A wizards worst nightmare had come to pass—my computer beeped at me.
The night degenerated as we discovered all our hard-earned, some would say ill-gotten, gains had been hijacked. Then it turned hellish as witches entered the scene.
Soon I'm trying to ignore the smell of patchouli and stop myself getting involved in business I have no right, or desire, to become involved in. But what's a poor wizard to do when a sexy witch in too little leather and too much jewelry asks nicely? Yeah, I said no, fat lot of good it did me.
Now I'm stuck in the middle of warring factions, and if I don't pull a rabbit from the magic hat soon, friends, family, and even enemies will die.
Little did I realize, my misplaced loyalty and heroics would get me killed. It's an occupational hazard, but even wizards run out of luck eventually.
Oh, and there's the small matter of the Kinky Bones, but that comes later.
Hi, I'm Arthur "The Hat" Salzman. A bit overwhelmed, to be honest.
This series continues to be one of my favorites. I just love Arthur, and I hate that he seems to never catch a break. However, towards the end of this one, something very unexpectedly wonderful happens, and now I’m all worried that will go, as the Brits say, pear-shaped in a future installment. Aside from that, this book was filled with the great action, fun, and jaw-dropping moments that we expect from Mr. Line. I always wonder if he can top his last book, and he never fails to do so. If you love fast-paced, fun urban fantasy, give this series a go! Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy of the e-book which I reviewed voluntarily.
Wizards and witches don’t mix very well. Arthur ‘The Hat’ Salzman, wizard enforcer and all-around gangster, knows this, and usually avoids them. But, when Selma (aka Mrs. Pink), a young witch, impersonates Ivan, brother of his sidekick, Vicky, and head of the vampires, and hacks their bank accounts, and then impersonates his daughter, George, Arthur finds himself up to his fabled hat in witches. Mabel, queen of the witches, is up to something that’s definitely not good, and wants Arthur’s help, but, being witches, she and her coven go about it in all the wrong ways until the appearance of the kinky bones, the skeletal remnants of an all-powerful witch, complicates things beyond imagining. As if this wasn’t confusing enough, Arthur meets Penelope, a citizen who has never seen magic, wizards, or dead bodies, and falls in love with her. From that point, things just go downhill.
Kinky Bones by Al K. Line is number 7 in the Wildcat Wizard series, and if you’ve read and liked the first six, you will be totally captivated by this one. The Hat at his best (or worse, depending upon your point of view) as he deals with batty witches, devilish plots, and murderous bones. Just as the bones get Arthur around the throat, and other sensitive, but unmentionable parts of his body, this book will grab your attention and not let go until you reach the end.
I received a complimentary copy of Kinky Bones in exchange for my unbiased, honest review, and honestly, what can I say; it’s one heck of a great read. Don’t let this one get away.
A review of “Kinky Bones: (Wildcat Wizard Book 7)” by Al K. Line Something Witchy
Full Disclosure – I was provided a copy of the book by the author as a member of his “A-Team”, however, have voluntarily chosen to write a review. All opinions are my own.
Kinky Bones is the seventh book in the Wildcat Wizard series by author Al. K. Line and for me, this was probably the most surprising installment yet. The action takes place several months after the end of “Lost Hope”. Arthur, Vicky, and the gang have recovered and have moved on with what passes for a “quiet” life. Things are starting to go really well, and if you know anything about this series that’s usually when things start to go sideways. Arthur discovers that his and Vicky’s accounts have been wiped out and this starts a chain of events first to get the cash back, and second to find out who is responsible for the theft. When it turns out that witches are involved, Arthur must walk a fine line between clearing up this current mess without alienating George or her sister witches. If that’s not hard enough, toss in a crazed Queen Witch and an unexpected visit from “Cupid” and The Hat really has his hands full!
So, where Lost Hope was probably the lowest I have seen Arthur (and that’s saying a lot), Kinky Bones was a bit more upbeat. Arthur really places his focus on his family and realizes that there are more things out there than just stealing the goods and getting paid. Too late does he realize this though, as he encounters an insane “queen witch” obsessed with making sure that he meets Death for the last time. Then there’s Penelope… and for me, the jury’s still out. On the surface, she really looks like she could be a grounding force for Arthur and can bring some sanity to his world, but it just seems that her appearance was almost too perfectly timed. Also, since Cerberus was conspicuously absent in this installment, that puts me on high alert. After learning about Carmichael’s true nature a few books back, the fact that Cerberus has been quiet can only mean trouble! For now, Hat fans can take comfort in the fact that Arthur, for once, has landed himself in a good place. Let’s just see how long it lasts!
Kinky Bones is the seventh book in the Wildcat Wizard series by Al K. Line. The complete series is available in a boxset, twelve books for the price of one #winning. What a great way to get your book-binge on. The Wildcat Wizard Complete Collection Box Set contains the entire Wildcat Wizard series by Al K. Line. It is an epic, original, and intriguing urban fantasy series - woven with wizards, vampires, magic, paranormal elements, action, adventure, mystery, suspense, danger, drama, humour, heists, quests, the supernatural, and interesting quirky characters. The Hat is a great character, he’s a bit of an anti-hero, as he gets caught up in quite an adventure (or two) with a few heists, mobsters, criminals, villains, and dangerous and dramatic developments to contend with. Along with his fairy godmother, they take us on quite a ride- one you won’t forget anytime soon. Happy Reading…

*Partial spoiler alert* I read a lot of Al K. Line books and this was by far the most random one I’ve ever read and I didn’t enjoy it as much. Penelope just randomly appearing as a character who Arthur immediately falls in love with was a bit random for me and the Kinky Bones didn’t seem to fit with the plot at all other than a random way for Arthur to get killed and use to kill. Other than that, I enjoyed the magical world of the witches and how it differed from the wizards’ world.
Love this series - the only downside is having to wait for the next book. Our wizard is droll and dry, and strangely endearing, streetwise and at the same time somewhat clueless, but his self honesty is what really draws me to the character. These books make me laugh out loud, not something that is too common. They are well written, without irritating grammatical errors and the stories link seamlessly. I would recommend this author, not just this series.
The hat is my favourite within the whole universe,he has the strongest family values and is refreshingly normal considering the wizard stuff and general delicious madness surrounding him.
How in the entire hell did you bring us to this? I was totally not expecting it but grateful for the ride. Thank you for bringing The Hat to our world!
