A princess, a football player, and the secret that has kept them apart for years.
Maia fell hard for London Wilder. She was the daughter of a woman of low standards and he was the home-town hero destined for football greatness. Their love sparked quickly and burned hot—until the night that rained heartache like a Texas hail storm.
Maia hasn’t seen London in years and certainly didn’t expect to see him at a bachelor auction she hosted as part of the promotional campaign for her first animated film. She thought the years between them would protect her from his soulful brown eyes and electric touch. She was wrong. London brought to life her long-silent heart with one touch of his gentle hand.
London agreed to be a last-minute substitution in the Titans’ annual bachelor auction to honor the memory of his grandfather, a military vet. He’s stunned to see the woman he let slip away calling out for the highest bidder. Maia chased after her dreams and became the superstar he always knew she could be. Under the layers of fame, designer clothes, and flashy jewelry, London can see the woman who set the rhythm of his heart and he wants a second chance.
As Maia and London try to reconnect, old heartaches and old enemies rise up like demons and threaten to destroy the tenderness between them. They’ll have to face their past and their present troubles to find a future together—or say goodbye one last time.

Another excellent book! Can two former high school sweethearts find their connection again. Secrets broke them apart and could again. Outstanding sweet romance.
A good, sports romance story. Maia Esposito is up under the dark shadow of her mother. Similarly, London Wilder grew up under an abusive father. While London knew about Maia's conditions, she was kept ignorant of his. High school sweethearts who split up with broken hearts. Ten years later, they accidentally run into each other. This is the story of their struggle to find love together once again. The end is delightful.
I am, have always been, and likely always will be, a sucker for a second chance. The reasons that pulled Maia and London apart the first time, were utterly heartbreaking. It was a joy to watch this pair reconnect and finally open up about those long-ago hurts. This is a pair I desperately want to see make it for the long haul.
I love the characters in this book. Maia has come from a rough home but has made a success of herself through her hard work. London is a pro football player from an even rougher home but tries to hide the horrors of his youth. Great story!
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Actress Maia and professional football player Landon Wilder dated in high school, but hadn’t seen each other since until they met at a charity auction. They decided to try dating again, but Landon has secrets he isn’t willing to share yet which strains the relationship. As they work through things, an old enemy emerges to cause problems again. A touching story about abuse, forgiveness and acceptance.
This in an honest review. I dont like to bash books but at the time of this review, thenaverage rating is 4.48 and there is no way all those 5 star reviews are honest!! This isnt a terrible book, but it feels more like a novella than a novel. The H and h are only actually together a few short times in the entire story. Then we get a few additional flashbacks of them ten years earlier. Suddenly we're at HEA The End. Wait, what???
It just felt too rushed and the H was too perfect. I liked him, but their first date is an over the top perfect location, where he plays the too- perfect song (,much too early IMHO) and says all the perfect things. I just felt like doing one big eye roll.
This could have been a great story; the bones of the relationship were there but it was not fleshed out and filled in at all. Have you ever read a story where the timing of all the events happens for the convenience of the author, but it does not work for the story or the reader or even the characters? This is one of those.
This is actually one of my favorite genres. I love a good sports romance, especially a series. There is no sports , and MUCH more unecessary drama than there is any romance. Most of the book ,we are hearing about things the characters do while not together. There is zero sex (i was ok with that here) . It is supposed to be part of a series but that is in name only The tie ins to other books are so badly done that they actually confuse the reader and make the story less enjoyable- just two random names thrown out vaguely, once each, with absolutely NO explanation and SO out of place in the scenes that I felt like i had skipped pages. Nope. And we never even met one other player.
Sorry. A real disappointment. To her credit, the author clearly spent a lot of time dreaming up the background story for the H, and to a lesser extent, for the h. That's great! We as readers will follow you down that road and enjoy their history, but we have to have their present story too, or it's all pointless, and that is sorely lacking in this novella.
The Warrior Groom: Texas Titan Romance Book 2 is by Lucy McConnell. This is a wonderful princess and football player book that reads easily and quickly. It keeps your attention and yet is easy to stop and go back to. Maia had hit her stride after high school and college and was now a famous actress. Her recent hit was a Princess movie where she animated the princess. Before the movie came out, the publicity began. One thing she had to go was MC a charity event where a date with football players were auctioned off. Maia thought she was ready for this when there was a last-minute exchange of players. The final player to be auctioned off was London Wilder. She and London were high school sweethearts but got sidelined. She could handle this. Maia and London are caught up in seeing if there is anything left to their romance. However, trouble seems to be coming their way and it seems to be ripping them apart. Will they let this happen?
Maia is a popular actress who has just wrapped an animated movie about a princess. She has been hired to emcee an auction to benefit vet's. What're being auctioned are five football players from the Texas Titans. London Wilder is a last-minute substitution at the auction and when he sees who the emcee is he can't believe his eyes. Maia and London were high school sweethearts until prom night when their relationship crashed and burned. London wants to start over but he's been carrying a dark secret that he doesn't want anyone, including Maia, to know about. Maia realizes that she still has feelings for London but doesn't know if she's ready to be with him again or if she even wants to. Will these two parts of a whole be able to get back together or will the past keep them apart for forever?
Princess Maia is in for the surprise of her life when she emcees a bachelor auction and the last bachelor is none other than her high school boyfriend, the love of her life, the one that dropped her without warning on the night of their prom. It has been ten years but the sparks are still there. The secrets that stood between them then are still threatening in the present. True love can overcome anything. This series is quite enjoyable and this book is an excellent addition.
So much enjoyment reading about people in love. People with real problems, even though famous and in demand. With the help of Jesus Christ and striving to keep His commandments, anyone in any station of life can find joy and love in life. Texas Titans have this fan.
While similar to her other sports romances, and containing characters shared with the other Texas Titans books, this novel doesn’t come of as canned. I think this is due to the awesome main characters. It was great to have a bit of color in a sea of white.
Wow! What a story! Childhood sweethearts💗 then apart only to still find out 10 years later their love was still strong. Fell in love with Maia and London.
I really enjoyed this story. This was another great Texas Titans romance. There were great characters, just enough suspense and a lot of sweet, clean romance.
I loved this beautiful romance about second chances,a nice storyline and intriguing characters. If you like clean romances then this is the book for you.
I thought by the title this would be about a Navy SEAL. But no. I didn’t need it to be about a SEAL. I’m just saying the title mislead me. Anyway the story was fine.
