Zane Shaw isn't the type to cower in a corner, until he meets Honor Sullivan. She's the most phenomenal woman he's ever met, but he's been burned before and so he's doomed to fall for her from a distance. If only his past hadn't left him so weary, perhaps he could be the man he was raised to be.
Honor Sullivan has too much at stake to get distracted by a man. But Zane Shaw isn't just any man. He's smart, gorgeous, and a survivor like her. Which is why she knows, deep down, that he deserves someone better than her. Someone whole and undamaged. Yet she can't seem to contain the way he makes her feel.
These two jaded souls with an instant connection just might find that true love is a joy best savored in the aftermath of life's hardships and pain.
The third installment of The Cliffside Bay Series by bestselling author Tess Thompson follows the interwoven stories of five best friends, the beach community they love, and the women who captivate them. Prepare to get lost in a wave of small town charm, men you would love to take home to your mother, and smart, resilient heroines you wished lived next door.
Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.
Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.
She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.
Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.
She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.
She adores hearing from readers, so don’t hesitate to say hello or sign up for her newsletter: http://tesswrites.com/. You’ll receive an ebook copy of her novella, The Santa Trial, for your efforts.
This is one of the very best series I have ever read. Each book is told from a couple’s view.
Some of my favorite quotes in this book are: Honor Sullivan, I’m so madly in love with you I can’t eat or sleep or think. I want you next to me, now and for the rest of my life.
Last night, as she fell asleep in his arms, he swore right then and there that no one would ever hurt her again. Not if he could do anything about it.
Don’t chase after something that’s already gone. Don’t chase after what never belonged to you in the first place.
“‘Don’t let fear of loss keep you from loving with your whole heart.’ I’d forgotten that,” Zane said. “I should’ve had that one tattooed on my forearm.”
“It’s terrifying to be a human because of our capacity for love,” Maggie said. “So, we can only do what Hugh told us t odo. Cherish our relationships. And have on hell of a good time while we can.”
He looked directly into her eyes. “Honor Sullivan, you’re my destiny. We were brought together through a force greater than ourselves, far beyond our understanding, because we belong together. Nothin can pull us apart now. Giving love to someone who needs it will only make our love stronger.”
She would do this girl justice. For Hugh. For Ronny. For the little girl she once was. The girl no one wanted. Jubie would never have to feel unwanted or unloved.
“Lavonne never forgot her because she was good to him when seh didn’t have to be. An abused little girl tried to protect a little boy who couldn’t protect himself. It’s easy to be benevolent when your life has been filled with love and abundance. To give kindness to others when no one’s been kind to you- to protect someone else when your’re hurting and scared- this is the measure of a great person.”
Yet, without your own suffering, it was nearly impossible to understand others’ pain.
This is my family. I am alive.
All of those have special meaning to me and made this book so touching, emothional and wonderful.
Jaded is Zane and Honor’s story. A love that took a while to come. Not because they didn’t love, but because they were both afraid of love.
Zane has abandonment issues. His mother then his fiancé left. He is afraid if he gives his heart to Honor that she will hurt his too. He’s not rich like the other dogs. But he is a hard worker. A smart and very good looking man. He has a heart of gold and is willing to give his all. He loves Honor with every ounce of love in him.
Honor is a very broken young woman. She’s been through so much in her life. Going from foster home to foster home. Then group homes. Abused, abandoned, told she was never going to be loved. She believed it. So many things were taken from her yet she still found the capacity to love and be loved. To give love to others in such an unselfish way.
This book was so full of emotion. So filled with love, pain, heartbreak and the glue to bring two people together who had so many fears. They have the capacity to give love to everyone, even a stranger who needs them more than they will ever know. I loved it from start to finish.
Thank you Tess Thompson for writing this series, this book especially. It touched my heart in so many ways. Now I can’t wait for the next book in this sweet, heartfelt series.
I am in awe at how good this series is! I am totally involved in the lives of the characters in these stories. I want to know what's going to happen to each of them and how their HEA comes about.
Jaded is the story of Zane and Honor. I believe that the word I would use to describe them is "overcomers". They each have come from a past that has haunted them for years. Zane has to overcome his fear of abandonment and rejection. Honor has to overcome her fears of abuse, brokeness, and self doubt that she could be loved by anyone.
There are so many kinds of tears to be cried. I believe I cried every kind of tear that can be cried reading this book. So many kinds of emotions I felt while I was "living" this story with Zane and Honor. My heart was in anguish at times and my tears were streaming. I had joy at the "overcoming" moments and rejoiced with the characters.
I love that each book includes all the Cliffside characters...which I hesitate to call characters because I have become so attached to them all. I am so looking forward to the next book which will seem like a long time because I want to read it now! I am so anxious to continue reading the story of the Cliffside Bay family!
Thank you, Tess Thompson, for a fantastic and wonderful story and the opportunity to read it. These books are page turners, hard to put down, can't stop reading and I believe they are more than five star reads.
With each of Tess Thompson’s Cliffside Bay books, I feel that “surely, this one can’t be topped!” But Thompson proves me wrong time and time again as each book I read becomes my favorite! So is the case with Jaded: Zane and Honor (Cliffside Bay #3). The depth of these characters makes them so real to me. I wish I could be a member of their sacred friendship circle! This book has intrigue and dreamy romance. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
I am seriously blown away by this entire series ! They just keep getting better and better! Tess Thompson has a way of making the reader feel like family to this group of friends from Cliffside Bay! This is Zane and Honor’s story and I have been waiting to get to know these two better ! Two people So right for each other , only they fight it at every turn. This book delved deeper into all lives of those we have met along the way into this series and I love that every book not only has everyone in it but continues everyone’s stories ! This book had so many twists and turns that I was so surprised where it took me and I can’t wait for the next story in this series ! Please do not pass this series up!
Come read Jaded and fall in love with Zane and Honor!! Tess Thompson just keeps outdoing herself with every book that she writes! Her Cliffside Bay Series are absolutely a must read and Jaded Is the best one yet! I have fallen in love with Zane and Honor and there’s something special about this one that pulls you in and makes you feel like you’re part of the story and makes you not want to ever leave, you’ll find yourself rooting for these two from the beginning! It’s touched home with me on so many different levels and I even shed a few tears cause it touched me so deeply! There are quotes in this book that makes your heart melt! I was mesmerized by this book! Tess, you’ve outshined yourself and you should be proud of this series!!
It was a little harder for me to get into than Deleted, but once there, I really enjoyed it. Zane had been deserted by his mom and his fiancee, so he didn't think love was real. Honor had been hurt so many times, she was totally jaded for love and life. For these two to be able to fully love one another would almost take a miracle. With the Dogs and their friends, they finally realize that true love is possible.
What an absolutely wonderful read. This series just gets better and better.
This is Zane and Honor's story and one I have been eagerly awaiting. Despite pasts that were less than ideal, both Zane and Honor approach life with a positive albeit wary attitude.
I am so in love with Cliffside Bay, the Dogs and their ladies to the point that I am totally unable to take my time and savor the read. Once started there is no stopping until I've reached the end of the book. Thankfully I love to reread books, so that the savoring can come with the second read.
Look forward to smiles, laughs and even tears as these two work toward their HEA.
For now, I'll be eagerly awaiting Kyle's and Violet's story.
Jaded: Zane and Honor (Cliffside Bay Series Book 3) by Tess Thompson Jaded is an inspiration. Honor and Zane are not victims, but survivors. From ugliness blooms beauty. Tess Thompson shines a light on subjects that many choose to ignore. She tackles heartbreak with the strength and grace of a snowflake. The impact lives on, but never defines. There will be tears, but out of the sorrow is where the hope begins. Thus the healing power of love.
Each book in this series is more emotional then the last! Honor is so broken because of her awful childhood but she is so caring and wants to show the world that she's a survivor, she's tough, she doesn't need anyone and she is a success! Zane is head over heels in love with Honor but he has major abandonment issues so he's afraid to open his heart and let her in... Honor loves Zane but she's also keeping her walls up! These 2 stubborn and broken souls will find that they are stronger together and can face anything as long as they have each other! I was sucked into this book from the get go and I'm looking forward to more amazing books in this series!
And this is the 3rd installment in the Cliffside Bay series, and although it works as a stand alone, I do recommend reading the books in in order , so you can fully enjoy meeting all the wonderful characters. This story is Honor and Zane's. And each of their stories touched parts of my own, in many different ways, which made it all the more emotional for me. More than a love story, it's filled with the harsh realities of life, with love and loss, sweetness and sorrow. This book made me long to live there, to have friends who stick together through thick and thin, who lift one another up and dig in when things get tough. Thompson is a wonderful writer, her characters are unique and expressive. Hugh's storyline nearly did me in, although not maudlin, it was grimly realistic. Quite contemporary and extremely compelling. I have a warning though....be careful when reading this in public. I was at my desk and the uncontrollable snuffling made someone ask me if I was ok, with a look of alarm on his face. Yes, I'm fine...just enjoying this fantastic trip to the Pacific Northwest...sigh....
I enjoyed both Traded and Deleted but Jaded is my favorite Cliffside Bay book to date. It touches on many things. This book gave me the feels in so many ways. Abandonment, rape, Alzheimer’s, personal loss, betrayal … and the heart’s incredible ability to keep fighting, to not give up hope no matter how huge and seemingly unsurmountable the difficulties are that life inevitably tosses in our paths. It’s a story about how a person can be knocked down time and time again, how they can feel defeated and scared, and how they still have the capability of making their dreams come true regardless. It’s a story about how life can be unpredictable, in both good and bad ways, and about how things can work out even if the odds feel helplessly stacked against us.
This book made me cry. Big, fat, ugly tears. But it also gave me an enormous amount of hope. This book was an event. Congratulations, Ms. Thompson. What a beautiful achievement.
What an exquisite love story this is. I loved this book! Zane and Honor are meant to be together. This story is filled with romance and lots of love. It also has drama and loss. It is a quick and easy read. I simply could not put it down. This is a book about love, friends and family, but also so much more. The characters are well developed and true to life. I fell in love with them all. The dialogue is so good and made me feel a part of the story. I was immersed in this book. I could not put it down. The writing is superb and the story flows smoothly. It did make me cry at times but that means it made me feel and that is what a good book does, it makes you feel. This book touched my heart in so many ways. I can't wait to read this authors other books. I highly recommend this book to all who like a great love story. You don't want to miss out on this one.
Each book in the series is better than the last. No one tells a story quite like Tess Thompson. I had to finish it , I had to know what happened. All of her characters feel like your friends and your family and you feel invested in them. Yes it's a love story but it's way more than that. There is always a bit of mystery and danger and yes sadness mixed into the story. I have never finished one of her books without crying, never. That's a good thing as I am not easily moved to tears. You can read Jaded without reading the previous 2 books in the series but if you want it to get the full effect, the full story and all of the emotions I highly recommend that you read the first two. Then you will be hooked and waiting for each new book in the series to come out. Well worth reading. It's a beautiful book.
This is what we have been waiting for since the first book in this series! It has been a long time coming!!!! Technically this could be a stand alone, but I think that you get more of the 'feels' if you have read the other books in the series first. Lots more anticipation to make the climax that much better ;) I loved the mystery to this book. I did not see that coming! But I loved how their story wrapped up and they got the HEA. But man oh man, the back stories of these two! Just breaks my heart! Especially Honor. I just want to give her such a big hug. She is so strong! Zane is a great book boyfriend, Honor is a lucky woman. (And Zane better count his blessings for winning over Honor!)
This is the third book in the Cliffside Bay series, and it was just as good as the first two. I was so glad to see the two main characters get their happily ever after. One of my favorite things about this series is the touch of suspense in the stories. It really grabs me and keeps my attention!
So far Jaded is my favorite of the series!! I absolutely adore Honor and Zane and how they overcame their own problems and issues to find true love and happiness in each other. I can’t wait to continue catching glimpses of them through the other stories coming.
When Zane Shaw falls for a girl, he falls hard. But he’s been abandoned by every women he’s ever loved, and is terrified of making a move. He’s infatuated with Honor, especially after the spectacular night they had together, but he feels doomed before their relationship even has a chance to start.
Honor Sullivan has been through more than any person should be, but she’s always picked herself up and gotten through it. She’s successful and loves her career and friends. She’s also had a crush on Zane for years, but feels her deserves better than her . . . she’s broken in ways even her closest friends don’t know about. But, she can’t get him out of her head no matter how uninterested he seems to be.
When Zane and Honor finally work through their own baggage and decide to give a relationship a try, it’s magical! But, the path to their happy ever after won’t be easy and they’ll both need to learn to let their pasts and insecurities go so they can have a brilliant future together.
I swear, The Cliffside Bay series keeps getting better with each book! Tess Thompson has done an amazing job of making each couple’s story unique to them while also interweaving the stories of all five best friends and the women they fall in love with together to create a gorgeous tapestry readers can’t help but to fall in love with!
I’ve been itching for Zane and Honor’s story from book one, and Jaded gave me all the feels! Both Zane and Honor have serious baggage. Zane was abandoned by his mother, had his childhood crush fall in love with his best friend and was left at the altar by his fiance a week before their wedding. It’s no wonder he totally fears commitment.
Honor’s past is completely heartbreaking. I’m not sharing why, because it’s integral to the plot, but you can’t help but to be inspired by her. I was thrilled to see her finally open up to not only Zane but the rest of their friends as well.
Together, Zane and Honor can make each other whole. It’s beautiful and magical and the story Tess has gifted this couple with is truly an amazing read. There are moments of sadness and amazing moments that will leave readers breathless and smiling ear to ear. I can guarantee that their happy ever after isn’t one you see coming but it fits this couple so well you can’t help but be thrilled for them. 5 stars for this fabulous tale of loss, perseverance and love!
This is the third book in the Cliffside Bay Series by Tess Thompson.
Despite the chemistry that is obvious to everyone, except Zane and Honor, the two are meant to be together forever. No good love story is free of past baggage, and these two have a bunch.
Zane has abandonment issues from since he was born, which were only reinforced when his bride called off their wedding only a few days before the big day and walked away. Since then, Zane pretty much swore of the possibility of love and focused on his bar, "The Oar," and making sure that his father, Hugh, was being properly taken care of at the Memory Care Facility. Despite his best efforts, he can't deny that he is madly in love with Honor, even if he won't allow himself to declare it. He's simply not good enough for her.
Honor is a smart, sophisticated, beautiful woman with a dark past that she hasn't shared with the Dogs or the girls. Everyone knows that she has a past, and she doesn't share it. She was taken from her mother when she was six years old and put into foster care, where bad things happened. And, then when she was eighteen, she was diagnosed with cancer, which left her unable to have children. So, even if Honor wanted to admit that she was madly in love with Zane, she wouldn't be able to give him a family, so why should she put herself out there and suffer that pain. Zane deserves an unbroken woman, a full woman, certainly not Honor.
BUT, there's always a but, or else we readers wouldn't get so engrossed in these novels....but, when Honor's past threatens to destroy her present, she is forced to reveal her secrets to everyone. When Zane hears that her life is in danger the two FINALLY admit that they love each other (with some prompting from the guys and gals). Determined to keep Honor safe from harm, their relationship blossoms...but not without some unexpected complications. Can their love overcome the complications?
This novel is a roller coaster ride of emotions. The writing is well done, easy to get into and hard to put down. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series.
Jaded: Zane and Honor (Cliffside Bay Series Book 3)
Jaded is the third book in Tess Thompson’s Cliffside Bay series. If you haven’t read the other two, no worries, she keeps you informed on what has gone on in previous books, but you will fall in love with the characters and want to go and read the ones you have missed. Ms. Thompson is known for developing rich characters in her novels. You will feel like best friends or members of the family when you are finished with her books. Jaded is about Honor Sullivan and Zane Shaw. Both have a Jaded look on life because of childhood experiences. Neither trust anyone enough to open up their hearts easily. After years of fighting the attraction they feel for one another, can they put aside their pasts so they can trust and love again? Honor has secrets in her past that makes her feel unworthy of love from anyone, let alone a man to spend the rest of her life with. Zane was engaged to a women who called off the wedding at the last minute. Will he be able to open up his heart and be vulnerable again? Though both characters were in previous books in the series, Ms Thompson develops the characters so by the end of the book you can’t help but be on in love with both characters Jubie is a new character introduced in this book. She is a 7 year old girl who shares a lot in common with Sullivan and things Sullivan went through as a child. She might be just what Zane and Sullivan need to heal from their past wounds and move on with their lives. They will most certainly help Jubie deal with the hardship she is in the middle of. If you have already read Traded and Deleted, you will find all of your favorite characters in Jaded and get an update on what is happening in their lives. At the end of the book you will likely want to look for the hidden town of Cliffside Bay live in this beautiful well loved coastal town. It is very hard for me to write book reviews because i am always afraid I will give away too much of the story. Trust me and give Zane and Honor a chance. You may fall in love like I did and like they did.
In book 3 of the Cliffside Bay series, Zane Shaw and Honor Sullivan take center stage. We met them in books 1 and 2 and know that they are hesitant to admit their feelings. For a recap - Zane's mother left when he was a baby and he was raised by his father. Honor was in foster care from age 6 on. Her mother was a drug addict who passed away when Honor was 10. So, neither person trusts the opposite sex. Zane had been engaged to Natalie, but she called the wedding off days before the wedding and ran off with a bridesmaid's husband. The series cast of characters appears in Jaded and adds to the book. The series involves a group of friends formed from living in Cliffside Bay and college. Zane Shaw is a Cliffside Bay from birth resident. Honor Sullivan is a Cliffside Bay by chance and/or work resident.
In this story, the author deals compassionately about an illness that is becoming more publicized - Alzheimer's. She also deals with foster care, child abuse, and the power of friendship.
This story has answers to questions from previous books, twists that I did not see coming, and an ending which left me wanting for more after I recovered from a heart-stopping incident. It was an easy read, although I started a character tree to remember who is related to who, whose parent died during the character's childhood, and parent names. I keep adding to it as I read the other books in this series.
This series has highlighted Brody and Kara, Jackson and Maggie, and now Zane and Honor. I hope we will learn more about Lance, Kyle, Sophie, Violet, and Mary in future books. I cannot forget Janet Mullen and Jon Waller and Flora and Dax either!
This was the first book I read from this series and I immediately got books 1 and 2 to get more background information.
I admit it took me a while to get through this book, because it almost broke me. We finally learn more about Honor's past. She was diagnosed at a young age with ovarian cancer and had to have a full hysterectomy and oophorectomy. Not only can I not have kids myself, but I lost my aunt to ovarian cancer right about the same time this book came out. And then there is the whole storyline of Zane dealing with his father Hugh's Alzheimer's. The same month I lost my aunt to ovarian cancer, my mother succumbed to her many years of battling Alzheimer's. I cried so hard throughout this book because I was able to relate to these storylines, and Tess captured the emotions so well. Even though I call myself a writer, i don't know if I could quite capture them as well.
In spite of those hardships in the noel, there are the beautiful parts as well. We get to know Sophie, who is Zane and Maggie's half-sister. To fully appreciate her story, read Book 2, Deleted.
Honor and Zane have had tension between the two of them for years, but are now hopefully going to battle through it all. Honor has stuff creep up from her past. Zane is dealing with many life changes. He is still struggling with his fiancee leaving him and is trying to achieve his dream of a brewery. And he never got over his mother's abandonment.
Honor grew up in the foster system and has always had to fend for herself. Neither one thinks they are good enough for the other.
This book has those moments of clarity that are just so rare and beautiful in life. This amazing twist of fate series serves to heal wounds. I love how Zane calls them their "perfect storm." Very well done.
I can't begin to tell you how much I love this series. I fell hard and fast for Zane. This man has really been through it all. It's hard for him to find a way to trust, anyone especially opening his heart to another woman. Zane has loved Honor for almost four years. But in that time, not once has he let his guard down and put himself out there. Part of me felt sorry for him. His past just, well it sucks. He's been through things no one should ever have to go through and well he honestly has baggage. That being said, there was one part of Zane that well, it kind of pissed me off. You'll understand why. I understand why Zane was the way he was, but it just rubbed me wrong. He was such a stand up guy until that part of him shows up. The green eyed monster is ugly on everyone.
Oh Honor. They things this woman has endured in her life. She's been through hell and back and come out so much stronger on the other side. I loved everything about her. She was feisty, sassy, and a little shy. She really didn't step outside her comfort zone that often, but it was fun to watch her when she did. I loved how Honor truly overcame all the hurdles life put in her way. I love how it made her stronger in the end.
I think out of all the books in this series, Honor and Zane might be my favorite. I have to get past Zane's issues, but once I did, I fell in love with this amazing story. I can't want to see what Tess Thompson has for us next. I promise you will fall in love with this series. Please check it out.
Jaded is Zane and Honor’s story. It is the third book in the Cliffside Bay Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend starting with Traded. You won’t regret it.
These books are amazing! I wish I could give this book 10 stars, it’s just that good. Have a box of Kleenex because this book has all the feels. At times I was hopeful, angry, sad, heartbroken and overcome with joy. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough or put it down. All of the characters seem so real, it’s like you are right there beside them and watching it all play out.
If you’ve never been to Cliffside Bay, it’s a very small town in California, that’s off the map. Everyone knows everyone, and they don’t like outsiders. Zane was born and raised there. He took over the family business after college. Honor moved to Cliffside Bay at the age of 18, after inheriting property from an Aunt she never knew. Honor has had a crush on Zane since the first time she met him, but he went away to college. Well, let’s just say, he notices her now!
Both characters are broken in their own way. They are both dealing with abandonment and not feeling worthy of love. Join them in their journey that takes them through dealing with tragedy and loss, confronting the past, everything happens for a reason and realizing that family isn’t only just by blood. Family is who you choose to surround yourself with, and that that can be enough.
Another thing I love about this book, is that we still get to catch up on all of the other characters. Cliffside Bay is such a wonderful place, you’ll never want to leave!
We finally get Honor and Zane story. From the very first book you see that these two clearly have feelings for each other but refuse to act on it. They are both stubborn in their own ways and have issues from their past that prevents them from moving forward in certain things.
In the first two books Honor is portrayed as a badass but in this book you realize how vulnerable and strong she actually is. She’s been thru somethings during her childhood and early adult years that none of the friends knew about. When she finally told them it made sense on why she was the way she was.
Zane also had some issues with his mother abandoning him and his fiancé leaving him at the altar. But for Honor he would do anything. These two dances around their feelings until it was inevitable. He was Honor’s rock when her past surfaced and she was also there for him at a time that he needed someone. Their relationship was going in the right direction until something unexpected happened. When this incident occurred Honor realized how loyal her friends were which she didn’t consider friends anymore but more as her family.
These friends as always are very entertaining, fierce and loyal. It’s never a dull moment when they are all together and I enjoy reading their growth. I can’t wait to read about Kyle because he’s the one against commitment in this entire group. It will be a joy to read he getting tamed.
These books just keep getting better and better in this series. Yet this one can be a standalone. I was so curious about Zane and Honor and sometimes they seemed to hate each other, and yet, you knew there was something more there. This book gives us that "something more" and in the best possible way.
Both Zane and Honor haven't always had it all, and even now Zane struggles to feel like he is enough. He owns the bar that his dad use to have, but he isn't "overly successful" and doesn't think he is good enough for Honor. He was raised by only his dad, and then his fiancé left him, of course he is going to think women won't stick around. Honor grew up in the system and with her past, she didn't think anyone could love her and that she was "broken". Both Zane and Honor loved the other from afar. Everyone knew, but the other.
I love this group of friends, they will be there for each other and push them to do things and tell them the truth no matter what. I love seeing them come together, like the did when it came to Honor. I loved the little bit of drama/mystery that that particular storyline entailed...otherwise the main drama was the will they/won't they.
Honor and Zane are two of the best people and both deserve the best. If you want to see a story of true love and resilience and sticking by others (friends and lovers) this is the book for you!
Two jaded people with heartbreaking pasts come together to mend each other's broken hearts. Honor is the girl nobody loved. She grew up in the foster system and it wasn't until she found her way to Cliffside Bay that she met Zane's father and began to set roots down. Zane was abandoned by his mother as a baby but had a loving father that was always there for him. However, after having a fiance' walk out on him he's beginning to wonder if he's worth being loved or do all women just leave?
This was a cute little romantic read to kind of cleanse my palate from all my suspense and thriller books that I tend to get myself engulfed in. I do think a lot of the story was repetitive. There were just a few places where I was like "Oh we're having this conversation again. Can I just skip a page or two?" It also probably didn't help that I started on book three of the series. That might have helped a little more with the background but even so I felt there was enough detail in this story that it was fine to read as a standalone. I also want to note that I'm in a sour mood towards love the past couple weeks so I might just be jaded myself and taking it out on this book. It was still worth the read and it was a quick read so I definitely enjoyed that.
Another great read by this author. Zane and Honor have been building a love for each other for longer than they have actually been in love. This is finally their story, with a few twists and turns here and there. I like Zane in the two books before this one so it was wonderful to be able to get into his head and hear his story. It's not an overly sad one, but he's had enough of his own pain to add to his troubles. I feel bad for him that love from the people he wanted it from (minus his father) came hard and he had to deal with that harsh reality. But I'm glad that he found his HEA. I also loved the letter from his dad and that he already knew about his sister prior to the letter (you find out about her in Deleted). Honor has always been a wonderful character. I'll be honest and admit that she hasn't always been my favorite, but I did enjoy getting her story. She's a ball buster, and a good one at that. She's had a lot of pain in her life, pain that no one should have to go through. So I'm glad that she's finally getting that love that she didn't think she'd ever get. These two are wonderful together and I'm glad I got into their heads. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
This story had me crazy in all kind of ways. On one hand, Zane wanted Honor badly, but with all of his abandonment issues, he really made some questionable douchey decisions throughout. So yeah, even though I loved him, he drove me crazy so much. Then there's Honor, who wants Zane as well, but because of her past, she feels like he needs someone else better for him. So the push & pull was insane, and I found myself so very frustrated as I was reading. But that didn't make me put it down, nope, I needed to see how it all panned out, and trust me, there was so much more to this emotional story. The talented Tess Thompson really brought her A-game to the table, as there was so much going on, along with all of my emotions being out to play. If that whole frustration of these two fearful people didn't keep me turning the pages, then there were a ton of twists to give it a suspense feel that had me on the edge of my seat with f-bombs dropping. And finally, there was the entertaining cast of secondaries from the previous books, that only added more depth, and in some cases, humor to the mix. This was a fantastic story that I devoured in one sitting, and I cannot wait for more in this series! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Ahhhh, Zane and Honor. What a wild ride these two are taking! Just when I think I have everything figured out, and “happily ever after” is just around the corner, Tess Thompson throws us a curve ball! You just never know what is coming on the next page of this amazing book.
One of my favorite things about this book is the fact that Tess Thompson doesn’t write perfect characters. They are not all gorgeous and perfect, they are flawed. They have abandonment issues, “I’m not good enough” issues and on and on. They are so human and so like we all are. You become a part of their family by reading through their imperfections and fears and joys. I have come to love Cliffside Bay through these beautifully imperfect people. They speak to me of life and love and all that creates a family. Jaded is about family, and the fact that family can be the people that love you and surround you with safety and pure joy. Family doesn’t have to be biological. Family is purely love and caring and knowing who is always there for you.
I love this book, and hope that you will love it too. I highly recommend it! Five stars!
