Detective Inspector Stella Cole has almost completed her bloody quest to avenge the hit and run killings of her husband and daughter. Only one member of the legal conspiracy who murdered them remains. But he happens to be her boss: Detective Chief Superintendent Adam Collier. And he’s not going to go down without a fight.
His first move is to have Stella sectioned. While she’s incarcerated in a psychiatric hospital, he hires a Maltese woman to kill her. Monica Zerafa is fearless, brutal and hungry for the cash Collier’s promised her.
But neither Collier nor Zerafa has reckoned with Stella’s violent alter ego, “Other Stella”. What’s worse for Stella, this split-off part of her personality is growing stronger by the day. She wants control.
The non-stop action switches from London, to a gangster's palatial home in rural Essex, then to Canada and an Ojibway reservation, and Chicago, before the final, bloody climax in frozen Minnesota.
A darkly disturbing crime thriller…
Hit and Done is the third book in this hyper-violent trilogy about love, revenge and what a mother will do when pushed to the edge of sanity.
The body count keeps on growing as Stella confronts all the people who want to harm her … and metes out her own special brand of justice.
Fans of Kathy Reichs, Karin Slaughter, Tess Gerritsen, Henning Mankell, Jo Nesbo, Jeffery Deaver and Ian Rankin will love Stella Cole.

What an exciting end to the Stella trilogy!! Her search for all involved in killing her husband and baby daughter, Lola, comes to an end. So many twists in this well told tale, from several police officers ,lawyers and judges forming a group,PMM, where they take 'justice' into their own hands when they disagree with the end of a trial., to the extent Collier goes to be rid of Stella! This is the third book but can definitely be read on it's own, as the author does a remarkable job of letting you get to know exactly what all characters are like. You will be shocked by things Stella goes through, feeling what she is feeling as a woman states she is there to help you escape the psyche unit, then jumping back when the woman tries to throw you over the bannister! A suspenseful adventure, as you wonder in every turn of the page if Stella will make it out of her search alive! I received an ARC of this book from the author, Andy Maslen, who I greatly thank for a marvelous tale, and therefore I am able to put my thoughts into this review for you. I highly recommend this 5 star story to all readers!
Was slightly concerned on finishing book two how it was going to end, but Andy Maslen does not disappoint! A very satisfying conclusion to the PPM storyline and now into book 4 and hoping I don't have to wait long for the fifth.
Oh yes, Stella Cole is back and this time she's a nightmare straight from Tarantino's film. Andy Maslen has a talent for depicting scenes and situations...very visual, very real. What I love about Hit and Done is that it satisfied my secret quilty pleasure of vigilante. I mean, usually, when you read something about fighting back the injustice, revenge or righteous punishment there's always at a point when the MC starts to have a moral conscience then whatever bad thing happens to the bad guy anyway or at one point the MC forgive and let the law be. But for Stella Cole, she's a no-nonsense, unapologetic and resolute mum and wife whose sole purpose is to "kill" those that took her love ones away. I don't recommend this book for anyone who can't tolerate violence like animal hunting or bloodbath crime scene.
another great book that brings the fight to an end for Stella , its got a great pace and is well written.
Her search for all involved in killing her husband and baby daughter comes to an end when she travels to the USA to bring an end to her nemesis and Ex boss.
there are so many twists in this great story you wont want to put the book down a great tale with both suspenseful and adventure
This was the third book in the Stella Cole series and was an excellent ending to the trilogy. It would be good to read more of the Stella Cole series in the future. It was an engrossing read and you wondered right up to the end whether Stella Cole would survive. Highly recommended
There's only one thing wrong with this book...it brings us to the end of what has been a truly brilliant series. Loved every minute of the series and the this book was the cherry on the cake.
Superb story telling by Andy Maslen with characters that live and breathe and a tense, believable plot.
DI Stella Cole. Unfortunately for us readers we’ve come to the end of Stella taking care of PMM. As usual this is an awesome read that you just can’t put down. Great cast of characters with an amazing story line leaves us wanting so much more !
Stella Cole the cop turned vigilante, brilliant ending to a great trilogy, twists and turns like a helper skelter. Brilliantly written, as only Andy maslen can. A must read.
I enjoyed a lot of this. The opening chapter really made me wonder what was going on. However, as the plot unfolded, I found much of the action in the narrative difficult to believe. I suppose Stella was a bit like a female Jack Reacher, righting wrongs and doing so in a violent and bloody way. Although there was much that was interesting and detailed, and there was a lot of action, I couldn't really decide whether or not I had enjoyed it. I want to read the next one just to see how Stella's story moves on.
If you wanted more of Detective Inspector Stella Cole and her psychotic Other half...you've come to the right place. And then there's a wicked bitch from Malta. The struggles continue, both internally and externally, with Stella on the run, but still seeking justice for the heinous deeds of vigilantes Pro Patria Mori. The trail runs hot to Canada and the Northern US where Stella will come to know her inner-self with the help of new allies. The chase is methodical and yet a thrilling page turner towards revenge. Done? Does this end as a trilogy? Or not?
Book 3 in this series. This is an absolutely magnificent read! DI Stella Cole is out for revenge against a clandestine group of very powerful people called Pro Patria Mortem. They eliminate people or rather suspects who utilize the legal system to escape justice. They murdered her husband and young daughter. Stella has some tremendous psychological issues, understandably so. But she has help and fights through it. Allies she also meets on her journey for justice. Deep twists and turns throughout her journey. Enjoyed immensely!!!
Fantastic story line but did not enjoy/ follow the psychological diatribe with ‘ other Stella’, almost gave up as so far fetched and fanciful, not my kind of read at all which is great shame as such a good tale without all that psych rubbish. Another thing I do not like is the book always ends with a cliffhanger, so you have to buy the next book to continue the tale, unfortunately I was on holiday and had to wait four weeks to get the next book ( not sold in Australia). Not a book to take on holiday. I am planning on reading the next book but it will be my last if any psycho rubbish in it
Andy Maslen has kept me interested and intrigued throughout this trilogy. Stories within stories, interesting new characters, diverging pathways all leading to an inevitable ending. Inevitable, but not disappointing. These books have keep my interest from page one onwards; no mean feat as I often find too much repetition in many a trilogy to "fill out" the pages. Well written, well researched and intelligent explanations. I'll be looking at more novels written by Andy Maslen
The third book in the DI Stella Cole series, and the one where the PPM saga is resolved. And how! Some great adventures along the way. It got me thinking as to whether institutional organisations like PPM could or do exist, and how far the establishment would go to eradicate them and keep it quiet. Food for thought!! And plenty of gore and violence along the way. As well as reminders for Stella that maybe life is worth living.
YES! THIS is the Andy Maslen I've been waiting for with regards to Stella Cole ~ I think he's hit his stride. Now I WILL read her subsequent stories ~ Stella is interesting; her internal struggle with dissociative identity disorder was treated so compellingly ~ so carefully ~ so well. Is she cured? No. She'll never be ~ but is she on the road to recovery? ABSOLUTELY!!!! Can she function in society? DEFINITELY! Is she rather amazing? Oh, YES!!!!! I'm excited to read #4!
Well written, in-depth consideration of mental health, which while romanticized is a solidly plausible fictional effort. As a action drama it is superior to most. I am very cautious about awarding five star perfection ratings. This may well be one. I am following this author and will happily read there of this series. I got this third in series book through Kindle Unlimited read for free books. The others in the series cost more.
The third book in the series is perhaps the best so far. It completes a 3 book story arc and resolved all issues from the previous two. Half of the action in this episode occurs across the pond. If you listen to the audiobook the narrator is exceptionally good. I look forward to Stella's future adventures with great anticipation! and can certainly recommend these books to thriller fans who like psychological aspects as well as all out action.
Andy Maslem and his brilliant character Stella Cole have totally excelled in this book. I couldn't put it down. The story in this 3rd book of the thriller series was crammed full of twists, turns and unexpected power plots within plots. 'Unrelenting ' is the word that springs to mind.
Thoroughly enjoying all the Di Stella Cole series so far, this one also being a page turner I didn’t want to put down. It may be a little gory in places, but it all adds to the drama and intrigue to keep you reading as this lady seeks revenge on those who’ve killed her family. Off to read book four now, definitely recommend the series in what I’ve read so far in the first three books.
This definitely in my top ten of more than good reads. Stella had some wonderful twists. The treatment for her psychosis was masterful and a acknowledged treatment in earlier times. Always good to read a good over evil story although a little overkill with th body count but great read.
Well, this third opus in the saga of Stella Cole is huge. Twists, peaks, troughs, unexpected turns, ventures into ancient holistic healing and then resolution. A superb roller coaster of Mr Maslen's incredible imagination which leaves you wanting more. One journey ends, but then there's a doorway to where an angel's namesake beckons.....
Hit and Done by Andy Maslen is the final book in the Stella Cole trilogy and the author doesn’t disappoint in this gripping story of revenge.Readers of this final part would be advised to read the first two books first, but there are references to past events that would give enough background information to be read as a stand alone book. Many thanks to the author for the free copy of Hit and Done.
A really good read with an amazing storyline and a great cast of characters. The book was very well written and hard to put down. Contains several twists and turns. An excellent end to a trilogy that I would highly recommend.
Carrying on from the two previous books in this hard hitting trilogy Andy puts together a gripping final chapter in the life of a troubled Stella Cole great twist at the end, do I possibly see Stella and Gabriel getting together....who knows
To be honest I enjoyed this book more when Stella's alter ego came to play ! Although the story was good , it's a bit blah blah heard it all before . But when other Stella showed up then it all became more interesting .... would have liked more of her.
Thoroughly enjoyed the three series. Would like a follow up on how Stella Cole gets on in the future. Have my own thoughts on that. Would love the author to write about Her next
Andy Maslen is a very good story teller, all his books just get better. His characters and storylines just grab you after the first few pages. If you haven't read any I would encourage anyone to try.
I held off reviewing this series of books until I finished the third one. So enjoyed the lot. They kept me on the edge of my set the whole time, not wanting to put it down until I was satisfied there was going to be a happy ending.
The twists and turns keep you wanting to keep turning the pages, even though your eyes are tired. I can't wait to start book four to see what is in store for Stella. Adam's death was quite spectacular!
