There was nothing.
No feeling.
No numbness.
No pain.
That could describe.

He went to find the truth.
And she stole me.
I hope she was worth it.

There was nothing.
No words.
No fists.
No problems.
I’m never good enough.

I hope this hell is worth it.
Because she isn’t and neither am I.
But he damn sure is.

“Good enough forever."

What just happened? And most importantly, where do I go from there? I've been staring at my screen for a while now, biting my nails (and almost rocking in shock!!!). KRS struck hard with this second installment of her She/He Duet.

The hellish journey continues in He, with a change of perspective since we now get to live (yes, live) the story from both Nat and Joe's points of view.

Natalie is undoubtedly an interesting character. What a feeling it was to experience her strength, her determination beyond her damaged and broken soul. She showed she knew how to adapt in order to survive. Her intelligence proved to be her greatest weapon when facing her family's depravity.
Joe's obsession and love for his wife seized me. He tried, he gave everything he had and everything he is in order to save her. Whatever it takes. And I mean it: WHATEVER. (*screams*)
"I can’t let her go; I won’t. I will chase her down until we die or come together because no other possibility presents itself."

Are they a perfect couple? Certainly not but they are perfectly imperfect and that makes them real. The issues run deep but they are willing to fight nonetheless and at all cost.
"We will sink, or we will swim, but we will do it together.

I'll never forget the palpable intensity of He. The storyline gripped me to no end, right from the first page, and until the very last word. The author immersed me into an emotional turmoil I rarely felt. The psychological aspect was amazingly handled, I could feel in my belly the maddening stress, the doubts, and the trust issues. Between present and past scenes, the head games and the devastating situations shattered my mind. They broke my heart. They revolted me. Oh... did the rage boil in my veins! I screamed at the atrocities they had to endure, I took breathers when the tension skyrocketed.

Twisted, intricate, haunting, He slowly revealed the amazing bigger picture I love in Mrs Samuels' work. Well done, lady!

"This is over. My words. My fists. My problems.

4,5 'Searching for my lost sanity' stars

After reading She I thought I was prepared for He. Well, that was a big NO.
I guess, review to come when I will collect my lost sanity. If ever.
Also, I think I need a new shelf. Something like 'moni-needs-therapy-asap'.

He thinks I am a victim because he doesn’t know what a survivor looks like.

Let's say that I come back to my sense enough to write a review. Or let's pretend, at least. Anyway, as I said, I thought I was prepared for what will happen in book 2 but a thing or two caught me completely by surprise nevertheless. I guess, that human heinousness and evilness knows no boundaries. He is undoubtedly one of these books that make you be ashamed of being human.

As with the first book, I'm still advising to dive into this one blind as well. So, I will try to reveal as little as possible about the plot. The story picks up when the first book finished. With Joe trying to avenge "Nat's death". The first couple of chapters are in Joe's POV and the rest of the book is mostly Nat's POVs.

When I was reading She, I couldn't quite decide what to think about Natalie. Ok, I admit I couldn't quite decide about anything or anyone, really. And like I was actually wrong about the majority of things, I was also wrong about Nat. Seeing what has happened to her through her eyes and her feelings was extremely different and even more horrendous. And observing these things from another perspective I also realized how strong she has been. In the first book, she seemed such a meek character (not that I had any right to blame her) but still. I was sure she's beyond being able to fix. However, in this book, she gets the chance to show everyone (reader included) that she can be one motherfucking bitch (her words). She was strong, even when she was weak because, no matter what, she didn't give up.

And the devil will do it for me because he wants me to rule his hell. I am his Queen; he is my King.

This book hasn't just provided a different insight into Nat's character but also on Natalie and Joseph's relationship. They didn't exactly convince me as a couple in She. Too many secrets between them, too many lies. However, they proved me wrong here. They went to hell - beyond hell - and back again for each other and I finally started to feel the emotions they had for one another.

“Whatever you need, I want to be. Whatever you want, I need to be. I don't want to live this life without you. Your hell is my heaven.”
“Where is your hell?”
His face turns serious as his movement stops. “Hell is anywhere without you.”
“… And if I get lost?”
“I will find you,” he answers hastily.

There were some things I wanted for them to be explained more. Like the Cole situation, which was a little unclear, and the ending was tied up too quickly. I mean, there's this 'thing' that it's literally dealt with in the last chapter. Yes, in the last fucking chapter. And with no epilogue. So, talking about this book not letting you breathe. It's holding you for the throat until the last sentence.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Sal in the other books. He's a very intriguing character and I want to know more everything about him. I'm also wondering if we'll see Zoe again.

“Is he always that crazy?”
With a chuckle, Randy says, “That was tame. Just wait.”

P.S. This is my 200th review!! I can't believe I've written more than a hundred reviews this year.

I thought I fell down the rabbit hole with She and I knew going into the finale that it wasn't going to be any prettier and probably harder, but instead of falling further down the rabbit hole, I ended up stuck in the abyss. If She was dark, unspeakable and majorly f*cked, then He was the height of insanity, depravity and all out 'can it get any sicker'.

He is finally told from not only Joe's POV but finally we also get Nat's and what a filthy wealth of information that brings into the picture. It starts with Joe as a man on a mission for his dead wife, ready to avenge and digging up all sorts of information that starts to fill in the picture. BUT it is with Nat's POV and her absolutely horrific situation that the insanity really hits home full force. Joe might have been right that Natalie is broken but he never had a clue how insanely smart and together she was in another way completely. As she says at the height of captivity, back in her family's sick hands and their ever expanding empire:

"I am one tough motherfucking bitch. I am not weak. I am not easily broken."

So much shit goes down in this book that it makes the first one seem pale in comparison. Having access to Nat's mind and her narrative truly leaves you in a place ready to run and purge. Every little twisted, evil, unthinkable detail is filled in and the secrets of the Blum family are more than anyone ever knew. When Joe is finally 'reunited' and dragged into the picture, it becomes a dizzying haze of a pure but twisted love in a sickly twisted world where two people fight to survive, trust, remember to keep on loving and do the unthinkable in order to survive and protect the other.

Outside of that, I have nothing more to add to the story. I will say that it was a hard read solely based on content and the absolute craziness that could drive a person insane, for insanity does rule in this book along with pure evil. I was shocked, sickened, pissed, ready to become a murderer myself but I was also so very deeply invested in both Joe and Natalie and a love that had all the potential to heal the absolutely unhealable.

This book is NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. The trigger labels are definitely there for a damn good reason and believe me, it delves into the height of depravity. But, at the same time, there is light contained within, there is hope to be found. There is a chance for healing and a time for vengeance and vindication.

I was completely swept up in a tornado and left spinning and spinning and spinning. But in the end, it was so worth the journey. I cannot think of anything better than Love trumping All. Including being the very salve that heals.

4**** Good for forever stars!

Ok well I don't even know where to start. First let me say that She had triggers and He is no different. This book was seriously messed up, twisted, sick, good, heartwarming, sexy, and a lot more words!! Natalie is a very strong heroine if you take everything she has been through and she isn't in the nut house. Joe ...wooo when he loves he loves with everything! He was Natalie s rock and boy did she need one! Once again Sal makes an appearance, I can't wait to find out more about him! Kailee thank you for the gift and once again you have me rambling and basically speechless!!!

In He we get the dual perspective of both Joe & Natalie…… boy what a ride it is. Crawling into Natalie’s twisted mind is a trip worth taking & helps to better understand just how badly she has been abused. Joe is hallow inside thinking Natalie died in the explosion & wanting revenge for her loss. Natalie during her captivity struggles with her not being worthy of Joe but believe Joe was worth everything she has endured. It is brilliant tale of lost love & the need for redemption.

The conclusion to the She/He Duet is both soul searching & full of raw emotion. This book takes you on a journey to the depths of depravity through the undying love shared between Joe & Natalie. Please heed Ms. Reese Samuels’ warning in the beginning of her books, they are about BDSM & may have triggers for some.

* You must read She before He in order to understand the characters and events of the story.*
After reading She, I anxiously waited for this stunning and epic continuation of Natalie's and Joe's story here in He, book two, of the duet. I can honestly say that I was not prepared for how it panned out. Their story is extremely emotional, dark and cruelly wicked. It will make your heart break into little pieces as you feel all of their pain and experience all that they endured. However, there is brightness and light and good as well. Their story is also of an immensely beautiful love with unfathomable determination and strength of perseverance that only Natalie and Joe themselves can have for each other. I suggest that the reader block out a good portion of your day/evening/weekend as once you read page one, you'll be drawn into the world of Natalie and Joe and won't want to stop reading until the last page has been read.

Finally this book is here. I was eagerly waiting for it but it looked like time refused to move on. Damn you time...
This only happened because this author is freaking amazing and this duet started perfectly.
Have you read any books from Kailee Reese Samuels? If you have you know why I'm saying this but if you haven't you really should. Her writing is simple yet powerful, pretty detailed, full of meaning, some suspense, pain and darkness. Just give her a try and see for yourself.
He is her latest release and it's the final book from the She/He duet. But I need to tell you something. This book is not a standalone therefor you should read She first and then grab this one.
This book continues to explore Natalie and Joe's story and what a story this was...
I can't say how this story planed out without spoiling so I'm going to shut it. The only thing that I can say is that this book is not for the weak of heart.
I'm still dealing with all that had happened and the only word that crosses my mind is blackness. It was a pleasure to read this book but I was stunned, hurt, afraid, mad, wild... So many adjectives to describe how I felt and I'm still shaking.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and intense. The darkness was there as well as hope or even love but each struggle, each battle left me thinking that things would get so much worse. The suffering, the pain that each character endured was insane and I thought they would brake.
I'm used to read books from this lady but this book was so much more. It's a masterpiece, that's for sure and everyone should give it a go.
Oh Kailee are you trying to kill me? Or drive me insane? Guess what? You almost got it. I'm still shaking. Damn...

I feel like I'm always on my soapbox, but seriously, there are reviews out there that take stars off of the rating because they truly ignore reading order, so I'll start out by saying that He is the second book in the She/He A Duet. SO GUESS WHAT?! YOU MUST READ She (Book 1) FIRST! (All of you who understand the importance of reading order just disregard.) Anyway, now that I climbed down from said soapbox, I'll get on with it. There's absolutely no reason for me to even try to go into any detail because 1. I don't have any sort of creative talent, and 2. Kailee Reese Samuels is so originally brilliant that I couldn't try to box her correctly into a neat review anyway nor do I want to. So, let me try my hand at some of my feelings. This is Joe & Natalie's story told from each POVs so you get all the nitty gritty. It's not a hearts & candy romance, no it's raw & messy & hard to read, but it's realistic in my opinion. It's one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride that has me not knowing my a** from a hole in the ground to be honest, but that's the beauty of Ms. Samuels' writing. I never know what I'm going to get, but she keeps me on my toes & thinking, so I will continue to HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Make sure you read She as this is book one of The She/He duet. After reading She I couldn’t wait to read He. I wasn’t disappointed. Yet again Kailee exceeded my expectations.

He/She is Joe and Natalie’s story. Their story isn’t an easy read but it’s a story that needs to be told. Their story has both darkness and lightness in it. I felt as if I was on an emotional rollercoaster while reading this duet.

This book isn’t for the faint at heart. I absolutely loved it and it’s now become my favourite series from this author.
Kailee has her own unique way of writing and i can’t wait to see what she’s going to read next. I loved it.

You have to read SHE before you can read HE.

I love Kailee. You get a normal book cover, you get a blurb that gives you just enough to wet your whistle. Then you open your book or kindle and you have totally blown the hell away.

He brings you right where She leaves you. This is a dark and twisted story of love and loss. But man what a ride it is. The emotions you will feel is so worth the read. I don't want to give anything away. That is why Kailee writes the blurbs she does.

This anxiously awaited book did not disappoint. You truly need to read “She” before “He” to be sure to understand the intricacies of this story. The lives of Joe and Natalie are laid before us in all it’s heinous ugliness. This beautifully twisted journey of two lives intertwined around a cruel, decadent, licentious lifecycle that drags them into a darkness that will completely change them. The fact that a “Lightness” still can be found within not only their relationship but in themselves as well is surprising given what they have had to live through.
Having read other books by this author, I found to my delight the interlacing of other characters from other stories, giving a lot more depth to all characters involved. I loved how this author was able to drag me into this story and made me feel the emotions surrounding these incredible characters.
A tissue twister to be sure, I am sure these two are far from over, but I enjoyed how the author kept me enthralled with the story and her characters. Never expected many of the surprises that erupted within the progress of this monumental passage through these characters lives.

I like to do reviews that will give the readers a thought about what the book is about, but this Duet series... I am sorry... You are going to have to do this for yourself readers.

If you are someone that loves books that challenge you, changes your mindset, a bit dark and twisted and totally blows your mind, then this duet is for you.
Like the saying goes, to kill monsters you have to become one yourself, and that is exactly what Joe did to protect Natalie.
Joe becomes her saviour, taking her out of her dark place to actually make her believe she can overcome what happened to her.
In this conclusion I think everything you read from the start will become more clearer but also have you guessing if this couple will be able to overcome everything or will it just be too much for both of them.

I really do have to raise my hat and glass to Kailee Reese Samuels - she has no fear when it comes to tackling the hard subjects and having you crave more of them. As part of a duet, He was nothing like She.

Where the first instalment gave you all the butterflies and pink ribbons of what falling in love is like, the obsession, the craziness in wanting to be around this person 24/7 and especially, feeling as though your life purpose is to make them feel whole again when they've been broken over and over again, He, was the complete opposite. It was the destruction of loss. The grief so strong that you simply can't bring yourself to care enough to keep going. Your life goal now? Retribution for what was cruelly taken away.

Here's the kicker: grief. How do you deal with it? How do you find the will to keep living when what you lived for is no longer there? That part tore me to pieces. It was raw. Real. And i felt myself get angry more than once for the happiness that i found in the first book that was no longer there. And for what? Pettiness.

Huge congrats to this author for raising this subject: when is pettiness enough? How do you find a new purpose? And especially, how do you let go? I wish there was so much more to Natalie and Joey because let's face it - we all wish we had this all consuming love in our own lives like they did and lived every moment as though it was their first.

This is defiantly one of KRS's best books. When we left off with She, we were introduced to Natalie and Joe. Natalie had so many deep, dark secrets Joe didn't even scratch the surface. Now we continue with He. There are so many feelings and heartbreak Joe and Natalie endure. Can he save her from herself and family and make her believe she's his queen? Does Natalie feel worthy of Joe's love? You won't want to miss this book!

I eagerly anticipated the sequel to ‘She’ and ‘He’ lived up to my expectations. Once again this book is beautifully written often sounding like poetry. It’s a dark complicated intoxicating read. You need to read ‘She’ before you dare dip into the maelstrom of this follow up. It’s a roller coaster of emotions, complete with messed up characters, depravity beyond your wildest dreams. However in the darkness lurks a twisted pure love story, in the ashes of depravity rises a Phoenix of hope.
‘I will become the moon for you’......because I will never let you be in the shadows’
It’s a difficult, challenging read but well worth it

This series is the best books this author has written hands down! ... First of all you have to read She before this book. He continues exactly where She left off and wow I’m blown away. Every page makes your heart skip a beat and I was dying to know what happens next. I bit all my nails off, paced and even yelled out loud while reading this story! Natalie how strong this woman truly is amazes me. Then Joe we see this determination through his eyes and the emotions had me a crying mess. No spoilers here just keep a open mind and open heart to Natalie and Joe’s story. Dark, gritty, very intense but in the end light and love and strength always wins. 5/5 stars if I could rate this series the way I want it would be 10 stars

“He” is an incredible Book. It’s dark, twisted and intense, it’s a story that captivates the reader, it’s emotional and exhausting, but impossible to put down.

Natalie was a an abused women, mentally, physically and sexually. Joe was to be her saviour, he’s now left searching for proof of her tormentors guilt.

Many secrets are revealed and Joe’s love for Nat is strengthened.
I loved this amazing duet.

“I will make them scurry out from beneath the surface and take sight of all the ugly. The light will burn them and leave nothing but ash.”

Holy hell I need a moment to collect my thoughts, my heart, my feelings, and my breath. Going into this book I needed answers. Will everyone make it out okay, will everyone be punished, and most of all, how will it end? We are given Natalie and Joey’s dark, twisted and at times beautiful journey in HE.

“We still as every pain and pleasure she has ever known become mine to keep, and I become the one to carry her burdens and enjoy her bliss.”

The horrors that Natalie has had to endure are beyond horrible but she is brave, tough and I would go as far to say that she is indestructible. I’ve been waiting to get inside her head and I loved her voice. Joe is out for blood. I fell in love with him even more in this one. He definitely proved, without a doubt, he is not a weakling. Both characters grow and become stronger and fiercer.

“I won’t suppress my evil as I let the madman inside of me take hold. And be one very unkind motherfucker.”

This book, this duet had me in knots. I have never read anything quite like it before. The first book was dark but this one is pitch black. Some parts were painful to read but Joey and Natalie’s love shines through the darkness and is beautiful, strong and unconditional.

“I’m the sun and wind and rain—I’m going to watch you grow into a marvelous masterpiece.”

KRS always challenges and pushes my boundaries until I’m on the edge grasping for more. I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll just say that I absolutely love when authors cross over and intertwine characters within a new book. I couldn’t be happier with the ending and the last chapter actually made me giddy. Yes, giddy!! If you crave the dark I highly recommend this duet.

“Our island will surface from the waters in our rebirth. I must believe. I must have faith.”

description
Wow, continued….

This is the continuation of Natalie and Joe’s story started in She. Do not continue unless you have read the first book because nothing will prepare you for this, seriously nothing could, but it might help…

I hope that didn’t sound negative because it wasn’t meant to. This series has been an eye-opener as dark romance has never read or felt like this for me before. I talked about layers and mystery in my review of the first instalment and that theme continues with sought after answers and a tone that reads with a more hopeful vibe.

I wouldn’t call their story bleak but deep and disturbing for sure. There wasn’t a lot to be happy about, despite the emotions and love between the main characters. Through it all though - through the loss, discovery and uncertainty that plagued their relationship - they refused to give up. To give in. There is a reality to the telling that had me work through my issues with the delivery. Their story was unique and heartfelt, with closure that made their rocky road worthwhile.

This new to me author certainly grabbed my attention and I look forward to more.

This is the rest of Natalie and Joe’s story. The first book She is a must read before this one.
I absolutely loved this book!
Natalie,my poor Natalie I love you!
For your strength, for her brains, for not letting ANY ONE break you!
For still being able to love and trust. For being able to give when everyone around only ever took.
Joe was also a strong young man. He’s love and loyalty to Natalie was something to behold.
With all he saw and went through his love never wavered.
He would burn down the world around him for his Natalie.
Their lovestory isn’t typical,it isn’t dates and bright smiles.
It isn’t sunshine and rainbows.
It’s filled with darkness, evil, wickness and a network of perverted depraved people.
I loved their story. I loved their determination. I loved that they never gave up even knowing that the consequences would be dire.
The writing is perfect for this story.
The words are impactful and no beating around the bush.
The story and plot are dark, chilling and scary.
It’s intense from beginning to end.
It sent chills up and down my body numerous times.
It kept my heart beating so fast,I thought it would either explode or stop throughout the book.
It’s the darkest book I’ve read to date.
I was riveted and stunned with how evil and wicked people can be.
This duet especially He is not for the faint of heart.
This book deals with things that happen in and do happen real life, the author doesn’t sugarcoat anything. It’s told with all the ugliness and truthfulness because that’s the way this vile subject needs to be told. The way it’s presented is needed to have the maximum effect and impact.
*Please don’t get this book then give it a low rating because “it’s too dark” that’s not fair to the author nor to the book.

Wow what an ending to a decidedly dark and powerful story! This book picks up where She left off... with Nat a prisoner and Joe in hell. We learn a lot more about the sickness and cruelty that Nat endured while growing up in a horrific family environment. The strength and courage Nat shows to keep surviving in such a depraved world is nothing short of a miracle... with the deep connection she shares with Jo and using his love, Nat not only survived but she fought to get her life back! It was a disturbing but enlightening journey with so many twists and turns... a truly scary roller coaster ride from hell back into the light.

Finishing off book 2 of this duet was great! I really enjoyed reading both of them. I like that we got more of both perspectives in Book 2. Natalie is far beyond broken, destroyed, damaged and Joe will do what he can to fix her. He needs her. Their issues are serious but they fight through it. SO many intense moments in this duet, you wont wanna put it down. A big emotional dark roller coaster for sure!!

Sometimes to find and take down a monster, you need to become one. That is exactly what Joe does for Natalie in the conclusion to the She/He Duet. This series is not for the faint of heart, because the life that Natalie has had to endure at the hands of her incestuous and tortuous family, is more than most people would ever encounter. So when they've decided they have had enough of Natalie belonging to Joe, they take her back to where they feel she truly belongs, with them.
Her sister Heidi is out of her mind, and she is taking it out on Natalie, only this time, Joe is there, and must endure as well. Though perhaps endure isn't the right word, because if he doesn't fight, neither of them are getting out alive.
He is intense, so much more so than She, but it needs to be because Natalie is right back in the clutches of her family. The family she managed to avoid in She. It's a much faster paced read because you need to keep reading, to find out if they make it. Amidst all the horrible and vile things going on, there is love. A love that cannot be destroyed by a family intent on ripping it apart, a love that will survive the test of time. As Natalie puts it in the book "His words don't just wrap me in a warm blanket; he is the blanket shrouding and covering me with all that he can."
He is wonderfully done and makes a great addition to the ever-growing, superb collection of books authored by Samuels.

Reviewed on behalf of Amo's book corner.

YOU MUST READ SHE BEFORE YOU READ HE. PART OF A DUET.

Wow is all I can about this duet He follows right where She left off. He/She must be read one after another to get the full amazing story.

So much happens in these two books that they take you on a journey of darkness and light in a way a book as never done with me before. What Natalie has had to go through with her past and present is heartbreaking and Joe her knight in shining armour who is with her the whole way. There are some more twists and turns and dark secrets that come out during this book. It's not for the faint of heart but it pivotal to the story.

This book/story will trigger some emotions. But I know i couldn't put this book down like all of Kailee's books to be honest. This book brings out raw emotion and feelings that I did shed a fair few tears reading both books.

Kailee has done it again with a cracker of a duet.
