Sidney Sheldon (1917-2007) was an American writer who won awards in three careers—a Broadway playwright, a Hollywood TV and movie screenwriter, and a best-selling novelist.

His TV works spanned a twenty-year period during which he created I Dream of Jeannie (1965-70), Hart to Hart (1979-84), and The Patty Duke Show (1963-66), but it was not until after he turned 50 and began writing best-selling novels such as Master of the Game (1982), The Other Side of Midnight (1973) and Rage of Angels (1980) that he became most famous.

The master manipulator is a woman and the story begins when she is a child, ending at her ninetieth birthday party.

She is married to her career, and she will stop at nothing to get what and whom she wants, where she wants them.

You have to respect her, but you have to fear her too.

It’s my second read of this Gem of a novel, a masterpiece from the Master story teller Sidney Sheldon. One of THE BEST novel I’d read, 12 years since I read it for the first time, even now gives the same goosebumps, pity, admiration, hatred in an emotion turmoil. Kate Blackwell, a women character I adore a lot, also the most hated one by everyone who travels with her, one who goes to any extent of manipulation, bravery to ensure the well being of Kruger - Brent. Three generations of story in a neatly packed one, references along with real life events across the world, need’s humongous knowledge & talent to have written such a beautiful piece of work.
