As with all of her books, Krista Street grabs you and pulls you immediately into Division 5. There are plot twists, emotional roller coasters, and action galore. At the same time, Krista explores emotions, delves into relationships, good and bad, and she brings up ethical and moral issues we face every day. Her characters are well-rounded with good traits, as well as flaws, foibles, and insecurities. And, yes, hope, as they must deal with and try to overcome biases and prejudices and fears of others, and those of their own. They must look into themselves to find where each of them fits and what their future holds.

I truly enjoyed the Makanza Series each book, each chapter building on the ones before, leading to the next until the very final page.

I received a free ecopy of Division 5, Book 4 of Krista Street's Makanza series from the author. She did not request, nor did I promise a good review. The opinions expressed are mine and ones I truly hold. That said, I would like to thank Krista for letting me be a part of her reader group. I will be following her in the future.

I cannot say enough how much I loved this series. I binge read the entire thing in a week which is not something that happens frequently for me. The story was heartbreaking, gut wrenching and poignant. I found myself so mad at the characters (and author) on numerous occasions, but that's the sure sign you're invested in the story. With twists and turns, the author keeps you at the edge of your seat the entire series. Every time you think everything is going to be okay, it's not. At the core of this series is the love story and it is beautifully done and also exasperating at times! It was a thrilling rollercoaster ride and I'm sad that it's over but what a great ending!

Beautifully written. Gah, I hate that the series is over and this last book was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. From waves of happiness, to sadness. Just like the prior books this book and the gang captured my heart and attention from the beginning. I absolutely love Meghan and Davin. I was honestly shocked by some things in this book but won’t say more as to avoid spoilers. Just pick up this series. You won’t regret it. The author does a fabulous job world building and you will love all of the characters except for the bad apples.
I hope that one day the author will revisit this world to see how they are doing.
I recommend the audible-book. The narrator is fabulous and I thoroughly enjoyed listening. She brings the the book to another level.

A fantastic end to the series!

In this final book we see Meghan battle through challenges both alike and unlike what we've seen her push through before. Her character, as well as others, continues to grow and persevere! There are moments where you will laugh. There are moments where you will be left speechless. This book is a ride of emotions that wraps this series up beautifully

Division 5 is a great way to end this series or is it? I appreciated the continued bias and how so many battle to eliminate it. You see this so much today still. I cannot really blame the Kazzies for not trusting the many of the scientists. Whether you have a job to do or not you are still morally responsible for what you do to others.
Krista makes us question how we are really doing in our quest towards equality and can it ever really be achieved. How many of us would be open to the Kazzies knowing that the disease they carry killed so many, including those we loved? How many would try to welcome them only to unintentionally cross the street or avoid them when it really came down to it?
I do question what will happen in the future for Davin and Meghan in their lives. What will happen to the next generation? This is what I ask myself everyday as well when I look at my son's future and the future generations of the world. Just as in our lives why must the innocent die before true change takes place?
Enough of my soap box. Krista gives us so much to think about in this installment. Her writing continues to elaborate on the lives of so many as well as offer possible solutions (the good, the bad, and the ugly). I do wonder what Meghan and the others will do with the new world. Will those who were responsible for so much wrong and death really be held accountable?
The love story between Meghan and Davin is phenomenal. The strength they both have is what we all want. Davin shows that his "change" of speed and strength is what his personality was like anyway. Did the disease amplify what their character or how their mind felt anyway? Did Dorothy constantly remain heavy because she always worried about how she looked? Was Sara able to connect with others telepathically because she was already so empathetic? Look at how fast Davin was to jump to conclusions and react. Look at how strong his love, loyalty, and determination was throughout the book. Davin was as intense as his newfound powers. I wonder what my change would be? How about you?
While I loved the book I will miss Meghan and the Kazzies.
I received a free copy of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was my least favorite of the series.

I was not a fan of how Meghan reacted towards Davin in the beginning. A girl from his past shows up so instead of actually talking to him like an adult, you run away and ignore him while making up all of these scenarios in your head??? It made me not like Meghan so much.

Also, how many times can one person be attacked, apparently like 10 different times. There was also the return of seeing emotions in someone's irises...what?

How is that even possible. Irises don't move, or glimmer, or do anything. Now pupils dilate, but Irises...no, they show no emotion.

I think the reason this book was my least favorite is because I really thought at some point in the series we would actually get to see Davin's personality. Instead, just like the other books, it's as if he doesn't exist without Meghan. He lives and breathes for her. But what does he like besides brooding and untrusting? Does he have any hobbies? Does he ever make jokes? I just wanted something more. More depth I guess.

It just sums up the series but it wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. I guess I was more invested on their love and not what’s truly going on around them. Even then however, I lost interest of them 2 after the fact they decided to be officially boyfriend & girlfriend. During their relationship, I just got bored....I wasn’t so intrigued anymore. The sparks & sizzle between them just faded away. Later, it was if the story was on a repeat of events/incidents from the last book: it was just this time about figuring out a cure v.s. Getting a vaccine. It wasn’t bad series. It was an enjoyable read/listen & don’t regret reading these books at all. You will have plenty doze of adventure on this series v.s. Romance. I just tend to like a good balance of it, that’s all. I just didn’t get that romance part. Haha.

Well the series is done, and in this book I found myself not caring. A bunch of new characters were introduced in the division five lab, people o didn't care about or want to learn about. Davin and Meghan finally have sex in this book but it's pretty glossed over I guess because it's YA and not adult. There is an HEA with a wedding which is nice, but I just didn't really care anymore about this story by the end. In my previous review I said I think it is too drawn out, and it was, and I lost interest as a reader unfortunately.

I binged this series in a week! I have been in a reading slump and this series absolutely helped me get out of it! And though I did love it for the most part there was a few things I didn’t love.

In this book I didn’t love the whole cure aspect. Instead of helping the country embrace the differences of the Kazzies, they just found a way for them to get rid of those differences and go back to normal. Which yea I get this series was about taking care of the virus that took out most of the population but still a good message could have be done with embracing rather them fixing. You can’t fix differences in real life. Oh the fact they found a cure so easily for this virus also bothered me but I get it’s fiction. Vaccine I can get but cure is a different level I feel.

I wish that more was done with the fact all these people had superpowers. Like I wish something else could have come into play and kinda strayed a little bit from the whole “fix makanza” idea. It would have been cool to see what they all could have done and help save people. That would have absolutely helped the hate and fear the country had towards them.

I wanted more out of Davin and their relationship. I think the fact they didn’t get together until book 4 was something that kept me interested and wanting to know how they finally got together. But once they did I couldn’t help but be a little disappointed. It happened so fast and after 3 books of build up I don’t think it the “Finally” moment fully hit for me. Plus I felt we could have had a lot more with Davin. After reading his novella I was wanting more out of his character but he was kind of there for the plot of Meghan.

Though I wanted more out of some characters I did love everyone who we were introduced too! Like I was heartbroken when some of them died in the explosion at the end! And idk how the author did it but I never met her brother and still shed a few tears when he wasn’t at their wedding.

I did love the way she handled how the virus affected the public in the first book! Like what do you mean this was written before Covid? Like the author absolutely did her research and it shows. I also was super drawn in by the forbidden aspect of Meghan and Davin. Like they deadass couldn’t touch and it was intriguing to see how that would all play out! I also listened to the audiobook and I felt like the narrator did a good job bringing the story to life.

Overall this series was pretty solid I just wanted more out of it! Definitely interested in seeing the authors other series!

I kind of want to rate this book a 3, but that would rate it below the other books which I thought were better. I'll rate it a 3 anyway. This last book was hard to get through, maybe because I read each one, one after the other. The author's writing style is very redundant, repeating the same phrases and general knowledge over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. If I were to take out all the repetition, I feel like the book would be half the length and all 4 books could be combined.

Given the exhausting writing, I did like the overall story and characters. Although I did grow tired of he same bad guys over and over... and over again, after putting this book down around the 74% mark and then picking it up nearly 4 months later and finishing the remaining pages in one night, I can say that it was satisfying to see Senator Douglas removed and a bit of slight redemption for that other bad guy who shot Meghan.

While Meghan's memory is miraculous, it's definitely solved way too many problems. I don't know anyone with photographic memory, so if there's someone out there who's read this series, please tell me if what happened is even possible.

I was pretty happy that I was able to finish the story and I did enjoy it despite the complaints above. However, the last line of the book almost ruined it for me. Sorry to say, it felt so weak and stupid. "Yeah, we did it!" I'm not a writer, but ending on Davin's last line feels a lot stronger, "It's you and me now, together forever." But Davin's not the main character, so I don't know.

Oh well, 3/5

Satisfying ending, to a wild ride.

I was pleased with how this story wrapped up. Initially, I had concerns about the series, especially since my interest began to wane by the end of book three, and I was uncertain about finishing the series. However, I'm glad I persevered and read the final book. The character development I had hoped for in the relationship between the main characters finally came to fruition, although it felt somewhat rushed due to the author waiting until the final book to resolve it.

I believe it might have been more effective if the author had spread this progression over the last two books instead of trying to fit everything into the conclusion. I do appreciate that, in the end, the Kazzies were left to live by their own choices and were not obliged to take the cure just because it existed. Additionally, I was happy to see Davin decide to remain a Kazzie.

Overall, I would rate the entire series a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Looking back at my first review of "Compound 26," I feel that Krista Street provided a fresh take on a familiar story, which elevates the series in my mind.

The Makanza series is a pretty good series. I was interested in starting each book due to the small cliffhanges the last one would end on. But I do feel like the series was dragged out. Some things are repeated too many times. One example is I started to get annoyed with Davin saying "we can never be," or Meghan would repeat that over and over, causing me to lose some interest in them being a couple. Then, after they agreed they were together, I lost interest in them all together. The chemistry they had before Davin was released seemed to disappear once he got out.

I did like the suspense towards the end, with Meghan being accused of planting the bombs & at first, everything seemed linked to Monica. I was a little disappointed that once it was announced, Monica wasn't involved, it didn't really explain why she had beef with Meghan. To me, it seemed like Monica had something against Meghan to push/bump into her & to dump out the stuff in her purse (unless the purse incident was really Jazell & Monica is just a "mean girl")

I just finished this last instalment of Krista Street’s very impressive series. And what an ending it was! The author kept the momentum going from the first sentence of the first book to the very last sentence of the last one. It’s been the best journey, full of twists and turns, great sorrow and even greater joys. Meg and Davin, and all the others, are like friends that I will miss terribly. The world that Krista Street imagined into being, then populated it with the most amazing and mostly lovable will remain in my memory for a very long time. To the Author I say thank you for sharing such delight.

Alright

It has its moments. There were some actions and sadness. But I would have been more okay if some scenes were added. Like the Kazzies funerals or the little grieving for them? I understood that was on top of everything but still. Shouldn't they deserve it? It was quickly forgotten. Or Meg and Davin talked about kids. So shouldn't have been a chapter down the lane, a bit into the future dedicated to it? The end felt kinda rushed. Many loose ends. And if the author wanted a cookie cutter ending then shouldn't be everyone paired off? Where was Sara Hea? Those little details. But altogether it was an alright series.

Great read (spoilers)

I literally just read all 4 book in a matter of days love the series sorry to see it come to an end its well rounded story would recommend reading the series the only thing I will say is it would be nice with a epilogue say 3-5 years into the future as they talk about kids and how the virus would affect them as she even states its an unknown factor so it would of been nice to see them with kids and if they where born with the virus but healthy and what string they got or without it

Dr Meghan Forester is determined to help find a cure to Makanza in order to help her Kazzie friends reintegrate with society. When she learns about Division 5, a top secret group already well on their way to a cure, she eagerly joins them, only to find even more enemies and obstacles in her way.

As a total series recap: I think this series could’ve been done in a trilogy but I still loved it. Having lived through COVID-19, I could see so much of out truths peeking through this story and was delighted that our main characters were finally able to be together in the end.

Makanza series

This series of books, especially this last one, "Division 5" had me hooked from the first few words. I was so glad when this final book came out. I don't know how I was able to work once I obtained my copy!
Each of the characters were well developed by the author.
I wanted to know more about each character. I felt The story was realistic and well written. I will read any and all books written by Krista Street.

Division five

Okay, so I’ve finished reading the series at this point. I do wish there was just more interest. Reading this series I felt like I was a seesaw. One minute it was great and then it just fell flat. I wish there was possibly maybe a second kazzie love interest. I feel like that would have made for a more interesting read. I just felt like this series was dragged on and could have ended way sooner. I am just not very impressed but it was okay.

Division 5 is such an emotional ending to Meghan and her loved ones story. The tragic events that happened shattered my heart but the author did a wonderful job weaving their story in such a way to put all the pieces back together. Every step of the way Meghan and her circle were met with opposition and yet they pushed forward. It’s amazing what her little group accomplishes. I really love all of them and must admit I’m kind of sad it’s the end of their story.

This was sooooooo horrible. It is a shamefully low level closure of a series, that could have been mindblowingly interesting with a new virus. But oooh no way, we had to dedicate an entire book for a lame love story of a lame girl and a guy who probably kept drinking on meds. Otherwise there is no real reason he would have fallen for Meghan. Seriously, at a point, l was cheering Monica to finally DO something real to eliminate her and end my struggles. I have thought this book would never end.

Just finished this series. Not sure how, or what I can read to follow it. This was completely different to anything I have read, it was totally unique. Frustrating in parts, emotionally draining in others but I have not been able to stop. The characters hooked me and drew me in. So glad the series was complete before I found it otherwise I may have gone a little crazy!

This episode of the story was riddled with suspense and covert scheming. Many of these diabolical actions were shocking and hard to believe. If you enjoy a real powerhouse of action with untold surprises and truly horrid villains, than this book is for you. I found this story fast-paced and exhilarating with very memorable characters. Wonderful to read!!!

I LOVED this series! Finished it in 2 days, staying up until the wee hours before exhaustion took over! Each book kept me guessing, and they were so well written! I enjoyed Meghan’s character growth, and how she was able to grow stronger with each book. This will definitely earn a reread in the future!

Great series!!

This series pulled me in from page one! I enjoyed the world that the author created, and the characters..... they were amazing! I found myself invested in each one. This series is a roller coaster ride from start to finish. And what an ending it was. Sad at times....but perfect! Such a great series. I'm quite sad the ride's over.

This last book was very tense with one obstacle after another for Meghan to try to overcome. But, she’s freaking awesome, so she does overcome! Beautiful ending! I loved it all. You can’t go wrong with this series, it’s definitely worth your time (and since I listened instead of read, I can say it’s worth your audible credits too!).

last book in the series of 4.

I don’t know if this book was smaller than the other 3 but it didn’t take long to read. Nice ending to the story but feel it lacked something, I guess it wasn’t as exciting as the first 2 books. I do get the feeling that Krista carry’s on her story a bit too long and loses something in doing so.
