When Madison Harte inherits a football team with three hot players who all want her, there’s one when it comes to America’s favorite sport, she’s clueless.

I have the worst luck. Failed tech startup? Check. Cheating ex-boyfriend? Check. No idea what to do next? Check.

Then my Uncle Dusty passes away and leaves a whole football team to me. Never mind that I’ve never even seen a game. Who has time for that, right?

But I can sell the team and turn my life around, so I fly from San Francisco to Birmingham, Alabama, where I find a whole new level of football obsession—and start to develop a fascination of my own. Mostly with the three players who are very, very interested in me.

I never expected to find a team of my own. Or that there would be so many obstacles in our way.

Luckily, Madison won’t have to choose just one man in this contemporary reverse harem where Friday Night Lights and Bridget Jones collide and where—hallelujah—it’s still raining men.

Being a transplant to the beautiful state of Alabama, I understood the issues Madison was facing. This book is full of football (you don't have to understand the game), food (oh, those chicken wings!), and fantastically fit footballers (need I say more?)

If you love football, grab this book. I'm a huge fan of the game and enjoyed reading this fun filled book. Who wouldn't want to inherit a football team and fall for three of the players?
It was well written, parts made me laugh, others parts I raised an eyebrow. I can't wait to start the next book Second and Five!

I really wanted to like this but .....

I really wanted to like this but .....
I really hate having to start a review with those words, because : one ) even though Madison started off kinda goofy and not the most relatable to me she was really funny at times and I had hopes of her growing on me and though she seemed rather flaky I’d hoped she’d be fun enough to balance ball out...
Balance ? Only if balance is with her half of the see saw is up in the air and she does get lost on the way to the park....
Seriously for me Madison went from sweet but a tad clueless and a touch flaky ( biscuits and pastries have noting on her) to down right ditzy and almost classically TSTL at times..... and by the end of the book I was confused how this story had both good reviews and how this was really called a RH even in the slightest .....
Madison as you know inherits a football team in the Deep South, where as anyone knows, especially those of us who live here football 🏈 can be like a religion to ppl down here....
I have lived here in the south most all my life and while I do believe in God .... I don’t believe in football 🏈, I know it exists but we’ve happily existed w/out each other all my life and that’s just fine w/me.... I’m happily a football 🏈 agnostic I guess ;) but even saying that I’m a football genius when it comes to knowledge of Th sport compared to our h.....
Like a comedian nice said ,” You don’t have to be dumb to be stupid.” And Madison was the living embodiment f that statement through out this whole book....
Our clueless wonder who supposedly could be a jeopardy winner if all the categories were all nerdy themed things or Japanese anime but anything out side of that and Madison barely acted like she had the sense to come in out of the rain...
Seriously....
Anyway, she gets into Birmingham briefly interacts w/a very sexy sounding but sweet African American man who helps her with her luggage and the later gets drunk with him at her hotel bar and sleeps w/him abs of course wakes up clueless and kicks him to the curb because she’s feeling dumb abs regretful... I was kinda disgusted by her behavior and felt bad for the guy... really really dumb behavior on her part as far as I’m concerned..., in a new town less than a day and getting drunk and sleeping w/a stranger ? Abs then getting upset w/him about it ? Seriously ?
There is not emotional growth or connections here, she meets the rest of the team the next night and (deep sigh and eye roll) repeats her mistake in getting drunk on,y this time it’s an angry and poorly worded email to the d bag of a coach who’s been soo nasty to her...
Madison doesn’t try to get to know anyone and no one really tried to get to know her, after maybe 10 minutes and some homemade flash cards she’s wanting a sweet old southern guy and a couple of hours and two conversations she’s wanting a guy who sounds Asian American w/ a name like Rodney Nguyen ,she barely knows either and we aren’t shown her spending any real time with either but she still decides she wants them and brings it to Andre shortly after some rather uninteresting sex in a chair after a game loss....
you know like you do,barely know a guy, second time your having sex with him, first time you’ll remember because your sober this time and your wanting him to be ok with you wanting two other guys.... two guys you barely even know and have spent little to no time w/...... ooooooooooo kay....
That makes perfect sense.... I mean I’m not for lying or cheating but maybe you should first get to to know them first and know they want you and vice versa and maybe say go one a few dates before you start imagining yourself “having three men”, when you’ve barely started some thing w/one of them....
Soo NOT a RH... Madison doesn’t try to get to know these men ,and sane in return .... they don’t even ask her what she was doing before she ended up in Alabama or anything ....
Her life as a computer nerd and supposedly owning a tech start up never comes up once.... but honestly w/her I’m a team owner I can do what I want, like just up and fire a jerk coach w/out a clue on how to replace him first , who would believe she was smart enough to start a tech company ? I sure as heck wouldn’t ... I don’t .... very quickly Madison’s cluelessness got old, she really just ran around almost purposely confused, bordering just plain dumb at times, or drinking ( way too much drinking for a woman who starts off the book showing both us and herself how poorly she handles her liquor ) or supposedly running in and out of Andre’s room every night....
This was almost purposelessly dumb/confused woman does football 🏈 , while she drinks and hopes for the best and calls men hers w/out really spending any time w/them....
Three stars for the effort but really just a bit how mess like the heroine ...
P.s this really needed the guys p.o.v ‘s in this at least a few times, might not have saved it but would have helped...

This was a good read, Madison Harte who knows absolutely nothing about football inherits a down and out professional football team in Alabama, the Yellowhammers. She ventures to Birmingham to take it all in and meets 'a captain' in her hotel bar that becomes more then she bargains for. She learns and starts to love being the owner. Go Hammers!!!

Going in to this book I may have been half decided to like it. Now let me explain... I can't usually get into the RH genre unless it has some sort of paranormal connection to it. "Normal" people being with three people or more throws me off. That being said these authors have NEVER disappointed me before. So I thought why not? I didn't have a current book going.

You may not have noticed but this is the beginning of a new series. When that happens authors don't generally flesh absolutely everything out. Like perhaps getting to know all three guys equally. Maybe just maybe Maids time will be focused on Rodney or Clancy (yep that made me giggle) next like it was Adrian this time. Also loved how they met. Not all romances are instant and I rather like the slow build up we got in this book. I'm very excited for book two and to see where it goes...

I loved this fun story. I don't know much more about football than Madison, but I still really enjoyed this story. It's been fun following her as she's been trying to figure everything out. Madison is sweet but clueless when it comes to understanding how the world of sports works but I love her sass when she remembers she's got a backbone. Coach Mack is one character that I truly hate and he's a horrible representation of the south. Clancy is the all around perfect southern gentlemen and hot too boot. Then you've got Rodney the usual jock who could probably be sweet of you give him time. And last you have Andre who is a southern gentleman from the north. I love the clash of all these characters and it makes for one entertaining book that I can't wait for it to continue into book two. I really do hope that Madison changes her mind though and ends up not selling her team.

This is First and Ten, book one of a new series written by Erin Hayes and Margo Bond Collins. Madison is going through a difficult time when her uncle passes away and wills her a professional football team....live men....NOT in California...NOPE! In Alabama! She has no interest in football and heads to meet her new team so she can sell it and get the large amount of money that the team appraises for. Things may not be so clear after she arrives to meet the team and has an instant reaction to three of the players. Oh wait! Let’s not forget her first drunken night in town! Lol. She forgot most of it, so why can’t we? I enjoyed the book and I will be reading book 2 as soon as it comes out!

Go Hammers lol

I'm a War Eagle Fan but I just fell in love with the Hammers. I love the way the authors made Madison an idiot about anything football. It made the book more funny. I loved the Tide Pods and Eagle Scout lines a lot. Andre Rodney and Clancy were awesome heros and I can't wait to read more about their relationship growing with Madison and also their team winning more because of her. I really liked Ashley and Winston. I also was really happy when Madison fired Mack. All in all this book rocks. Go Hammers. And War Eagles

Delightful Read 3.5⭐️
This was a fun and light read. It was different from the other books I’ve read from these authors.
Madison wasn’t my favorite as far as leading ladies go but she grew on me as I read more of the story. With a little more growth and development I can see myself liking her more.
I liked Andre, Clancy and Rodney. I wish there had been more back story for each of them. I’m hoping in the next book we’ll get to know them better.
Overall I thought the story was funny and I enjoyed it. I look forward to reading the book and seeing how the story develops.

Oh man.

This book was okay but to be honest the main character was super annoying. The whole first three chapters was just her being exceptionally naive and almost childlike. She had no idea what basic words means and even though she kept saying she was a strong and capable woman, she was insecure and literally every opportunity. She has no poker pace and blurts out anything she is thinking. Its incredibly annoying. I found myself cringing through the first half of the book. How can one person be so oblivious to the world around her?

Madison seemed flaky and irresponsible but I came around to her, especially as she put more effort into the team. I completely relate to Madison and her lack of football knowledge. There were quite a few humorous parts, I laughed out loud with her team name mix ups.
I am really looking forward to the next. I'm curious to see how things go for the tea, with Madison and her men, and how Jacob will come in.

Go Yellowhammers

This was such a different take on football ownership and reverse harems. It was invigorating and spoke to woman power but also the way that women are viewed in the south. There’s a lot of current society thrown in with a fantastic book on inheriting something you know nothing about and making the best out of a sticky situation.

Highly recommend and can’t wait for book 2

What a fun story, can't wait for more

Madison inherits a professional football team from her quirky uncle and the fun begins. She knows absolutely nothing about football. I don't want to say anything more about the story line as I'll be giving things away. Anyone would enjoy this book whether you know football or not. I can t wait for the next book in the series.

Don’t bother

I couldn’t even come close to finishing this book it was so awful! This author made the lead character appear so dumb & stupid I immediately stopped reading & cleared it from my reader. Please, women aren’t as dumb as she makes them when it comes to football. What a waste of my time!

Football for idiots!

I hate football. I have never been able to sit through a whole game without falling asleep. But I loved this book. Madison is exactly like me in her football ignorance. But she comes to love her team and gives her all to fixing it. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Not a RH as promised in the books description. Cute at times and liked the team finally winning but Madison was seriously TSTL most of the book. Messy and not really fleshed out even though thats what i have mostly encountered in short RH’s. I enjoyed reading it but it didn’t satisfy. Kind of ended abruptly.

Great quick read

This was a great short story. In it, the main character inherits a football team who have never won a game...the problem with that being she knows absolutely nothing about football. Then throw in a jerk of a coach and three team members vying for her affection and you have a bit of the story. Want to know more, then pick up a copy. I read in a few hours.

Who wouldn't like a whole football team at their beck and call?lol .Madison has inherited her very own. Madison may be clueless about football but she knows what she wants and that is , encouraging the team in more ways than one to start winning.
A fun read set in the deep South. Can't wait to see how things turn out.

I had high hopes for this book but it was honestly one of the worst books I’ve ever read. The protagonists stupidity was mind numbing..the love interests were predictable and the whole thing was just a mess of cliches and cringe worthy moments. It is a very amateur read as well. Don’t bother.
