When a murder is committed on the grounds of a cult’s premises, and Morton's estranged son becomes the prime suspect, the choice is simple: sit back and let another detective work to imprison his son, or work outside the rules to clear the family name.
As if he had any choice.
Double Blind is a standalone crime novel set in DCI Morton's London. Jump right in with this seventh instalment, or try one of the earlier books first: every story is self-contained.
Sean trained as a barrister and was called to the Bar of England and Wales back in 2011. Luckily for him, he now spends his days working out how to kill people without being caught, and then flipping the switch to play detective. His non-writing interests vary from photography and cinema to rugby and hiking. You can usually find him somewhere in one of London’s coffee shops – look for the big bearded guy taking up way too much room and hogging the Wi-Fi.
He is the author of the seven DCI Morton novels (Dead on Demand, Cleaver Square, Ten Guilty Men, The Patient Killer, Missing Persons, The Evolution of a Serial Killer, and My Hands Are Tied), one seasonal novella (Christmas Can Be Murder) plus the standalone crime thriller The Grifter.
Love the series. This one had a mind-bending blog that nearly lost me, but it was still a gripping story and the ending was a scream. It's also refreshing to read a detective series in which the cop is not having relationship problems or "Fighting demons." I am so tired of that! Can't wait for the next Morton.
The continuing story of DCI Morton starts with his son getting married to a cult member. After the joining a shot is heard early the next morning and a body is discovered but he was already dead from suffocation and had been poisoned. Who killed him and how makes for great reading.
I love the DCI Morton series, but this one kind of got away from me. Just too many characters / suspects to keep track of. It also seems that of late, this book and the one before, that both had subplots of DCI Morton’s job being in jeopardy. Enough already. Thank you.
DCI Morton is witness to his son's wedding in a cult then someone is found murdered. With his son as a suspect, Morton knows he'll be taken off the case, but keeps it quiet until his team can investigate.
Again couldn't figure out where Morton was going with this. Never saw the main clue. The setting is unique, the story is great, not a fast read you have to pay attention. Try you'll like it.
Sorry but I found this book rather boring. In fact it was so easy to put down that it took me months to finish. I read the previous Morton books and they were compelling.
A truly great read. Suspenseful to the very end. Thanks to the author for an entertaining story. Kept me guessing as to the killer. An enjoyable reading experience. Ann
Usually like Sean Campbell books and character DCI Morton but found it quite boring even with the race against time. Not as good as his other books. Felt it went nowhere fast. Sorry!
