If you like supernatural beings. If you like dark literary fiction with writing that literally sings, check out this sample of both by Kade Cook. It’s a short story that features backstory, worldbuilding, and dark action in just a few pages, and it’s a wonderful primer for her supernatural series, Covenant of Shadows. Don’t read this one alone or in the dark.

Liked the concept, not so much the execution. I wouldn't be against reading the first novel though.
