I was just his best friend's little sister.
But he was everything to me.

Jameson Tate was the star of all my teenage fantasies. The wannabe guitar player left town when I was just a girl, dragging my heart along with him. I lived in a holding pattern, waiting for him to return. Five years later, he did.

But he wasn't the same.

The sweet boy I knew is now man, strong and sexy, yet fiercely loyal to my overprotective brother. His sudden reappearance wasn't something I planned for. Nor was his employment at my family's garage. He's all I want and everything I can't have. Now I burn with desire, drowning in lust for a man who's off limits.

A man who's hiding secrets of his own.

I loved the nostalgic aspect in this book. The rock bands, high tops, band t-shirts, all brought me back to high school days. This was a great book. Throughout of first half of the book I was trying to figure out what Jameson's secret was, I was not even close to figuring it out. I enjoy a great twist that I can't figure out right away. It keeps the book more interesting.

The characters in this book were all extremely strong. Being so young and having lost all their parents. Jill and AJ pushed through all their pain and kept the family business going. Jameson seemed kind of wishy washy for a while, but he finally seemed to calm down and fight for what he really wanted. Which made for a great ending.

Jillian and her brother A.J. have lost both of their parents. They now run Morello and Son's Restoration together, never having time for anything else. They're all the other has, best friends and protective of each other. A.J. has been working extremely long hours trying to keep the business going. Jameson Tate, his best friend who has been gone for five years comes into town and ends up staying to help them out. There's an instant attraction between Jameson and Jillian. With a warning to stay away from his sister, Jameson tries his best to keep Jillian in the friend zone.
Jillian had some amazing spunk but you could see how the events of her life affected and hurt her. Fear plays a big role in her decisions, holding her back from fully allowing anyone in but her brother.
I wish Jameson had been honest about his secret when he decided he couldn't stay away from Jillian. When everything comes out its a shock to all, including the reader. I absolutely love that once he decides he wants her even her attitude and attempts to drive him away won't stop him.
These characters felt so real to me. While we didn't get to meet any of their friends, we got to really know the three main characters here. I felt this was very well paced and well rounded. I love the alternate point of views, I think we really got to see what they were each feeling. This was a heart-warming story of loss, heart break, strong bonds, love and second chances.

Jillian Morello is a 19 year old whose parents are both gone and lives with her brother AJ running their family’s auto restoration shop and barely making ends meet by doing regular maintenance and few big restoration projects. AJ is working every waking minute and has given up his dream of drumming in a rock band. Just as Jillian realizes something has to give, in walks Jameson Tate, their childhood friend. Sexy, tattooed and driving a vintage Mustang. Everything Jillian finds perfect in a man. Except AJ tells Jameson his sister is off limits.
The attraction between Jameson and Jillian is intense and visible right from the beginning. Everyone sees it except possibly them. They try and deny the feelings so AJ won’t see what is going on but the pull is undeniable. Secrets have a way of coming out though and eventually AJ’s threat and the reason for Jameson leaving town years ago come to light and create lots of complications.
This book was so much fun to read. There are many references to classic heavy metal bands permeating throughout the entire story from childhood memories between Jillian and her dad and a concert the three go to together. The theme of Jillian’s fear that everyone she cares about leaves is also heart breaking. There is such depth to this story that makes it a deep and heart-warming story. Highly recommended.

What a great story!
I loved it! The characters were normal everyday people I could totally relate to. The story had some of my favorite type of storylines. I forbidden romance his best friends sister, first love and heartbreaking pasts. Together they made a book I couldn't put down.
Jillian was so sassy and loyal. Her relationship with her brother made me smile but the story of their parents broke my heart.
Jameson was just perfect with a not so perfect secret past. He had horrible monster of a father! Their story was something nightmares are made of. Just SICK! God love him he moved past it and made himself into a good man one his father could never dream of being.
Jillian and Jameson certain had an uphill battle to get to their love story. I was rooting for them through the secrets, the fights, the near tragedy and even her stubborn fits. Jameson knew all along she was worth waiting and fighting for!

"You spent your whole life looking through dirty lenses, not even realizing how crisp and bright everything was until the grime was wiped away." Jane Anthony Secret Promises. (Off Limits Duet, #1)

GAHHHH, I love this line. This book was filled with perfect lines such as this one.

I give Secret Promises four solid stars. I really enjoyed the story and do recommend it for those who like a sweet NA brother's best friend romance.

It took me a while to finish Secret Promises. It wasn't because I wasn't interested in the book, it just takes me a while to finish reading stories sometimes, especially if I'm on a roll writing.

There were a lot of things I like about this book.

First, I enjoyed the secret aspect of Jameson and Jill's relationship. Taboo relationships where people have to remain a secret are some of my favorite books to read. I liked how I could feel the tension between the two characters when they were around Jill's brother AJ, and how their relationship wasn't an insta-love. Insta-love stories are the hardest books for me to get behind. I like stories where characters build relationships and form a bond that is realistic and believable.

I felt that Jameson's character was very well written and that the Dual POV was clearly defined. Jameson's sweetness and his patience when it came to Jill and AJ was really endearing and kept me reading.

The reason I didn't give the book five stars is because I had problems with both Jill and AJ's behavior when it came to Jameson, and how they dealt with the truth of his past history. When Jill basically wrote him off and then used him every chance she got, I really felt bad for Jameson. He did nothing but be there for her, and she kept tossing him away like a towel.
I did like that when the truth came out about what happened with Jameson that AJ was quick to forgive him, and I loved the end scene, how Jameson tried to get Jill to fall even more in love with him gave me goosebumps.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves NA books about off limits relationships. I can't wait to read AJ's story, and the rest of the Off Limits Series.

Other lines that made me go: DAMN THAT'S GOOD!!!!

Jill: Sex is not a feeling.
Also Jill: I had porn star tits and a twelve-year-old's ass.

Hoping for an oil change and a trip down memory lane, Jameson Tate drives back into our lives after five long years. Even though a lot has changed, two things haven't -- the way I burn for him and my overprotective brother's warning that I'm off limits.

But when he looks at me, one thing is clear: Jameson Tate doesn't see me as his best friend's kid sister. Hidden inside his smoldering green gaze is a longing so fierce it takes my breath away.

Passions ignite, risks are taken, and bitter betrayals flare. Either our love will survive the secrets we keep or the promises we made will crash and burn.

Jillian Morella was always a loud to tag along with her older brother A.J. and his friend Jameson Tate when they will little kids. Jamison disappears mysteriously when he and A.J. were in high school. Jameson hadn’t been seen since but suddenly shows-up out of the blue several years later at what used to be A.J.’s and Jillian’s dad’s automatic shop which after his death, is now run by his son and daughter. Until she was introduced, Jillian didn’t remember this hunk-of-man hotness standing before her. Jameson is also amazed by the beautiful woman Jillian has transformed into. Jameson offered to help A.J. out by working at the shop since A.J. has been working his tail off. Jameson and Jillian find themselves drawn to each other but A.J. has warned Jameson off. Will Jameson and Jillian be able to keep away from each other and heed A.J.’s warning? You will have to read Secrets and Promises to find out?
I thought Secrets and Promises started a little slow but eventually the story picked-up and I found myself sucked in to see what if Jameson was able to fight the pull between him and Jillian or if A.J.’s wishes would be followed. Secrets and Promises especially became exciting when Jillian and Jameson began sneaking around and seeing each other. I don’t know how many times they were almost caught by A.J. You never really can guess what the “big secret” Jameson has been keeping that A.J. knows about. When it is finally revealed; it is a big “Wow!: moment in the book. I found myself sucked into Jameson’s and Jillian’s story and enjoyed reading it.

It's got the feels!

This book had the feels. Jill is 19 and has lost both her parents. It's just her and her brother, AJ trying to keep the family garage afloat. Just when they needed him most her brother's best friend Jameson comes back after disappearing five years ago. This book has young love, a brother trying to keep them apart and Jameson has secrets. I can't wait to read AJ's book!

What is not to love about this one? Jameson Tate was Jillian Morello‘s teenage fantasy. Jameson and AJ, Jillian’s brother we’re best friends. Jameson just up and left one day. Five years later he returns and Starts working with AJ in his auto repair shop.

Jameson is told by AJ to stay away from Jillian. AJ thinks Jameson did something in his past but didn’t know the real truth. Jameson and Jillian can not stay away from each other and finally get together.

Jameson tells AJ what really happened to make him leave and AJ finally understands that Jameson and Jillian were meant to be together.

I Love a good HEA! LOL

Jillian Morello

There are three things in this world that I love: vintage cars, classic metal tunes, and my older brother, AJ. For as long as I can remember, it’s been AJ and me against the world. Now, in the wake of our father’s passing, everything has changed. Chained to the family business, my young life is all work and no play…until he walked in.

Jameson Tate

“Stay away from my sister.”
I was warned from day one. It should have been a simple enough task, but seeing her at work day in and day out proved to be harder than I thought. I drove into Morello and Son’s Restoration after five years away hoping for an oil change and a trip down memory lane. I wasn't looking for a job, and I never expected to fall for her.

Review:
I've read another book in the past about the no touching the sister bro rule and had enjoyed it, even chuckled at the fact that a teenager saying that I remember using myself with my guy friends was being used in a book, but Jane Anthony took it to the next level with Secrets And Promises. What had begun as a schoolgirl crush when she was younger, Jillian couldn't quite forget or get her brother's friend Jameson off her mind and did her best to get noticed in her teens - but let's face it, us ladies at that age are either just average, barely curveauseous and filling out our clothing or at the other side of the spectrum and for the most part, the butt of many jokes. Now the owners of their father' scar shop after his death many years later, Jameson is passing through, needing his Mustang tuned before continuing his journey only to find out that the man he considered a father has passed away. Offered a job, feelings and an attraction that neither Jillian or Jameson were prepared to experience draw them to one another, forcing A.J. to take out *drumroll* the no sister dating bro rule! I've never been a fan of books with characters that are overbearing brothers or family members that believe they know what's best for everyone else, but Jane Anthony has managed to create such a strong and independent woman in Jillian that I didn't have enough time to want to despise A.J. or try to figure out why he rubs me the wrong way. In the end, I found that the siblings complimented themselves very well just as Jillian and Jameson are one couple that pulled me right into their love story and kept me entrances until I was satisfied that they had their own little bit of happiness somewhere. Having had the chance to read Secrets And Promises has given me the hunger, or rather the impatience, to look forward to the next release from Jane Anthony - it really was that good of a read.

*I received an ARC from Enticing Journey Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review*

Thank you so very much Enticing Journey Book Promotions for sending me an ARC of Secrets & Promises!! I’m very honored and grateful!!:)

4.5 Live and Be Truthful Stars!!

This story is the truly defines the phrase don’t ever let yourself forget what it feels like to live. The characters in this book all had pasts that still bothered them and messed with their presents. Secrets & Promises is all about loss, unspoken truths, love, and learning to breathe without the regret of being alive. Ms.Anthony captured my attention with her writing but it was the connection i had with the heroine in the sense of music tastes as well as life in general left me hooked until the very last page. I feel as if there was a deeper meaning to the story as it progressed and i loved uncovering every single layer.

It’s stories like this one that prove we all have flaws and no ones life is perfect but it’s the deciding factor of pushing forward or just staying put that rings true in the end.It was all very realistic, dramatic, and at times so frustrating i felt as if i was going through exactly what the characters were. Even though the story was deep in some moments and sexy in others it could be really classified as a happy read but a real happy that isn’t sugarcoated. I read this one rather quickly and i enjoyed every second of it!!

Jillian Morello was a character that knew the true meaning of loss and pain. She was busy trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart after the passing of her father and trying to help out with the family business along with her brother that she really didn’t have the time for anything else in her life. It broke my heart to see her struggle with things but i was happy that she became happier and stronger as i kept reading. Jill’s favorite kind of music was metal and besides cars that was something she was so very passionate about. I liked that she was very relatable, easy to like, and that she cared about others more than herself. Her relationship with her brother was so sweet and hilarious at times.

Jameson Tate was a character that had a past that kept creeping up when things were seemingly going great. He was very much a sweetheart with a guard up but he was also misjudged by others. I even misjudged him before knowing more about his character and that’s where him having his own point of view made the situation of liking him that much easier. I loved that even when things didn’t turn out exactly as planned he kept on trying. So many times i swore i could kick him and punch him in the face during so many points in the story but then he would pop up saying cutie and i honestly became lost in him as a character. Seriously, can i be his cutie?

I highly recommend this story to anyone looking for a read that is realistic, sexy, full of mentions of metal bands, and learning to smile again after a long time of not having done so. Secrets & Promises is an entertaining book that doesn’t shy away from difficult topics such as death and hidden truths. One-click today!! You won’t regret it!!:) 4.5 Stars all around!!

I'm giving this book a 4.8 but that's not an option so I went for the 5. Well written, original story and loved the characters.
Jillian and her big brother, AJ Morella, have been through some of the worst problems life can throw at you. Their strong bond has given them the upper hand but then it's also their weakness. When AJ's old friend, Jameson Tate, shows up and offers them a hand they can't refuse. But why would they, the guys were close ones and Jillian missed hanging with the boys. Even if Jameson isn't that boy anymore, but a strongly attractive man.
My full review was filled with spoilers but I'm going to save the surprise for you. It's seriously a "surprise". I'm going now to read the next story of author, Jane Anthony's.

I won this book on a Facebook giveaway. This is the first book I have read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last. I couldn't put it down. The book is amazing filled with passion, heartbreak, loss, love & a massive secret.

Jillian Morello has lost both her parents and the only person she has left in the world is her brother A.J. Since their dad’s passing away they have taken over running the family mechanic business. Jillian runs the office and looks after A.J works long tedious hours. Everything is about to change for them both when they take on a job for a car, that’s when Jameson re-enters their lives after 5 years of being away. He is ripped & tatted and there is an instant attraction between the two of them. One problem stands in their way she needs A.J’s approval. But Jameson isn’t going down without a fight

Jameson Tate comes back to town after staying away for 5 years and goes to get his car sorted at Morello and Son’s Restoration. He always felt at home there and was close to the whole family. He can see that A.J is swamped with work and ends up working for them. That’s not the only thing he notices the little firecracker Jillian has definitely got his undivided attention. A’.J has warned him to Stay away from his sister. He tries his hardest but the pull between them is magnetic and Jillian is adamant that her brother comes first because he’s her only family.
A.J is stubborn and drops the mother of all bombs to put a stop to their relationship.

Can the secrets destroy them & can promises be kept?

Secrets & Promises by Jane Anthony was a first time read for me. I wasn't sure what to expect in this story as I jumped into reading it with no knowledge of what it would be about. Jane Anthony did a great job writing this story; it captivated my attention right away from start to finish. The story is heartbreaking at points but necessary. I loved the depth of the characters and the things I didn’t see coming were things I really didn’t see coming. Secrets & Promises is about Jillian Morello and her older brother A.J. Morello live in the house they grew up in together. Their parents have both passed away and leaving both young Morello's to run the family business. Jillian and A.J. We're forced to grow up in difficult circumstances dealing with very adult issues. AJ and Jillian have struggled to keep the family business running and to support each other after tragic loss. Jillian adores her big brother and has always followed him around. Jamison, long term childhood friend and Jillian's schoolgirl crush turns up unexpectedly. Jameson is a childhood friend of her brother's who left town to escape from his past. Things happen between illian and Jamieson that play out the rest of the book but it makes them stronger. This is a brilliant read, and would definitely recommend it to friends that enjoy the same type of books I do.

FIVE ROCKIN STARS!

Another fantastic book by Jane Anthony! This Brother's Best Friend Romance just flowed off the pages and I was lost in their story right from the first page.

AJ Morello and his sister Jillian have been running their family car repair and restoration business alone since their father died a year ago. It has consumed their lives and they are barely keeping Their heads above water. Their mother died when they were 13 and 11.

Things start looking up when AJ's friend from school, Jameson, shows up after leaving town mysteriously 5 years ago. They used to play in a band and Jill had a crush on him. Now he is even better looking and he offers to help out in the garage. The attraction Jill feels for him is so much more powerful and he appears to be reciprocating! But there is a lot of hot and cold with Jameson that confuses Jill. Also there is still the question about why he left town 5 years ago.

I loved the Friends to Lovers slow burn. It seemed to repeatedly get snuffed out by Jameson however. He was starting to frustrate me as he did Jill. I mean either you do it or you don't. Well, I was glad when he finally made up his mind. Their sexy times were so hot!!

All Jane's books are a one click for me as she is one of my Go to Authors. This is one of my favorites by her. It's a must read. FIVE ROCKIN STARS!

What a wonderful story! I read it in one sitting, unable to stop devouring all that was Jillian and Jameson.
I loved the little details of this book, the vintage feel of rock band t-shirts and high tops.
Jillian and AJ are alone, them against the world, running the family business after the death of both their parents. Neither one has the time to stop and enjoy life even though they are only 21 and 19. Then a blast from the past swaggers in driving a sexy mustang and looking like every man-fantasy Jillian has ever had. Jameson and AJ were friends in high school until Jameson left without a hint as to why. Upon Jameson's return AJ makes one thing very clear, Jillian is off-limits, but the chemistry is fierce and undeniable. The only one's denying are the ones involved.
These characters made the story, the normalcy, the believable nature and flaws. Even the minor characters are amazing. i spent the entire book trying to figure out Jameson's secret, but could not pin it down. Well done on that point. Usually i can see a secret or plot twist coming but not this one. That alone kept me reading. The love, the loss, the heartbreak and the joy. My first Jane Anthony will not be my last.

Note: This ARC was provided Enticing Journey Book Promos in exchange for an honest review.

This was a pretty good NA love story with the friends to lovers trope used in an effective enough manner. Jillian and Jameson are both young and, let's face it, immature to a certain degree. Their actions are often dictated by their emotions and Jillian has a tendency of reacting by walking out instead of sitting down and discussing things. Of course, we have to keep in mind that she's only nineteen and he's only twenty-one, so we can't expect them to act like mature adults with gobs of life experience, though the experiences they've already had--Jameson with his mother's suicide and his father's disgusting behavior and Jillian with the deaths of both her parents and taking care of the business with AJ--are pretty heavy already. All in all, this was an okay read, and I do hope AJ gets his own story told in the future. Secrets & Promises gets 3.5 stars. ♥

~5~ Emotionally stars from me!!!

A very emotional story, really my heart broke many times as i was reading about what they've been
through, all our characters Jameson our hero and Jillian our heroine plus her brother AJ grew up in
a highly emotional devastating family environment. But the remarkable thing here is that they kept fighting for their future especially the two siblings and became really great characters and in the whole story they kept evolving steadily.

That also made AJ to created overprotective feelings towards his sister and the result to that is to keep Jameson away from her and their sparkly, instant chemistry/lust, well maybe they found a way to express their feelings and live their romance..(you have to read it to learn how)..

Generally all their moments were very enjoyable and interesting to read i fell in love with both of them and of course with the plot the author has create which screams perfection from as i said the characters, the secrets, the twists, the strong emotions and the very enjoyable dialogues...what's not to like?? I certainly recommend it and I'm looking forward to the next story the author will create.

Jill and AJ are barely adults and running the family business on their own. AJ is a 21 year old mechanic and his 19 year old sister Jill runs the office of their auto shop. One day a blast from the past returns to town at just the right time.

Jameson was AJ's best friend 5 years ago and is back for reasons unknown but is willing to help out his friend. Doesn't hurt that Jill has grown into a hot woman that Jameson can't take his eyes off of. But when AJ notices, Jameson has to put his lust-filled feelings in check. Too bad Jill didn't get the memo because all she wants is Jameson.

The chemistry between Jill and Jameson is great as is the story line between all three. There is a whole lot of will they won't they going on that keeps you turning the page. Secrets don't get revealed until much later, but it was still a good read. I liked that Jill was such a strong girl and not a typical girly-girl at that. I think I would have liked it if AJ was a little more involved in the story, but I still liked it in the end.

This was a personal read, I'm so F'n glad I choose this one. I am between happy tears and sad ones... Jillian and her brother AJ run the family garage after their father pass away. Putting on hold any dreams they may have had to keep the family business running. For a 19 year old and 21 year old that is a lot of repsonabilty. After being gone for five years Jameson comes back to town and stops by their The Morello's garage to get an oil change, but once he learns that his best friend father past way and they are stuggling, he decides to stay and help. After all Mr. Morello did so much for him all those year ago. Jillian is taken back by how much Jameson has changed over the five years he's been gone. Jameson is just as caught up in Jillian. But the past isn't easily left behind, along with AJ strictly prohibiting them to be together.
oh, sign..... Secrets & Promise is a sweet, feel good read, with hard working blue collar guys, who aren't afraid to get dirty. If you are sick of all the "Christian Gray" types, this one if for you....

What happens when the one woman you want is the only one you can't have?

The Morello family has gone from family to siblings. AJ and Jillian are the only Morellos left. At 21 and 18, they are donning what they can to hold onto the family business.

When their old friend stops in, it seems like fate.

Jameson feels at home with the Morellos. They were the best part of his childhood. When he realizes they need help, he steps up. He's a good guy, but he's no saint and Jillian is far more tempting than he'd like to admit.

A good, predictable read. Secrets and Promises was fun. A Jersey girl myself, it was fun to see us represented.

Jameson is like a sibling to AJ and Jill, until he finds himself attracted to Jill. Then AJ turns on him because of something that happened 5 years before. Jameson is a very sweet guy who has a bad reputation. Jillian is sometimes a sweet, naive girl, and sometimes b***ch, who is devoted to her brother. AJ is a dick. This is well written, but sometimes irritating. This is one of those books that you just want to smack the characters Gibbs style. I did enjoy though, mostly because Jameson is such great guy.

Jill and AJ are trying to hold together their family's business in the wake of their father's death. Jameson is an old friend who returns to town and begins working at their shop. The infatuation between Jameson and Jill picks up where it left off 5 years ago when he left town.

Jameson is such a great character and so good to Jill, sometimes too good as she was being completely obnoxious to him. Part of me wanted him to lash out at her for what a brat she was being, but that probably would have been against his character.

This is a sweet story of a second chance at love and a really great read.

Loved it all as usual! Jane is one of my go to authors when I'm in a slump, I just feel like she gets me and her words always strike a chord, the little things that make a book *MORE* to me. I loved Jillian and Jameson from the start and felt that instant connection that I love to feel when a book really hits home for me. Its her attention to detail I think. It had the intrigue of not knowing Jameson's secret, and I admit that drove me crazy because I usually figure the twists out well ahead, its not often I don't have a clear idea. This book just hit every button for me, as usual I loved every word!

Gifted an ARC for an honest review….
This was a story of second chances and a very well written one. Jameson and Jillian are well written characters, both have survived tragic family situations and have come out stronger. The book is compelling, fast paced, contains a few surprises, but at the heart of it all, is a love story. Well done.
