Plucky fantasy that exists to have a good time

To be perfectly honest, I didn't love this book. But I sure did enjoy it well enough and all its good romp of and tribute to fantasy. Though that ironically may be why I didn't love it. Despite a fairly simple and classic "kill the baddie!" plot, there's a lot going on and a lot of characters, so many I felt I was prevented from getting to know everyone and keeping track of everything that it kept me from fully enjoying the story.

But I also admit some may like that. When I said tribute to fantasy, I meant it. We got fairies, elves, demons, necromancers, shape shifters... Really, all of it. And it's quite fun that way. The action doesn't let up, so it's an easy, exciting read in that regard.

So not the greatest fantasy you'll ever read, but enjoyable just the same, if you can keep track of everything.
