hero in this book, Hamish, is the fraternal twin brother of the hero of the second book, Callum. In this book Hamish tells the heroine that he was four when their parents died. In the second book Callum tells his heroine that he was seven when their parents died. Although I have never had fraternal twins, I’m really sure it’s impossible for them to be born three years apart.
Needless to say, I won’t be wasting my money on the rest of the series.

An enjoyable read, the two main characters are likeable in their own ways. The story was told at a good pace. I was a little confused as to how the Duke and Charlotte met, seeing as they didn’t communicate much. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

***This might be considered a spoiler to some. If you want to read the book without spoiling it, you might not want to read this review.
I was totally confused when reading the first 10 chapters of the book. While this book was supposed to be about Georgiana and Hamish, it focused more on Charlotte and Callum's wedding. That didn't make a great deal of sense.
From almost the very beginning, I truly did not like Hamish Montgomery, the supposed Hero of the story. He was a most reprehensible, conceited character, decidedly upset to have been born "late". He was a twin which made his brother, Callum, the Duke. The beginning of the story said that he regretted being "late" by 8 minutes...meaning he was upset that he was not born first and therefore the duke. Therefore, he was determined to never be late again in anything. He was a very arrogant man, who believed he was right about everything and, therefore, everything he did was right as well, even if it meant keeping his brother from being happy. He also harbored a great deal of anger toward all Englishman for how England had treated Scotland, and he was determined to make any person born in England suffer for it.
Georgiana, on the other hand, was a bit naive, but very intelligent at the same time. She did tend to get herself into (and out of) trouble from time to time. She was the eldest daughter of a vicar. While trying to ensure that her sister weds her duke for a HEA on her part, she tended to over-think and miscalculate certain problems to make it happen.
There was a great deal of conniving on the part of the duke's brother to prevent the duke from marrying Georgiana's sister. There was just as much conniving on Georgiana's part to ensure that it did take place.
This book did a great deal of meandering and had more than its fair share of boring chatter. It tended to drone on and on with little to no romance. There really wasn't a great deal of chemistry between Hamish and Georgiana, nor was there a lot of passion either. The story was more focused on getting to Gretna Green to stop the wedding. It soon became monotonous and dreadfully boring. It didn't have the feel of a true love story.
The closer the story got to the ending, the more it appeared to speed up, almost like the author awoke from the meandering to realize that the story had gone nowhere for most of the book. Suddenly, everything was all lovey-dovey and romantic...except it really wasn't. While the drama was slow-paced, the angst was very high and the intrigue was somewhere in between. There was very little humor from start to finish.
I can't say I enjoyed this book, for it was all over the place and kept my head spinning, trying to figure out just what in the world was going on. Even the ending was a bit...well, curious would be a mild, but appropriate, word. I just didn't understand what the author intended the reader to get out of such a book. It definitely did not qualify to be amongst the Keeper for the Shelves, books.

Dear God, everyone in this story is infuriatingly stupid! They are way beyond TSTL. EVERYONE. The author doesn’t seem to concern herself with coherence throughout the book, people have things one moment they didn’t have a page before, and time has absolutely no meaning here. We’re told a lot about their journey, and I just wondered why we bothered with it. Because the little we’re shown is not conducive to a relationship, no, those parts we are just told happen.
Charlotte and Callum’s relationship is non-existent too, and at some point they just disappear and we know nothing of them. Their wedding was just a plot device, the excuse for the MC’s to meet. It’s like the author never intended for them to be together, so she didn’t even bother to give a reason for them to want to get married. Worse, the somewhat plausible reasons Hamish comes up with at the beginning of the story are all dispelled at some point. He doesn’t love her (nothing will convince me of the opposite), he’s not being blackmailed, then why on Earth would he want to marry this woman he barely speaks to? If he wanted (or needed) just any woman, why not marry the one he was actually betrothed to? If you are going to introduce something for the plot, at least make it make sense! And no, I’m not going to read the next book (which is Callum’s book), since these two make no sense and have absolutely no chemistry.
The descriptions are not very good, and most of the time they beat around the bush for absolutely no reason. And why must every article of clothing feel rough? Gloves, stays, chemises… they all are described as rough. I would think that people would want their clothes to be soft, especially underwear, but what do I know, right?
Finally, there is some quite racist stuff about Scots, and I didn't care for that.

My Thoughts:

I loved this newest book by Bianca Blythe. This first book in this new series stems from the previous series and is delightful from page one.

When Hamish receives a wedding invitation to his brother, the dukes wedding to the wrong lass he makes it his mission to stop the wedding. After all his older twin brother is already betrothed to another.
His mission to stop this wedding leads to a tale with hysterical by play between this hero and the heroine, sister to his brothers bride.

This humorous tale is one for my keeper shelf. I found it engaging from the first chapter.

I gave this book 4.75 of 5 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3.5 of 5 flames. There is only one intimate scene and it is mild.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the author to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Bianca Blythe is one of my favorite historical romance authors so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of this book. I loved this story, which had me laughing out loud, and I didn't want it to end. The dry wit of these characters, specifically Georgiana and Hamish, which bordered on sarcasm, was clever and understated. Hamish’s humor seemed tied to his belief in his superiority in matters related to logic while Georgiana’s seemed tied to her innate ability to see the absurdity in things.

Hamish, in regard to his twin Callum, observed, “Lights gleamed from the ground floor. Was his brother unaware that candles could be both lit and blown out?” At one point, during the first meeting of the families, there was a part that made me laugh so hard I had to put down my Kindle because I could no longer focus on the words. This scene was best summed up in the words of Mama, “Success is a virtue.” And I loved the thought that Giorgiana had: “She rather wished he were still sleeping. The problem with men who were awake was at some point they decided they wanted to speak, and she didn't know how best to respond to him.”

I could go on but I fear I would need to rewrite the entire book in order to highlight some of my favorite parts. By the time I had reached the end, there was only one question remaining. What was so suspicious about the impending marriage of Charlotte and Calum? Why were they both so reticent to discuss their feelings? As supporting characters, their story was not as important. Nevertheless, it did leave me curious. Perhaps there will be more…. Regardless, this book is still deserving of the five stars I've given it and I highly recommend reading it.

Callum Montgomery, Duke of Vernon, was eight minutes older than Hamish, but this one always lamented this.
Callum could be the holder of the family title, but it was Hamish who took care of all the finances of the duchy, including, in recent times, he saved all lands from bankruptcy.
Callum had only one responsibility. Only one: to marry Isla McIntyre, since her father had bought the Montgomery's mortgage and allowed the family to keep the castle IF Callum makes his daughter a duchess.

But it turns out that Callum went to London and was about to get married... with the daughter of a vicar.
An Englishwoman !!!

Determined to stop this madness, Hamish goes to London and commits even more madness.
He invades Miss Butterworth's room and offers money for her to break the engagement.

He just forgot to check which of the Misses he was talking to.

Georgiana was the oldest of the Butterworths.
Charlotte, young and beautiful, delighted Callum at first sight and they were in love.
When Georgiana meets Hamish in that strange situation, and discovers his plans to break her sister's happiness, she decides to disrupt Hamish in every possible way.

And while they fought on opposite sides, they both forgot to protect their own hearts.
Fun, romantic and with beautiful HEA.

Bianca Blythe is back with a new series that takes place in the same world as her Matchmaking for Wallflowers series.

Hamish knows an invite to his twin brother’s wedding is a mistake. When Hamish and his older twin brother, Callum, parents passed away, they fell under the guardianship of their nearest neighbor. The Earl paid off the mortgage of the brother’s ducal estate in exchange for his daughter hand in marriage to Callum. So, Callum can’t possibly be marrying a vicar’s daughter. Can he?

Georgiana Butterworth is taken by surprise when Hamish breaks into her room thinking she is her younger sister. While Hamish tries to bribe her to leave his brother and take his money, Georgiana is thinking up a plan of her own to save the couple.

Blythe takes us on an adventure from London to the Scottish highlands. While Hamish and Georgiana travel catch to the fleeing couple, they fight with fire and dream of desire. The couple that no one ever would imagine coming together, becomes the perfect match.

Don’t Tie the Knot is a fast paced, intriguing road to romance. A wonderful start to this new series that can go in so many directions. I excited for more from Bianca Blythe!

I received this book for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

A fun read Hamish & Georgiana are very likeable, they are attracted to each other even though they are at odds over Callum & Charlotte’s wedding. The story flowed well & kept my interest throughout. There were parts that ere improbable but didn’t detract from my enjoyment. I did however feel that the ending was rushed & I was left with unanswered questions about Callum & the estate.

I’ve adored Bianca Blythe’s Regency romance stories, so it’s no surprise that I was delighted to get my hands on Don't Tie the Knot, the first of her Wedding Trouble books. This novel is, quite simply, wonderfully romantic and superbly written. Yes, it’s a story whose broad outlines are similar to other stories but what counts is the execution - and this one was executed with perfection. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot and great cast of characters. I frankly adore Georgiana Butterworth and love watching her deal and develop her relationship with Lord Hamish Montgomery, and everything else that she comes across. The rest of the cast of characters is pretty amazing as well. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next Wedding Trouble book.

A light-hearted romance, Don't Tie the Knot is full of surprises, but unfortunately, a number of unanswered questions as well. However, in view of the fact that this book is part of a series, the queries running around in my mind will probably be answered at a later date. When Hamish finds out that his brother is getting married, but not to the lady to whom he is betrothed, he rushes off to London to prevent the marriage from taking place. After having thoroughly embarrassed himself, he discovers that the feisty young lady he thought was his brother's bride, is in fact her sister. Putting further blocks in the way of the marriage only results in creating more difficult circumstances and putting Georgiana's reputation at risk. The story is well written with plenty of humour, especially as Mrs Butterworth is one of the most chirpy mothers any girl could have. I did enjoy the book and had some good laugh out loud moments, although I would have liked to have some more answers. I received a copy of this book for free as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I was gifted a copy of this book. “Don’t Tie the Knot” is an absolutely delightful romp. It begins a little slow but very quickly picks up speed. I couldn’t put it down. Georgiana Butterworth’s life is turned upside down when a handsome Scotsman breaks into her bedroom late one night offering her money to call off her engagement to his brother the Duke. Only Georgiana isn’t engaged to the Duke but her sister Charlotte is. Hamish the handsome Scotsman has broken into the wrong room. “Everything about this man was scandalous, and he strode toward her. He directed Azurean eyes at her, and she shivered under his curious gaze. His loose cravat fluttered indecently in the wind, and his thin shirt hardly masked the man’s abundance of muscles.”
This was a great story with lots of humor and witty banter. Blythe hits a homerun.

Funny and Well Written!
What is it that captivates one so when there is a Scottish member of the aristocracy involved in a story? Is it their caring natures or perhaps that they have hard bodies and perfect physiques or even that they are just so good looking that they are to die for? Or maybe they are rakes?
In all honesty, I really don't know what it is - perhaps it's just a wonderful mixture of all of this and most importantly a great and well written story involving one or more of them.
Whatever it really is, this story certainly held my attention and I loved every moment of it from the initial mistaken identity to the messed up proposal.
It was great and thoroughly entertaining!
I read this story as part of an Advance Reader Copy of this series' boxset and the review above is given voluntarily and is unbiased.
