Everything in Sapphire Village is pretty crazy right now...
When Alice and Cat stumble across the body of a local vigilante, Cat realizes he was one of her best customers, and vows to get her revenge.
As the two of them begin their own investigation, however, they realize that the man's life was a lot more complex than they first imagined, and it quickly becomes apparent that their victim may not have been in the wrong place at the wrong time after all.
Meanwhile, The Others seem to be avoiding Sapphire Village, and Grandma Cee wants to draw them out in order to defeat them once and for all. And just in case that wasn't enough, the race to become the new mayor of Sapphire Village is heating up, and Alice finds herself unwittingly getting involved.
As Alice and Cat get closer to finding the murderer, Alice can't help but feel like they're in danger. Will they manage to catch the murderer before they become the next victims?
Samantha Silver lives in British Columbia, Canada, along with her husband and seventeen-year-old dog named Terra.
When she's not writing cozy mysteries, Samantha loves travelling (she's most recently been to Egypt, Jordan and Florida) skiing, eating Dairy Queen, and complaining about how hard running is.
This is an entertaining Paranormal cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. A young woman inherits her aunts book shop in a small organ town. There are some that live in the rest of the human town. Her biological mother was killed by a paranormal group called the others. I think the mentors. An evil Group a Paranormal‘s suck the soul out of which is to gain their power in life force. Her mother was killed by them and her aunt took her own life moments before they took her soul. To keep them from getting her magic and her soul. Does she inherited the bookstore and now along with her family fights the others as well as solve mysteries in the little town where is she now lives. Entertaining and a fun read with an eclectic bunch of characters that is sometimes humorous and every so often a bit dark. Check it out
When Alice and Cat discover the body of Sapphire Sam, a local social outcast who seems to believe he's a superhero, in the alley behind Cat's cupcake shop they come up with a plan to try and find not just his killer but the bike thieves who Sapphire Sam had been trying to stop.
Using Cat's $3,000 bike as bait is asking for trouble, even more so when they uncover an issue with the best selling bike locks they've chained it up with, so it's no surprise when the bike vanishes and they can find no trace of it. Tracking Sam's movements to the alleyway seems equally tricky as his last known movements are in the opposite direction and then there's missing Sally Wentworth who works at the bike shop. Has she fled after taking out Sam or is something more sinister going on?
Doubling up the investigation and trying to draw out The Others doesn't help either when Alice has to abandon the bike thieves to save Cat. All in all the pair are up to their necks in danger, the question is will they succeed on any front?
Research is lacking on the subject of Tolkien's works. He wrote far more than just the The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings; which incidentally should be read in that order.
Too frustrated with simple errors that could be easily avoided.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
There is so much to love about this series! The main characters are charming with a lovely family bond, both locales are colorful in different ways, the mysteries are diverting, the overriding story arc includes a sinister, shadowy foe to add a bit of darkness and tension to each book, and there's still room for moments of lighthearted humor. "Death Quixote" finds cousins Alice and Cat determined to get justice for a murdered town fixture while avoiding the Others. Hapless cousin Peaches manages once again to contribute in an unexpected way, and this reader found additional entertainment deciding which character was tilting at windmills. I also enjoy Alice's relationship dynamic with Chase and wonder how long it will be before her steadily growing power outs her; Book 5 is now a must-read!
A wonderful read. A dead vigilante, stolen bikes and the Others are all mixed into a plot that will have you racing through this book. Can she and her cousin find the missing link between the stolen bikes and the death? Will the Others attack again and will her magic lessons give her the skills to fight back? The characters are fuller and now seem like old friends whilst the plot is a great mix of sleuthing and the fight the witches have against the Others.
This is a fun paranormal mystery of the "clueless young woman finds out she's a witch " variety. But this is easily forgiven since the characters are appealing and the backstory is interesting. The mystery is a little light but with the backstory woven in, you hardly notice. It is well written and edited and well worth spending a lazy afternoon reading it.
Alice Caliope is at it again in this 4th episode of her stories. Things with handsome sheriff Chase are heating up, cousin Cat's cupcakes are being eaten and people are being killed in Sapphire Village. These books are a fun read, not necessarily great literature but a great way to while away an afternoon.
I really enjoy the mystery in these books. They are a lot of fun to try and figure out. This one has an ending that wasn't easy to discover. I recommend starting at the beginning of the series.
Alice and the Others. Cat and Alice embark on another murder mystery. Alice tries to fly, kiddie style and hurts her back. A girl is missing, bikes are being stolen. And Alice's back is out of whack. Chase and Alice become a little closer. Read and enjoy!
Once again it’s Alice and Cat solving the case. I like the fact that the cousins are close. I can’t wait to read what happens next. I wish that there were recipes for zebra cupcakes. They sounded delicious 😋
They are getting better with each book. I love the romance in this book. It doesn’t take over the whole mystery element and we get to see our main character actually learning how to become a witch
I guess this book was okay. Not as fun as book 3. The description of Brixton Road really doesnt make sense. But, it’s fiction anyway, still acceptable.
