The Dancer
Ex Football star Max Carrington is going through life, playing the hand that life dealt him. I haven't read a Jordan Silver book in AGES so when I saw she had a new one released I decided to give it a go. It was OK, but lord was this book LONG and SLOW. 350 pages long and we don't even get ANY sex until we are 250 into the book. Not to mention, the heroine was a total TWAT who threw tantrums like a 2-year-old for the first 250 pages. I honestly have NO clue what the hero saw in her. Especially since the hero in this one was surprisingly a pretty sweet guy. He didn't spank her or stick his freakishly large penis into her a$$ once!
Of course, once we head into sexville we have all the classic Jordan Silver funnies, like an 11-inch dick. A devirginizing bloody massacre. His giant manwood poking through her cervix <-- someone call a DR stat! (lol). There was also some really great secondary characters that I am thinking will be getting books of their own. It probably would have been a better book if it had been shorter and the heroine hadn't acted like such a childish bitch for so long.
Of course, once we head into sexville we have all the classic Jordan Silver funnies, like an 11-inch dick. A devirginizing bloody massacre. His giant manwood poking through her cervix <-- someone call a DR stat! (lol). There was also some really great secondary characters that I am thinking will be getting books of their own. It probably would have been a better book if it had been shorter and the heroine hadn't acted like such a childish bitch for so long.

"The Dancer" is the story of Annabelle and Max.
Lord, this was LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.
So the story isn't bad. Typical JS book in which a super obsessed alpha with a giant dong spots our spunky heroine, instantly falls for her and starts getting me-tarzan-you-jane posessive over her and then they bang and have their HEA. Added is a funny mom, naughty brother, loaaaadsss of past issues, drama, jealousy - however what makes this a snooze fest is the endless inner monologues which continued in a loop for around 450 pages. Hero chases-> heroine rejects -> hot kiss -> heroine relents -> hero happy -> heroine back to cautious -> hero chases in a never ending loop.
Ofcourse, once they do bang, it's like a porn movie.. and a bang bang here, and a bang bang there, here we bang, there we bang, everywhere we bang bang..
I think I'd have enjoyed it way more if it was concise, 200 pages to the point, and the hero did not keep ruminating throughout the book.

Unlikable heroine.
Endless inner-monologue that's super repetitive (we get it, the H thinks he likes the h because she reminds him of his mom jeezus).
It's an editor's nightmare.
Worst of all is the format. I've noticed this with Jordan Silver, but the placement of quotes in dialogue is rarely correct, making it hard to tell who's speaking. I'm over trying to figure that shit out for her.

The unrelenting inner monologues by the H comparing the h to his momma could have been reduced by half and you still would have a 300 page book and still too many pages for the content. I made it to 40% and I don’t think the h strung together more than a handful of words in all that time. 😵💫😵💫

He didn't expect the attitude, he didn't expect falling in love but Annabelle is it for him. Now he needs to get the stubborn women on board and her past has left her with a mountain of distrust. Max has a plan to break down each of her walls and make her completely his.
I enjoyed this one a lot. Reminded me of a mix between Mouth and The Gambler a bit. I savored every moment, really liked Max and he really delves in to getting to know Annabelle. Great read, hope there is more like this one in the works.

I don't know why, but I liked this one. Yes, it was very long, but it was great. Om is the bad guy, he puts his hand under her skirt, then he attacks her later. No rape, but it was mentioned a couple of times. Ow in the form of the H's employee who wanted him and caused a few problems. I thought it was a great read. There is a lot of the H's inner dialogue that you read, but I think it went with the story really well. The H did leave for a few hours, but didn't last long. Great story.

Great story, but needs better editing...
I love Jordan Silver stories. This one is a little different than most of her previous ones because Max doesn't even have sex with Anna until almost halfway though the book. I like that most of the book is from Mac's POV.
I did have a few issues that prevented me from giving this book a 5 star rating. One is that some of the things that Max is thinking about was pretty repetitive. I think we get the comparison between Anna and his mother, but I felt at times (and there were many) that it was being browbeaten into me. If all that repetitive verbiage was taken out the book would be smaller by almost 1/3. Also her paragraphs are so short. It is only one of two sentences. I may not be an English teacher, but I do know that paragraphs aren't usually one or two sentences long. Finally, and I've mentioned this in previous books, that she does not know how to use the word 'worst':
She's just as bad as you or worst.
I knew once mom showed up it was going to get worst.
According to her she's had worst dancing.
In the end I chose aunt Jess because she's worst than that damned KGB.
I can't stand it! She needs to fire her editor or, if she doesn't have one, hire an editor.

Not a fan of the overly combative heroine. I felt like some of her reactions went too far even though the H never gave her a reason to doubt him. I understand what she went through with her parents was traumatic, but the H was nothing like her father. I also felt like she could've condensed the story. It felt very dragged out and some of the story wasn't really necessary.

Finally another Jordan Silver book! Just kidding, it really hasn’t been that long, just a few months, but of course when you look forward to anything a specific author produces even a week can seem long. Jordan Silver could write a recipe book and I would be one of the first in line to buy it.
It’s been awhile since we’ve gotten a longer story and this one was worth the wait.
It had two emotionally stunted MCs that need each other to heal and find true happiness
It had a wicked, bitter rival that goes to extreme lengths to keep the happy couple apart
It had a slow burn, you won’t find these two jumping into bed
It had a good set of side characters that were a true asset to the story
It had an hea with BABIES! Of course it did, this is a Jordan Silver book, duh
I cried, I felt the character’s pain, I felt their emotional growth through the story.
Hoping brother Travis gets his story??! Enjoy!

Slow slow burn at the start but smoking ending
Absolutely love seeing our alpha H, Max, being given a true run for his money by our h, Anna.
Anna is such a strong yet fragile character that you can’t help but love her instantly. Her inner strength coupled with her vulnerability make her the perfect match for Max.
Max makes me laugh and want to slap him upside his head at the same time. I love that he’s so tired in knots over Anna. It’s definitely something different than the usual confident, brash and cocky H were used to seeing from Jordan. I love it!!!
Only questions are: when are we gonna see what happens with Travis and his girl and will we see a story for Tony?

too much internal monologue
This book is entirely the MMC inner thoughts and after a while it became extremely annoying. Could have been great but this is not the type of writing style I like to read.

This is the slowest book by Jordan Silver and nope. Not like it at all. It was cute when the heroine fighting for the over-the-top alpha, but when the fighting keep on going and going and going and seems no ends? No. Just boring. Even in the end THE Jordan Silver's marks was still there, I m off. Not liking the heroine at all. And the hero treated the heroine like he can't do anything about it.
Too slow for me and all the sweetness in the end seems lack.

The book kind of does an awful job of selling you the girl or him. You kind of like him but you spend so much word count with no reason to like the girl. And just comparing to the mother repeat is creepy. Have the moment that humanizes her early. Something that sells us why we should care about this girl. Do not spend most of the book with mom boners. It's creepy.

At 52 percent Annabelle had only just had one tiny little section from her POV. The rest had been all from Max’s POV.
And let me tell you, I’m not sure how anyone would want to be with someone who constantly treated them terrible. She was mean, rude, short with him and when he tried to help with her cost even tried to hit him! She is one of the worst heroines I’ve come across in a while! It was a real struggle to even get to 52 percent. I started and stopped it, but finally I’m just so bored I’m tossing it back. Up until this point they’ve only kissed and she’s still acting absolutely horrible.
The excuse is because she had family drama take place. Sure, she had some rough stuff happen. But it does NOT excuse her from treating other people poorly.
There is soooooo muuuuch internal rambling blah blah blah. That adds nothing to the story btw.
Very little dialogue that’s not very entertaining.
A lot of exclamation marks tossed in. And it’s like, wait....was that yelling or in a raised voice? The writing is frankly not very good, rather immature and unpolished. A ton of tiny paragraphs after paragraphs of random boring internal blabbering.

This book is OTT.
It's insta-love but also a slow burn, because it's not until 2/3 of the way through the book that there is any sexual intimacy. While I appreciated the slower pace to the relationship, this book was way too long and the characters really lacked any substance. We don't really get to know about them beyond some surface facts and their attraction to each other. Max is way to aggressive at the beginning for my taste, he's always manhandling Anna and is incredibly bossy for knowing her for such a brief period of time. It's such a turnoff to me when a book has a lot of dialogue that contains words that are in all capital letters, excessive cussing (not that I'm against cussing, it's just not the type of writing style I enjoy), or sentences ending in "!" and Max has a fair number of sentences that meet all three of the criteria.
Overall the book is well written, could've used another pass with an editor for grammar, spelling, and general word choice. I felt like there was some issues with continuity mainly regarding Anna's schooling. She was going Columbia at the beginning of the book and then it's not mentioned in the second half of the book at all. decent read, not my favorite Silver story
It’s single POV until chapter 22, and it’s all Max until then. Which is surprising. I rarely read books solely from the male POV. I didn’t hate it. Just different.
I’ve read most of Silver’s recent stories and I love them. This is perhaps closer to her first stories than the more recent ones and honestly it shows. I have come to love Silver for a very specific voice that the characters tend to have and while Max and Annabelle are fun characters, the witty banter, the severe personalities aren’t at play. There’s not nearly enough dialogue and so much internal conflict and dialogue that I found myself skimming and skipping ahead, because it was repetitive hang ups. The spice was light and the pacing was glacial. For such a long book, there was so much chance to do something interesting and insane and honestly the book was very mundane in terms of where Silver’s stories are now.
The story is extremely straightforward, there’s no twists and turns. There’s no revenge or comeuppance. Ray was moderately satisfying but not nearly enough. The dad and his new wife was boring and barely a blip. Arlene wasn’t satisfying either, but it was something. It’s a fine read but it’s not the wild ride that a usual Silver story is.
The lack of capitalization and punctuation was upsetting but it wasn’t too terrible.

How do you know if you’ve found “The One”? Ex-NFL quarterback turned club owner searches for the answer in Jordan Silver’s “The Dancer”. Known for the rotation of women on his arm, and in his bed, Max stumbles upon Annabelle...but he isn’t sure exactly what he’s feeling.
Max’s internal dialogue is humorous and reveals the inner struggle of a man falling in love for the first time. Annabelle questions his sincerity which is understandable considering his past but also the betrayal from people who were supposed to love her.
“The Dancer” is not your typical instalove, alpha male, billionaire, virgin story (even though all those elements are included). The story is not rushed. However, there seems to be redundancy making the story drag just a little, yet not taking away flow of the book.
It includes some likable supporting characters adding more depth (and humor) to the overall story. I absolutely love Jordan Silver’s ability to domesticate alpha males, and she certainly achieved that in the book.
This is an entertaining and steamy book perfect for both new and veteran Jordan Silver fans!

This book is highly recommended as Mother's Day reads for me. The story will make you realize to value your life & the people around you. That being selfless for someone you love will be hard most of the times but at the end of the day a rainbow may appear & something might happen that will make you be thankful that you have endured that hardship for you to experience a greater future. Gahhh..I miss my Mom because of this book & I can easily relate because the heroine is a breadwinner too.😄❤

This is a slow burn, emotionally driven romance filled with quiet passion. I love how Jordan Silver manages to weave a little bit of magic into all of her stories, even when there is that familiar moment of thinking that this would never quite happen in real life.
The hero is a former NFL player who always seems to land on his feet. When he meets a sweet nineteen year old dancer who is emotionally damaged and completely overworked, something in him just knows. She is the one, and she needs to be protected.
I really enjoyed the pacing and the tenderness in this story. It is gentle, emotional, and deeply satisfying, and it left me with that soft, happy feeling that Jordan Silver does so well.

Therapist needed!
I enjoyed the characters, but not so much the storyline. Anna and Max are a wonderful couple together. She had reasons for her toughness and attitude. They served as a defense mechanism to pain. Anna is 19 and Max being an experienced 29 year old Alpha male should have used protection before having sexual relations with a virgin. It’s twisted because he should have encouraged her to have fun and be 19. Max should have gotten her a therapist to work through everything before having unsafe sex with her. Instead he wants to breed babies on someone that was suffering from a mental trauma.

Toxic Female MC
The FMC ruined this story. She was a pure b***h until about 50% and then became a different person but still was unlikable. She lacked real personality. No matter how great the male MC treated her she never appreciated him and turned on him without real proof in the end. She lead him like a dog. No matter how bad she treated him he took it and came back for more. I tried to be understanding because of her history but she came off as plain hateful. Those around her enabled her behavior. Jordan Silver has been a hit and miss author for me. I have finished all her books. I either love them or absolutely hate them.

The story line is better than the previous book that I'd read. The Characters is a bit more reasonable but the flaw is I feel like it too long and unnecessary line are too much and even though how long the book is the story developing is nothing too improve. I wish the writer have a good editor to works with her. This book makes me feel lost sometime in between the story and have to skim a lot because the H is thinking the samething too much.
Actually I'm not a fan when she wrote other books that full of abuse, rape, or sexual assault but lamely twist it into love.

Anna and Max
I loved this story! I'm glad Anna is a strong independent woman who isn't afraid of a little hard work and it's funny when she gives Max h*ll, which is for most of the book. I laughed until I almost cried when she gave him attitude and him being a "typical" man, didn't know how to respond .
Seeing the bond between brother and sister is so sweet and I'm hoping we get a book for Travis and for Max' s best friend Tony.

I've been jonesing for a Jordan Silver book and I must say so worth the wait!!!
A full novel, the sweetest love story and no shortage of Ms. Silver's heat (wink wink sizzle). Max and Anna were perfect. I loved the whole cast! Really hope there is a follow up...hint hint Travis....Tony....surprise and wow is PLEASE!!!!!!!!
