Indra Soundar Rajan, (b. 13 November 1958) is the pen name of P. Soundar Rajan, a well-known Tamil author of short stories, novels, television serials, and screenplays. He lives in Madurai.
He is something of an expert on South Indian Hindu traditions and mythological lore. His stories typically deal with cases of supernatural occurrence, divine intervention, reincarnation, and ghosts, and are often based on or inspired by true stories reported from various locales around the state ofTamil Nadu.
Two or three of his novels are published every month in publications such as Crime Story and Today Crime News.

படைப்பின் சூட்சுமத்தை அறிய முடியாத போது படைத்தவனே இருக்கிறான் என்று சொல்லும் இடத்தைச் சாதாரண மானிடர்களால் எவ்வாறு கணிக்க முடியும்.ஒவ்வொரு நொடியும் பல புதிர்களையும் அதிசயங்களையும் கொண்ட மானுட வாழ்வின் திசைகளை அதன் போக்கிலே சென்று தான் முடிவை எட்ட முடியும்.
சிவன் மலைக்காட்டில் இருக்கும் மலையின் உச்சியில் ஆகாசலிங்கம் என்று அழைக்கப்படும் லிங்கத்தைச் சுற்றி சித்தர்களே வாழ்கின்றனர்.மனித பிறப்பின் ஆசாபாசங்களுடன் உள்ளே நுழைபவர்கள் திக்குத் தெரியாமல் அந்தக் காட்டிலே மாயமாகப் போகின்றன்.அக்காட்டிற்குக் காட்டிலா அதிகாரியாக வரும் சுந்தர்ராஜனின் மனக்குறை அங்கிருக்கும் சித்தர்களால் களையப்படுகிறது எதிர்பாரத விதமாக இச்சாதாரியான பெண் நாகத்தைக் கொன்று விடுகிறார் சுந்தர்ராஜன்.
தன் துணையைக் கொன்றதால் ஆண் நாகமான பரணி சுந்தர்ராஜனை பழிவாங்க தேடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.சித்தர்களின் பாதுகாப்பில் சுந்தர்ராஜன் இருப்பதால் பரணியில் கண்ணில் இருபது வருடமாகப் படாமல் அக்காட்டிலே வாழ்கிறார்.
சுந்தர்ராஜன் காட்டில் தொலைந்து போனார் என்று அவரைப் பற்றிய முடிவுக்கு
வந்துவிடுகிறது அரசாங்கம்.
சித்த வைத்தியரான சிவசாமியின் மனதில் தங்கத்தை உருவாக்கும் ரசவாதம் பற்றி அறியும் ஆவல் அதிகமாக எழுவதால் தன் நண்பர்களுடன் சிவன் மலைக்காட்டிற்கு வந்து சேர்கிறார்.இவர்களுக்கு உதவியாக இச்சாதார நாகமான பரணி துணை இருக்கிறான்.
அதீத சிவபக்தரான முத்துப்பிள்ளையின் மகளான பார்வதியை சித்தர்கள் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து மூலிகை மூலம் அவளுக்கு தெய்வாம்சம் பொருந்திய குழந்தையை உண்டாக்குகின்றனர்.அக்குழந்தை பொன்னி சொல்லும் வாக்குகள் அனைத்தும் பலிக்கிறது.
இருபத்தியோரு ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு சித்தர்களின் தூண்டுதலால் காணாமல் போன தந்தையைத் தேடி சுந்தர்ராஜனின் மகன் பாலு அக்காட்டிற்கு வருகிறான்.
காணாமல் போனா சித்தவைத்தியர் சிவசாமியை கண்டுபிடிக்கும் பொறுப்பைப் போலீஸ் தனியார் துப்பறிவாளனான பாண்டியனிடம் ஒப்படைத்ததால் அவனும் பாலுவுடன் அக்காட்டிற்கு வருகிறான்.
தன் பத்திரிக்கையில் அக்காட்டின் இரகசியங்களைப் பற்றி எழுத கண்ணனுடன் ஷாலினியும் அக்காட்டில் பிரவேசிக்கிறாள்.
காணாமல் போனதாகக் கருதப்பட்ட சுந்தர்ராஜன் பாண்டியன் கண்ணில் விழுவதுடன் முதல் பாகம் முடிவடைகிறது.

Makes me remember things on my trips ... How could this guys think of such stories.
The interest level is maintained in the book from first till last. Though there is lot of mysteries to be solved, the expectation this book creates is more than other novel series like rudraveenai etc
Well written, with awesome pace and touch of philosophy all over. The explanation while narrating hills were awesome, it just feels like living there while reading it.
Go for it - different genre of mystery ...

It started off to be an intriguing and interesting story, but it did not meet the expectations.
The story has supernatural, almost-immortal Sithars who reside in Sivanmalai. They protect Sivanmalai and are worshipped by the surrounding people. They have so much power, but since they have renounced earthly desires, they are isolated. There are people who want to use those powers for their greed and how everything turns out is the story.
The story does have great potential, but there are no strong opponents to make the story interesting and everything gets resolved too easily for all the hype. I think this book focuses more on the discussions about people's beliefs in religion and practices of worship. Only some were okay. And some discussions did not feel logical to me. Why change iron/brass to gold? Why not use the gold used by normal people? And if they are not going to share secrets of medicine to make sure the population is in check, then how come they are given those secrets? I mean they have already renounced everything, so then what is the need? What exactly do they do with all those powers? I mean, what is the purpose? I don't mean to be rude, I am just saying I don't get it.
And the Kindle edition I read had at least two spelling mistakes on almost every page in Sivamayam Part-1. There were mistakes in part 2 as well, but not as much. It would be great if these could be revised.
Overall, it was a disappointing read for me. But I do appreciate the effort. At least the first half was a smooth sail.

Mind blowing story
One of the best super natural novel of all time. Brief explanations given about Lot of Hindu religion beliefs by the writer. They're very interesting and informative. Brilliant writing. One of the best.

Siva Mayam, a spiritual thirller honouring the Siddhar's-saivite saint's who are ardent devotees of lord Siva their spiritual practices and their alchemical skills. The story revolves around the spiritual hilly place 'SivanMalai' in TamilNadu. It is believed that Siddhar's live in this hill station and worship lord Siva. The protagonist's are the Siddhar's, a forest officer who becomes a Siddhar himself and a private detective. And the antagonist being a different species of snake which can transform to a human form with magical powers and 2 godman's of the current era. The two volumed series is a complete family drama surrounded by spirituality, alchemy, herbal powers and vengence.
Now coming to the review, the entire story is written in colloquial expression and informal conversation which was quite new to me. The story though it kindles the interest to turn pages it creates a hefty feel because of the more number of characters who do not have any direct/indirect relation to the story. The sequence of events are well tamed until the last 5-10 pages which really brings down the quality of the entire novel. The climax is a total disappointment and brings down all the anticipations and entierity of a thriller novel. Just skip the last 10 pages, it's a feel-good novel with a happy ending.

The book is actually a mythical-thriller we should say. It speaks a lot about Hindu mythology. The authors sways us with his words. Since it's a fiction we should not really think about logical reasoning stuffs. People who are interested in Hindu mythology can go with this book. People who loves the authors way of portrayal would enjoy this book. Totally a one time read worthy fiction

I love Indira Soundarrajan's writing style!
This novel is so gripping and it makes the reader to want to visit 'AkashLingaa'.
