Well another well written book by this author and doesn't it make my heart sing to read something that's clearly been in the hands of a good editor. I found it very easy to get lost in these pages and my afternoon just simply flew by. Such an unusual approach to witches and demons and the assorted powers our players have just added to the fun! I think unrequited love must be the most painful of all and yet the author attacks that subject in such a delightful way. There's no bitterness in play just a big caring bear of a man called Ayden who from his first scene as a reader I just wanted to cheer on. I really enjoyed the twin sisters with their brave outlook and wanted so much for Kalissa to really see the man in front of her but with a hex on her memories how would she realise just how special their bond is? This was so easy to fall into with its myriad of characters . There's a war going on with casualties on all sides but with the penmanship of this author it was such fun to read. I was gifted a copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
This author writes paranormal stories that are somehow enable the reader to suspend belief and great reads to get lost in - and this is no exception. This is the brilliant start to a new series involving witches and demons together with the very special witches who are called the Divinity. There have been a series of Divinity murders and Ayden Daniels is the sheriff investigating them. Ayden is the grandson of the oldest living Divinity and realised when he was just seventeen that Kalissa Bradenton is his soul mate. At that time, she agreed but then she rejected him completely, leaving him heartbroken. Now the two meet again after she has a near fatal car crash that wasn’t an accident. Seeing him again triggers memories that she doesn’t remember and the attraction between them is still incredible. When Ayden realises why Kalissa has forgotten about him and their love he begins to hope again their true love can conquer all. Why has she forgotten about them? What evil determined to separate them then? Will they stand any chance of fulfilling their destiny and become soul mates?
This is an action packed fight of good against evil, with the young Divinities starting to explore their powers and learning how to overcome the ever threatening attempts of the demons and previously unknown Dark Divinities. It is an enthralling story with a range of wonderful characters - you’ve just got to love Teddy and Bear!
This is a great second chance paranormal romance with some unique elements that I can’t wait to learn more about in future novels in the series! As usual with this author, I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone who enjoys magically wonderful romantic battles and adventures.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author and publisher, via Barclay PR and NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
Forgotten Visions is book one in The Divinities series. It's a magical introduction.
We are introduced to several magical characters and creatures; witches, divinities, and demons. In this first installment we center around the murders that are happening in the magical community and who the divinities are.
Ayden and Kalissa knew each other a long time ago, but something happened to make Kalissa forget how important Ayden is to her. With that; their lives go in different directions and both have been hurt, emotionally. They must mend each others souls and learn to love again while navigating an evil bent on destroying the world and them. Unrequited love is painful and yet the author did a great job on pulling these two together and building the romance to where they both remembered, forgave, and loved again.
We get a lot of information in this first book, building of the world, war, and different characters. Which sets us up for more magical goodness. Their is also a mystery on who is killing off the divinities that are out in the world and why are they doing it? We learn a lot here. Magic is real and alive. Those that have the power must band together to protect the world from an ongoing threat.
It was a good start and introduction to The Divinities series. I’m curious to see where things go and who might find their magical partner next.
Rated: 3 Stars

In a world were magic exists and is known. The magickin (people of magic descent) live in there own communities and stay to themselves because although magic is known, they are still feared. Kalissia and her twin are what they call Divinities. They are decent from a magically line and have more powers and are meant to help protect the other magickin. When the twins parents, who are also divinities, die under mysterious circumstances, the girls start there own investigation. The investigation separates the twins and Klassia gets run off the road. Ayden gets sent to pick up Klassia. She is the last one he wants to see. They dated as teens and she broke his heart. As magickin they know who their magic mate is and he knew Klassia was the one for him. After a great summer visit as teens, he calls her only to find she is with someone else. They haven't talked in years. Now as adults and thrown in dangerous circumstances, they face each other. He wants to hate her but can't but doesn't understand her response. Klassia knows Ayden as a cousin of a friend and thinks he is cute but has no idea why he is giving her the cold shoulder. As the two learn more and more about each other, Ayden learns a spell has been cast on Klassia to make her forget him. He is bound and determined to either get her to remember or to have her fall in love with him again. Together with other magickin friends, they slowly unravel a mystery that surprises them all. Will Ayden and Klassia get back to were they need to be and will the group be enough to beat back the evil pursuing them all?
This was a very interesting story. I loved the story between Klassia and Ayden. You feel Ayden's heartache and the confusion in Klassia. The mystery evolves to were the series can continue for the battle of good and evil. The only thing thing I didn't like was I felt like I was exposed to too many characters all at once. I wish the story was more of what was going on between Klassia and Ayden. The mystery that I will not give away, will keep you going and is worth fighting for. Klassia really doesn't show her strengths until the end but she shows she can kick ass like the rest. Ayden is one of those characters you want to meant in person, loves to a fault and treats Klassia like a princess and is gorgeous (perfect hero)! Overall I enjoyed the book. I did fall in love with a few of the characters and look forward to seeing what happens to them.

NOTE: I won this book in a contest and loved it so much I had to write a review :)
WHAT I LIKED:
This was a fresh, fun paranormal romance. I love Greek mythology so I was naturally drawn to a contemporary paranormal romance centering around it. Who doesn't want the chance to have magic? I adored the characters of Kalissa and Ayden and really felt the connection between them. I'm not kidding when I say I kinda want Ayden for myself :) Lia did a great job of packing a lot of mystery into the pages and it's a great set up for the Divitinies series. This was a unique premise and at the end I was dying for the next book
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
This suffers from the same issue of so many other first novels of a series. There were a bunch of characters introduced all at once, and at times it could get overwhelming. It's hard because you have to walk a fine line between introducing enough characters to set up your future books, but not bogging down the central love story. I wanted more of Kalissa and Ayden.
OVERALL VERDICT: 4/5 Blue Duckies!
I really did love this book, but so many names got confusing and sometimes I had to go back and forth refreshing my memory of the characters. This is a problem I often see with the first novel of a series, so it's understandable. The core story was still wonderful and unique and I can't wait to read more from Lia!
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
I loved Kalissa and who the heck couldn't love Ayden? Ill be honest and say that I liked him a lot more than I liked Kalissa. It has to be hard to know someone is your mate and she doesn't really act that way towards you. It was heartbreaking to see him struggle and to see how she really had no idea. I loved watching their story progress.
I also loved the storyline itself. There are so many secrets and surprises. I was defiantly never bored. The only thing that bothered me a little was Kalissa... I know it wasn't her fault but come on! Ayden was perfect! He treated her like a queen and loved her even when she didn't know what was going on. I am super excited for the next book!!
The first time I heard about Lia Davis, I was curious about her books since I'd heard only good things about them - they are dramatic, breath taking, and absolutely captivating. So of course when I had the chance to read her Divinities series I jumped on it, wanting to see what all the hype was about. Let me tell you, the entire series was worth it! Each character so clearly described that you can easily picture them, the suspense so thick that you'd swear your heart was beating faster. When Kalissa comes back home with her twin sister, she can't understand why Ayden is so hurt by the fact that she can't remember everything that he claims happened between them 15 years ago. In the midst of trying to solve the murders of the elder Divinities, Kalissa and Ayden come to realize that someone or something wanted her to forget their time together... only Kalissa's past just might be the key in figuring out what's going on.
4 breath taking dreams
It's the type of novel that gives you hope that soul mates will always find one another no matter what the hurdles face the individuals. I really wanted that happy ending for these two since they had so many obstacles - some that actually kept them apart. It's clear that this series has to be read in sequence since I have more questions than answers, but for my first novel by Lia Davis - amazing!
Forgotten Visions is the first book in the Divinities series by Lia Davis. Ms. Davis, grabs the reader from the very first paragraph, and takes along for a paranormal ride that you wont soon forget. The story is filled with twists and turns that will have you intrigued all the way through. While I did enjoy the story and the will probably read the next one in the series, I have two issues. The first issue that I had was I thought that Kalissa and Khole were teenagers. I was probably through the 3rd chapter before I realized that they were actually adults.
The second issue I had was the presentation of the primary and secondary characters and the world they were in. I was left with a few questions. Like, humans knew about witches but not Divinities? How did Liam enter the picture? How did he work a memory spell if he didnt know what he was until later on. These questions do not take away from the story at all, and actually made me curious enought that I will probably read the next book in the series to see if these questions are answered. Plus, I want to know if something is going to develop with Zach and Lydia. And is there love in the future for Khloe?
For a first in the series, the author could have developed the story a little better, but it was still a good read and I will be back for the next installment.
This is the first book of a new witch series and as soon I read the summary the book became a wishlist. It’s started sounding different and intriguing, but over all of that I liked the romance and how after all the years these two discover a way to be together.
There some parts that just don’t click for me. Kalissa is very powerful and a divinities like her sister, her family and friends are also witches and she’s surrounded by love and power, but a strange guy shows up and put a spell on her without anyone noticing? Didn’t sound right, especially when nothing was done to prevent the relationship between these two.
I liked the adventure side and how all the divinities became together to vanquish once and for all the evil demons. Kalissa was really important to unite and make them work. These people are afraid but they do nothing to stop them.
I liked Ayden and how caring he became after realizing what happened on the past. He’s really a nice guy and he’s new love with Kalissa was really great to see, plus the sex scenes were good.
The first book in The Divinities series is a magical tale of witches and demons with a visit from a Goddess.
A group of people born to elite witch bloodlines known as Divinities are on a mission to protect a magical artifact and all magickin from demons. Kalissa has been unable to access her visions due to very painful headaches and seems to have lost some her memories. Ayden, the new Sheriff was hurt by Kalissa when they were young, but now they have to face the past and join with their new family to fight a war.
The author has created a captivating paranormal world with some unique elements, lots of action/suspense, fantastic bewitching characters and steamy romance. The story is well written and well balanced with lots of substance including some real world issues.
The author conveys the emotional turmoil that the main characters feel with a depth that connects the reader to their plight. You can feel the heat build as Kalissa and Ayden’s romance grows and you can feel the tension as the characters are confronted and attacked by their enemies. The battle scenes are depicted very vividly and the reader is entertained from beginning to end. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Forgotten Visions by Lia Davis is a wonderfully thought out and developed story world where magic is not just real, but known. Sadly, humans being our ‘wonderful’ selves are prone to prejudice even in her world. But, and it’s a big one, lol. . . The new sheriff and a deputy are Divinities and set out to help unravel the mystery surrounding the deaths of other Divinities (like Kalissa and Khloe’s parents).
Lia’s writing draws you in from page one and keeps you there until the very last word. Her characters make you care about them as if they were people you might live near or work with.
Ayden is meant for Kalissa, but 15 years ago they parted thanks to a new male entering her life. Now Ayden is back, trying to keep the other Divinities alive, and win her heart again, but what happens when her demonic ex returns from the dead? . . .
If you love romance with mystery and action, this is a MUST read! If you love magic with a heart, the grab a copy of Forgotten Visions and pray that book 2 comes along soon because you will fall in love with the character and world.
*Publisher provided eARC in exchange for honest review.
The world Lia Davis paints in Forgotten Visions is very cool. Her magikin exist and are known in the human world. There are witches and demons and nymphs and a two-headed dog named Teddy-Bear that I just adored. Magic and powers are everywhere and each character had one unique just to them.
The main heroine, Kalissa, is very relatable and I connected to her quickly. She's been through a lot and is finding her way. Her sexy counterpart, Ayden, is a great match for her and I really enjoyed their journey together. Ayden was definitely a dominant alpha male, but he showed a very tender side with Kalissa that I appreciated.
There were a LOT of names in this book and I did find myself going back and forth a few times to sort out who everyone was, but it was TOTALLY worth it. The storyline was very unique and I hope Lia Davis is planning on writing books for the other characters mentioned in this book. She did a fabulous job of building her world and I can't wait to join her in it again.
If you are looking for an exciting, action-packed, magical, romantic romp, look no further. Forgotten Visions will deliver.
A wonderfully rich start to a new fantasy series filled with witches, demons and other magical creatures...there's plenty of goodness within this story to capture the interest of the most discerning sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal fan. The story is filled with action and romance, combining with the other facets to make for an smoothly written book that leaves the door open for future stories and further character development.
The overall premise of a mystery of the deaths of the Divinity, special witches, gives the story a different flavor than just a fantasy story. There are layers to the mystery that are pulled back slowly as the story evolves to keep your imagination entertained throughout...in a fantastically captivating way.
This genre is outside of my wheelhouse, so this is the first book by this author I've read, and boy have I been missing out. She is truly a gift storyteller because I can tell you, she's got me believing these magical creatures actually exist! I look forward to reading more of her stories.
This book was provided by the Publisher and Netgalley, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
This is a good start to a series I cannot wait to read more of. Kalissa and her twin are devastated when their parents are killed in a car crash. It is even more disturbing for them since their parents aren't your typical humans, but Immortals. I loved seeing Kalissa and Khloe interact. The way they communicated was really neat. The way the author brought Kalissa and Ayden together, or back together, was great! Ayden is so hot! I felt so bad for him when he had to see Kalissa again. Though she broke his heart, he still has the pull to her that he has always had. Kalissa's memory loss is frustrating and I absolutely hated what had happened to her! Ayden was still perfect for her and the fighting in here was good! It was a 4/5 for me. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series, the characters are addictive!
Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
Forgotten Visions centers around murder in the magical community and the divinities within it.
In this first book we are introduced to a great group of characters. Everything from divinities, witches, demons, a two headed dog who goes by the names....Teddy and Bear....who I swear you will all head over heels in love with. The author takes great care in building A world that will Enthrall and mezmerize. The first book focuses on Kalissa and Ayden who are both divinities who are meant to be together but due to a memory spell she didn't remember that about them.
Get ready for a wild ride into a world full of magic, mayhem, suspense, and so much more. Once you open the first page the author will captive you with her Creation , you'll be bewitched by some rather fantastic characters and she'll trap you in a world that you won't want to escape. And the best part is a promise of more to come
This was a wonderful book! The divinities are such strong, passionate characters that are having to deal with some unfortunate situations! Lia Davis did an excellent job of portraying the "war" between the Divinities and the Demons while including such a sweet, touching love story! There were times I was completely lost in the book and couldn't put it down! The Divinity novel, Death's Storm was just released, which is Khloe's Story! I am looking forward to reading Death's Storm!
Forgotten Visions the first novel in the electrifying new Divinities series by Lia Davis starts off with a bang; has more twists, turns, ups and downs than a back country road through the Smokey Mountains and opens the door to a magical new world. Forgotten Visions is a very exciting, adventure that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. And is also a very romantic and passionate story!!!
Now this was a really well written full length book compared to he shifter series. I felt the emotional connection between Kalissa and Ayden. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
This is book one of The Divinities series and the main characters are twins Kalissa (Lis) and Khloe (Lo) Bradenton, who lost their parents in a car accident a couple of years ago. Lis works mainly in the family coffee shop, while Lo is a bit of a computer tech. They are not the average kind of witches either, both being born with an unusual DNA mutation that makes them Divinities, sort of like half goddesses, and so much more powerful too. Divinities are on Earth to protect humans and witchkin from demons. Lis has steered clear of relationships after her previous one with a human, Liam, was very abusive mentally and emotionally and he died of a heart attack, leaving her believing she had been responsible. What she doesn’t realise is that she actually loved another before Liam, but somebody wiped her memory some fifteen years ago and even things she should have known about her twin sister and family, are missing from her mind. Her magically powers have never been quite the same since, with her visions being sporadic and she tried to force them off. When she is run off the road and nearly killed, her ex-boyfriend Ayden Daniels come to pick her up from the hospital, being the closest one there as he was just finalising stuff before taking up the position as sheriff in Maxville, where they were all raised and most still live.
Ayden has been investigating a series of Divinity murders, most in a similar fashion as Kalissa’s car accident, and he hadn’t been keen to see the one woman he gave his heart to, face to face again. When he does, he triggers a vision in her and she even sees her own parent’s crash and the demon who caused it. Ayden brings old feelings and a new flame to spark within Lis and she wants to see what she can do to get them back to how they used to be. Her memories are returning slowly and her visions are increasing. Ayden’s special power as a Divinity is adaptability, where he can use another’s powers when he is around them, meaning he can pick up on his cousin Zach’s empathic powers and sense how confused Lis really is about him and that she truly doesn’t know about their relationship form the past. They start on a new relationship, with Ayden struggling to hide his anger and resentment over all the years that have been wasted, whilst Lis has to deal with finding lost memories and earning his trust. When a demonic figure from the past comes for Lis and wants her to be his, Ayden and the others must do all they can to stop him and get her back before it’s too late. They are in the middle of an ancient battle between the witches and demons, which has already cost some of them lots. Lots happening on top of this light touch of romance between the old flames, with the majority of the story really on the fight between good and evil and bring in an ancient relic that must be safe guarded from the demons. You learn more about both sides as the story goes on and there is obviously much more to come in this epic battle between the worlds. So I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I received an ARC copy of this book form BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Convinced her parent's deaths’ wasn’t an accident, coffee shop owner, Kalissa, with a gift to see visions, sets out to find their murderer. A clue leads her to Charlotte, Carolina, into the arms of former lover and destined mate, Ayden Daniels. The problem is, she doesn’t seem to remember him. Fifteen years earlier, Kalissa had broken Ayden’s heart and dumped him for someone else. Someone had taken her memory of him. Someone desperate enough to see them apart.
Together(Ayden and Kalissa ), embark on a dangerous journey to find their parents’ and other special people like them’s (Divinities- born to rare and ancient bloodlines bearing a unique birthmark of a vivid red rose)murderer.
As it turns out, Demetrius, a demon under the direction of Khan, has been hunting down Divinities to get hold of the Sinew necklace, in order to harvest their powers. Each man has a different motive. Khan is a Dark Divine, a half witch and half demon, cast away from the coven for his darker side. Demetrius wants to avenge his father’s death, at the hands of the witch, Hecate.
United again, the Divinities, defenders of the magickin, have to find and protect the Sinew. Now they have taken charge of it. But the demons will stop at nothing to get it back. And working with them is none other than Liam, Kalissa’s ex-boyfriend, believed to be dead and the culprit responsible for her memory loss. Liam is a half-demon, raised by a demon father, who wanted to blend in with humans by suppressing his son’s nature, branding him psychotic. His obsession with Kalissa leads to his demise and a happy ending for her and Ayden.
The book ends with a cliff-hanger for next time.
I give this book four hearts for one reason only. It’s just one of those good kinda boring books. The plot will trick you into following the story, but the writing technique could use a little oomph. Would I read the next book in the series? Most definitely!
Forgotten Visions by Lia Davis is the first book of her Divinities series. This is a re-release of an earlier book. Lia Davis is a master at writing about the paranormal. Forgotten Visions has everything. It is full of intrigue, power, lust, betrayal, magic, gods, evil, demons, family, friendship and love. The suspense will have you at the edge of your seat. Kalissa is a Divinity. Which means she is more than a witch. Her and her twin Khloe, also a Divinity, were born with god like powers. When their parents are killed they must set out on a path to learn the truth and find a way to protect the world from demons and the evil they follow. Ayden is the new sheriff in Maxville were Kalissa and Khloe grew up and still live. He is also a Divinity. He has rare abilities, divine gifts. He's parents have also been mysteriously killed in an accident. He knows there's something going on that the Elder Divinities deaths are not accidents. They are being killed one couple at a time. Now it's up to him and the rest of the younger Divinities to stop the murders and protect all of magikin and humanity from evil. Kalissa doesn't remember much about Ayden. She believes they only knew each other in passing as children. Ayden remembers everything. He knows they are fated mates. He never understood why she shut him out and walked away from him 15 years ago. When the Elders start to die in accidents, he's sure they are murders, he is forced back into Kalissa's life. Even though he is heartbroken he will do what he can to protect her. Visions Kalissa can't explain start to form in her mind. Bits and pieces of a forgotten past. Visions of friendship, love and a life she doesn't remember get stronger the more time she spends with Ayden. Could she have forgotten the love she feels for him? If so why? Who would have taken her memories away? Why would anyone do that to her? Kalissa's forgotten visions may hold the key to her future. Possibly the key to everyone's future. Lia Davis has a wonderful way of telling a story. Her ability to bring her readers into her books is fantastic. Forgotten Visions is a tale full of everything a reader can hope for in a paranormal book. I can't wait to read the next book, Death's Storm. So many questions and hopes yet to be answered. I received an ARC for my honest review
This is the first book in The Divinities series. This story revolves around Kalissa, a witch and a Divinity (good side) and Ayden, another Divinity. Khloe, Kalissa’s sister, plays a prominent part as do other Divinities, Zach, Lydia, Noah and others. The story is about the Divinities finding a very important source of power, the Sinew, and protecting it from the demons. Many of the prior generations of these folks have already been killed by demons, so it falls to this current generation to forge ahead to find and safeguard the Sinew. Unfortunately, it seems like their powers have been partially unknown or not fully formed yet so they have some quick learning to do. The book slowed down a bit in the middle but picked up again as the Divinities became more aware of their powers and how to use them. I believe the future books in this series will continue to show that development.
Kalissa saw her parent’s car rolling got her twin Khloe and went to the place there she saw the man standing in the rood that caused the accident. They weren’t the first divinities killed and some are missing. Ayden came back to be sheriff and didn’t understand why Kalissa rejected him as her magical partner 17 years ago. Zach told them not to investigate the accident but Kalissa went to where the clues left then on the way she was ran off the road and her car totaled, Ayden picked her from the hospital he searched her mind and there a blank hole in her memories that is why she had acted as she did after the accident some of her missing memories started coming back. They worked their back together plus trying to get rid of demons. Good book!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Definitely a interesting start for a new series. But I was expecting more romantic angst especially since was a second chance at love story which I'm a totally sucker for but I wanted to see Kalissa and Ayden struggling with their emotions. But then again I guess that just me. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read it was a great introduction to The Divinities series I'm also curious to see what going to happen next in the series and who is going to find their magical partner next. I voluntarily read and review this ARC I haven't been compensated in any way.
This wasn't quite what I was expecting from the title of the series, The Divinities, I was expecting stories about the gods, and this is so much more. I loved the whole concept of demons, witches, super witches, hell hounds….. and a few gods thrown in for good measure. The world building is intricate and complex, and sucked me right in. I adored the characters who all have their flaws and fall mostly in the grey range of moral ethics. Beautifully written and constructed, this is a fantastic opening to a series.
I think part of this might be the whole first book in a series thing, where a lot of stuff has to be established and sometimes the story suffers. Or it could just be a style thing and this author isn't mine. Which is a shame because there's so much to like in this and it ticks off so many things on the "Yes Please" list for me. I can't even say it's failed potential, I think the author succeeded in what they were going for.
I am left dissatisfied with the story but I wouldn't say don't read it cuz it's not the story's fault.
Forgotten Visions is book one and a great start to The Divinities series. Kalissa is missing many years of memories from her life. She has a twin and together they have been searching for answers to the deaths of their parents. Ayden is the new sheriff and has a past with Kalissa but it's part of her lost memories. This was an interesting and unique storyline filled with intriguing characters, great writing, and an ending that left me looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
