Evil is winning.

The Light Realm could always find solace in the fact that they were five kingdoms strong, giving them power over the Dark Realm for centuries. But following the events of the uprising, one kingdom has cut ties with the Light to join forces with the opposition, tipping the balance of power. And in a war being fought on multiple fronts, spanning across nine kingdoms, numbers are vital.

After a year of being sequestered in Dunami Palace, Bryson LeAnce has finally been given freedom to participate in the war in hopes to turn the tides. The Jestivan will discover methods of penetrating enemy lines with the help of a crafty spy; they will visit the homeland of the Rogue Demon, blazing a trail on the way to finding answers about his past; and they will stumble upon an opportunity that could gain them an ally from the most unexpected corner of the world.

Meanwhile, a chronicle sits on the bottom of the sea, its existence unknown to most. After a decade of preparing to hunt it, the time has come for one Jestivan to embark on the greatest voyage ever. One discovery will be certain...

David F. Farris

David F. Farris was that kid who spent all of his birthday money on Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards. They started his love of storytelling. He’d create his own Pokemon, draw them, give them a biography, physical measurements, attacks, etc. As he grew older—into a bigger kid—he began to draw cartoons through the same process, except in more detail this time. He even drew a block-by-block detailed map of an imaginary city across eight sheets of graph paper. He’d dabble in writing short stories because of his love of Harry Potter, but his specialty was drawing.

Creative writing didn’t become a strong passion until 12th grade, when he wrote a mock epic; The Pokemon Master … Surprise, surprise. But still, he elected to attend Emory University in hopes of bettering his future with something more practical: Organic Chemistry. It took no more than three years for David to realize his mistake and bail.

He became lost after that, as he submerged himself into the depths of competitive gaming. This included double-digit hours of sitting on a chair entirely too close to a monitor with a bottle of Mountain Dew and a box of Nerds by his side at all times. And when he wasn’t doing that, he was working in retail.

Thankfully, he met a friend while gaming. And this friend introduced him to anime. And anime reintroduced him to his passion to build worlds and tell stories. The likes of One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, and Fairy Tail and their massive worlds inspired him to create something just as big. And when he read The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss, it solidified his desire.

That’s how the epic fantasy series, Erafeen, came to be. 7 years of development and writing has gone into the story. The Jestivan was published on January 9th, 2016. The 2nd book will be published sometime in early 2018..

I read different genres of literature for very different reasons. In this instance “The Chronicle (Erafeen, Book 4)” by David F. Farris far surpassed my expectations for what I expect from epic fantasy. I want to be transported and travel to magical kingdoms, with beings and creatures only possible through the imagination of a creative mind with the ability to put words to page and tell a story that will blow you away. David does that in spades in this edition of the Erafeen series. I find myself somewhat gobsmacked after reading these books and am in awe of David’s creativity and ability to tell a cohesive and compelling story. Sometimes, books in a series can get monotonous and long winded, but Erafeen is a work in progress and growth with each new addition. There is at the end of each book an eye for possibility and wonderment. Where can this go next? Who will survive the next adventure? Who will be taken down, and by whom? Which kingdoms will be victorious and which powers will it take to achieve those victories? David not only answers those questions with the next book in the series, but opens your mind to ask many more questions. I absolutely love this series and would recommend it to anyone who just want to experience a bit of escapism and first class writing. You will get lost in this tale and find yourself somewhere else at the end.

This book was amazing and I'm beginning to understand what is really happening. I thought I knew when I was reading the previous books, but there is so much more happening than I realized. While the books are not gigantic, there is so much going on in each book. Erafeen has certainly made it to my list of favorite series!

How does this series keep getting better and better! I think we’ve reached the point where action must be had from every character. The first 2 books were endlessly slow but became he was weaving their stories, personalities and so forth enough so that we may connect with them. And there being so many characters it just required sacrificing that background in those initial books.

(New)5.4 stars in my insane rating system. The climax is amazing, everything is just great. Oh, I cannot wait for what is to come.
SPOILERS BELOW

(Old)I do not know what just happened. I have absolutely no idea. What does Erafeen mean, and why is the book entitled such? HOW IS OPHALA THE GENIUS SHE IS? The light realm is winning-ish! TOONO HAS ONE MORE SACRIFICE AND IT MIGHT BE BRYSON...but I do not think so.

I cannot f/:king wait.
