When Sebastian James moved back to Murfreesboro, Tennessee after his parents were both killed in an accident, he stepped into a family business he never had any interest in pursuing. But it was his home and he wanted to take care of the people who had worked for his family for decades.
Emma White had hit rock bottom when her credit card was declined and her only source of income was delivering food to people too lazy to walk down the street and get it themselves.
While on a delivery, her luck changed and a very generous tip put her on the path toward solvency. Until her idiot brother showed up with a bounty on his head and a debt they had no chance of repaying.
Despite everything going wrong in her life, Emma finds a glimmer of hope in her relationship with a tattooed businessman who rocks her world like no one ever had before. All it takes is some trust and patience for Emma and Sebastian to realize what they had might be more than just a drop-in situation.
This book is 50,000 words of sexy snark and alpha attitude set in the world that Aurora Rose Reynold created in Murfreesboro, TN. The Maysons even help out with some much-needed renovations.
For mature readers who like to read about sexy time in slow detail.
This book was utter shit. Obviously, I should have read some reviews before starting this one, so that is on me. The hero of this lovely excrement only pays for sex. If that isn't disgusting enough for you, he kicks it up a notch by having sex with a stripper/prostitute who just so happens to be the heroine's BFF <--- that's right folks, he PAYS the heroine's BFF for sex. I mean, how could the heroine possible NOT fall in love with such a wonderful specimen of goodness. I for one can't wait to hear the wedding toasts! By the way, this is AFTER meeting the heroine. So much for the BOOM. Boy, this book is an awful example for ARR's Until series she must be embarrassed as hell to have her series associated with it...I for one am glad they are discontinuing the Kindle Words program. Maybe now we can stop shitty authors from using an established author's name/series to trick people into buying their less than stellar books <---see I CAN be nice! *lol*
Okay, so…. I LOVE the Until Series, and the Kindle World Series’ that is little spin off’s from it ...though they have been hit or miss with me. This one, I was not a fan.
Sebastian… he does great philanthropic work, that’s nice… but after he slept with Emma’s friend, makes no bones about paying for sex, and wants to start a whore house with his friends and runs guns for….I dunno a side business?? and then thinks he should write Emma off because she mentions her mother being a gypsie who probably just wants his money.... Are you kidding me with that? Or the fact that he sees her with her brother and neighbors nephew so she jumps to the conclusion that she’s married with a kid…. He was just gross to me after all that. And I know he’s wealthy, but he acts like he’s such a gift to womankind, like…lemme see if this chick is good enough and then I’ll decide what I should do about her… Why did it depend on what he wanted? He flat out told her he didn’t want a relationship or to ever get married, so wtf did she keep letting him beg to have sex with her? I mean, come on…that’s basically what he was doing. Begging to have sex with her and then pretending he didn't want anything else to do with her.
And I thought these guys from these spin off’s were supposed to be like the Mayson’s.. or all alpha hot guys who would do anything once they found their BOOM… .didn’t happen like that at all with this guy. There was no BOOM, and half the book, he thinks she’s playing him or lying to him or whatever. IT was annoying… HE was annoying. I thought we’d get some mention of the Mayson’s in here, but other than Kenton’s name…that was about it.
Then… Emma’s brother is manipulative, selfish and an all around jerk (seems to be a theme here, right?), and he gets himself into some serious trouble and comes to Emma for help and a place to crash. Again, selfish and manipulative…. But after a week, he leaves and gets himself into more trouble, which Sebastian finds out about and rescues him and then when he brings him back to Emma…. They love each other! Of course they do…. Because why wouldn’t they? He sleeps with strippers and whores and only wants her for sex, but yes… yes, he loves her!
I dunno, this one just didn’t work for me. Hot cover though!
nope, nope, nope! Can not believe this was allowed by ARR to be in her alpha World Series. This is nothing like the men she writes about. I know it’s other authors in her world but the others were good this is so far in left field as far as characters.
Can’t remember the last time I disliked a book so much. No connection to the characters except for the disgust I feel, regardless of things happening before they knew one another.
For being part of the ARR Kindle World, there was no BOOM! I didn’t mind Emma, but I really didn’t like Sebastian. He makes no sense at all. He’s the “face” of a business his parents left him. Parents that abused him, that he hates, yet he still keeps running the company his father built and left him in charge of.
At first he seems like an okay guy that gives to charity, and cares about under privileged kids, then we realize he’s this guy that has sex with strippers, runs shady gun running businesses and is about to co-open a hooker for hire business. Like WTF?! She went so far off the rails with this guy. He’s like 12 different characters. Pick a lane.
Didn't finish as I didn't enjoy any of it. It started OK and then Sebastian slept with a hooker/dancer who is the leads best friend. Then the next night he is with Emma. Nope. Sorry very poor taste.
Gahhh another one from the Until series that I really didn't enjoy. Just barely finished it and it was only because I was waiting in line. No, just no. The Maysons would never be okay with a brothel, legal or not. The "boom" comes from seeing his lady, then getting her. Not seeing the main girl, sleeping with her roommate and then try dating the main girl - meanwhile trying to talk yourself out of it. I am fully embarrassed that this book is any way connected to the Until series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The first part of the book was great. The middle wasn’t great. The ending improved but not enough to increase the star rating.
I feel like the nephew and the boyfriend was a HUGE missed opportunity. I kept waiting for that to happen and it never did and I was super disappointed.
All in all it’s a decent read, but not satisfying and pretty disappointing.
50% in and H/h have only had 3 scenes together, one of which was an ONS.
54% and they finally exchange numbers.
63% and only FIVE H/h interactions. There’s barely been enough conversations or on page time for me to view them as a possible couple.
I’m not sure they have more than 10 interactions before he’s telling her ILY and it’s THE END.
This book was so strange and the plot lines really didn’t fit together well. I feel like it was written for one series and ended up in another series. It also has a similar plot to another book she wrote SHELTERING EMMA.
There’s a lot of review chatter about the H fucking the OWBFF after meeting the h. That’s such a stretch. The h delivers lunch to the H, they have 2 minutes alone in an elevator where she’s on the phone and that’s the TOTAL interaction they have for like the first 25% of the book.
LET THAT SINK IN.
Neither H/h even understand they’re connected through the OWBFF. It’s a couple weeks after the H/h first meet in the elevator that they meet up again and he isn’t with anyone after that. The H/OW literally have the most robotic tab A into slot A sex where he sits on a chair. Seriously, it’s pathetic he was willing to pay for sex like that.
The low stars have fuck all to do with the OWBFF stripper and everything to do with the lack of cohesive plot.
EDIT…so now I get it. This book was chopped up from its original “Sheltering Emma” and some scenes are taken directly from that book and some are new. I’m guessing that’s why it made zero sense. There is no stripper OWBFF in the original. This isn’t just FUCKING LAZY, it’s stupid AF.
Emma works for a food delivery service. She is trying hard to pay off the debt her ex left her with. Sebastian works at his father's business that was left to him after his parents passed. He is also a partner in other businesses. Sebastian can't seem to stay away from Emma. She is too busy trying to figure out how to get her brother out of trouble. When he finds out her brother went missing and how much trouble he is in, can he save her brother before it's too late? Will she finally give in to her feelings for him?
OK so no question I love ARR, however, this book didn't give me the wow factor. If anything this book was eh (shoulder shrug) It wasn't bad but wasn't great either. It just didn't do it for me and to be in the ARR arena you need the WOW factor. Sorry....
I love Until series and Happily Ever After kindle words. I believe the books talk about soulmates and their BOOMS. The only boom here was when I hit my head on the wall wondering what the heck I was reading. Sorry but I couldn't finish it. It's not for this Kindle world that's for sure.
It was a WTF kind of a book for me 🤔🤔 Their was NO BOOM !!!! Their was no connection I just didn't get it at all..... Was not a good fit for this series !!!! Disappointed 😒
